The green liquid contained filamentous substances, the blue bottle had tiny crystals at the bottom, and the golden bottle looked like melted maltose, slowly and heavily clinging to the glass wall.
As he stared intently at the three bottles, a low sigh came from the sofa.
"finish watching?"
Richard opened his eyes, stretched, and his shoulder joint made a loud click.
I fall asleep quickly and wake up quickly too.
Ivan walked over and handed him the letter.
"Senior brother, can you take a look? Is this old bastard deliberately trying to seduce me?"
"Pretending to be a dying man who speaks only good words, to trick me into going against his enemy?"
Richard took the letter and read it by the light of the kerosene lamp.
His chestnut eyes scanned the text quickly, reading ten lines at a time, much like Evan used to read online novels.
After reading it once, he placed the letter on his lap and began to speak.
"His statement about the incident is correct."
"Sap, the factory owner. Chairman of Sap United Mining. A graduate of Sage University, an outstanding figure in the alumni directory."
He tapped Sap's name on the letter with his thumb knuckle.
"For many years, there have never been any work-related accidents in the mines under his name, yet the mining efficiency is unbelievably high."
"You can tell there's something fishy about this without even looking at it."
“He certainly has the ability to get Priss into the University of the Wise.”
"I've heard of the Theosophical Society. It's an organization that pursues mystical knowledge and spiritual awakening."
"On the surface, it is a salon for intellectuals, mainly composed of the middle class, with more than 10,000 members, but it contains a strong element of cult worship."
"Henry Alcott was one of the founders. But whether he himself was a superhuman, I don't know."
He paused for a moment, then turned his gaze back to the letter.
"As for your ancestors... that's a big question. I'll go to the University of Michigan to inquire about it for you when I have time."
He then scanned the letter from beginning to end to make sure no details were missed.
"There are basically no problems."
He folded the letter and handed it back to Evan.
“I know Pris. He’s an old-fashioned aristocrat. Arrogant, stubborn, reserved, and concerned with his image, he considers himself to be of noble character.”
“Such a person, when dying at the hands of an enemy, will not lie to us about such things.”
"Just as he said, you are the prey, and Sap is the enemy."
Upon hearing this, Ivan's tense shoulders finally relaxed a little.
He deactivated his demon hunter form, his golden vertical pupils faded back to their normal black, and his silver-white hair quietly returned to jet black.
He handed over the potion that Pris had left behind.
“Senior brother. I’ve drunk from these two bottles, one of blood and one of night demons, but they’re different from the usual ones, they’re thicker. I haven’t tried the rest.”
Richard took the medicine bottle, picked out the gold one, unscrewed the wax seal, and sniffed it.
He was quite shocked and said:
"It seems to be a new drug, and it's actually the parent drug!?"
Ivan was taken aback: "The mother medicine?"
Richard nodded: "Yes, the parent sample that has been successfully developed and tested can be used to easily identify all its components and preparation methods."
"Normally, potions can't be reverse engineered, but this one can."
"It seems that Pris is indeed going to fight to the death, leaving such a precious thing to you."
"If you trust me, I'll take it back and analyze the ingredients, then we can mass-produce it in the future."
He laughed happily as he spoke: "Haha, junior brother, you really are our lucky star!"
"It will help you awaken your powers, and you'll also get to know the recipes for several new potions!"
"This is the most profitable operation I've had in my nine years as a Witcher."
Ivan smiled rather nonchalantly.
"You saved my life, it's all my duty."
Chapter 52: Barefoot People Aren't Afraid of Those Wearing Shoes
Richard casually stuffed the five medicine bottles into the inside pocket of his jacket and patted his chest to make sure they were safe.
Then he pointed to the wooden chair opposite the sofa.
"Come here and sit down. Let me tell you about the rules you need to follow from now on."
Evan obediently sat down, his back straight, looking serious.
Richard extended his right hand and raised one finger.
"First, don't provoke the official superhumans. Getting targeted by them will cause a lot of trouble."
"If you have the ability and charm to build a good relationship with them, it's a good choice."
Ivan nodded.
"Then how do I identify it?"
Richard chuckled.
"No need to identify it. You'll recognize it when you see it."
“Those guys are so proud of their status that they practically want to have ‘I’m an official’ written all over their foreheads.”
The second finger.
"To gain more knowledge, you need to come into contact with more monsters."
"Witch hunters aren't made by reading books; they're forged through countless life-or-death battles."
"You know how chaotic this city is, but a significant part of it is caused by inhuman beings."
"I'll give you a letter of introduction. You can take it to the tavern and find some jobs hunting monsters."
"While increasing my professional knowledge, I can also earn some extra money."
"As for danger, you don't need to worry too much. Your professional instincts will tell you what you can and can't fight."
Ivan nodded vigorously.
"it is good."
The third finger.
"Don't transform in front of ordinary people. Be prepared to conceal your identity before taking action."
Richard's tone became unusually serious.
"The higher-ups can allow outlandish thieves in strange costumes, but they won't allow supernatural phenomena to manifest in front of ordinary people. That's the deadline."
“If you violate this rule, you will be subject to legal penalties set by the Supreme Court. The consequences will be very serious.”
Ivan felt a chill run down his spine and mentally repeated the rule twice.
The fourth finger.
"The last one."
Richard's tone carried a hint of helplessness.
“We often receive mandatory deployment orders from the authorities. In some dangerous and malign supernatural events, they use us as cannon fodder to scout ahead.”
"If you encounter this situation, run if you can. If you can't run, spend money to bribe them. If they are uncooperative, then beat them up badly."
Ivan frowned.
"The first rule... isn't it supposed to be not to provoke them?"
Richard countered with a question.
"Trouble or life, which is more important?"
"life."
Richard nodded.
"If you encounter someone you can't beat, then you can only accept your bad luck."
Evan sensed a sense of helplessness that had been suppressed for many years in that last sentence.
He didn't ask any further questions, but carefully reviewed the four rules in his mind.
Then he remembered something else.
"By the way, senior brother."
"The reason my tram was late today is because a rich girl stopped me when I was leaving school."
"She invited me to be her bodyguard tomorrow to a football game in New Haven. I always had a feeling this guy had something to do with Price."
Richard raised an eyebrow.
Tell me more.
Evan recounted the entire story of his several encounters with Elting, starting with Gilbert's outburst on the playground a few days earlier.
Richard listened and hummed in agreement.
"There should be a connection. But the fact that the girl can see sunlight means that she is not a bloodthirsty race."
He tapped the coffee table with his knuckles.
"Generally speaking, situations where coincidences and the timing of events can be calculated so accurately usually involve the involvement of a prophet."
"This girl might be someone Pris is using, not necessarily an accomplice."
