Ultraman Legend of the Light Chaser
Page 187
Those familiar with the story of the giants don't actually feel much of the reality of what's being told. Although it's been proven to be true, just as many people struggle to empathize with a car accident happening ten blocks away, many people mentally interpret the story as news and then incorporate it into conversation.
Now they were truly fleeing for their lives beneath the monster's feet. Concrete structures were like sandcastles that a child could crush underfoot in the battle against the colossal creature. The characters from the story came to life, and they clenched their fists as they gazed at the radiant light that stood against the storm.
A dark gray storm is approaching.
But the figure blocking its way was still there, seemingly indestructible.
As the tornado propelled the giant forward, the sound was as piercing as cutting through metal.
When the blood of light particles evaporates, the radiance is as gentle as a feather carried by the wind.
The arm armor shattered, the tip of the storm sliced through flesh, and golden cracks spread like shattered glass from the forearm, but the giant ultimately stopped it.
Jun Sakuma heard Samuel say:
"Then, most importantly, don't think about whether you can do it or not. Just do your best in the things you have to do."
Megafrash felt as if he were drilling into an iron plate, which was extremely tough. It seemed that he could break through it quickly, but it was just like an ancient stubborn rock, resisting the wind blade storm.
A large amount of light particles and blood that didn't have time to disperse into the world splattered onto the alien beast's shell, adding a touch of brightness to its dry skin.
The gray tornado slightly changed direction, slicing diagonally across the upper edge of the giant's arm, preparing to pass over his shoulder.
His arm should no longer be able to stop him, Megafrash thought, but the "iron plate" suddenly leaned forward and offered its left shoulder to it as well!
Stardust gushed forth, flooding Jun Sakuma's vision. He was almost stunned, and Samuel's laughter echoed in his ears:
"Chun, regarding the use of energy... anything can become a weapon."
The owner of the voice said this.
"bass--"
At first, it was just a tiny spark of light, and then the entire Sea of Stardust boiled over! As soon as he finished speaking, all the light particles that had not yet disappeared released their passion without reservation!
The figures of the giant and the alien beast were instantly submerged.
If you've ever seen thousands of prayer lanterns slowly rise into the sky, their light and shadow swaying, like stars hanging in the mortal world, then this is probably what it looks like.
Amidst the gray tornado, sparks ignited, one or two flames, eventually coalescing into a vast expanse. The gray-black alien beast was enveloped in silver flames, and even the tornado itself was engulfed in a vortex of fire.
It is true that it can limit the power of light, but Samuel is now simply using a part of his body as a vehicle to accelerate the release of energy and its return to the world.
The gentle, harmless "feathers" became deadly, scorching flames. They seeped into the skin along the cracks and ignited with a "bang," like countless small bombs exploding on the body.
Megafrash's movements froze due to the sudden burning, and his screams shook the entire space—not an illusion, but the barrier separating this space was being shaken by the injury suffered by its master!
Ignoring it, Samuel looked up and saw a blue giant approaching from beneath the dome, moving like a shooting star!
The attack, which had been building up for a long time, had gathered so much energy that it was almost tangible. A simple flying kick, however, easily tore through the storm carried by Megafrash with its crimson light, leaving the world clear and bright in its wake.
……
"Phase restored at the target location," came the CIC report over the Night Raid team's communications: "The victor is... an Ultra Warrior."
“Ah, that’s good news,” Shiori Hiraki maneuvered her fighter jet back, dodging the purple crescent blade. “But is there still a chance to fight?”
The barrier shattered, the wind blew, and the sand dissipated in an instant.
Those who escaped the calamity inside did not see their relatives and friends celebrating their survival; the sky outside was even more gloomy than inside the barrier.
Dark Mephisto held in one hand the blue orb of light that had gathered after Megaflash disappeared, with dark clouds hanging low and rolling like a tide behind him.
He shifted his gaze from Chromium Chester to the two giants, each with a red light flashing on their chest.
"We meet again," he said.
"You dare show your face again!" The barrier was removed, and the beam technique could be used again. Samuel raised his hand and threw two explosive light blades.
The latter retaliated with Dark Ray Feather, causing two fiery clouds to explode in the air, briefly illuminating the nearby glass curtain wall.
"Such a temper..." The dark giant tilted his head to dodge the pale blue ray that was slicing towards him. He looked the other party up and down and said, "But I only want to retrieve Megafrash. Are you sure you want to fight here?"
His response was a powerful kick.
Mephisto twisted and dodged, punching Nexus's immobile left shoulder, then chuckled and stepped back, just avoiding Nexus's Particle Feather.
Taking advantage of his retreat, Nexus launched a pursuit.
Two figures clashed rapidly in mid-air. Just moments before, they had withstood each other's punches and kicks, but in the blink of an eye, they had used the force to fly back hundreds of meters away. The particle feathers collided and annihilated with the dark light, and the embers fell like shooting stars, streaking across glass curtain walls, the paint of parked vehicles, and the eyes of the crowd gazing at the sky.
"You're quite annoying too." Dark Mephisto raised his demonic claws. Having returned from his trial at the First Base, he was certain he had mastered the energy extracted from the alien beasts. His usually jet-black eyes burned crimson, and the Dark Ray Gathering he summoned with a raised hand was naturally quite different from before.
Calling it a sudden gathering might be a more appropriate term.
The charging time was much shorter than before, and Nexus's hastily deployed light shield only lasted a short while. But for Chishu Rei, that was enough. He steeled himself, shielding himself with only his arms, and charged towards the enemy through the rain of light. He swept his hand across Nexus Armor, and the Storm Sword extended, its tip drawing a streak of rainbow light.
"Samuel, how are you?" Jun Sakuma shared Samuel's senses and found that he couldn't see clearly for a moment, but fortunately it was only for a moment. The silver giant took a breath and his vision became clear again.
"Explosive Blade, did you remember how the energy was condensed just now?" Samuel asked him.
"Ah..." Jun Sakuma didn't expect that the person guarding the outside of the barrier was Dark Mephistopheles, so he didn't react at all.
“It’s alright,” Jun Sakuma heard Samuel say earnestly, without being reprimanded. “Perhaps you can develop new techniques, but for now… remember this one.”
The giant raised his fists to his chest, the red-glowing timer covered with a dazzling golden light. Jun Sakuma was very familiar with this starting stance; it was the Pelleriti Light Stream.
He carefully sensed the steps of energy compression and flow. As a prelude, the halo cut towards the enemy first. Before the enemy could react, the golden molten flow followed closely!
Dark Mephisto had just parried Nexus's lightsaber with his demonic claws when suddenly a bright light shone from his side!
"boom--!"
A deep purple lightning bolt stretched across the sky, spreading a giant net between the dark Mephistopheles and the stream of light.
It truly devoured the molten gold like a voracious snake, and the brilliance that could have illuminated half the city suddenly fell into the "pocket" suspended in the air.
“You’re too impatient.” Mephisto glanced at the net woven by lightning, then summoned the orb of light formed from the remains of Megafrash, and turned to fly towards the center of the dark cloud.
Nexus brandished his sword, intending to give chase, but the lightning suddenly shifted its angle, a deep black light emanating from its center.
The "Exploding Light Blade," which had failed to hit him last time, was now launched at an even faster speed after a simple charge, knocking down the blue giant along with the lightsaber that was held in front of him. The massive body fell into the river.
Chapter 139 The Wind Has Just Settled
The river gradually calmed down.
The dark clouds dispersed, the giant disappeared, and if the road hadn't been crushed to pieces, and if the aftershocks of the earlier battle between the Dark Giant and the Night Raiders hadn't shattered the buildings—perhaps most people would have thought they were hallucinating.
Many of those who escaped through the barrier were still in shock when Nonomiya Mizuki broke away from the crowd and ran towards the river.
Qian Shulian stretched out her soaking wet hand and placed it on the pebbles on the bank. A trace of blood stained the river water, first as a thin line, then quickly spread out and rippled into a pale pink mist.
The pebbles were slippery, and every effort he made was like being pricked with needles. He couldn't move himself to the shore for a long time. His clothes were also heavy; his coat was soaked with water, cold and sticky, as if it wanted to drag him downstream.
Chishu Rei struggled to prop her head up, her hair falling over her eyes, separating the world into small windows.
"Phew, thankfully it wasn't swept too far," a familiar voice said.
Then came dry, strong hands that grabbed his shoulders and pulled him out of the river. The warmth instantly dispelled all the chill.
"Sakuma?" He felt his breathing become easier, but he still couldn't move.
The latter replied, "If you ruin it, these people won't stand for it."
Jun Sakuma turned his body to the side, revealing the vehicles on the embankment.
The car door opened, and two figures emerged from it, rushing towards him with the same ferocity as heroes rushing to the cafeteria to grab meat and vegetables at the appointed time.
The heroes rushed forward, one calling his name and the other calling him "senior," and together they lifted him up and scurried across the riverbank, grabbing his hands and feet and stuffing him into the car.
To the uninitiated, it would seem as if this group of men in black suits were about to commit a kidnapping in broad daylight.
When Mizuki Nonomiya saw this scene from afar, he assumed that his colleagues had gotten there first and were trying to take the person to the research institute. He immediately shouted, "Let him go!" He quickly prepared a reason in his mind, such as "This is my target. Please do not interfere with the observation and monitoring." If the other party did not agree, he would tear off his colleagues' mask and let them try their fighting skills.
Startled by her shout, the group turned around, and only then did Nonomiya Mizuki recognize several familiar faces.
"Sakuma and... Shintaro?"
There was another stranger standing to the side. Noticing her gaze, Shintaro Hirata said, "He is researcher Haiben. He's here to deliver medicine."
On the other side, Samuel, taking advantage of the fact that ordinary people couldn't see him, directly formed a form next to Senju Rei, first drying his clothes, and then kept staring at the Evolution Trustee.
Chishu Ren stared at the golden cracks on his arms and shoulders.
“You’d better worry about yourself first,” Samuel said, turning his gaze away. Qian Shulian, oblivious to the unfriendly tone in his words, just smiled at him.
A reporter on the radio is giving a tense live report, and in the background, someone is crying because their family member trapped behind the barrier has survived.
Although some were angry about the destruction of the city, Senju Rei was clearly in a good mood; more people had survived, which was something he liked to see.
"You want to see others live, but some people want to see you live."
Upon hearing this, Qian Shulian suddenly stopped smiling. Samuel, arms crossed, continued his struggle with the Evolution Truster, while Qian Shulian faced the person who had been smiling since earlier.
The gaze that lingered on him.
The owner of the gaze is named Mizuki Nonomiya, a memory police officer and monitor, a person with clear eyes who likes to drink hot chocolate...
Her clear eyes were now filled with worry, reminding Qian Shulian of a lake before dawn, her melancholy seeping into the morning mist.
"Alright, since the senior can't resist now, let's just stuff him into the hospital like this!" Shintaro Hirata made the final decision, and everyone responded enthusiastically. Before the white-coated scoop could pick up the missing person, they stuffed him in, slammed the car door shut, and sped off to the nearest hospital.
"I..." I ran away from the organization and am now an unregistered person! And if those people at TLT find out about the suitable person, they definitely won't let it go! Chishu Rei wanted to remind them.
Shintaro Hirata had already answered the phone: "This is Hirata. Oh, the Cleaners? What does your search for the Adaptor have to do with my senior?"
A volatile response could be faintly heard from the microphone, with words like "surveillance" and "riverside" audible.
