The Return to Hogwarts

“Yes, Mr. Scamander, I sense a familiar magic from Hobby, an old friend that, as far as I know, is temporarily residing with you.”
Newt was a little confused, but after a few seconds, he came to his senses.
"Ah, that's right. It's probably the most unfriendly magical creature I've ever met. It's been living alone for too long and doesn't know how to interact with people—"
Newt looked at Amosta, his eyes clear.
“I understand what Albus means. He said you are the most perceptive wizard he has ever met.”
The friendship between Dumbledore and Newt Scamander is well-known. Dumbledore's ability to thwart Grindelwald's plots and forces was inseparable from the help of this expert in magical creatures.
"is it?"
Amosta chuckled softly and asked with interest,
"Did Dumbledore say anything else to you about me?"
"Just before you came to New York, Albus wrote me a letter telling me that you were coming here, and he warned me to be careful."
"careful?"
"Albus said that wherever you go, there will never be peace, and there will usually be unexpected situations."
Newt's lips twitched as he glanced at the sleeping venomous leopard.
"Oh, that's not my problem. I'm here to help."
Amosta chuckled. He hadn't expected Dumbledore to evaluate him in that way, but thinking about it, it did make sense.
“Albus knows I’m here investigating the disappearance of those magical creatures. He told me that if I need anything, I can come to you and you will help. Of course, I do need to see you, Amosta, about our mutual magical creature friend.”
Is it related to the basilisk?
Just as Amosta was about to ask what was going on, a large group of wizards rushed into his magical sensing area, and many Aurors rode flying brooms low overhead, quickly approaching them.
Newt noticed the commotion and changed the subject.
"Perhaps we should discuss this at a more appropriate time, Amosta. I'm afraid neither of us will have time tonight."
Newt looked at the succubus with a troubled expression, pondering how to persuade the Department of Security of the Magical Congress of the United States to let him keep it in his care for the time being, and then send it back to its homeland when the time was right. If it fell into the hands of the Department of Security, those rude wizards would only lock the succubus in a cage, and considering the damage it had caused to the Muggle world tonight, they couldn't even rule out the possibility that the Department of Security would execute this lovely little girl.
"indeed so."
Amosta spoke calmly, glancing at Amelia's wand; he had much to deal with.
Chapter 901 Security Department Meeting
2024-05-05
As the bright moon hangs in the west, the hustle and bustle of the city that has been raging all day finally subsides. But even at this hour, the modern metropolis of New York still boasts brightly lit office buildings, such as Wall Street, the financial mecca of the Muggle world, which stretches from Broadway to the East River, including the Twin Towers where Amosta and Remus reside.
This also includes Woolworth Building, where the Magical Congress of the United States is located.
However, from the outside, the Muggles saw that the building was completely dark, unaware that a large and special group was working through the night to resolve the events that had occurred in New York that evening.
An emergency meeting is being held on the floor where the security department is located.
"We have now completed the camouflage of the accident site, and the Muggles will believe that the explosion was caused by aging wiring in the building."
In the somber atmosphere of the conference room, an Auror stood up, faced the head of the table, and said to Grevis, whose face was ashen.
"Fortunately, the explosion occurred on the roof, so no muggles witnessed the magic."
Gravis nodded, and the Auror who was reporting continued,
"In addition, Amosta Blaine provided us with information, and he speculated that the cause of this incident was a mistake in the transaction of smuggled slugs between the two parties."
Newt Scamander insisted on taking care of the smuggled slug, but the Department of Security could not allow such a dangerous creature to fall into the hands of an individual, especially given the several 5X danger level magical creature disappearances that had occurred in the magical creature sanctuary hidden in New York's Central Park.
Upon hearing Amosta Blaine's name, a slight commotion arose in the previously solemn and oppressive meeting room, but Gravis tapped the table with his finger, immediately quelling the disturbance.
"On what basis did he make this inference?"
Grevis glanced at the wizard who was giving the report, a fleeting look of wariness flashing in his narrowed eyes.
"According to Amosta Blaine, the person who brought the venomous leopard into the country was an Asian. Because he entered the country at the same time, he had some impression of the wizard. We have verified this information with the Immigration Department. From his entry application, we found that his name is Sato Ryuhei and he is thirty-seven years old."
After entering the country, Ryuhei Sato stayed at a Muggle hotel and arrived at the Blind Pig Bar this evening using Muggle transportation. Amosta Blaine recognized him. However, Sato did not linger at the Blind Pig Bar; after meeting with the two wizards he was dealing with, the three of them left the bar together. The events that followed...
We found fragments of the black suitcase that Ryuhei Sato brought with him when he entered the country at the scene, which basically confirms that the information provided by Amosta Blaine is accurate. Of course, we also found several guys who were hanging out at the Blind Pig bar at the time, and they also confirmed that Ryuhei Sato briefly appeared at the bar but quickly left with others.
"Why didn't the immigration officers discover that this Japanese person was carrying dangerous organisms into the country?"
The Auror with the raised eyebrows who had previously appeared at the scene of the battle between Amosta and the Poison Leopard asked angrily,
"This is undoubtedly a very serious work error."
“Oh, actually you can’t say that, Eriel.”
Beside the reporting wizard, another capable-looking witch said,
"Steven Adams from the Immigration Department is my classmate. He's a responsible and meticulous wizard, but when I asked him about the Japanese man, he seemed confused and had little recollection of him. I suspect that Ryuhei Sato may have used a confusion charm on him."
This behavior undoubtedly violated another absolute taboo, and the meeting room was instantly filled with indignation. This time, Grevis did not suppress his subordinates' anger. He seemed to be deep in thought, and only after everyone had vented their anger did he continue to ask questions.
"How much information do we currently have about the two wizards who made the deal with Sato Ryuhei?"
The wizard who was reporting awkwardly touched his nose.
"The guys we caught who showed up at the Blind Pig Bar didn't seem to remember the two wizards who were trading with Ryuhei Sato. Of course, if you're willing to issue a warrant, we can extract their appearances from their memories."
"Then let's do it."
Grevis said calmly, while the wizard who reported looked as if he had been granted a pardon. He had not expected Mr. Grevis to let him off so easily.
“Then, Eriel.”
Grevis turned to him,
“You were among the first to arrive at the scene where Amosta and his companions were fighting the venomous leopard, right? Tell me what you saw.”
"Wow, that scene was absolutely spectacular!"
Eurel stood up excitedly and told his superiors and colleagues who had missed the big event that evening what he had seen. As he vividly described it, he listened as people's breathing grew heavier, their eyes became excited, and their expressions gradually turned incredulous.
Of course, there were also some people whose expressions turned serious after listening, such as Selena Hilde, who had just made a couple of excuses for her classmate's mistake at work.
"You mean-"
Selena interrupted Eriel's repeated description, her brow furrowed.
"Brain's companions offered virtually no effective help; he was dealing with an adult venomous leopard all by himself?"
"No wand used at all?"
Grevis's brow was furrowed deeply.
“Exactly. Oh, of course, after that slug escaped from the Muggle train tracks, Amosta Blaine seemed determined to get rid of the threat quickly. He borrowed a wand from Amelia at Immigration. I heard that little girl is one of us now?”
"Eurel blinked and asked."
Grevis did not answer; he remained frowning.
He decided to take Amosta Blaine's wand because a great wizard was a huge destabilizing factor and could cause too much damage, but he never expected that Amosta Blaine could demonstrate such power even without the wand.
Grevis lowered his head in deep thought, his face hidden in the shadows of the lamplight, and no one noticed the sinister glint in his eyes.
This is a difficult situation. Taking Blaine's wand and having someone follow him is already the limit of what he can reasonably do. He can't very well order Amosta Blaine to be imprisoned.
"How is Amelia doing?"
After a long silence, Grevis suddenly asked.
"She suffered some external injuries and accidentally inhaled a small amount of the poison gas from the venomous leopard. We have sent her to the St. Josiah Magical Injury Hospital, where she will probably have to stay for a few days."
Eriel shrugged and said,
"Poor newcomer."
So, for the security department, what needs to be done now is very clear.
Thanks to Amosta Blaine's strong support, the saccharine panther did not cause too much damage. Some Muggles who witnessed Amosta Blaine's battle with the panther on the railway tracks and in Central Park have been properly dealt with. The Aurors' next goal is to find the two parties who traded the panther.
"What do you think—"
As the action planning meeting was about to end, Selena suddenly said,
"What exactly are those two guys who bought the venomous leopard from Sato Ryuhei up to? Could this dangerous creature be related to those mysterious creatures that recently disappeared from the nature reserve?"
"Whatever the truth is."
Grevis stood up and said expressionlessly,
"We need to find the suspect first."
After saying that, he strode out of the conference room.
“Oh, that’s not quite normal,”
Eriel watched her boss's departing figure, and said with a slight sense of surprise,
"I thought Mr. Grevis would give us a final deadline for finding the suspect."
