Upon hearing this, the fat man asked with some doubt, "Old Bai, how are you so sure this guy is from the Northern and Southern Dynasties period, just based on these clothes?"

Bai Jing nodded and then explained, "If you've ever been to the Beijing Museum, you'll know that there are exhibitions of clothing unearthed from various dynasties. The clothes this guy is wearing have obvious characteristics of clothing from the Northern and Southern Dynasties, and the patterns on the clothes are clearly those of a ritual person."

Moreover, since this is a temple dedicated to the weasel spirit, it's certain that this so-called headless body contains a weasel spirit.

Upon hearing this, Sun Qiaoshan stepped forward and reached into the collar of the creature. The next moment, he pulled out a dead weasel that had been dead for an unknown period of time.

Upon seeing this, Yanzi's eyes widened in surprise: "There really are weasels!"

Sun Qiaoshan looked at the dead weasel in front of him, his eyes filled with an inscrutable mix of joy and anger, and said in a calm voice, "In the old days, the bandits in the mountains worshipped the Great Immortal Weasel, saying that the Great Immortal Weasel could transform into a human form with an air of otherworldly grace, pretending to be a god and ghost, and swindling money from incense offerings."

At this point, although Sun Qiaoshan's expression didn't change much, Bai Jing could still see the disappointment in Sun Qiaoshan's eyes through the torchlight.

Sun Qiaoshan paused for a moment, then continued, "They used this set of supernatural tricks."

After saying that, Sun Qiaoshan threw the weasel that had been dead for who knows how long.

Looking at the weasel's corpse that had been thrown onto the stone platform, the thrush frowned and said, "It's all just a trick!"

Suddenly, the fat man seemed to have noticed something, and he held up his torch to look in one direction.

"Old Bai, Old Hu, look!"

Upon hearing this, Bai Jing and Hu Bayi looked in the direction of the fat man and then discovered that there were many murals on the wall, and one of the murals depicted Huang Daxian holding a copper box.

Yanzi also saw the content on the mural and thought of something. She immediately said, "This is the copper box of Huang Daxian that the blind old woman mentioned before."

Upon hearing this, the fat man was overjoyed and said, "There must be some good stuff in here. I reckon that Xu Erhei and his gang probably came in for this, but they fell into a trap and ended up hanging themselves."

As he spoke, the fat man lit a torch and looked at the corpses of Xu Erhei and the other two behind him.

Immediately afterward, the fat man seemed to have thought of something wonderful and said, "If we find this, we'll have done a great service. We might even be able to join the army directly."

Hearing this, Bai Jing just wanted to laugh, but Hu Bayi got excited and immediately took out a compass, ready to light candles in the southeast corner to prepare for the tomb raiding.

Seeing this, the fat man became even more interested.

Seeing this, Bai Jing was speechless, but still reminded him, "Alright, you two stop messing around. This place has already been visited by others. Don't forget, these two should be members of the Mud Society, but they accidentally lost their lives here."

Chapter 37 The Eight Mansions Mirror Technique

Upon hearing Bai Jing's words, Hu Bayi and Fatty Wang stopped what they were doing, somewhat embarrassed.

Immediately afterward, Sun Qiaoshan spoke up with a calm expression.

“This young man is right. This place has already been visited by others, so there’s no need to waste our time.”

After saying this, Sun Qiaoshan threw the torch in his hand to the ground, and the torch immediately ignited the fuel in the ditch next to the mummified corpse.

In an instant, the entire stone chamber was as bright as day.

Bai Jing and Sun Qiaoshan's words made a lot of sense. Hu Bayi and Wang Pangzi also knew that things were beyond saving, so although they were disappointed, they still stopped what they were doing.

Bai Jing noticed that Sun Qiaoshan's gaze was fixed on the two corpses of the Mud Society members on the ground, and immediately asked, seemingly intentionally, "What, does the old man know them?"

Upon hearing Bai Jing's words, Sun Qiaoshan snapped out of his reverie and said in a calm tone, "I'm old, I can't remember anymore."

The fat man, unable to hide his disappointment, said, "Well, all that work for nothing. Someone else snatched it away long ago."

Hu Bayi nodded and said, "Someone took a shortcut, dug a tunnel directly into the mountains, and took everything away from here."

Yanzi, who had been wanting to leave for a while, immediately said, "Then what are we still looking for? Let's hurry up and go!"

Bai Jing echoed, "Then let's hurry up and leave. There's no point in staying here any longer."

Hu Bayi nodded and said, "That's right, this place is very eerie. You see, the top and bottom are connected, and the left and right are symmetrical. Yin houses are burial grounds, prepared for the deceased, while Yang houses are for the living. In feng shui, this is called!"

Upon hearing this, Sun Qiaoshan couldn't help but look at Hu Bayi and ask, "You also know the art of gathering spirits to assess a dwelling?"

Upon hearing this, Hu Bayi looked at Sun Qiaoshan and said calmly, "It's all from books, applied in practice, a mix of deception and trickery."

Bai Jing almost burst out laughing when he heard Hu Bayi's words.

This is clearly Hu Bayi's nonsense.

What utter nonsense! This so-called feng shui is actually pseudo-feng shui. As the ancient books say, "The dwelling is the foundation of man. They vary in size and yin and yang. If one does not seek them out thoroughly, one will not be able to use them effectively."

How could there possibly be a place where yin and yang are united?

A burial site is a burial site, and a dwelling site is a dwelling site.

The so-called Eight Mansions method actually belongs to the formal school, which divides Yang houses into East Four Mansions and West Four Mansions according to the eight directions of the Bagua.

Its core theory is: houses facing the four directions of Qian, Kun, Gen, and Dui are called the Western Four Houses, and houses facing the four directions of Kan, Li, Zhen, and Xun are called the Eastern Four Houses.

People were then divided into East Four Life and West Four Life based on their birth year.

The East Four Life Trigrams are Kan, Li, Zhen, and Xun, while the West Four Life Trigrams include Qian, Kun, Gen, and Dui.

But the question is, why is there only an East-West destiny, and not a North-South destiny?

The south belongs to fire, the north belongs to water, the south is associated with yang, and the north is associated with yin.

This clearly demonstrates the error of focusing on east and west while ignoring north and south.

The northeast direction is Yang, and the Yin wood is at its peak, with the energy flowing upwards.

The Kan direction represents water and coldness, and water flows downwards, causing the Qi to move downwards.

Wood and fire are of the same category, and their energy flows upwards. They should logically be classified as belonging to the east or south. The Gen house should be an East Four House, but it has been classified as a West Four House.

The metal and water elements, whose energy flows downwards, should logically be categorized as belonging to the north or west. A Kan house should therefore belong to the west.

Four houses, but was assigned to the East Four Houses.

The Eight Mansions method is unclear about Yin and Yang, and the relationship between numbers and the Five Elements of the trigrams is extremely chaotic.

Such a method of Feng Shui, which doesn't even make sense in terms of basic concepts, is clearly a pseudo-Feng Shui. It may be okay for self-entertainment as a game, but it will definitely cause great harm if used in practice.

Although Hu Bayi's abilities are currently average and limited, he definitely knows this, so naturally, he is just fooling Sun Qiaoshan.

Bai Jing was naturally happy to see this happen, but he didn't intend to expose it.

After discussing it, the group decided not to go back the way they came and instead exit through the tunnel.

Moreover, when Bai Jing arrived at the entrance of the tomb, he also found a military water bottle at the bottom of the tomb. The water bottle had several Japanese characters engraved on it, which meant "Kwantung Army Water Supply Unit".

The fat man looked at the water bottle and muttered with some confusion, "For the water supply troops?"

Upon hearing this, Hu Bayi glanced at the fat man with some disdain and said, "Have you never been to school? This character is pronounced 'ji,' like 'ji water troops.'"

Suddenly, the fat man thought of something, looked at the kettle, then at the tomb raider's hole, and said, "Hey Lao Bai, do you think the Japanese might have taken the things from this tomb?"

Upon hearing Fatty's words, Sun Qiaoshan and Huamei both turned around sharply to look at Fatty, and then fell into deep thought.

The group didn't linger there any longer and then climbed out through the tunnel.

At the same time, they also brought along the bodies of Xu Erhei and the other two.

Although Xu Erhei was just a local hoodlum before, he was still a member of the village. It wouldn't be right to just leave his body in the wilderness, so they decided to keep it with them.

As he was leaving, Bai Jing remembered something, went back to get a piece of cloth, wrapped up the weasel that had been dead for who knows how long, and carried it with him.

Although Hu Bayi and Fatty Wang were puzzled as to why Bai Jing was carrying this thing, they didn't ask any further questions.

And so, the group returned to the forest farm around mid-afternoon. Bai Jing and the others then borrowed a cart from the forest farm and loaded the bodies of Xu Erhei and the other two onto the cart.

Then the group pulled the cart back into the village.

The deaths of Xu Erhei and the others caused quite a stir in the village. After all, it was three lives lost, and in this small village of only thirty or forty households and a little over a hundred people.

The sudden death of three people, coupled with the earlier death of Hua Bangzi, is a huge tragedy for the village.

Although Xu Erhei and his gang had done their fair share of petty theft in the village, they were, after all, villagers who had been raised by the village elders.

Therefore, at this moment, everyone no longer cared about what Xu Erhei was like before his death; they just wanted to know how Xu Erhei died.

At night, the village secretary led the hunting team down from the mountain.

Then the village secretary asked Bai Jing and one of them to go to the secretary's house to report on Xu Erhei's matter.

Ultimately, after an internal selection process, the group chose the chubby guy, who was the best at chatting, as their representative to go to the Party Secretary's house for discussions.

Before they went, Bai Jing and his group made a special trip to the supply and marketing cooperative to buy some bulk liquor, which they asked Fatty to take with him so they could ask the Party Secretary about Sun Qiaoshan when they visited his house.

After all, knowing yourself and your enemy is the key to victory in every battle.

Bai Jing and Yanzi weren't idle at home either. They bought some wine from the supply and marketing cooperative, and since the hunting team had returned, they also got some meat. So, the two of them and Yanzi drank together at home.

P.S.: I will upload the content to the book club later. Those who are interested can take a look.

Chapter 38 Only by experiencing it firsthand can one truly understand its flavor.

While they were drinking and eating, Hu Bayi, perhaps having had too much to drink, immediately suggested that they go to the forest farm to thoroughly investigate Sun Qiaoshan and Huamei.

Bai Jing tried to stop him but couldn't, so he could only let him go.

They had almost finished eating.

Bai Jing took advantage of the evening to continue supplementing Hu Bayi's half of "The Sixteen-Character Yin-Yang Feng Shui Secret Technique".

So Yanzi simply took her leave.

When Bai Jing finished supplementing the Earth Scroll and had also supplemented part of the Human Scroll, he saw the fat man swaying back and forth.
