A potion not found in standard textbooks, and even in most books that cover obscure potions, left Remus, who wasn't an expert, bewildered. Amelia shared a similar expression, but after a moment of confusion, her face turned cold, and she couldn't help but say...

"That's complete nonsense, you fairy. Based on your slander against the Magical Congress of the United States and the Minister of Security, I can arrest you on the spot."

Narrak completely ignored Amelia's threats. He knew the deal with Amosta Blaine was nearing its end. He slowly rose and nodded to Amosta in respect.

“I haven’t welcomed you here yet, Mr. Blaine. I wish you a pleasant stay in New York. Oh, and about that learning machine, you can deliver it here before you leave New York.”

After saying that, Narrak took a glass of wine from the waiter's tray and seamlessly began chatting with the guests at another table.

"What is a cleansing potion?" Remus asked Amostella, glancing at Amelia who was glaring angrily at Narrak.

“A magical potion that is very effective against curses, but it was banned by various magical civilizations as soon as it was invented,” Amosta said, his expression enigmatic.

"Why?" Remus asked, puzzled. "It sounds like this is always very beneficial, doesn't it?"

Amostah smiled. During his years in the underworld, 'contract manufacturing' potions was one of his 'main businesses,' so he knew all about various prohibited potions.

"Because one of the ingredients in this potion is unicorn blood, you understand? Hunting unicorns is absolutely forbidden in any magical civilization. Moreover, drinking unicorn blood is extremely deadly. Even if you use various ingredients to neutralize it, you cannot completely eliminate its 'toxicity.' It's equivalent to you actively coming into contact with another curse in order to remove the original curse."

Remus was taken aback. If all of this was true, then Grevis was clearly in serious trouble.

The mere exposure of this incident is enough to ruin him.

Amosta, however, was thinking about other things.

This cleansing potion is highly addictive. Once you drink it, it means you can never live without it, and you will gradually weaken in the torment, eventually becoming neither human nor ghost.

So, how did Grevis get rid of it?

As for using this as leverage to threaten Grevis, that was no longer within Amosta's considerations. As the saying goes, even a powerful dragon can't suppress a local snake. The Grevis family's ancestor was one of the original twelve Aurors who founded the Magical Congress of the United States of America. Their family has a deep foundation, and many family members are in key departments of Congress. Hoping to use this to threaten Trak Grevis would only make things more difficult.

A more cost-effective approach would be to solve the problem Grevis encountered, but a dark magic attack that requires the use of cleansing potions to suppress cannot be eradicated simply by talking.

Amosta was searching his memories when suddenly, as if sensing something, he abruptly stood up from his seat, his expression turning serious, his piercing gaze sweeping through the bar's exterior walls into the outside space.

"What's wrong, Amosta?"

Remus and Amelia, who had been watching him closely, immediately stood up. Remus finished speaking, before Amosta could reply—

Boom!

The blinding flames shone through the oily windowpanes, illuminating the dim room. The deafening roar drowned out all the noise in the bar, and the shockwave shattered the glass windows of the Blind Pig Bar, immediately causing a chorus of screams!

One by one, the gas lamps overhead and the bottles on the shelves behind the bar fell to the ground amidst the vibrations in the air. People thought that the Magic Council had decided to clean up the place and launched an attack. They no longer cared about the rules of Narrak and hurriedly bumped into the tables and disappeared in a flurry. The frightened giant even smashed through the wall and escaped.

In the blink of an eye, the once peaceful Blind Pig Bar was in complete disarray.

The sudden commotion confused Narrak. For a moment, it thought that the security department guys were really coming to raid its lair.

Hobby, perched on its shoulder, reacted swiftly. It leaped up to dodge the shards of glass raining down on it, and before the wind had died down, it shot through the broken window and into the boundless night like an arrow.

"Amosta!"

Amidst the clanging and clattering, Remus shouted.

"Go out first and then talk."

Amosta reached out and grabbed Remus and Amelia. In a dizzying moment, the three of them appeared on the roof of an old six-story building on either side of the alley where the Blind Pig Bar was located.

In the dim light of the night, a brick building a block away was engulfed in flames. A corner of the roof had collapsed, and building stones and glass were falling like rain. From the brightly lit windows on the lower floors, the sounds of panicked escape could be heard, and the desperate cries of Muggles could be faintly heard across the bustling street.

"Oh—it's necessary."

Compared to the tedious and mechanical work in the office, the horrific scene before Amelia left her speechless and at a loss for what to do.

"us?"

Remus was no wizard who hadn't seen a lot, and the scene before him also astonished him. But he quickly recovered and looked at Amostella with hesitation.

Judging from the scale of the event, it's clearly no small matter, and obviously related to magic. This is a problem for the Magical Congress of America, and it's not a wise move for them, being in a foreign land, to get involved.

"Go over and have a look."

The calm and composed Amosta succinctly stated that he, along with Remus and Amelia, Apparated once more, appearing in a building hundreds of feet tall in an instant.

The howling wind carried an atmosphere of simmering tension. Just a step away lay the massive crater created by the explosion. The blast had ripped open the roof of the two tallest floors of the office building, and at least a dozen chicken corpses were visible among the shattered concrete bricks.

The impact caused cracks in the five- or six-story building. Amidst the blazing fire, dazzling sparks and cracking sounds flashed intermittently. The severed limbs of the chickens were being roasted in the flames. The stench and the gruesome scene made Amelia's face turn deathly pale, and she covered her mouth in disbelief.

No wizards died here.

Amostah quickly confirmed this, which surprised him somewhat. The commotion just now was quite significant, and the fact that the wizard who caused the trouble was able to survive such an explosion showed he was quite capable.

Clearly, the wizard who caused the trouble had already apparated away, and the violent explosion had erased some traces, but it still made Amosta realize something.

Along one side of the bustling street, towering buildings stood side by side. Amosta's sharp gaze pointed into the distance; he could sense something rapidly moving away several miles away. Considering that less than two minutes had passed between the explosion and their arrival here, the creature's speed was clearly astonishing.

"Take out your wand."

Remus didn't need a reminder. Amosta glanced at Amelia and said,

"What we're about to see won't be easy to communicate."

Amelia paused for a moment, then stammered an agreement, hurriedly pulling her wand from her pocket.

Remus glanced worriedly at Amosta. If this were in England, and if Amosta had her wand, he would never have stopped her from preventing the accident from escalating. But given the current situation... Remus sighed inwardly, then tensed up and gripped his wand tightly.

Amosta could only teleport the two people within his sight, and he appeared four or five times in an instant. The high frequency of teleportation caused a churning sensation in the stomachs of the two people he was carrying.

At the end of the row of buildings on the street, there was a railway line running through the city. Amosta paused for a moment at the edge of the last building, squinted to get a better look, and then led Remus and Amelia to the railway line that was suspended in mid-air, finally getting ahead of the 'culprit'.

As if without momentum, the animal stopped abruptly the instant it realized someone was blocking its way, like a bolt of lightning streaking across the ground, and glared fiercely at the three people who were turning around.

The moment his gaze settled on the ferocious beast, Remus, who had already resolved to stand in front of Amostella no matter what danger he encountered, gasped for breath and involuntarily took a half step back. Although he quickly recovered and stepped in front of Amostella, his wand held horizontally in front of his chest, the fear in his heart was exposed by his instinct.

Compared to Remus, Amelia's performance was far worse.

She was trembling all over, her rosy lips had lost their color, and her once pure and innocent brown eyes were now filled with surging fear!

The magical creature confronting the three of them had circular red and black markings all over its body, sharp thorns covering its entire body, and a swollen ring around its neck that rhythmically emitted a red glow, its outline resembling the mane of a male lion.

The ferocious beast gripped the ground firmly with its four strong limbs, its massive body slightly lowered, but its equally thick tail, covered with sharp spikes, was raised high, ready to launch a fatal attack at any moment!

Whoosh. Hiss. Whoosh. Hiss.

Amidst the howling wind, Remus could even hear his own panting. He sincerely hoped that tonight would be a full moon; if he were in werewolf form, at least he wouldn't have to suppress the urge to retreat that his reason was telling him.

"Syngonium venom leopard"

Remus said with difficulty.

The renowned expert on magical creatures defines this creature as being as dangerous as a dragon, classifying it as Level 5X!

The leopard in front of us is more than half the size of an African lion, and it is clear that it is an adult leopard. What is most deadly is that the leopard has a wound about a foot long on its shoulder. The gruesome wound has the flesh turned outwards and blood is trickling out!

Wounded wild animals are often the most dangerous; this is a very simple truth.

“I’m afraid I can’t handle it, Amosta.”

Remus pursed his lips and forced out the words through gritted teeth. His implication was clear: given the current situation, retreat was the wisest course of action.

"Can't retreat!"

Amelia shuddered violently and instinctively cried out.

"We have to keep it here, otherwise it will cause even more damage to the city!"

Remus glanced at Amelia, his brow furrowed.

Strictly speaking, Amelia wasn't wrong; in fact, her spirit was highly commendable. It's just that her position didn't align with theirs.

But this venomous leopard wasn't going to wait for the three of them to come up with a solution. It had been hunted by a large group of wizards in its homeland and had been imprisoned in a cage, sailing across the ocean to a completely unfamiliar land. Just minutes before, a wizard had even tried to kill it. Now, its heart was filled with boundless violence!

Brown saliva dripped slowly from its bared fangs, sizzling as it fell onto the sleepers of the road. Piles of foul-smelling white smoke rose from the corroded sleepers and quickly spread with the wind.

Upon seeing it, Remus and Amelia both paled. If they weren't currently upwind, this toxic smoke would have put them in serious trouble!

A red light flashed in the venomous leopard's dark pupils as it locked its gaze on the three wizards before it, its claws gripping the ground.

Sizzle. Sizzle. Pop!

The venomous leopard exuded an even more intense aura, and sparks and lightning flashed from the utility poles standing on both sides of the railway. Blinding bolts of lightning struck it from the left and right, as if it were a thunder beast that could command thunder!

The overwhelming sense of impending doom made Remus and Amelia's scalps tingle. Remus pursed his lips and glanced at Amosta again.

"Keep things stable for now, Remus. I'll cover for you until the Aurors from the Security Department arrive, then let them take over."

Amosta calmly stated that, regardless of the circumstances, he could not allow an extremely dangerous Level 5X magical creature to roam freely in Muggle territory.

Chapter 896 Fierce Battle

2024-05-03

Wild beasts in the jungle have a more acute intuition than wizards, let alone the venomous leopard, which stands at the top of the food chain.

Of the three wizards blocking its way, its dark pupils released a malevolent light that was firmly locked onto the gray-haired wizard who was not holding a wand. In its perception, the person standing behind it was the most dangerous.

Sizzle. Sizzle.

The area enveloped by the whip-like lightning gradually expanded, slowly spreading towards Amosta and the other two. Remus swallowed hard, clearing his mind of all distractions.
