Chapter 165 The Great Serpent of Gemir

"Where do you come from? The bottom of the sea? Above the sky? Beneath the abyss? Or beyond civilization?"

The Tower of Babel, the operations command center.

The doctor leaned against the window, staring at the oddball standing in the doorway.

This should have been one of the safest places in the Tower of Babel, even though most of the operators were deployed to the front lines.

However, the so-called safety is only relative to ordinary people. Even elite operators—the vast majority of elite operators are still within the scope of ordinary people. They may have the ability to turn the tide of battle in a local area and do things that seem very unscientific to ordinary people, such as prying open an alloy door with their bare hands or jumping from a height of hundreds of meters without getting hurt.

To many, they are objects of admiration, but to the real monsters, they are just 'ordinary people'.

Clearly, this anomaly that suddenly appeared inside the operations command center was such a monster.

Whether it was his exposed, grayish-white skin that resembled dry tree bark, or his neck that was several tens of centimeters long, both were clearly different from ordinary people.

There is absolutely no such native creature on this land, and the doctor believes he has some authority to speak on this point.

It appears to be humanoid, yet it possesses certain plant-like characteristics; the raised lines covered by its grayish-white skin resemble the veins of a plant more than blood vessels.

The doctor seemed to faintly smell the earthy scent wafting around him, which reminded him of some unpleasant memories.

Is it a twisted creation from a laboratory, or an alien from beyond civilization?

She prefers the latter.

In her eyes, the biotechnology mastered by various countries on land was simply appalling. Those failed products forcibly cobbled together from experimental content had no question of how powerful they were, or even how long they could survive.

But this thing in front of me is different. Although its shape is strange, it is very stable and clearly a mature body. Moreover, it has a completely different ability from Originium Arts. It used something similar to pollen to mentally manipulate the entire Babel Tower base.

The Doctor herself was not affected. In fact, many forces in this world are ineffective against her, such as infection with Oripathy, which is feared by many, or spiritual erosion from the deep sea and beyond civilization. These are abilities inherent to 'pureblood'.

However, the Babel Tower operators couldn't do that. Faced with completely unfamiliar forces, the protection of Originium Arts was completely ineffective. Their bodies had no resistance to that unfamiliar substance and were easily affected.

The number of operators capable of fighting against them is too small to effectively restrain the majority.

Chaos ensued.

The person capable of controlling the situation is trapped in this not-so-spacious office.

The strange creature, resembling both a human and a plant, simply stood at the doorway, its emanating dust and invisible influence permeating the office. It neither spoke nor made any other movements. Faced with a wooden-like being, the doctor couldn't guess its thoughts and could only take the initiative to speak.

“Killing, war, necessity, sacrifice.”

A sharp, hoarse voice rang out, like an old electronic radio, muffled and jarring.

The doctor managed to deduce what it said, but still couldn't guess what the guy was planning.

The need for killing and war to carry out some kind of sacrificial ritual is a tactic that has been overused in the past. Many unrecognized religious organizations or groups of sorcerers have done this before, so it's nothing new.

But what does this have to do with her?

The doctor didn't think he was worth being specifically watched or guarded. She wasn't a formidable character. If the goal was to kill, wouldn't it be simpler and more convenient to just take action against her directly?

"Humans, containment."

Before she could think further, the oddball standing like a tree stump at the door spoke again, and this time the meaning was easy to understand.

Are you planning to take her away and contain her? Then why haven't you made a move yet? What's the point of just standing here staring at her?

Oh, no, it can't be called staring. This thing's face looks like an upside-down giant Coca-Cola screen, and whether those two holes on it are eyes is debatable.

"Mon3tr!"

Suddenly, a woman's voice came from outside the door. The tightly closed alloy door of the war room shook violently, accompanied by a loud thud, and a bulge was visible in the middle.

Boom!Boom!Boom!

It was as if something was wielding a sledgehammer and pounding wildly at the door. The bulge on the door became more and more obvious. After reaching a certain critical point, a black blade pierced through the metal and entered the room.

"Wait...don't come in!"

The Originium creature Mon3tr that follows Kal'tsit has been the subject of numerous attempts by the Doctor to study, but each attempt has been rejected.

Kal'tsit's sudden return brought the Doctor a moment of surprise, but he immediately realized that such a violent breakthrough might not be a good thing.

Unlike the dust that permeates the outside world and has been diluted to the point of being almost invisible to the naked eye, this room is now filled with an unknown substance so dense that it has tinged the air with a hazy yellow hue. Who knows what will happen after Kal'tsit forces her way in!

The creature, somewhere between a human and a plant, turned its head, the sound of wood rubbing against each other echoing as its neck twisted, like a wooden sculpture being violently snapped in two.

next second.

The alloy door was forcibly torn open to both sides by four inserted blades, and the ferocious Originium behemoth poked its head in, hissing at the alien.

The dust that filled the room seemed to have found an outlet, or perhaps it was intentionally manipulated by something else, as it all rushed towards the door.

Hey~

The metallic clanging produced a crisp and pleasant sound.

The doctor's fears did not come true. The woman in black robes and white horns slipped through the irregularly torn hole with extraordinary agility. She held a long, narrow black sword horizontally in front of her, the hilt twitching slightly as if it were being drawn from its sheath for a moment before quickly closing again, a bright light emanating from the blade.

It was an invisible light, yet it possessed tangible power, forcefully pushing away all the dust particles with its diffused radiance.

Kal'tsit followed closely behind, her body enveloped in light, forming a thin membrane that kept the dust out.

"Mon3tr, tear it apart!"

The alien standing by the door remained silent, but its original humanoid form had unknowingly become distorted. Dense plant branches sprouted from under its grayish-white skin, and its back swelled up, resembling a blooming flower.

Kal'tsit's pupils suddenly contracted, and she immediately rushed over, pulled the Doctor, who was standing by the window, into her arms, and hid in a corner.

The dark green branches, like steel whips lashing the air, swept erratically in all directions, piercing and tearing apart the nearest solid wood tabletop.

However, its attack did not achieve the desired effect.

At the same time as the dancing branches burst forth, an even brighter radiance erupted, bathing the entire room in a pale gold hue. A semi-transparent, grid-like partition extended from the ceiling to the walls and then to the floor, enveloping the Doctor and Kal'tsit. Even Mon3tr was draped in a faint color, making him even more dazzling.

Ding ding ding ding~

The branches lashed at the septum covering the structure, but it was as if they were hitting steel; they were utterly ineffective.

"A very good ability. This move would be very useful on the battlefield."

The doctor remained remarkably calm. Even as the branches brushed against her, he showed no panic. Instead, he casually reached out and touched the protective layer covering his body, seemingly unconcerned about what was happening before him.

She remains calm, especially during times of crisis; that's the kind of person she is.

"Be careful, I have a bad feeling."

With his hand resting on the sword hilt, Shining narrowed his eyes slightly, his body tense to the limit, taking in everything in the room.

The wildly flying branches couldn't break through her defenses and posed no threat.

However, a faint sense of crisis lingered in her mind, refusing to dissipate, making her dare not let her guard down.

Mon3tr swung its segmented limbs, tearing and shredding large sections of branches. Its two small eyes gleamed with a scarlet light as it pounced, attempting to sever the alien's body as well.

However, just as it pounced, the sharp blades at the ends of its segments were entangled by the fleshy tentacles that emerged from the woody alien body.

A head resembling that of a snake emerges from the flesh, with fine buds intertwined to form its body.

Amidst the blooming wooden petals, a fleshy serpent emerged, a bizarre scene that sent a chill down Flash Spirit's spine, intensifying her unease.

"Destroy it with the strongest attack!"

The Doctor suddenly spoke up and patted Kal'tsit's arm.

"Mon3tr, melt down!"

Never question the Doctor's judgment in battle. Kal'tsit knew this well and issued the attack order without hesitation.

Upon receiving the order, Mon3tr immediately abandoned its attack, curled up, and a dark green light burst forth from the crystalline cracks, unleashing a terrifying energy surge.

"Spell defense isn't exactly my forte..."

Shining frowned slightly, channeling all his power into the shield to weaken the explosive impact to the maximum extent. The light flowing in the room was gradually reduced and compressed to an imperceptible level, barely managing to block the aftershocks of the explosion.

As the dust settled, large cracks appeared in the walls, which were almost collapsed. The woody alien was completely destroyed by Mon3tr's self-destruct attack, leaving only a small piece of writhing flesh in its place.

Under the watchful eyes of Kal'tsit, the Doctor, and Shining, the small piece of flesh grew rapidly at a visible speed, swelling into a large snake composed of blood streaks and flesh buds in the blink of an eye, spreading a dark, crazy, and malicious aura.

Furthermore, the energy within its body is increasing at an incredible rate.

"...A different kind of demon!"

Kal'tsit's face was ashen, and she spat out a few words through gritted teeth, the veins on her clenched hands standing out.

The operations conference room was severely damaged. The commotion attracted the attention of the operatives stationed at the base. Faint cries of alarm could be heard from outside the ruins. The giant snake's aura grew stronger and its body grew larger, crushing and pushing down the crumbling walls before burrowing outside.

The surrounding operators were gathering, and each exclamation made Orochi a little stronger.

The terrifying regenerative ability, the bizarre power unlike Originium Arts, and most importantly—the characteristic that its power increases with each person who knows about it—all point to those alien demons lurking outside of civilization.

For those who truly understand this world, it's no secret.

Those inhuman beings have always coveted the existence of civilization and have invaded more than once. Sargon, Ursus, and Yan Kingdom have all fought against them and repelled them after paying a heavy price.

Why would something like this appear inside the continent, inside the Tower of Babel?

Kal'tsit subconsciously looked at the Doctor in her arms. When faced with this situation, her first reaction was whether the Doctor had secretly conducted some forbidden experiment again.
