Occasionally, people would glance at Morion and Fireworks who had just entered, but no one took the initiative to come up and talk to them.
Morion looked around and began to appreciate the tavern's decor.
This place is different from the tavern in the game's Two-Phase Paradise. There are no Phantom Species everywhere, and the decoration is more like the decadent and extravagant feeling of Pinocchio. Some dream bubbles hang on the walls, displaying all kinds of dreams, and bottles with smiley faces are placed on the walls and shelves.
Exaggerated, brilliant, superficial, and flashy but impractical.
As Morion was examining the paintings on the wall, he suddenly noticed out of the corner of his eye that one of the paintings winked at him.
Did you blink?
Moraine immediately turned her head and curiously approached the painting to examine it closely.
It was a portrait of a clown wearing a top hat and with heavy makeup on his face.
He sat in the center of a room, his hands folded on his lap, a pose reminiscent of the Mona Lisa, his gaze directed out of the frame, and a faint Mona Lisa smile on his face.
Unfortunately, the clown stopped moving as Morion approached, as if it had turned into a real painting.
Moraine looked away and turned to the other paintings.
Below the clown painting is a landscape painting.
The painting depicts a warehouse full of wine barrels.
This painting doesn't seem to have anything special about it.
Just then.
Clang.
Suddenly, a trapdoor popped open in the ceiling of the painting, and a heavily made-up clown jumped down from it.
"Oh, don't be in such a hurry."
"Look at you, I only teased you a couple of times, how come you have no patience at all?"
Oh, you can visit each other's homes?
The clown pressed his face against the foreground of the image, looking at Morion.
Morion instinctively looked up at the original portrait of the Joker.
The place is now empty, with only a somewhat monotonous and spacious room remaining.
"Heh heh, you're a newbie, aren't you?" The clown looked at Morion. "Only newbies make that face the first time they enter a tavern."
“You’re quite good at reading people,” Moraine answered his question. “Oh yeah, I’m new here.”
He reached out a hand and touched the picture frame.
"This is my first time entering a tavern."
"Hehehe, I knew it." He let out a slightly neurotic laugh.
"Speaking of which, I heard you came down with a beautiful knight, is that right? Do you also worship the now-dead Idrila?" the clown asked curiously.
"Where did you hear that from?" Morion was more curious about this. "I've only been here for less than half a day."
“You were seen by other ‘paintings’ while you were in line,” the clown said matter-of-factly. “We ‘paintings’ also talk to each other in private.”
"I see." Morion understood, finding the tavern quite interesting.
"So, can a painting in a dream retain the memory of a painting in reality?"
"Haha, what memory can a painting have in reality?" the clown said with a laugh.
“You haven’t answered my question yet, hehe,” the clown continued, “Do you believe in Idris, who is already dead?”
“No, I worship the goddess Idriha, whose eyebrows are unparalleled,” Moraine said without hesitation.
His hand remained on the picture frame as he chatted with the clown.
The clown paused for a moment, thought for two seconds, and then started laughing out loud.
"Haha, you're really funny."
“However, you seem to be a [breeding] traveler as well, don’t you? I can feel the scales on your body,” he changed the subject. “That beautiful knight didn’t kill you along with him?”
“You have a deep misunderstanding of knights.” Morion spread out his free hand.
"Hehe, there's nothing we can do about it," the clown continued, laughing.
"After all, who in this world doesn't judge others based on stereotypes?"
"It's like I'm a clown, so I need to keep laughing and joking, hehehe."
He suddenly leaned close to the picture frame, making a gesture as if he wanted to whisper something.
"I've heard that those who specialize in breeding are very lonely. Is that true?" he asked in a low voice.
“Probably?” Morion tilted his head. “I don’t know. I’ve never seen any other Breeding Walkers.”
"Then tell me?" The clown's face was almost pressed against the picture frame. "Why did you embark on this path of [breeding]?"
“It’s just as you think,” Moraine continued, shrugging.
"Oh..." the clown drawled, "So, would you sleep with a bug in your arms every day?"
"Probably." Morion didn't see anything wrong with it. "How adorable!"
The clown was very friendly and hospitable throughout.
If Moraine didn't actually know what kind of people the Fools were these days, he probably would have really believed he was friendly.
Unfortunately, Moraine kept his hand on the picture frame the whole time, and he knew exactly what the Joker was thinking.
Technique Reversal: Telepathy.
Moraine clearly heard that they wanted to collect his dark history and explore his inner traumas as topics of conversation in the future.
It was exactly as expected...
His fingers tapped lightly on the picture frame.
“Hey? Let me think…” The Joker’s voice returned to normal. “Are you a [breeding] bug, or a masked fool?”
“My God, you don’t actually have that kind of… grand ideal of wishing everyone could be happy and joyful, do you?” he asked.
"It's not that grand," Moraine replied with a smile. "I'm just happy as long as my children are happy."
"Oh, you must be a wonderful mother, hahaha!" the clown laughed.
He said something similar to what Yinzhi had said, but his tone was completely different, making it sound incredibly harsh.
He finally stopped pretending.
“Your voice is really awful,” Moraine commented.
“Hehehe, yeah, quite a few people have said that,” the clown replied in a slightly shrill voice.
He suddenly grinned and shouted at the others.
"Haha, friends, we have a new member and a new joke! Come and welcome him!"
"A giant, humanoid worm that seemed to think of itself as the great Virgin Mary."
The fools around had been watching this direction, and now that someone had taken the lead, they immediately surrounded him.
The frames of the surrounding landscape paintings were suddenly filled with portraits that seemed to have appeared out of nowhere.
"Speaking of which, do you remember that Aha gave all his power to an insect? Hahaha," someone laughed.
"Oh, there really is a similar situation."
"Can insects have a sense of humor?" People around whispered, but their voices were loud enough for anyone to hear.
"Oh my god, is this Aha's masterpiece from back then? Can I get his autograph? Just sign it on the sole of my foot, I'll never wash it off..."
Various sounds came from all directions, mixed with shrill laughter.
"This is what you meant by disappointing me, right?" Morion didn't look at them, but turned to look at Hanabi standing to the side.
"Sigh, yeah." Hanabi sighed. "That's why I told you to prepare yourself mentally."
"But let me make this clear beforehand, they weren't arranged by Lady Hanabi." Hanabi immediately distanced herself from them, "You know, lovely Hanabi would never do such a thing."
“Your words sound a bit like a green tea b*tch,” Morion said, resting his chin on his hand and tilting his head. “If I hadn’t anticipated the atmosphere in the tavern, I probably would have thought you were the one stirring things up behind the scenes.”
How could you say that?
Morion didn't seem to take the Joker's words to heart.
"However, I must say, Lady Hanabi's influence at the tavern is as great as a shoe insole; anyone can step on the people she personally brings."
"If you say that, Hanabi will really be sad~".
"How did you get demoted from Lady Hanabi to Little Hanabi?"
"You were demoted way too quickly."
He truly believed that this was not the work of Hanabi.
After all, the Trail Blazers received similar treatment when they first visited the tavern.
The taverns these days are completely rotten.
This even angered Lady Hanabi so much that she took action on the spot, causing the Fool who led the bullying to evaporate on the spot, leaving only a mask lying on the ground.
Later, when the Pioneers asked Hanabi if the Fool was still alive, Hanabi simply gave a riddle and brushed it off.
She simply said, "This fool lived in a daze, so he can't really be considered alive, and therefore he can't be considered dead either. If no one throws him into the 'Golden Confession Room' and flushes him away, he'll come back to bother me again in two hours."
As for what would happen if it were really washed away.
Fireworks didn't say anything, and the Trail Blazers didn't ask either.
"I just want to ask, do you have any way to get close to the people in the painting?"
"No," Hanabi shook her head. "Even in a dream, it would be difficult to meet the person in the painting."
"After all, he is just a painting."
“I see. So, since this is a dream, if there is a ‘Memory Recipient’ here, they should be able to encounter the people in the painting, right?” Morion asked again.
“Of course, in the world of dreams, powerful memory users are almost omnipotent,” Hanabi replied.
The one who remembers is someone from the Flowing Light and Memory Court.
