The Yapools were indeed experienced conquerors of the galaxy, and they were adept at dealing with planets inhabited by native monsters.

The relatively powerful monsters, in conjunction with the Yapool's spaceship forces, attacked the cities scattered throughout the planet, restraining Fos-001 and the four-winged bird monsters on this planet, while the other monsters laid down a thick black fog barrier at a distance from the planet.

Since they are beings from the dark universe, darkness is naturally their home turf.

Thick black fog obscured the light from the parent star, plunging the entire planet into boundless darkness.

In this way, while the four-winged bird monster is alright, Fos-001's energy source is entirely dependent on the planet's light, which is not good news for a planet that is being destroyed and whose civilization has only recently emerged.

Moreover... the Yapools are not a race that likes to preserve their "collectibles" intact, Fos-001 considered the worst-case scenario.

……

……

"Roar--"

Again.

Fos-001 rallied his spirits, leaving the four-winged bird monster to continue guarding the city, while he charged into the billowing black fog.

Flying out of the black mist was a monster with beetle-like carapace and membranous wings. Its right membranous wing had been torn off by Fos-001 a few days ago and had now been replaced with Yapool's mechanical wings.

Fos-001 had barely made contact with the beetle monster when two more enormous vortexes appeared on the other side. Creatures modeled after the M17 Nebula's original Skyhorn Serpent, combined with the Dark Universe's unique monster, Gromes, emerged from those vortexes.

"This is never going to end." Fos-001 stopped and hurriedly retreated, narrowly missing the eerie purplish-black light emanating from the serpentine monster's mouth.

"The beetles are here, so there should be a few more..." Amidst the swirling light, a lightsaber extended from his forearm. With a flick of his right hand, he unleashed a crescent-shaped slash.

A blade of light pierced through the black mist not far away, and three monsters that looked somewhat like bees but had giant pincers emerged from it. The giant pincers of two of the bees were probably mechanical creations, and they were even newly equipped with things like cannons.

Fos-001 looked around at the monsters: snakes with wings on their backs, beetles with bulging membranous wings, and creatures with wings like bees. He was engulfed in wisps of dark red and silver flames, and in the blink of an eye, he disappeared from his spot. The next second, the three bee monsters suddenly scattered, and the lightsaber struck the spot where they had just gathered.

The serpentine monster spewed out venomous mist, enveloping itself. Fos-001's cold voice echoed in the air: "It's you again. Now that I've torn you apart, can you even repair yourself?"

The city ruins are shrouded in darkness. Without the protective shield maintained by the four-winged bird monster, the residents can only live in an environment where they cannot see their own hands in front of their faces.

The last glimmer of light was carefully preserved and hidden in a cave that was not easily spotted by the spaceships hovering overhead. The orange-red flames warmed the gathered survivors, who stood silently around the brazier that occasionally emitted sparks.

Beyond the light, where dried blood and ruins intertwine.

The little girl in the pink dress nestled in her mother's arms.

She didn't sleep well; there were still tear stains on her face.

The mother remained in her arms, her body cold for a long time. The blood on her back had drained and dried, clinging to her body along with her clothes, turning a deep reddish-brown.

Perhaps she is taking her child to pick out new fabrics to make clothes?

Not far from her, there were two rolls of woven fabric, also stained with blood.

Sometimes, the pitch-black sky would suddenly light up, the brief light flashing and disappearing in an instant, and the fine texture of the woven fabric, before it was stained with dust and blood, would be revealed in the light.

The survivors who were still outside could also see a blurry silver shadow flashing through the air.

This reminded them of the silver giant they had seen some time ago who had left scars on the city, and their fear intensified.

A thunderous roar swept in from afar, and blinding flashes of light from the explosions approached the city from the sky like a string of pearls.

"Bang, crack—!"

The silver figure returned, accompanied by many rotating green discs and numerous strange, menacing beasts.

The little girl in pink was awakened by the explosion. As soon as she opened her eyes, she saw the silver giant carrying a strangely shaped, enormous monster crashing down from the sky. Immediately afterward, the ground shook violently, and dust billowed into her face.

She instinctively closed her eyes, and only when she felt the dusty wind stop did she cautiously open them to look.

Through her mother's arms, she saw that the monster that had been smashed down was now unrecognizable, its deep purple, thick blood gushing from the wounds all over its body, quickly forming streams that spread outwards until, not far in front of her, the stream of blood turned to the side along a deep crack in the street.

The silver giant struggled to his feet, probably injured. He clutched his left side, golden glints of light seeping through his fingers.

She recognized the pile of rotating green discs; it was the beams of light they cast that had taken her father away.

She also recognized the silver giant; it was the one who swung his whip, smashing many buildings. Her mother held her in her arms to protect her.

She didn't recognize the strange behemoths, but... the silver giant was fighting the disc? Weren't they all in cahoots?

She carefully slipped out of her mother's arms, silently glanced at her mother's half-closed face, which still wore a reassuring smile, pursed her chapped lips, and finally mustered her courage. She looked up at the giant with his back to her, and at the pile of discs confronting him, and shouted:

Why don't you all just die!

The child's innocent voice echoed in the empty ruins.

These were the most vicious words she knew.

[Hikaru is a good girl, Hikari shouldn't swear.]

"What did we do wrong? Why is this happening?!"

【If Hikari behaves well and doesn't make mistakes, Mom and Dad won't punish you.】

"Give me back my mom and dad, you monster!"

[Go to sleep, Hikari. Mommy is here. Daddy will be back when you wake up.]

Her favorite pink dress was covered in mud and blood, making it almost impossible to see its original color. Compared to her enormous size, she looked like a tiny, dirty mud monkey.

The words she uttered with all her might not even be heard by the other person.

The places where her tears had washed away revealed her original skin color; she must have once been a very pretty and clean-looking young girl.

She wiped it with the back of her hand, but the spot that had just been cleaned by her tears was now covered in a grayish mess again.

But she couldn't control that; her mother's embrace was so cold that it kept giving her nightmares.

Since everything's gone anyway, she won't live much longer, right? Overwhelmed by boundless fear and anger, she chose to question these sudden swarms of destroyers while sobbing.

The explosions from the battle between the creatures drowned out her thin, fragile voice, making her look like a madwoman talking to herself.

"Kill me all at once!" she cried, kneeling on the ground. She sniffled, and then her voice turned into a child's soft, pleading whine: "Hikari is so scared... Mommy, please say something, please..."

"Dad...where are you...?"

Laser beams, scattered from high above, continuously struck the city, which had already become ruins, tearing the already shattered buildings into even finer fragments of bricks and tiles.

A merciless rain of laser beams, denser than raindrops, tore open a series of deep craters in the neatly constructed streets.

But not a single laser beam or stone was splashed on that crying mud monkey.

Golden shards of light drifted across her cheeks, and the sudden warmth made the little girl, who had been crying with her head buried in her hands, slowly lift her head.

The silver giant stood above her, protecting her and her mother's bodies, its milky-white eyes silently watching her.

As she got closer, she noticed that, apart from the long, narrow scar on his left rib, the giant's silver body was covered with fine wounds all over.

No wonder he looked so dazzling; golden glints of light were oozing from countless wounds, and there were also some specks of red light surrounding him.

"Why don't you kill me together?"

The little girl wanted to ask him a question, but she couldn't utter a single word. She opened her mouth and let out a hoarse gasp, and the tears that had just stopped flowed out again as if a dam had been broken.

A pitch-black sky, a ferocious behemoth, and a spaceship gleaming with an eerie rainbow light.

On the ground, a child covered in mud and blood clung tightly to the body of his mother, who was still in an embracing position.

The silver giant provided them with a small patch of light.

It's so warm.

Those star-like specks of light drifted away.

The blood of giants.

Chapter Thirteen: Pasifica

Light rain, weaving through the endless rolling black fog, intertwines and creates magnificent colors.

The sparks that exploded in succession were like jewels strung on a colorful thread.

Without the protection of the light shield, the city ruins must be an extremely dangerous battlefield.

However, the survivors remained motionless, either sitting or standing, gazing up at the sky.

Various colored lights illuminated their disheveled figures.

Those behemoths and spaceships always tried to lure the battlefield into the city, and they succeeded, leaving the silver giants with their hands tied.

But no one was injured again, and no one fell down.

What's going on with this silver giant? He destroyed this city before, and now he's desperately protecting them?

"What's going on, this idiot 001?" Estend wrung his hands anxiously as he looked at the message on the screen, causing Omarment to turn and look at him every now and then.

“Why sit here and wait to die on this planet? Running away is better than being surrounded,” Estend glanced again at the communication marker with Fos-001, which was still a disconnected grayish-white. “The more they fight, the more ferocious the expeditionary force will become. They might start massacring people… We’re doomed, we’re doomed…”

"Then let's wait for this planet to rotate a few more times, and then start preparing to blow it up." On the other side, Fang Te and several leaders finished their small meeting and walked into the command center while discussing the last topic.

Upon hearing this, Estend almost reflexively shouted, "No!"

Everyone turned to look at him.

Estend paused, then stammered, "I mean... we can collect fear energy for a few more days."

There was no response. Estend then said, "Um... we might be able to recover Fos-001."

Fang Te nodded in agreement, saying, "Indeed, I don't really want to give up on this work."

Estend felt his heart pounding wildly.
