Bruce smiled.

This morning, when William Earl convened a board meeting to discuss the IPO, he formally reappeared before everyone, interrupted the meeting without doing anything, and several directors who had agreed said they would consider it further.

“Gotham doesn’t seem to have forgotten me.” He sighed.

After nearly falling into darkness the day he attempted to shoot the paroled Joe Cher, he left Gotham and has been traveling the world ever since, learning all sorts of things and honing his skills. He has been out of the public eye for six years.

"Your family contributed to Gotham's prosperity, and they will never forget you." Looking at the young man before him, and remembering his deceased friend, the old man sighed.

"Mr. Fox, I'd like to know if there are any garments that specifically block laser weapons?"

After exchanging a few words, Bruce Wayne got down to business.

"What's the reason this time?"

Mountain climbing, cave exploration, or BASE jumping?

"Putting his emotions aside," Lucius joked.

Using these excuses, the son of my deceased friend took several high-tech tools from him.

"I……"

Bruce choked on his words.

To be honest, even with his intelligence, he couldn't think of any reason why a rich second-generation heir who indulges in eating, drinking, and having fun would need to face laser weapons.

"It's okay if you don't want to tell me exactly what you're doing, at least I won't have to lie when I'm asked."

The old man humorously and considerately moved on from the topic.

Bruce remained silent. His high-tech equipment might fool others, but it certainly wouldn't fool the old man who was handing over several pieces of equipment to him.

The two tacitly agreed not to continue the topic.

There is a semi-finished product.

Leading Bruce to a box covered by a curtain, he lifted the dusty curtain and took out a pair of black wristbands.

"Energy-absorbing wristbands, made of superconducting composite materials, are as light as carbon fiber, yet capable of withstanding swords and blades, and most importantly..."

Holding the wristband, Lucius approached a workbench and used a stun gun on the wristband.

An electric current flashed across the wristband, the light disappearing in a flash.

"Absorbed?"

Upon seeing this, Bruce's eyes lit up, and he couldn't wait to ask.

"Can lasers work too?"

“Any kind of energy is fine, there’s just one thing…” Lucius solemnly raised a finger: “Once you reach the absorption limit, even a little more will cause it to explode!”

"Its power is enough to blast through a tank's armor; if a person were wearing it..."

Needless to say, the outcome will be a pile of minced meat.

"So it's a semi-finished product."

Bruce frowned at the obvious and fatal flaw.

"Why not continue the research?"

"First, ordinary people don't have a need to face the Star Wars Stormtroopers."

Secondly…

After making a slight joke, Lucius opened his arms, a look of melancholy flashing across his face, and gestured for him to look at the empty floor.

"Wayne Enterprises' technology research and development department is now defunct."

Earl believed that Wayne Enterprises' existing resources were sufficient for over a decade, and there was no need to invest large sums in technological research and development for the time being.

"For example, the AK47 has been a global bestseller for decades and is still relevant."

His words implied that some businesses require only simple investment but yield huge profits.

"AK47?"

Bruce keenly noticed his tone and wondered why he brought this up.

“Weapon development used to be just a part of Wayne Enterprises’ business, but a few years ago the focus began to shift, and now arms make up the majority of the group’s revenue.”

"what?"

Bruce Wayne's expression changed. He had been deep in war-torn areas and had witnessed firsthand the harm that war brought to people. He gritted his teeth.

"How dare he do such a thing in Wayne's name?"

"When it comes to arms, there's something that might be important that I need to tell you."

Remembering something, Lucius frowned and looked serious.

"what?"

“In recent days, Wayne Enterprises has lost a large-scale technological weapon used in warfare.”

Chapter 56: News Arrives

"That was a large weapon used in war, a microwave generator."

It can emit microwaves to heat and evaporate the enemy's water source remotely at high temperatures.

Lucius had been demoted to the basement of the building for several years, during which time William Earl ignored him until a few days ago when he suddenly sent someone to retrieve detailed information about the microwave generator.

"Water source?"

"It sounds like losing it isn't a big deal."

But the people who stole it must have had ulterior motives, because dozens of people have died trying to get it.

All the crew members on that cargo ship carrying microwave generators were killed.

"Any clues?" Bruce frowned.

"All the bodies have disappeared; they are suspected to have been thrown into the sea."

Someone found this at the scene.

Lucius pulled out a photograph of a bloodstained ninja shuriken stuck in the bulkhead of a cargo ship.

Bruce's pupils contracted when he saw the standard design of the darts.

"You recognize it?"

"I will find a way to have someone investigate this matter."

Bruce didn't give a direct answer, his expression complicated.

Of course I know him. He learned most of his skills there, undergoing cruel and inhuman ancient training to strengthen his will—the Shadow Warriors Alliance.

But when the League orders him to kill a criminal to prove his commitment to justice and to lead the Shadow Warriors to destroy Gotham, he causes chaos and destroys the base with gunpowder.

"It seems that this matter is not over yet."

Looking at the photo, he seemed to smell the earthy scent mixed with the moisture before a storm, his gaze sharp.

……

Downtown Gotham City, Burnley District, Manchester Restaurant.

This is one of the best restaurants in the city, frequented by the wealthy and powerful.

The room was brightly lit and elegantly decorated, accompanied by the melodious sound of a violin.

In the restaurant, David and Selena sat facing each other, looking at the bustling second floor, where the windows were so clean they reflected people's images and could be seen from downstairs to upstairs.

"This is the information trading venue you chose?"

“If you attract the attention of those people you asked me to investigate, it won’t matter where you do your business. They will find you like hounds that smell blood and tear you to shreds.”

Selena shrugged.

"If you're lucky, they won't notice, and it's fine to complete the transaction even on the street."

Nervous? David showed no sign of nervousness, only suspicion.

He suspected she wanted to vent her frustration at being threatened earlier and take the opportunity to kill herself.

I just looked at the menu, and a meal here would be enough to make an average family work for nothing for a year.

"To be honest, I've wanted to have a meal here for a long time, but I've never had the chance."

Selena looked around at the decor with curiosity.

The East Side is Gotham's slum, and the infamous Crime Alley where Bruce Wayne lost his parents is located there.

Although Catwoman has many expensive items in her collection, she has always believed that it is never a good thing for a thief to be too high-profile.

Buzz!

The loud roar of the sports car.

A silver-gray sports car with an exaggeratedly streamlined body was parked downstairs, attracting the attention of diners.
