There's no conspiracy theory behind it; in fact, it's quite absurd.
His internet is down.
For some inexplicable reason, after he underwent a high-frequency scan of his brain, the lab's network was suddenly cut off!
It wasn't some kind of electronic virus, nor was there any network attack or defense; it was simply that the research institute's network was cut off by someone.
It turns out that disconnecting from the internet is the best way to deal with all the amazing AI or similar things.
Kayaba Akihiko was forced to stay on the research institute's intranet for seven days.
Of course, having lost his physical body, he was completely unaware of this.
He only felt the disconnection from the network and the increase in data; lacking a physical body, he was completely unable to perceive the passage of time.
So even though it was seven days late, he still didn't feel the actual passage of time at all.
But without a doubt, he was extremely anxious.
After all—his announcement was seven days late; surely not all players would have already snapped off their helmets and died by then!
If his dream game were ruined for such a ridiculous reason, Kayaba Akihiko himself didn't know what he would become!
And so, with these feelings in mind, Kayaba Akihiko boarded Aincrad—
Ok?
How come the number of more than 10,000 players has hardly changed?
Are gamers these days so addicted to games? Are they really that fearless?
Kayaba Akihiko thought incredulously, and then he realized that most—or rather, almost 90%—of the players were at a much higher level than he had imagined!
Holy crap, are people this brave these days?
However, when Kayaba Akihiko looked at those 'heroes' in his mind, his expression changed in a very interesting way.
What, what did you do?
P.S.: I'll be limiting updates to two chapters a day for the next two days because I need to control the word count for the book's release on Friday (too many updates would mean it'd be released so early (facepalm)). Anyway, I hope you guys can give me some votes, and I'll be offering a reward after the end of the month—I have plenty of drafts!!!
Having transmigrated, my only purpose is to kill, kill, kill! : 30. Kayaba Akihiko of Red Warmth
In Kayaba Akihiko's vision, his Aincrad should be a place filled with pain, fear, and struggle, where a very few people, driven by courage, transform into heroes.
He doesn't care about most players, treating them only as villagers in a novel. What he wants are a very few, or even the only, brave individuals who go against the tide and challenge him, the great demon king, surrounded by the crowd!
But what does he see now?
There are indeed many players in the wild.
But why do most of the 'players' look the same?
The synchronized movements, the expressionless faces, the mechanical yet precise execution of sword techniques.
That highly efficient resource gathering operation meant that the resources were harvested almost the instant they respawned.
He knew it all too well.
Is it a studio robot, or even a highly sophisticated studio robot?
NERvGear's electronic signal recognition technology has been cracked?! No, there are practically no companies on the market with this kind of technology, almost none...
VOX Technology!!!
Kayaba Akihiko's memories allowed him to immediately identify the suspect!
Only the company that developed the AI technology, with its integrated artificial intelligence trained using super-powerful big data algorithms, has the ability to control so many robot accounts to play games at such a high frequency after deciphering the signals!
Their development direction is completely different from Kayaba Akihiko's. Even Kayaba Akihiko himself cannot clearly say whether what he created can be considered AI in the conventional sense.
But in any case, only this company in the world has developed AI technology that can achieve such a large-scale and accurate calculation simulation!
These bot accounts aren't the cheap scripts from those studios. Look at their precise swordplay, situational awareness, and actions—they're all far superior to those of real people.
Even in games, human neural responses are always subject to a delay of around 0.1 seconds, while AI robots have absolutely no delay issues!
To give an analogy, it's like encountering a script while playing a shooting game or a MOBA game.
The computers that humans can fight are all versions with their computing power deliberately reduced. But any AI of AlphaGo's level, with its computing power fully utilized, would make even the top human professional players look like grandsons in front of it!
Humans can achieve near-invincibility by using their own physical abilities, but AI's abilities are not just cheat codes, they are its own capabilities!
Compared to AI, Kirito's swordsmanship is a complete joke. If no changes are made, the dual-wielding skill that is awarded to the fastest player in the game will almost certainly end up in the hands of a random AI.
One second!
What Kayaba Akihiko saw was a scene that could be described as a painting of hell.
A thousand AI robots are deployed in the wilderness area of the first level, killing monsters and harvesting resources at a speed comparable to a locust swarm.
These AI robots are often accompanied by one or two players. The robots team up with them to share experience, or they simply leave the monster to be finished off by the player.
There are only a few lone real players in the wild, and even if they enter resource-rich areas, they simply can't compete with these AI bot scripts and the players who hire these scripts to protect them.
Haha, the escorts are crushing normal players, the AI is hogging resources in the wild, and the studios are monopolizing game output. Our game is finally getting better!
That day, Kayaba Akihiko recalled—
The fear of being dominated by the Nixon gold farming studios, the economic collapse caused by the influx of studios and freeloaders in just a few months, and the humiliation of being bombarded with countless advertisements on the world channel.
That's not all—
"Does everyone really want to watch this? No problem! Everyone in the live stream is my family, so what are you waiting for? Let's do it!"
A player standing at the edge of Blackrock Palace, near the boundary of the floating city, held a crystal to himself and shouted loudly to the viewers watching the live stream outside the game.
Then he jumped down with a whoosh, respawned five seconds later, and was in terrible shape, but seeing the gifts rapidly increasing in the live stream chat made him beam with joy again.
"Let's go, brothers!"
One player unhesitatingly stuffed what appeared to be feces, labeled as highly poisonous, into their mouth, then looked troubled.
"So fresh, so delicious—ugh!"
"Family members, send more rockets! The streamer will then randomly select a lucky player and force a PK to intimidate him!"
"Thank you, brother. Tachibana loves you~~~"
Those players who weren't out in the wild weren't idle either, because they were all streaming.
Kayaba Akihiko watched as these players engaged in all sorts of hilarious livestream antics: some were doing Akaishi-style antics, some were committing suicide, some were threatening others in PvP battles, and some were even performing cyber-themed striptease in the town area.
Inside Aincrad, which Kayaba Akihiko built to realize his ideals, outside the city were his studio and escorts, while inside the city, he was doing an abstract live stream.
Quack!
Nonsense! Damn it, you guys, you can't do this!
My Aincrad! My floating castle of dreams! My Sword Art Online Fantasy!
Although digital life forms don't have body temperature, Kayaba Akihiko is completely red-hot!
Seeing his ideal 'dream world' being completely crushed by a group of studios, Kayaba Akihiko was so angry that he was almost driven to insanity!
My world! My fantasy! My dream of another world!
These damn studios, I'll kill you a thousand times over, and that still won't be enough!!!
We must strike hard!
GM power, activate!!!
Just as Kayaba Akihiko was about to unleash his full power on these AIs, perhaps even performing a massive rollback and reset, suddenly—
Everything before his eyes suddenly went dark. In this boundless cyberspace, countless television screens filled everything he could see!
This infinite realm was replaced by an infinite number of televisions, and on countless television screens, the same cartoonish shark-tooth smiley face appeared.
"Hahahaha, how does it feel to see your cherished dream and games tainted by the stench of capitalism?"
Kayaba Akihiko's first thought was that he had been hacked. He tried to use his highest level of authority in Aincrad to expel the uninvited guest, but found no response.
His heart sank, and then he realized that his important 'thing' was gone!
"This isn't what you're looking for, is it?"
Inside a television, as black data surged, a strange-looking young man appeared before him with a smile.
What he held in his hand was a golden oval-shaped object, resembling both an egg and a seed.
The seed
Seeds of the World
Seeing his most precious possession taken away like this, Kayaba Akihiko couldn't help but show an expression of extreme anger, but then he looked at Tsugumi, and after thinking about something, his expression suddenly changed.
He recognized the man before him—Tsugumi, the owner of VOX Technology. But now, Kayaba Akihiko felt—he might not be a person at all.
"What a terrible game you made."
Tsuruga tossed the seeds in her hand and said cheerfully
"However, it is very suitable as a prison cell."
......
Is Sword Art Online a good game?
As a game, especially an online game, it's absolutely terrible.
Putting aside its status as the first virtual reality game, this game can be described as Kayaba Paradise, created by Akihiko Kayaba in pursuit of his dream, disregarding basic game logic. It is essentially a prime example of forcibly turning a single-player game into an online game.
In terms of gameplay alone, the A.MMO mode he chose is not a bad mode, but removing magic-related elements and almost all ranged attack methods has already eliminated a part of the player experience.
If this alone can be considered as filtering for a specific player group, then the game's 'sword skill' system is nothing short of a mess.
Kayaba Akihiko's idea may have been to create a realistic world of swords and knives, but he couldn't bring himself to actually create a game that was completely close to reality.
His games still can't escape the basic framework of red and blue bars, the issue of attribute point skills, and the problems with sword skills as a skill system itself.
Different weapons require specific poses to correctly unleash their skills, and the complex judgment criteria for defense and counterattacks seem wonderful, but Kayaba Akihiko's creation is precisely an RPG game.
Most of the special control effects of the 'sword skills' he designed were almost ineffective against most non-humanoid monsters, especially against bosses, and yet the game he envisioned was a purely PVE-oriented game.
So in the end, this sword skill system in the hands of players still degenerates into simply repeating the skills with the highest numerical values or the highest monster-killing efficiency. And even without a priest, it still can't escape the basic warrior-mage-priest framework, making this game still a game where the tank holds the line and the DPS works hard to draw cards.
