He hadn't taken this kid, David Kent, seriously at all. So what if one of him could beat several football players his own age? It was just kids fighting.

But now that we've actually seen him, from beginning to end, Fran hasn't seen a trace of anxiety or panic on David's face. He's been watching him coldly the whole time, as if he were watching a little bug jumping around recklessly. His mature and calm demeanor is eerily unsettling, and it's unclear what gives him his confidence.

Is it his monster brother?

Chapter 38. You're awake?

"I have heard that throughout history, there have been some warriors among mankind who could endure all kinds of torture rather than tell their enemies what they wanted to know."

David held the fifty-cent coin between two fingers, a dangerous glint in his eyes, and his words, spoken with a faint smile, sent shivers down the spines of those who heard them.

"I'll bet you fifty cents—you're not that kind of person!"

"If you don't kneel on the ground crying like a woman within half an hour and tell me everything I want to know, such as your email account and password, I'll give you fifty cents!"

"A seventeen-year-old high school student, did you learn about the torture you're referring to from television?"

Fran's heart skipped a beat, and he exaggeratedly laughed as if he had heard a joke.

For some reason, after David finished making the bet with a smile, he had a dangerous feeling as if he were being watched by a predator a hundred times more terrifying than a lion, and he couldn't help but feel a chill down his spine and his hair stand on end.

"David, what do you want to do?"

Clark's expression changed, and he stopped David from stepping forward.

The vicious words that David uttered also frightened him.

The torture was inhumane and trampled on human dignity; he couldn't believe his brother would do such a thing.

What's most frightening is their practiced manner, as if they were inviting someone to dinner.

"Clark, are you still going to flaunt your kindness at a time like this?"

David looked at Fran with a cold smile, as if he were looking at a dead man.

He had never actually tortured anyone, but he believed that it was easy to learn and he wasn't afraid of making mistakes.

"Absolutely not, what if you don't get the answer?"

Clark struggled for a moment, then gritted his teeth and said.

Several experiences taught him that reasoning with his younger brother was useless, especially in such an urgent situation where there was no time to reason with him.

He went straight to the consequences if something went wrong.

“If he doesn’t go back on time, an email will be sent to his inbox, and you may not have time to interrogate him at all.”

"It might not take half an hour, ten minutes will be enough for me."

David said, about to push Clark away: "I don't think this despicable and insidious guy is a tough guy!"

"no!"

Clark grabbed David's hand tightly.

“David, I can’t let you risk Mom and Dad.”

He lowered his voice and tried his best to dissuade his younger brother.

"Just give him whatever he wants; they're just a bunch of gangsters who do bad things anyway."

David raised an eyebrow, looking at Clark with surprise as if he were meeting him for the first time.

"I never expected that Clark, your bottom line could be so flexible!"

This is an outright violation of the law and a crime.

"I agree." To prevent any further complications, Clark gripped David's hand tightly and turned to Fran anxiously, saying, "Hurry up, I'll come find you in a bit!"

“I’m waiting for you, Clark.”

Fran glanced at David, a smug look flashing in his eyes, then turned and quickly left.

David wanted to step forward, but if he exerted any more force, his Thanos-like appearance would become apparent, so he frowned.

“I don’t understand why you would stop me for a few gangsters. This isn’t like you, David.”

Seeing that the person had left, Clark released David.

He believed that David wouldn't be able to overtake him at his speed.

"Human desires are like a boulder rolling down a mountain; once they start, they never stop."

David straightened his cuffs, put away the fifty cents, and said coldly.

“Let me give it a try, David.” If Fran was a competent gambler, Clark was a failed one, always indecisive and clinging to wishful thinking.

But sometimes backing down and compromising is tantamount to admitting defeat.

"Same words to you."

David's eyes met, and their gazes locked. "I can't let you risk Mom and Dad's lives!"

This is something you don't need to think about.

Only a fool would leave a powerful weapon that allows him to do whatever he wants unused.

"It's impossible to feed a hyena all at once. When it gets hungry again, it will come back to you. It's a never-ending cycle."

That guy's appetite will only grow bigger and bigger, and sooner or later this will implicate Jonathan and Martha.

"David, you know you're not as fast as me."

I want to protect someone; you can't find or catch me.

Both held their own opinions. Clark didn't want to fight his brother, he said through gritted teeth.

"Just let me try once!"

As he spoke, he couldn't help but feel angry. Why was he the older brother, but his younger brother wouldn't listen to him even once?

"I know."

Stepping back, David looked at him and said, "Putting everything else aside, your speed is at least ten times, or even dozens of times, faster than mine."

Even if I were to bring someone with me, if I wanted to escape, I probably wouldn't even be able to touch the hem of your clothes.

“David…”

Clark's eyes lit up with delight upon hearing this.

They thought David was about to agree.

“I didn’t want to do this.”

David shook his head and sighed, then took a small box out of his pocket and opened it.

Snapped!

A thumb-sized, green crystal appears, radiating the unique radiation characteristic of kryptonite.

He took out kryptonite and held it to Clark like an exorcist wielding a crucifix against a vampire.

"Meteorite?"

Clark's legs went weak, and he immediately felt as if his body had been hollowed out. Under the fluorescent green light, he staggered backward uncomfortably, barely managing to keep himself from falling by supporting himself against the wall.

He stared wide-eyed in disbelief, his voice strained out from between his teeth.

“David… you actually used a meteorite against me.”

He had suffered losses at the hands of meteorites more than once, but he never expected that one day he would see a meteorite used against him by his younger brother.

"This...this is the meteorite that Grek was carrying?"

He remembered that his younger brother had kept a meteorite.

"You forced me to do this, Clark."

David stepped forward and delivered a swift and decisive blow to his face with a fist as hard as a hammer.

Bang!

Clark was knocked to the ground and lost consciousness.

Bang!

Looking at Clark sleeping like a baby, David casually tossed the kryptonite beside him.

Continue to apply weakness to prevent the Kryptonian Child from basking in the sun and waking up halfway through.

He turned and left the deserted alley.

At the end of the town's street, Fran leaned leisurely against a streetlamp, waiting for the mobile check for the rest of his life to come to him.

Although Clark said he would come to find him, he didn't dare go too far, afraid that the other party wouldn't be able to find him.

"Who are you waiting for?"

A cold voice suddenly rang out from behind.

Fran turned and saw David, his eyes filled with doubt.

"It's you? Where's Clark?!"
