The masked man with a ferocious expression hurled homemade Molotov cocktails at another position. The exploding flames splashed onto several people, thwarting their offensive and leaving them groaning in agony on the ground.
"Kill!"
The man who threw the Molotov cocktail squinted, his face filled with cruel excitement, as he called for his teammates to charge and attack.
The battlefield was littered with severed limbs, the stench of blood mingling with the smoke rising into the sky, and Kara's face showed discomfort, rejection, and disgust amidst the clouds.
"Joe Al and your father sent you and your cousin to this galaxy, where the Yellow Sun endowed you with godlike abilities."
But this is not Krypton, not your home!
With a wave of his hand, Hai'er teleported himself and her to a world filled with ice and snow.
Kara looked around, trying to figure out where she had been teleported to, but when she turned her head, she found that Hael's appearance had changed.
He was dressed in the clothes of a Kryptonian nobleman, with a handsome face and eyes like two flawless sapphires, exuding the air of a wise scholar who made people feel reliable without them noticing. This was completely different from his previous deathly pale skin and terrifying black eyes.
"This is how I am. If I wanted to appear with this face, I could have gained your trust."
Haier waved his hand and picked up a piece of ice from a distant iceberg, looking at his former self with sadness in his eyes.
His voice changed too; it was no longer as cold as a lonely dead star in a corner of space.
“I don’t even need to say these words.”
Hael pointed with his finger, and Kara immediately panicked to find that a memory had appeared in her mind. She uttered a few strange and complicated syllables.
"This...what is this?"
She was speaking a language she didn't normally speak.
“This is the place we just went to. It’s the language of the tribe on one side of the battle. I helped you learn it just a moment ago.”
Kara finally realized how terrifying the man in front of her was, not only his powerful body that could withstand her attacks and break her wrists, but also his mental ability to directly modify her memories.
If he really had some ulterior motive, there was no need for him to go to the trouble of gaining her trust.
"If there were even the slightest chance to save Krypton, to save your parents who perished in the explosion, would you be willing to risk everything to try, Kara Zo'el?"
“Of course.” Kara gritted her teeth.
"Now I assure you, it's not just a slim possibility."
Haier made that request again.
"Kara Zo El, would you help me go back in time and save Krypton?"
"What...what can I do to help you?"
Kara's expression softened.
Undeniably, in the few days since arriving on Earth, her cousin's adoptive parents have brought her a lot of warmth. They are a simple and kind couple who can warm others like sunshine. Being with them can almost make one forget their sorrows.
But only almost.
When she is alone, she can never forget her deceased parents and misses the time when her family was together.
However, Kara couldn't help but wonder, since Hael's strength was unfathomable, why did he need her help?
“You have a lot to do, Kara.”
That means supporting me.
Amidst the howling wind, it reverted to its original form, its dark eyes revealing the loneliness of a lone wolf.
"I have been drifting in the universe for too long. When you are all alone among thousands of stars, darkness is the eternal background color, and you can't hear any sound except your own heartbeat, you will understand that loneliness can drive you crazy."
I crave encouragement and support, especially after discovering on this planet that Jor-El's son might never want to go back in time with me to save Krypton and my mentor. I feel even more alone and need someone to acknowledge me and tell me I'm right.
Originally, Karl El was the closer person to him and was the ally he wanted to win over.
"Cousin?"
Why won't he go back in time with you to save Krypton?
That was his father, his compatriot; he hadn't even met his mother yet!
Kara frowned, skeptical of the claim.
"Ever since I came to Earth, he has often asked me about Aunt Lyra!"
She had originally planned to take Haier with her to visit her cousin, as well as David.
David will definitely help them if he learns of this situation.
Kara thought that Hail had teleported her to the North Pole so that he could persuade her to go find Karl together.
"Do not."
Haier shook his head vigorously, his eyes cold.
“I have been observing him for a long time, even before you arrived on Earth.”
I can confirm one thing: apart from his physical body being that of a Kryptonian, Kal-El's mind has long since become that of an Earthling. You grew up on Krypton, you have memories of every blade of grass and tree there, and you have happy times spent with your biological parents. But he is different.
His feelings for those Earthlings far exceeded his feelings for his own fellow human beings.
"How could..."
Kara wanted to argue, but then she remembered Zod, who had tried to rebuild Krypton but was defeated by David and Clark, and his men.
And then there was that kind couple; she had to admit that their acceptance sometimes helped her forget Krypton and her past traumas, especially since Clark had been raised by them.
"Clark never spent a single second with his people, his biological parents..."
"You've noticed that too, haven't you?"
Haer laughed.
"But it's alright, I have your support. Now let's go and get the things we need for time travel."
"What is it?"
Kara's eyes lit up, no longer wanting to think about whether Karl was willing to save Krypton.
The hope of returning home is just around the corner.
“Once, Zod brought his army to transform this planet into Krypton, and they brought with them one of Krypton’s most advanced technological achievements—the World Engine.”
With Kara as his companion, Hael's cold and resolute gaze turned to the few spaceships that were quietly moored on the ground in the wind and snow in the distance.
He hadn't dared to look there casually before, because the Earthling named David had overly keen senses. If he got too close, the other party would notice his spying. Several times before, the other party flew out of Earth, and he had to leave the solar system.
But now that everything is fine, it's time to take action.
"The World Engine has the ability to terraform planets, and the energy crystal that powers it contains energy as vast as the ocean. I need the energy inside it."
……
In the Lonely Fortress, David had just handed over the energy interference technology he had obtained from the Kryptonian father and daughter a few days earlier to Joe Al, wanting the Kryptonian scientist to see its application prospects and potential.
"Brainiac is a strongman on the technology side."
Although he appears in his powerful biological shell and rarely uses technological means against enemies, we cannot let our guard down.
In the spacecraft's main control room, David's eyes flickered.
The technology Brainiac uses to build a mechanical superhero could pose a significant threat to him if used to raise a large mechanical army.
The technology that shrinks city lights would be even more troublesome if it were turned into a weapon.
"The energy jamming device made according to this technology is quite effective, but it cannot distinguish between friend and foe and lacks the ability to manipulate things subtly."
After examining the holographic image, Joe Al thought the energy interference technology was novel and covered aspects that Kryptonian technology had never covered, and he succinctly explained its advantages and disadvantages.
David knew that this was not because Jason of the Calanos had a higher level of technological research than Krypton, but because such uncontrollable weapons would not be a priority for Kryptonian research. Jason's research was something they had to do after losing their energy weapons.
"It's alright, this is enough."
David laughed.
Hopefully, Joe Al can improve upon this, in case Brainiac's super mechanical army attacks one day.
Just as he was about to speak about his hidden worries, he suddenly stared intently out of the spaceship.
"Kara? And..."
Who is this guy?
Seeing that Kara had brought an unfamiliar stranger here, David frowned and disappeared into the spaceship in a flash.
Amidst the vast expanse of ice and snow in the Arctic.
With a sickening metallic creak, an unseen hand pierced the interior of the Kryptonian mothership and pulled out the World Engine.
Haier hovered in mid-air and made another grab from a distance.
An energy crystal emitting a blue light was drawn from the very center of the world engine and flew into his hand.
Gazing at the light swirling inside the crystal like a deep nebula, a look of excited anticipation appeared on Haier's face.
"We've got the crystal; the first step to returning to the past has been achieved."
"who are you?"
A cold voice came from the cold wind, and a figure appeared high in the sky. Hael and Kara looked up.
David glanced at the Kryptonian mothership that had been violently breached, then turned his gaze to Hale.
