Abruzzi paused, thought for a moment, and shook his head. “There are advantages and disadvantages… The advantage is that if the country is successfully established, we will be safer. The disadvantage is that our situation in America will be very difficult.”
“What if we become the closest partners with the United States?” Ding Ze said meaningfully, “Then we can openly purchase American arms and have our own fleet…”
“Then you might as well just buy Greece. I heard Greece is basically bankrupt. Buy Greece and you’ll have the Aegean Sea,” Abruzzi said casually.
Ding Ze immediately shook his head without hesitation, "Buying Greece and managing so many ordinary people? Too much trouble. I prefer to occupy an island, be king, and be a pirate."
“Then you’ll need a lot of money, more than a hundred billion US dollars isn’t enough, even multiplying it by ten would be difficult,” Abruzzi said.
This is true.
Buying an island, or an archipelago, doesn't cost much.
Many countries are keen to sell off some of their useless islands.
But what happens after you buy the island?
Renovation, weaponry, and most importantly, the lives of tens of thousands, even hundreds of thousands, of employees…
That's all money.
"Let's make it a long-term goal and take it one step at a time," Ding Ze said, exhaling a puff of smoke.
Abruzzi looked at Ding Ze and said, "Boss, you actually have this idea?"
“Of course, it’s so much fun,” Ding Ze replied with a smile.
Abruzzi didn't quite understand, but he didn't say much.
The two chatted for a while longer.
“We’re going to Chicago tomorrow, so get ready,” Ding Ze said, stubbing out his cigarette.
“Okay,” Abruzzi agreed.
"I'll be going now. See you in Chicago tomorrow," Ding Ze said as he left.
In a blink of an eye, night falls.
This time I came to Los Angeles and stayed for so long that I basically explored all of Los Angeles.
Ding Ze and Janet finished dinner outside and tacitly decided to stop messing around, go back to the hotel, take a shower, eat and drink, have some fun, watch a movie, and then go to sleep.
And that's exactly what they did.
Time flies, and a new day begins.
The two woke up, packed their luggage, checked out of the hotel, went to the airport, and flew to Chicago.
-
Chicago Airport.
Mickey had arrived long ago. Since he had asked about Ding Ze's schedule beforehand, he didn't go back and simply waited at the airport.
It was a little after noon.
Mickey saw Ding Ze and Janet.
Ding Ze and Janet also saw Mickey.
It's clear that Mickey's appearance has changed quite a bit after living in Mexico for a few months.
First, I've gained some weight; second, I've gotten a bit darker skin; and third, I got a buzz cut, which makes me look much more capable.
“Boss, Janet,” Mickey greeted her warmly.
Ding Ze reached out and touched Mickey's buzz cut. "Looks like he's doing pretty well over there."
Mickey laughed, "It's alright, just boring."
"Didn't you cultivate any hobbies?" Ding Ze asked.
“Besides practicing my marksmanship when I have nothing else to do,” Mickey replied.
The three of them talked as they walked and got into a taxi.
“Mickey, come with us to the hotel first. We’ll put our luggage down, and then we’ll take a look around the South District,” Ding Ze said.
“Okay,” Mickey agreed, since he wasn’t in a hurry.
Speaking of the South District, Ding Ze remembered something, "How's that thing about you telling me to have your sister move to Miami?"
Mickey got angry at the mention of this and shook his head, saying, "She said she's not going for the time being, but I don't know what she's up to. She won't tell me when I ask her, so I'm too lazy to bother with her anymore."
“Haha,” Ding Ze laughed, “If you don’t want to go, you don’t have to go. It’ll be the same in Chicago. When the time comes, just tell the people here to take good care of you, and that will be fine.”
Mickey knew what Ding Ze was here for, and upon hearing this, he nodded. "Well, that's the only way. But Chicago is so boring, not nearly as good as Miami."
"That's true."
About half an hour later.
Ding Ze and Janet put their luggage in the hotel, and then asked the hotel to rent a Mercedes for them.
The three moved towards the south area.
Janet had been to Chicago a few times before, but had never been to the South Side. She asked Ding Ze with some curiosity, "Is there anything special about the South Side? You seem very interested."
Ding Ze laughed, "The South District is a slum, nothing special. By the way, I bought a house there before."
Janet: "???? You own a house?"
It's also interesting to say.
So long.
Aside from the estate he recently bought in Los Angeles and the house at 2118 North Wallace Street, Ding Ze really doesn't own any other houses.
“Yes, there is a house,” Ding Ze replied with a smile.
Janet's eyes darted around, and she became very suspicious of something: "Does he have a wife and children?"
"Haha, you're so smart," Ding Ze teased deliberately.
Janet: "?????? Really?"
Ding Ze smiled but remained silent.
Mickey, who was driving, couldn't help but laugh, gritting his teeth to hold it in.
Seeing Ding Ze's reaction, Janet was genuinely upset and glared at him fiercely, "You bastard!"
"Haha, alright, I was just kidding. There's only an empty house, nothing else," Ding Ze said, knowing when to stop.
Janet ignored him and glared at Ding Ze again. "Hmph!"
The two of them ended up causing a ruckus in the South District.
"Boss, shall I go home first?" Mickey asked.
"Okay, you go back now. Janet and I will wander around here."
It didn't take long.
The car stopped in front of Mickey's house.
Mickey said goodbye, picked up his luggage, and walked home with a cocky, pigeon-toed gait.
Ding Ze and Janet then got out of the car and moved to the driver's and passenger's seats.
Janet looked at the scene with genuine surprise. "You're really not exaggerating when you say this is a slum."
“What’s so exaggerated about that?” Ding Ze smiled. “Come on, let’s go to my house and take a look.”
Soon.
The car was parked on the side of the road in front of 2119 North Wallace Street.
The two got out of the car and walked to Gallagher's house.
Ding Ze knocked on the door.
The door opened by the god of cards.
Ding Ze really liked the little guy Karl, but unfortunately, Karl was still too young to take him around to do anything.
“Is Fiona here? I’ve come to get the keys to the house next door,” Ding Ze said with a smile.
Carl, expressionless, turned around and shouted loudly as he walked towards the living room, "Fiona! Someone's looking for you!"
Soon, Fiona appeared in front of Ding Ze.
Ding Ze took the initiative to speak, and as usual, he made up a story, saying that he was the homeowner's employee, came to get the keys, and wanted to go in and check the situation.
Fiona was initially a little suspicious, but after Ding Ze casually pulled out several thousand US dollars and handed it over, she stopped doubting and quickly went inside to find the key.
After all, what is there to doubt?
There was no furniture in that house, so there was nothing to steal.
"Thank you," Ding Ze said with a smile.
Fiona smiled and said, "You're welcome."
