530. Angel: Shirley, you really are high and mighty. (indifferent face)

"...So, this is what happened to me."

Angel calmly recounted his entire experience after coming into contact with the Soul Stone.

This includes the entire process of him being pulled into the Soul Stone, his words to Tsuruga, the torment he endured, and finally being rescued by Valentino of Tsuruga Village.

The hotel was very quiet.

"So... your soul has been imprisoned by him, and he's been torturing you terribly?" Hesk looked at this guy who always bickered with him with a hint of pity.

"It hurts so much." Angel hugged his shoulders, trying his best to remain calm, but his voice still trembled slightly as he lowered his head.

Even though my memory has become blurred under his influence, I still remember it very clearly...

What was Angel's greatest sin?

It wasn't that he murdered his father, but rather that he indulged in boundless lust and abused his own body; even his death was caused by an overdose of drugs.

This is a crime that is close to suicide according to the doctrine.

Therefore, his punishment was also very direct: to make him experience the feeling of addiction over and over again, to experience the high he felt but not being able to get the drug, and to experience the whole process of withdrawal symptoms until he died.

His sins were very minor, so he only had to experience them more than seven hundred times to complete his atonement. This is Tsuruga's standard of punishment. There is never such a simple matter as one act of retribution. The irreparable sins committed in life must be repaid a thousand times, even ten thousand times, a hundred million times, or countless times after death to have any meaning!

Even so, such pain is enough to make Angel remember it forever.

"Damn scum!!!" Cherry Bomb slammed his fist on the table in anger, stood up, and roared.

"I'm going to blow that shitty church to smithereens right now and expose all his shameful secrets!!!"

"You'll only die a horrible death if you go there!" Vicky pulled Cherry Bomb back, her face grim as she looked at Cherry Bomb's single eye, which was bloodshot with rage.

"Even disregarding him personally, the number of followers he controls is in the hundreds of thousands, and there are only more!"

Was Vicky angry? Absolutely. The feeling of being so easily betrayed after entrusting someone with your trust is incredibly painful!

But more than anger, Vicky felt confusion and bewilderment—she couldn't understand how Tsurugi could wield such dazzling holy light if he was such a person.

An atmosphere of anger suddenly began to spread.

Everyone in the hotel turned to look at Shirley in horror. At this moment, the princess of hell was completely devoid of her usual silly and cheerful demeanor.

Her golden hair, styled in a bun, fell loose, and the air became restless and hot, filled with the scorching smell of sulfur. The lights began to flicker erratically.

The dark red light rose with her anger and turned into scorching flames. Her face beneath her golden hair also changed, her eyes turned blood red, and sharp horns burst out from her forehead!

She was betrayed!

Betrayed by someone I trusted, admired, and considered a new hope in hell!

"Who does he think he is?!" Shirley roared furiously.

"He wantonly tortures and harms my subjects, my friends! What right does he have? What shamelessness does he have!"

"So, what do you plan to do, little niece Shirley?"

Tsurugi's mocking voice rang out. A portal of light appeared, and Tsurugi slowly emerged. His face no longer wore the feigned kindness and gentleness of the past; only pure mockery and even malice remained.

"Are you going to expose me? Or sue me? Or tell everyone I'm a bad guy?"

Shirley conjured a trident entwined with golden snakes in her hand, which roared as it pierced through Dongjiang.

"You have to call me 'Princess of Hell,' you pig and dog!!!"

"You actually thought of killing me first? That's a great improvement." Tsugumi looked at Shirley, who had pierced her body, and said with a face full of relief.

"But—why didn't you think of this sooner? For example, how could you have used it on him?"

Tsurugi's figure instantly transformed into Valentino's, who, in this moth-like form, looked down at Shirley and mocked her.

"Your Highness, you're putting on a circus show for us again! Hahahaha!"

"Shirley!!!"

Vicky, carrying the scorching flames, rushed forward, grabbed Shirley's waist, and shouted...

"Calm down, you've been misled!!!"

Shirley's breathing quickened as she looked at Tsurugi, who was smiling gleefully in front of her. Sure enough, the next second he transformed into a burst of red petals and vanished from the spot.

"Learning to use violence is a good thing, but you seem to have no idea how to harness the power you were born with."

One, two, ten—the thrushes emerged from a corner of the inn, speaking slowly.

"The hatred in your heart is incredibly immature. Is it the hatred of betrayal? Or the hatred born of anger and humiliation?"

"We trusted you so much!" Shirley gritted her teeth, glaring at Tsurugi with hatred.

"But you have betrayed our hearts!"

"I have never deceived you, not even now. I have never told a lie." Tsuruga walked to Angel's side, pressed his head, and chuckled softly.

"Did I not bring him salvation? Did I not bring him hope? Did I not fulfill the conditions for him to enter heaven?"

“I have done it all. I have fulfilled the results I promised, unlike you—ignorant, reckless, foolish, and arrogant.”

Tsugumi looked at Xia Li's unpleasant expression and said contemptuously.

“Princess of Hell, you claim to save your people, but you know neither how to do it nor the meaning of salvation. You’re just playing house, which you think is cool.”

"I'm saving them!!!" Shirley screamed.

"Ah, what an arrogant and oblivious statement," Tsugumi scoffed, spreading his hands and pointing to the crimson sky outside the hotel, sneering.

“Look at the world outside. How many of your subjects, whom you seek to redeem, are indulging in decadent pleasures? How can you persuade them to willingly step out of their numbing pleasures and throw themselves into a redemption that has no end in sight?”

"You can't deliver the expected results, nor can you respond correctly. You don't even know the meaning of redemption; you just feel—"

Tsugumi carefully considered her words, then became even more mocking.

"You just think that you are the kindest and most beautiful princess because you don't give up on any of the inhabitants of hell, but in reality, your reckless and foolish actions have only made them more desperate."

"I ask you, if even the princess of hell cannot save sinners, what would they think?"

Dongjiang pointed at the silent sinners and shouted.

"They will believe they are truly beyond saving because of your ignorant and incompetent behavior; they will degenerate even more completely because they have lost all faith!!!"

Shirley's breathing became rapid, her face paled, and the bloodshot in her eyes slowly faded.

"No, I didn't, I just..."

Shirley's voice trembled like a withered leaf in the wind as she tried desperately to defend herself.

"You're just ignorant, you're just incompetent, you're just—" Tsurugi said gleefully.

"arrogant."

"Your father believed that humans should have freedom, your mother believed that sinners should have power, and you—believe that every sinner should be able to go to heaven."

“Shirley Morningstar, your arrogance is no less than that of your parents, and you even surpass them! Because you don’t even consider yourself arrogant; you consider yourself humble and great!”

“That’s enough.” Angel looked up at Tsugumi and said softly.

"Martyr, may we leave now? I... want to go to heaven."

“Of course, of course, of course!” Tsugumi greeted Angel with a welcoming smile.

“Wait, Angel—” Shirley reached out to stop Angel, but she stopped and looked at Shirley, her gaze calm yet distant.

“Shirley, you are a good person, you are the only good person in hell,” Angel whispered.

"But—you really are too high and mighty."

Shirley was struck dumb.

“You were born a princess of hell, a member of the royal family, an heir. You have no need to fear the Great Extinction, no need to fear sinners and demons. You have nothing to fear and lack nothing.”

Angel said quietly.

"So the way you stand on your own pedestal, talking nonsense about wanting to save us, is really glaring, really... annoying!"

"You have never truly thought from our perspective, you have never understood the lives of criminals at the bottom of society, and you do not understand our struggles and suffering!"

“The martyr forced me to atone, but I would never have embarked on this path if he hadn’t forced me. I won’t thank him, but I won’t resent him either, after all—he really did take me to heaven.”

After saying that, Angel pushed open the hotel door and left without looking back. Cherry Bomb tried to chase after her, but Alastor used Shadow to bind her so tightly that she could not move.

Before leaving, Tsugumi turned back and glanced at Alastor.

The broadcast demon maintained his usual, utterly fake smile as he looked at Tsugumi and said with a smile...

"It seems you were prepared all along."

"Prepare for war, you sinners," Tsugumi said with utter contempt.

"Your filthy and depraved hell will be purified in my hands, and everything in this world will undergo a complete transformation!"

With a bang, the door slammed shut. Vicky rushed forward to help the distraught Shirley to her feet, whispering in a voice almost choked with sobs...

"Was I really wrong? Was I really arrogant?"

“Of course! You were born noble, so arrogance is your inherent nature!” Alastor’s voice interrupted, as he toyed with the scepter in his hand and grinned.

“But only in this way can one be worthy of the honor of the Princess of Hell, so Your Highness, it is time for you to play your part.” He walked up to Shirley and, surprisingly, knelt down on one knee with a smile.

“Please take the place of your mother and your father and lead us in war against that hated master, Princess Shirley.”

On the television screen, Vox spreads his arms wide, the pixelated head of the TV beaming with a smile as bright as a bank robber who has just successfully robbed a bank. The background features his classic show opening sequence: colorful explosions, a flashing VoxTek logo, and electronic music loud enough to rouse the dead.

"Today we're not going to talk about those boring lordly squabbles—who killed whom, who stole whose territory, how cliché! What we're going to talk about is..."
