Eh? You want to try the humanoid girl's iron fist too?

Summary:

An unprecedented super cold wave is ravaging New York, and the disaster relief efforts are far from optimistic.

The authorities have lost control of the spread of the contaminated liquid from the collapse; they first created a green tide, and then unleashed the demon.

The drastic deterioration of living conditions has led to a large number of homeless refugees migrating, and Camp David announced this morning that it has entered a state of high alert.

They claim that the "Jupiter" defense system can block almost any attack from the sky, so there is no need to worry excessively about security issues.

Wahler: "These are turbulent times, and our future depends on our decisions."

"Hey, Waller. Protesters have clashed again with JTF forces in New York State, leading to increasing bloodshed. What is the federal government's response?"

"There is no doubt that the world has entered a new Cold War. We may not be able to see the enemy clearly forever, but the enemy certainly exists."

"Mr. President, please answer my question..."

……

Thank you for the invitation. I am "Raphael", the first prototype doll.

I'm in Manhattan, just out of a lockdown area; the signal is bad, and the pollution from the collapse is severe.

Griffin's mission has failed; I'm going to run away.

President, JTF, and secret agents—go to hell! Goodbye.

Book 1: The World Before the Great War: Chapter 1 Missing Person Notice: April Keller

A weary, exhausted woman sat leaning against the mottled wall of the small house, recounting in a tired, calm voice how New York had fallen.

The weather was dry and dusty, and a gentle breeze swept clumps of dust up to our bodies.

The woman flicked the hem of her dress, immediately eliciting a burst of rapid breathing.

She didn't seem to care, and as she spoke, she used her hand to gather the dust to the base of the wall, as if that would make the messy apartment hallway look cleaner.

The humanoid who called himself Raphael NGSW looked at his heavy military boots and involuntarily took a half step back.

She wasn't particularly tall, and although her movements were sharp and powerful, she still looked rather slender compared to the XM250 machine gun strapped to her back and the XM5 short assault rifle strapped to the side of her backpack.

That round, beautiful yet stern face held a certain air that vaguely reminded the woman of her own youth, she thought, then lowered her head and took a deep breath.

Raphael stood silently listening to the woman speak, keeping his eyes on the descending side of the corridor, where two corpses lay at the top of the stairs.

The wall beside the corpse was covered in red handprints, which shimmered in the morning sunlight, making it seem like the end of the world.

Now, in early December, this is the building closest to the lockdown zone. Further on, you'll cross the Williamsburg Bridge, which spans the East River connecting Manhattan and Brooklyn.

Given the current situation, walking into Manhattan seems technically quite difficult.

The woman kept rambling on about her misfortunes, and although Raphael was used to hearing her words, he suddenly felt sad.

Reality is always so despairing and painful; the survivors are always sickly, and every cough makes them breathless.

The two corpses lying downstairs had recently attempted to rob this deserted apartment building.

Now, the two lay there lifeless.

No one called 911, and no NYPD officers came to investigate. All that could be heard were sporadic gunshots in the distance and arguments that sounded like rap.

The woman's words no longer contained condemnation, but despair.

"It's already starting to collapse?..."

Raphael murmured that in the last two days and nights, as she figured out what was happening in Brooklyn, a sadness welled up in her chest, and a complex mix of emotions was compressed into this sentence.

"Then what do you think will happen..." the old lady managed to answer, then began to breathe heavily again.

"Is there anything else you'd like to say?"

Raphael half-pulled back the slide of his pistol, glancing at the gleaming bullets in the ejection port.

"Are you going to Manhattan?" she asked.

“Yes,” Raphael replied, feeling no need to keep her destination a secret from the dying woman.

Her task was to understand the movements of a Ranger reconnaissance unit and find out exactly what they were doing.

A few days ago, they crossed the East River covertly and then contacted the Ranger Command terminal. No one knew what they were doing.

According to information provided by the employer, the unit's mission was not only to protect the assets of Wall Street financial tycoons, but they also had another covert mission.

The claim of protecting assets was just a smokescreen, because the personnel included two Tier-1 combat echelons transferred back from overseas theaters.

"Find them and find out what they're actually doing in Manhattan."

This is what employers require.

“My name is Kellerch, my husband is Felix Kellerch, and my daughter is April, April Kellerch. You might meet her somewhere,” the woman continued with a glimmer of hope.

She looked up and stared into Raphael's eyes. Before she could say anything more, Raphael understood her request.

Her daughter, April Keller, was the woman's sole purpose in the rest of her life.

Although Raphael had explained the situation to her, she still hoped that he might still be alive, perhaps surviving in some shelter.

Ultimately, it's because she loves her daughter.

The woman wasn't blind; she could see the convoy that had crossed the bridge a few days earlier, and she could also see the doctors in their military overcoats.

If Raphael needed to cross the bridge, the woman hoped she could help him find his daughter, Epo.

She didn't answer, nor did she know how to respond.

The woman sitting at her feet continued to ramble on about what had happened after the Black Friday Christmas sales in November, her words revealing sadness and weariness as she recounted the ruined and abandoned streets.

The street names that Raphael was unfamiliar with held special significance for Mrs. Keller.

She knew when and where the houses that were destroyed were built, and when and where the trees that were cut down to make barriers were planted. She regretted all of this.

It's as if she's not talking about a big city, but about her home.

Everything she knew and that belonged to her personally was gone or destroyed there, which caused her great distress.

But she didn't mention her own home at all. As Raphael listened to her, he thought to himself, "The threat posed by the 'Green Currency Virus' seems to be getting worse."

Mrs. Keller was in better condition; the paleness she had shown at first sight had faded, and a healthy rosy glow now dominated her face.

She even had the strength to wipe away her tears with a handkerchief. Her shallow breathing gradually became steady, and she gazed at the person who was willing to listen to her with a long, questioning look. She spoke thoughtfully and with certainty:

"Could you help me find Aibo, please?..."

It was a sudden, intense desire, and her voice even made Raphael shudder.

“Perhaps we will meet, Mrs. Keller,” Raphael replied.

She thought that she might actually meet her by some strange coincidence, a coincidence that seemed impossible in every respect.

—They all have a purpose.

In Raphael's eyes, the woman's condition was already extremely bad, and the sudden improvement was nothing but a smokescreen.

The woman's body temperature has begun to drop and is currently hovering around 35°C, and is still slowly decreasing.

The black humanoid figure before her was approaching the bright white world at an alarming speed, and the girl removed her thermal imaging vision.

This is the stage before a person dies, when organs begin to weaken, various bodily circulations cannot function properly, leading to a slowdown in metabolism, cold hands and feet that spread upwards.

When bodily functions can no longer be maintained, the body will prioritize supplying the most critical core organs, namely the heart and brain, while abandoning less important organs.

At this point, the outward manifestation will be an improved state of mind, a clearer mind, and renewed strength.

The lady's nagging voice soon faded away, and finally the apartment building returned to silence.

Raphael bid farewell to Mrs. Keller and took a deep breath, mimicking a human's gesture, even though she knew that humans did not need oxygen to sustain life.

In her mind, breathing, sweating, pain, eating, and even going to the toilet are all actions to get closer to humans, including the simulation of emotions.

"perhaps?"

Despite saying it depends on luck, the task module automatically generated a corresponding entry: "Missing Person Notice: April Keller".

As I left the apartment building, Grant Avenue became even worse.

The few pedestrians on the street were all in a hurry, rushing to finish what they hadn't done before they were trapped in the city if the lockdown zone expanded.

Book 1: The World Before the Great War: Chapter 2 I Am Not Your Enemy

Do you know what war is?

War is simply life at a faster pace, nothing more.

People die in life, and they die in war, only at different speeds.

……

Raphael walked along Broadway toward the bridge, and one question remained unresolved:

Should she start crossing the bridge while the lighting conditions are still good, or wait until after nightfall, when everyone is tired and exhausted, and then float across the river from under the bridge?

As the android lady walked along the road, she observed the people on the street.

Many people looked unwell, and along the way, we saw quite a few patients coughing so badly they had to curl up.

After rounding another bend, she suddenly saw the place she was heading towards: a bridge with a gentle slope and towering barbed wire fences on both sides.

Seven Humvees equipped with M2HB heavy machine guns were parked near the iron fence. Soldiers wearing respirators and fully armed were pacing back and forth at the bridgehead, while the bridge behind them was filled with all kinds of private cars.

On the other side of the barbed wire fence, the small park below the bridgehead was surrounded by an even taller barbed wire fence, and people in yellow hazmat suits were walking around inside and outside, seemingly doing some kind of survey.

Suddenly, a sense of curiosity arose within her, driving her toward the park.

"Hey, who are you?!" a soldier patrolling the bridgehead shouted immediately. "Stop! Don't move!"

Raphael slowly raised his hands and moved towards the soldiers who had shouted for a halt. They had already raised their M4A1 assault rifles and were ready to fire at any moment.

This reaction is normal. Anyone would tense up instantly when they see a non-friendly armed unit carrying a long gun and having a holster on their leg.
