Fairy Tail: I Am the God
Page 222
Gray held a glass of grape juice, taking sips intermittently to moisten his throat, and shook his head, saying:
"I don't know. All I know is that if this continues, we probably won't see any hope even after several years. I'm planning to try the magic of this world. If that doesn't work, we'll have to turn back!"
After finishing the grape juice in a few gulps, Gray brought up the washbasin from the small hotel and filled it with clean water.
Hermione watched with great interest as Grey dipped his right hand into the basin of water, muttering incantations and calling out Nicolas Flamel's name.
"Nico Flamel, Nicolas Flamel, Nicolas Flamel..."
As the calls continued, the clear water in the basin began to ripple, creating waves.
Gray stared intently at the water's surface, and just as the water was about to change, he suddenly felt a pang of fear.
"This is... Oh no, get out of the way!"
.boom...
With a loud bang, the water in the basin suddenly burst open, soaking Gray and Hermione completely.
Water droplets dripped from their bodies onto the ground, making them look quite disheveled.
Hermione looked at her soaked clothes and asked incredulously, "What happened? Did the magic malfunction?"
"The magic is fine; it's the name that's being protected. Just as I suspected!"
Gray wiped the water droplets from his face. Legend has it that many powerful beings have names and surnames that represent extraordinary power.
For example, in the Harry Potter world, Voldemort's name is protected.
Everyone who calls this name will be detected by Voldemort himself, hence the term "Mysterious Man".
Clearly, the name Nicolas Flamel was also enchanted.
Perhaps the protective forces here are not as strong as those of the gods who hide their names, but it still caused a backlash from the magic, destroying the tools used for the search.
"Pack your things, we should head back."
Grey sighed and said to Hermione beside him.
"Go back? Aren't you going to look for Nicolas Flamel?"
Hermione was a little surprised, because through their time together, she knew that Grey was not someone who gave up easily.
"We can't find them. A mage who doesn't want to be found, even if we search for more than ten years, we will never meet them."
Gray shook his head and said, "Go to your room and change your clothes. We're going back to Hogwarts."
"Oh." Hermione had lost patience after searching for half a month, and she was overjoyed to hear that she was going back.
Hermione went back to her room to change her clothes, and Grey started packing his things.
A dozen minutes later, Hermione, now dressed in a pink coat, arrived at the hotel reception with Grey to check out of the room.
"Excuse me, are you Mr. Gray?"
The hotel receptionist, a middle-aged woman, first gave Hermione a strange look before asking Grey.
"It's me, what's wrong?"
Gray ignored those looks.
“Mr. Gray, I received two opera tickets with your name on them.”
The middle-aged woman bent down, searched through the drawer for a while, and took out two tickets to the Paris Opera.
Gray took the ticket with some surprise and looked at the tag on it, which had his name on it.
"Who sent it?" Gray asked curiously.
The middle-aged woman shook her head and said in confusion, "I don't know. This ticket was on the table when I woke up this morning."
Upon hearing this, Grey and Hermione exchanged a glance, both looking quite serious.
Many people are able to place tickets on a hotel table without anyone noticing.
However, finding out Gray's itinerary and his exact location is no easy task.
"Who is looking for me, Nicolas Flamel, or the mysterious figure?"
Gray pondered to himself, then he smelled a strange odor, as if it were wafting from the ticket.
He bent down, picked up the two tickets, and sniffed them.
It had a pungent smell, which, although it had become very faint, still reminded people of gunpowder.
“It smells like sulfur…” Hermione sniffed and confirmed to Gray.
"kindness!"
Gray's eyes gleamed as he put away the two tickets and said:
"When we went to the Paris Opera, I guessed who this stranger was."
"Who is it, Nicolas Flamel?"
Hermione asked, puzzled, and Grey patted his bag, explaining:
"Nico Flamel was a real person. He was born in the 13th century, before the concept of scientists existed, so he was known as an alchemist."
Legend has it that Nicolas Flamel was an expert in gunpowder, and because he often dealt with gunpowder, he would smell of sulfur all over his body.
Therefore, this person's identity can only be one of two possibilities: either Nicolas Flamel himself, or the work of the reincarnated being who replaced Voldemort, and I lean more towards the former.
Just to be on the safe side, Gray sent a signal to Hogwarts in a special way.
After doing all this, Hermione bit her lip and thought for a while before following Grey out of the inn.
Their destination was the Royal Opera and Ballet Theatre in Paris, France.
Since the other party had invited Gray, Gray knew it was a dangerous place, but he had a vague feeling that if he didn't go, he would miss something.

Standing outside this world-renowned theater, Gray noticed that there weren't many people there to enjoy the opera.
It was exactly 10:00 AM, the time when the opera was about to begin.
Grey and Hermione approached the theater with their tickets only to discover that the theater, which could seat more than two thousand people, had fewer than two hundred people at most.
Among the sparse crowd, most were elderly men, and at least one-tenth of the seats were empty.
Grey and Hermione found a spot near the stage to look for Nicolas Flamel, who might appear.
Unfortunately, among the elderly people in the room, although many looked quite old, not one of them smelled of sulfur.
"No!"
Hermione tugged at Lagrès's sleeve and whispered:
"Could it be that our analysis was wrong, and the person who invited us wasn't Nicolas Flamel, but someone else?"
"If it's not Nicolas Flamel, then it can only be that person's trap. Be careful, and if you sense anything is wrong, remember to protect yourself."
Gray whispered a few words, but his face showed no sign of panic.
This time, before arriving, Gray sent a message to Dumbledore to ensure his safety.
I believe that even if this is a trap, once Dumbledore and Grindelwald arrive, the three of them working together will be able to put up a fight.
And so, time passed second by second, and the opera officially began.
"Watching an opera is a pleasure, and the fact that you can watch it so attentively shows that you have a high level of artistic appreciation."
Suddenly, a voice of praise reached Gray's ears, causing him and Hermione to turn around at the same time.
Before my eyes, a mysterious person dressed in black and wearing a mask was sitting not far away.
quiet...
Neither Grey nor Hermione spoke, silently watching the mysterious man.
You should know that the two of them specifically chose their seats.
Just seconds ago, there was absolutely no one in that spot, indicating that the mysterious man's appearance not only evaded Gray's detection but also failed to arouse his suspicion.
"Aren't you going to introduce yourself?"
Gray looked at the mysterious man's mask, and from the exposed eyes, he seemed to see the man's pride.
Pride, immense pride and honor.
This is different from arrogance; it is an emotion that comes from the heart, expressing that this person has strong self-confidence.
Gray instinctively sensed that this person was not Nicolas Flamel, but the reincarnator he had never met before.
"Edward Ford, from Nightmare Space!"
The mysterious figure opposite slowly spoke, then, as if remembering something, added:
"By the way, please forgive me for disturbing you, and this outfit is not very presentable. The previous owner of this body really had no artistic sense. His aesthetic sense was worse than that of a gorilla, which made me feel very embarrassed."
Grey and Hermione were stunned when they heard this.
They had imagined countless ways they would meet this person, but they never expected that the meeting would turn out like this.
He speaks with an eye for art and a penchant for decorum, his tone as that of a medieval nobleman.
