Chapter Twenty-Four: Old Friends
"Area 7, coordinates 253, detected alien beast vibration wave!"
The alarm blared throughout the base, and a person who was half asleep rolled over and fell off the bed with a "thud".
"what--!"
The Night Raid Team B quickly donned their gear and set off. One of them had a bump on his head, which drew glances from his passing teammates.
"Isn't area 7 coordinates 253 near the base?" He grinned, put on his helmet, and took out his Devil Trigger: "Coming to the vicinity of the base in the middle of the night, are they tired of living?"
Three Chromium Chesters took off through the tunnel and, upon reaching their destination, found only an empty sea, bathed in the glow of obsidian from the night sky.
"CIC, no trace of the alien beasts has been found." The captain sought operational instructions.
The sound of rapid typing came from the other end of the communication line.
After a short wait, CIC finally announced: "An abnormal phase distortion has been detected, extending from 5 meters above the sea surface to the seabed. The distortion data has been transmitted to you. Immediately advance into the target phase!"
"understand!"
Although everyone had learned the phase entry operation procedure through Group A's combat report and was prepared for what they were about to see, when they actually entered the dark area and witnessed the battle with the giant creatures, the team members still couldn't control their wildly pounding hearts.
"That is, the Ultra Warrior..."
The ground where the battle took place was cracked, and the outer layer was torn away, revealing the bedrock underneath.
A place that used to be a low hill was bombed and collapsed, and the smoke and sparks have not yet completely dissipated.
The alien beast with enormous claws slammed into the ground, completely crushing the already unrecognizable hill. The silver giant swung a blade of light, forcing the other three-headed creature to retreat, then leaped into the air, charging a powerful flying kick aimed at the head of the alien beast that hadn't yet gotten up.
Northfield rolled on the spot, avoiding a direct hit, but the aftershock alone sent him flying dozens of meters to the side.
The violent tremor caused the water to ripple with waves almost like a tsunami. Before Samuel could regain his composure, Galberos's fireball, trailing a long tail, struck him.
"Feeling good about being attacked from behind?" Samuel was prepared; his fireballs slammed into the pale blue light shield, creating ripples.
With his free hand, he slammed the exploding light blade into Northfil's face, blasting the latter, who was trying to stand up, to the ground. Then, bracing himself against the light shield, he rushed to Garuberos and raised his fist, which he particularly wanted to communicate with in a friendly manner: "This is the head we had last time!"
"boom--!"
The sickening cracking of bones was drowned out by the sounds of fists colliding, several fangs flew out and stuck into the ground, and Galuberos's other two heads angrily bit Samuel's arm.
It hurts, but Samuel is really enjoying smashing it!
Northfield's long tongue wrapped around his leg, so he simply stood still, his whole body covered in silver flames. The flames followed the tongue all the way to Northfield's mouth, causing the latter to hastily withdraw his attack and exhale several puffs of black smoke.
Meanwhile, thanks to the tight grip of Galuberos's other two heads, Samuel grabbed its middle head to hold it in place, withstood two claw strikes, and used his silver flames to break the kick. With his other hand, he pried open the chest plate and slammed the massive three-headed dog heavily to the ground.
There wasn't anyone similar to Saijo Nagi in the Night Raid Team B; their Chrome Chester had Northfield tied up.
only……
"What is this? How come so many alien beasts have suddenly appeared?" The team member in charge of the attack felt as if he was hallucinating, so he hesitated to press the launch button: "Captain! The alien beasts have the ability to confuse vision, making it impossible to identify the target. I need guidance!"
Outside the battlefield, the man in black robes stood quietly on a relatively high spot. His eyes, which were usually expressionless, now gazed at the battlefield. To be precise, he was looking at the silver figure, and finally a hint of life appeared in them.
"Your fighting style is still so... direct," the man in black robes smirked, a hint of longing creeping into his eyes. "Who will be fighting alongside you now?"
“He is not ‘Samuel’,” a voice said.
The man in black knew he should go over there. Nosferatu and Galberos were at a disadvantage, and he should intervene, at least to take down the Night Raid team.
But there seemed to be a force binding him, making his legs feel as if they were rooted to the spot.
I'm afraid.
What are you afraid of?
Until Northfil was rendered incapacitated by the Night Raiders' attack, the Silver Giant's golden molten flow pulverized him.
The dazzling colors came into view, and the sun-like light illuminated the dark world. Even the stagnant pool was filled with vibrant colors—this wiped away the dust from his memory and allowed the scene to flow with bright and moving colors again.
[It is not a god; humanity does not need gods.]
Samuel said this to him when he first saw the light.
The One of Light illuminated his path in the boundless darkness. The young man, still quite young at the time, was troubled by his "abnormality," and it seemed as if a voice was constantly tempting him to fall.
He hesitated, lingering at the edge of the cliff.
Just as they were about to slip and fall, a light appeared below the isolated cliff.
The seductive voices were banished, the dark clouds dispersed, and a pillar of light fell from the sky.
Ignore the "divine oracle"; you already have the answer in your heart.
The young man with black hair and blue eyes stared blankly up at the place where the "stars" gathered. Vitamori had his own religious beliefs, and the people of light were speaking blasphemous words in front of him.
It was from this sentence that they went through the most difficult years together, the most turbulent years of his life, yet ultimately a time of triumphant progress—now as distant as a phantom, polished by long memories, now shrouded in the afterglow of time.
He had dreamt of reunion countless times, and now it seems his dream has come true?
Instead of going forward, he frantically pulled at his hood to cover himself more completely, and ran down the hill in an almost fleeing manner.
"What are you hesitating about!"
"I, I..." The man in black robes turned around, and the silver giant was kicking Garuberos three times in a row, forcing him to retreat unwillingly. The roar reached his ears, but it was far less captivating than the sound of blood rushing through his body at this moment.
The voice said
That's absolutely right, Samuel is dead.
He witnessed it with his own eyes.
Having traveled to countless worlds, I occasionally encounter people who look the same but belong to two different worlds. However, they are completely different, with their own experiences and entirely different lives.
Although "Samuel" exists in this timeline, it certainly won't be the one he knows.
However, the brilliance of the molten gold made him unable to stop fantasizing: perhaps the experience of being in the same space and time was connected, and perhaps this connection would remind "Samuel" of him.
“What I witnessed with my own eyes is certainly true,” he said to the voice. “Rest assured, I have not forgotten my original purpose for embarking on this journey, and on this point, even Lord Samuel cannot stop me.”
"But the more helpers the better, Lord Samuel should understand me?"
They might not have to be enemies; perhaps he still has a chance to fight alongside the people of light.
It's like returning to my hometown many years ago, a place that, despite suffering, was still vibrant and full of hope.
Galberos disappeared during the attack by Night Raid Team B and Samuel. The man in black stood still, and despite the urging voices in his ears, he did not step forward.
He removed the dark domain.
Before the seawater surged back in, Samuel glanced knowingly at the location of the man in black.
The heavy shadows shrouded the man in black robes, and he could only make out a vague human shape.
"Is there anything there?" Samuel hesitated to move, and Jun Sakuma was puzzled. They still had to go back and take care of Karin.
“Hmm,” Samuel said, this time with some uncertainty, “it’s… a repulsive smell.”

"Does Dad know he'll come back?"
When Jun Sakuma returned to the hotel, he found Karin sitting in front of the TV, looking at him with a strange expression.
His phone was on a call and placed aside. When Huali saw his empty hands, she pouted and said, "You sneaked out on your own, and you didn't even bring breakfast."
Samuel lay motionless in the space of consciousness, seemingly unresponsive even if the sky were to fall and the earth were to collapse.
Jun Sakuma gritted his teeth inwardly: "I'll drag you out to take the fall sooner or later!"
They could have returned much earlier, but Samuel changed locations after the battle to observe TLT's equipment factory, which delayed them. By the time they emerged from the sea, it was almost dawn!
He rushed back in a hurry, but without saying a word, this guy pushed Sakuma Jun outside to face Karin, and then went to sleep soundly.
The elderly father, sweating profusely at his daughter's questioning, replied, "Ah, I just went for a morning run, and when I came back I remembered some work-related things, so I forgot about breakfast."
Huali squinted at him and saw that he was indeed dressed casually, which seemed appropriate.
It's good that you didn't go looking for someone else behind your mother's back.
"I haven't had breakfast either, Karin. Go brush your teeth and wash your face, let's go eat together." Jun Sakuma changed the subject at the right moment.
"It's already been washed," Karin jumped off the chair and finally said crisply, "Taiyaki!"
"How about this for breakfast? I saw a nice noodle shop downstairs. How about udon noodles with miso soup?"
"Oh, then no scallions, and no miso soup, just cola!"
The elderly father, who had inadvertently led his daughter astray, silently shed tears of regret: "Drinking this will ruin your teeth."
"Dad, do you drink it often?"
"I... I'm an adult, my teeth are strong, I'm not afraid of it." The old father decided to make up stories first and then fool them.
Huali nodded seriously: "Dad, what you said is different from what the teacher said. I'll ask the teacher when I get back."
"Ah... it's good to ask the teacher more questions." Tears of regret mingled with tears of dismay.
"Ha." Someone in the consciousness space who claimed to be fast asleep chuckled.
……
Jun Sakuma and Karin stayed in Sapporo for two more days, during which Samuel visited the biological research institute disguised as a warehouse twice.
There are several laboratories of various sizes inside. In the most meticulously renovated sterile laboratory, the researcher whom Sakuma Jun had called a "white-coated sieve" was conducting experiments around the remains of the alien beast.
