call!
A raging fire tornado filled the vision of all the dragon tamers. The flames surged in like an avalanche, and the air turned crimson and distorted under the scorching heat. In an instant, it was as if a rushing, roaring river of lava was gushing out of the earth.
Amidst the dragon's piercing and mournful howls, the dragon tamers screamed in terror.
The dragon's breath could reach forty feet, but the surging heat turned nearly a hundred feet into a dead zone. The trees within the range didn't even have a chance to burn before turning into wisps of black smoke and being blown away by the hot wind. After the dead leaves piled up on the ground were stripped away, the damp black soil that was exposed quickly turned yellowish-brown!
"Charlie, what's going on?"
The moment the dragon showed unusual behavior, the dragon trainers immediately scattered and fled into the distance, and Charlie, without saying a word, grabbed Amosta's arm and quickly moved away.
Looking at the hellish scene before him, the dragon tamer named Lovek said dejectedly, "Merlin's beard! I've dealt with dragons for most of my life, and I've never seen anything like this—"
Charlie stared wide-eyed at the frenzied fire dragons, his shock causing him to still grip Amosta's arm tightly with his rough hands. He didn't answer Lovek's question immediately; many thoughts raced through his mind. Then, he suddenly turned and stared at Amosta, his expression a mixture of gritted teeth and anger.
"You've killed wild fire dragons, haven't you, Amosta!"
Charlie's broad, mild-mannered face contorted with anger, and amidst the roaring, howling winds of fire, he didn't bother to lower his voice, but glared at Amosta and said.
Well--
The dragon's breath scorched the earth, and some stones on the ground were burned red-hot. Unable to withstand such high temperatures, the stones shattered and flew in graceful arcs through the air, falling to the distance, just like the dazzling trails left by meteors from outer space in the atmosphere!
Dragon breath seemed capable of burning mountains and boiling seas, but it wasn't enough to move Amosta. He still let Charlie hold his arm, watching with great interest. He originally thought that the strange phenomena of these fire dragons were because they sensed his presence, which could threaten them, and that they had all become frenzied. However, a sentence from Charlie surprised him.
“Why would you say that, Charlie?” Amosta blinked.
“Wild fire dragons and captive fire dragons are completely different things, Amosta. They are much more perceptive than you think. They can smell that you have harmed wild fire dragons!”
"is it?"
Amosta continued blinking.
"Could it be that the long journey caused them to become unaccustomed to the new environment and lose their senses, or was there a mistake?"
"Absolutely impossible!"
Even under the intense light of the raging flames, Charlie's face still appeared black as he stared at Amosta.
"Their intuition is far superior to that of wizards. Under normal circumstances, they wouldn't be this hysterical; they would only become more vigilant and perhaps try to escape. But unfortunately, they are now trapped in cages, and these are all incubating female dragons. They will think someone is trying to kill their offspring!"
Cough cough--
Having said all that, Amosta had no choice but to continue his sophistry.
"Oh, I suddenly remembered—"
Amosta said with 'annoyance'.
"A few years ago, when I was traveling around the world, I was attacked by a fire dragon in the wild. My magic skills weren't as good as they are now, so I had to do everything I could to save my life. Anyway, let's not talk about that. Do you need me to help you solve this problem?"
Oh no, please don't!
Charlie looked at Amosta suspiciously, unsure whether Amosta was telling the truth or not.
"If you just leave here quickly, they'll calm down again soon!"
Zheng!
Charlie wanted to send Amosta away after provoking the dragon, but right there, a crisp sound suddenly came from the surging sea of fire. The sound was not obvious in the rumbling roar, but it made the dragon trainers, including Charlie, show fear in unison.
"We're doomed, Charlie!" Lovek cried out in despair. "The dragon burned through the cage. I bet it was that Hungarian tree beak; only it could do that. What are we going to do? It might fly to the castle and slaughter the young wizards!"
"No way!"
Charlie's face darkened further. He slowly turned his head to look at Amosta Blaine, his eyes twitching.
"Please go easy on them, Amosta. Don't hurt them. They're only trying to protect their dragon eggs, so please don't go all out."
“Of course—” Amosta’s lips twitched, “If I knock the fire dragon down, I can’t very well go down and fight the warriors myself.”
The moment the words were spoken, a fleeting ripple appeared in the purple of Amostella's eyes, and the wand had already appeared in Amostella's palm.
The dragon trainers, realizing that Amosta was about to make a move, looked on in awe, even Charlie was no exception, after all, he had been there with Sirius and the others on the night of the Quidditch final.
It's not complicated, is it?
Amosta suddenly waved his wand, and a gentle breeze silently swept by.
It was as if a transparent eraser appeared in the scorching air. From the farthest point that the dragon's breath could reach, the raging flames were wiped away at a visible speed, like graffiti on parchment. Under the astonished gazes of the dragon tamers, in just a few seconds, the dragon's breath that had dyed the night sky red completely disappeared, leaving only four fire dragons crouching on the vehicle frame, stretching their necks and howling desperately, but not knowing why they couldn't produce a single flame.
The Hungarian tree beetle, covered in bronze-colored spikes, was the first to come to its senses. The iron cage binding it had been scorched and broken. Its wingspan was about thirty feet long. After a tooth-grinding metallic twisting sound, the Hungarian tree beetle grabbed its dragon egg with its claws and took flight!
If this Hungarian tree peak gets away, things could really get out of control!
The dragon tamers pulled out their wands and fired spells at the Hungarian tree peak that had already been lifted into the air. However, the distance of more than a hundred feet, the panic, and the dragon's hide with its strong magic resistance thwarted their plans.
Just as they were filled with despair, the ground beneath their feet suddenly trembled.
Rumble--
In a violently trembling vision, the scorched earth, baked by flames, cracked open, and the solid ground gathered up like liquid, coalescing into shape.
In the blink of an eye, a giant sixty or seventy feet tall, towering into the sky, appeared.
The dragon trainers stared in disbelief at the stone giant—its outline was rough, and even the most mediocre sculptor could create a far more beautiful sculpture, but no one doubted its power. As they looked at it, a primal fear welled up within them.
call--
The giant, resembling a god, stirred up gusts of evil wind with its movements. It bent down and opened its massive, mountain-like hand towards the panicked Hungarian tree peak. The fire dragon, which appeared enormous to the wizards, was choked and thrown to the ground like a chicken.
Not far away, many towering trees that had not been affected struggled to pull their roots out of the ground and quickly came to surround the Hungarian tree peak. After a complex transformation, a new enclosure appeared.
The stone giant followed the same method, throwing the remaining three fire dragons in as well. They melted away like snow in the sun, returning their bodies to the earth.
No fire, no flight, armor protection
Charlie and his men watched blankly as Amosta muttered under his breath as he picked up a piece of the iron barrel that had been built in the paddock.
"I feel much better after moving around a bit."
Having finished all this, Amosta stretched and smiled, enjoying the now-cool breeze. But suddenly, he seemed to remember something, frowning as he looked towards the castle.
"Oh, this distance... probably won't attract much attention--"
Amosta smiled frankly at Charlie.
"It probably won't attract a large group of faculty and staff like it did back then."
Looking at Amosta, whose shoulders were relaxed, Charlie clenched his fist and was completely speechless.
Chapter 608 Collective Cheating
2023-11-21
Four ferocious-looking adult fire dragons were thrown into an enclosure made of thick wooden planks by Amosta. These wild fire dragons were untamed, especially during their incubation period. Their maternal instincts almost made them lose their aversion to danger. Even though they had just witnessed their own powerlessness, they still ran amok in the enclosure.
The presence of Amosta prevented them from remaining still. The restrictions within the enclosure prevented them from unleashing their dragon breath and flying, but the Hungarian tree bee was still searching for a chance to escape. It repeatedly rammed into the enclosure, only to be bounced back by the eerie light on the enclosure each time, yet it did not give up. Each impact caused the earth to shake violently.
The smaller but exceptionally agile Welsh green dragon tried to climb up the ramp, but unfortunately, its sharp claws could not penetrate the wooden planks.
The Swedish short-nosed dragon was clever; it instinctively hoped to dig a large hole in the ground to escape underground—this gave Amosta a heads-up, so another enhancement spell was cast, making the ground indestructible.
The Chinese fireball was the calmest. It hid its dragon egg under its belly and observed the attempts of its besieged kin. When it realized that nothing was working, it resigned itself to its fate and crawled down, its ferocious dragon head facing Amosta, its eyes full of vigilance.
The danger was temporarily averted, but the dragon trainers dared not let their guard down and were trying their best to calm the three unruly dragons down.
"I suggest you stay away from these fire dragons during the match, Amosta—"
Charlie wiped the sweat from his brow and said breathlessly.
His gaze towards Amosta was displeased, and the reason was self-evident. The reason he refused to play for a professional Quidditch team after graduation stemmed from his love of dragons; killing a wild dragon was unthinkable to him.
"Otherwise, those warriors will be in big trouble!"
"Isn't that what makes it even more challenging?"
Amosta said with a smile.
Charlie shook his head.
"I really don't understand what you guys are thinking. If you just want the warriors to deal with the fire dragon, there's no need to find the mother dragon who's incubating the eggs, is there? I don't dare tell Mom what the warriors are going to do in the first round. She's not very happy with you lately. If I were to tell her about the fire dragon, she might have even more complaints about you."
"You mean Mrs. Weasley?"
Amostella shifted his gaze from the fire dragon; he sensed something was off about Charlie's words.
"What's wrong? Did I do something to offend her?"
"She thinks you and Dumbledore shouldn't have chosen Hermione for the competition, after reading Rita Skeeter's report in the Daily Prophet--"
Charlie mimicked his mother's tone.
"Oh, how could they do this? Sending Hermione to represent underage wizards? This isn't something you can do just because you have good grades. They should at least have chosen a boy!"
Amosta chuckled to himself.
They chatted for a while outside the enclosure. Charlie told Amostella that in order to keep the dragons quiet on the road, they fed them a lot of sedatives every day, but they didn't carry enough. In order to avoid any mishaps, they had to travel day and night, which is why they arrived at Hogwarts earlier than planned.
The dragon trainers who accompanied Charlie tried their best but failed to quiet the dragons. So, one by one, they had no choice but to stop their futile attempts and look at Amosta with resentment. They dared not ask the famous Amosta to leave immediately. Fortunately, Amosta was perceptive enough to know that he was not very popular with the dragons.
“These big guys can’t escape. How about it, Charlie, come back to the castle with me? I can buy you a drink, consider it a welcome-back meal.”
Amosta said with a smile.
