She has a slight fever again, and her face is flushed; Momokawa will probably notice.

“You know, I haven’t had much to do lately.”

Momokawa followed Igris, mimicking her by adjusting his collar and putting his hands in his pockets.

"Your body needs some time to recover. If needed, I can try to help take care of you."

"Oh."

Igor couldn't help but laugh, but she knew it was a bit impolite, so she simply looked at Momokawa and laughed again.

"You mean you're going to take care of me?"

"I would probably be happier if you were willing to pay me a salary."

Don't forget, Momokawa itself doesn't have much money.

"Why don't you tell Olivia that she always has more money than she knows what to do with... Achoo!"

Igris's words were interrupted by a sneeze, which made her look both comical and pitiful.

"Your face is as red as if you have a fever, or have you actually started having a fever again?"

"Hmm...maybe, at least I'm much more awake than this morning."

Igris pulled her coat tighter; although she was wearing thick clothes, she still felt a little cold.

She knew it was because of her illness; she was still not better, only appearing to be a little better.

"Olivia and Ling will be here soon, we can just wait here."

Igris stopped near the entrance to the forest. She had to wait for Olivia and Ling to prevent them from getting lost and losing Igris, and then something unexpected might happen.

So she simply sat on the ground, not caring about the dirt, and tried her best to curl herself up into a ball.

This action was strange, and Momokawa watched with some curiosity.

"What are you doing?"

"Try to warm up, I'm a little cold... You can try it too."

Momokawa glanced at the ground and shook his head.

"It's not nice to say it like that, but I am wearing a dress after all."

"I really envy you guys who aren't afraid of the cold."

Momokawa couldn't respond to her. Actually, she was also a little afraid of the cold, but the dress wasn't completely unwarm.

"Ah!"

Igris sneezed again, and her face turned even redder.

Her health is really weak, so going out to find her is not a good idea.

"If you're really cold."

Momokawa pointed to his coat.

Do you need it?

"That probably won't be of much use... but thank you anyway."

Igris sniffed and looked up at the still relatively bright sky.

"Today is a rare sunny day."

It's truly rare, especially in a city like Molkens, which is full of rain and smog. Being able to see the sun and blue sky is already a great thing.

Although the sun wasn't very warm, and the sky wasn't very blue.

"Although this topic is a bit inappropriate, I still want to ask, Igris... are you really planning to live here forever?"

Momokawa leaned against a tree, gazing at the distant horizon, and said softly.

"Your income is enough to allow you to live a very comfortable life, and your wife won't have to worry about your parents' retirement... But I still want to ask, is that really all you plan to do?"

Igris glanced at Momokawa, then looked up at the horizon she was gazing at, and spoke in a heavily nasal voice.

"Isn't that how most people are? Or are you yearning for something else? Poetry and distant places?"

Momokawa withdrew his gaze, looked at Igris who was rubbing her nose, and gently shook his head.

“I do have something I’m searching for, it’s my destiny, but what about you, Igris? What do you think?”

fate.

Iglesias heard the word often, but she doesn't like it as much now.

Can a person's life and goals really be simply attributed to the word "fate"?

She didn't know, but she had seen people who had ruined everything because of fate.

They were living too deliberately; that wasn't what Igris wanted.

Ideals, destiny, or one's own choices.

Igris didn't know, but she always seemed to have a variety of choices.

Do you know what's at the northernmost point of the mainland?

Momokawa shook her head; she had never been to such a place.

"It was an ice field, a desolate land with no people and no sign of life. Besides that, there was the sea, an endless sea."

When Igris talked about the sea, her expression was a little strange. The feeling of being swallowed by the waves still made it hard for her to calm down, but everything around her brought her a completely new and different feeling.

The feeling of being a newborn.

"But I sometimes wonder what lies at the end of the sea."

Igris's gaze also turned to the horizon, to the endless mountains.

"A new continent? A new world, or the ultimate end of everything? I don't know. The ocean has always seemed to be a difficult topic for us, but if I had to choose, I would probably still want to go and see it."

That's why she boarded that ship bound for the New World.

That's why she lost her life in that shipwreck.

"As for why, I can't give any reason. It's probably just because I want to do it."

Not far away, Olivia and Ling slowly appeared in front of the two, followed by the other police officers.

"Like right now, I want to go and help Olivia fulfill her dream of becoming a detective."

Igris smiled, stood up, and patted the dirt off her bottom.

"It won't be long. She can't be a detective forever, and I won't stay with her forever. We both know that."

Momokawa didn't answer, but looked at Olivia who was rushing over from afar and saw her waving at Igris from a distance, and couldn't help but smile.

"Perhaps this is just your own feeling."

"Then let it be my wishful thinking."

Igris held up a finger to Momokawa and put it to her lips, making a shushing gesture.

"At least for now, don't tell her."

"She really likes you. Perhaps she won't find another assistant as satisfactory as you."

"Yes, there will be. No one is irreplaceable."

Igris's words were certain, as if she always knew what she truly needed to do.

She cannot let anything hold her back, and she will eventually return to that ship.

Perhaps this was her fate, but Igris disliked the word.

So, this is her dream.

The Gods' Fool - The Last Knight: Chapter Twenty-Six, The Inescapable Topic of Pets

After Ling and Olivia arrived at the scene, they quickly dispatched people to cordon off the forest and conduct a group investigation. Constantine mingled in the crowd, trying his best to make himself less conspicuous, but he was still discovered and caught by Igris.

Igris was curious about his attitude, but the answer he gave was: he hoped Igris could forget about him and stop telling everyone that she knew a former cult leader.

Igris will never forget this; she can brag about it for the rest of her life.

After the Special Investigations Division and the police launched their investigation, Iglesias left with Olivia in a car, taking Momokawa with her.

Although Olivia didn't particularly like Momokawa, she still thanked him and got off the bus on South Street, disappearing without a trace.

As a result, Igris was taken back to the agency and placed under house arrest.

Olivia won't be letting her leave the room anytime soon.

Fortunately, due to Igris's poor health, the agency has been closed to the public for a while, so she can have some peace and quiet and avoid being harassed in various ways.

Olivia put Igris's first paycheck into her wallet, making Igris's already relatively wealthy funds even more abundant, and even tempting her to make an impulsive purchase.

Unfortunately, there's nowhere else for her to make impulsive purchases.

And so, time slowly passed until October 5th.

……

[Today's Headline: A large number of remains were found in the southern suburbs forest, most of which belonged to missing homeless people; numerous citizens witnessed an armored knight, whose true identity is still under investigation.]

Igris took a sip of warm black tea and refolded the newspaper, trying to poke two holes in it, but Olivia stopped her.

Igris sighed, slumped back in her chair, and lazily glanced at Olivia, who was struggling to figure out how to grill a steak properly so that the surface wouldn't be burnt and the inside raw.

Irving had advised her to give up cooking for a long time, but Olivia seemed to have some obsession with cooking and never gave up learning.

"What are the results of the investigation into the incident in the southern suburban forest?"

Igris glanced at Olivia, who was still busy, and asked casually.

Because of her health condition, she had never left the house, so she didn't know the specifics. On the other hand, Olivia, because she often went out with Ling, knew quite a bit about the situation.

"We discovered the site of the ritual, as well as some cult members who were armed, so it's highly likely they have some connection to the gang. We didn't find anything else."

Without turning her head, Olivia focused intently on grilling the poor steak, failing to flip it over.

That steak looked really good; it's a shame to cook it for her.

"What about that knight? Is there really a knight? I saw in the newspaper that there were eyewitnesses."
