"We've arrived. The fortress of the Round Table is just ahead."
With the divine beasts serving as their mode of transportation, Cursed Arm and Bedivere saved a lot of time, arriving at the Round Table's fortress in just one day.
At a glance, there were about a dozen people patrolling the city wall, but they were all ordinary soldiers.
"It seems the soldiers here are on high alert. Has news of the Knights of the Round Table's defeat reached us?"
Hassan the Cursed Arm went ahead to scout the surrounding area near the city wall, and the considerable size of those divine beasts couldn't be concealed.
"Yes, given the failure of the Round Table, both the fortresses here and the Holy City should be on higher alert."
"But we weren't planning to sneak in anyway. Let's just attack head-on. The soldiers can't stop the divine beast's power. At least most of the knights inside the fortress would need to be mobilized to hold me off. Then, I'll ask Hassan to sneak into the cage and release the people we need to rescue."
Bedivere reached out and began to command the mythical beasts beside him, instructing them to prepare for an attack.
"Leave this to me. I'll climb over the city wall and get in first."
Hassan of Cursed Arm nodded and immediately merged into the darkness, heading towards the fortress.
"Conquered divine beasts, in the name of Marduk, destroy the fortress ahead and draw all eyes and attention!"
Bedivere raised the stone tablet on his chest, and the divine beasts let out terrifying roars, then charged forward in a frenzied manner.
"What's going on? Have some monsters from the desert come out? What should we do?"
Upon hearing the terrifying sounds emitted by the mythical beasts, the soldiers patrolling the city walls were thrown into a state of panic.
"Calm down!"
Only when a knight arrived and roared did their fear subside.
"Prepare for battle! These aren't ordinary magical beasts, but rather extremely high-level monsters!" Hiss.
The alarm sounded quickly from within the fortress, and the knights and soldiers inside awoke, grabbed their weapons, and rushed towards the city walls. (8)
The deafening roar was enough to awaken the fortress, but what followed was a sound that shook the entire fortress.
The colossal storm demon Ugalru, carrying a storm within it, slammed into the fortress walls. 2
Soldiers who lost their footing even fell directly from the city wall, torn to pieces by the mad dogs and scorpion-men below.
The knights' first wave of attack was also completed at this time; a continuous rain of arrows felled from bows as tall as themselves, and various defensive weapons were also hurled at them.
While the city walls were bustling with activity, Hassan the Cursed Arm sneaked deep into the fortress to find the location of the prison cells.
Chapter Nineteen: Gluttony Thorn
Without the formidable defenses of the fortress walls, the hastily assembled soldiers and knights would likely have already been overthrown.
What arrives before us are not the sons of Tiamat, who, after being conquered, transformed from calamities into guardians and became benevolent beasts. 4
Instead, there still exists savagery and destruction, with monstrous creatures howling and shattering the land with darkness and death.
The venom that Bashium spewed was enough to kill any warrior who came into contact with it.
The arrows fired from the scorpion-man's bow pinned the arriving knights one by one to the wall.
The terrifying demonic bull continued to ram the fortress gates, and the thick gates, after only a few impacts, already showed signs of weakening.
The demonic lion that manipulates the storm brings death to the city walls just as it did when it became a servant of the underworld.
Only the mad hounds caused slightly less damage, as they were stopped by the knights in formation, but closely following the hounds were the terrifying lion-dragons.
The mere sound of his roar instilled fear in the soldiers present, and the fear grew ever stronger in those who witnessed his appearance.
If the fortress hadn't been more vigilant and the knights hadn't been less lax, allowing them to assemble quickly, the fortress's defenses would probably have been breached by now.
But now the knights have no choice but to retreat from the outer walls, abandoning the outer walls and defending the inner walls instead.
"These are monsters comparable to the Sun King's Sphinxes; we cannot deal with them without the adults of the Round Table."
The fortress did possess defensive weapons used to protect against the Sphinx, and after abandoning the outer walls, the knights were able to gradually stabilize the defenses and completely solidify them.
They were able to hold out for a while, at least not too quickly, and sent out signals for help in the hope that the Knights of the Round Table might arrive.
Hassan, the Cursed Arm, searched inside the fortress, finding nothing on the surface, and then discovered the passage leading to the underground.
This didn't take too much time; for Hassan, both searching and finding the way were quite easy.
After all, the structure of the fortress can be roughly figured out after observing it from the outside. Where there might be cells can be found with a simple search, which can be completed in just a few minutes.
"Hmm... This place wasn't built by the Knights of the Round Table; it seems to be an ancient relic that was simply preserved and used."
The underground dungeons in the fortress appeared quite ancient, deep and secluded places that had been directly excavated, and contained quite a few not-so-wonderful things.
It appears that the Knights of the Round Table haven't really cleaned this place; they've just been using it as a temporary prison.
However, it is true that the Round Tables do not really need cages.
Most of the prisoners were executed when the Knights of the Round Table arrived, and Agravure of Iron did not recognize any Servants other than the Knights of the Round Table.
The underground space inevitably condenses some undead and the like, but some undead are not enough to stop Hassan.
“Secret passage… (8) We found a Servant. Hmm? (7) It’s a man. (6) This shouldn’t be the person Lord Bedivere needs to rescue, but he is a Servant. If we can recruit him, he would be a good asset.”
After passing through the underground prison corridor and finding no trace of any living creature, Hassan quickly found a secret passage to the side. Walking into the passage, he saw the servant being guarded by a giant stone spirit.
The man, who seemed quite energetic at the time, still wore an innocent smile in his cell despite being imprisoned here. Judging from his exposed, strong body, he must have been a martial arts follower.
However, we should get down to business first. Since we don't know which side the other side is on, we should rescue the people who need to be rescued first, and then try to negotiate with them to avoid any accidents.
Therefore, Hassan bypassed the stone elves guarding the passage and continued deeper into the secret passage.
Further ahead in the cell were two imprisoned girls. Cursed Wrist stealthily circled around in the darkness and got behind them.
“Gentlemen, I am here with Lord Bedivere to rescue Hassan the Cursed Arm, who is imprisoned in this fortress. You must be the friends Lord Bedivere mentioned who are imprisoned here.”
“Bedwell first: Yes, I am Fujimaru Ritsuka, who is traveling with Mr. Bedwell. This is Mash over there. Please help me, Mr. Cursed Arm. Infiltrating the fortress will probably be quite troublesome.”
Fujimaru Ritsuka nodded slightly and spoke in a very soft voice.
"Lord Bedivere is drawing the attention of the knights inside the fortress. Apart from the elves used as guards, there's not much power here, otherwise I wouldn't have been able to sneak in. Do you still have the strength to stand up?"
Hassan, the Cursed Arm Man, humbly released Fujimaru Ritsuka from her captivity.
“No problem. Although I’ve been imprisoned here, I haven’t been mistreated too much these past few days. The knights have been doing their best to torture Miss Hassan in the cell further ahead.”
Fujimaru Ritsuka didn't seem to have too many problems. She moved around a bit while holding onto the wall behind her, and was able to stand up and walk again.
“Great, then please rest here for now. I will go and rescue the other Hassan who is imprisoned here, and then I will come back to meet you and we will escape from here together.”
Having received the message from Jingmi directly, Hassan nodded happily, put Mashu down, and then disappeared back into the darkness, heading towards the cage further ahead.
"How come undead have suddenly appeared here? Surely the soldiers of the Round Table aren't that careless?"
But not long after leaving Fujimaru Ritsuka and Mashu's cage, undead monsters emerged from the surrounding walls. Although they were not a great threat, they still puzzled Hassan.
But the most urgent task at hand was to rescue Jingmi, so Hassan didn't dwell on it any further and instead focused all his energy on moving forward.
Near the end of the secret passage on the right, there was a closed iron door. Cursed Arm quickly opened the door, and Serenity Hassan was imprisoned in this cell.
Tranquility was chained to the wall, surrounded by various instruments of torture, with blood splattered on the ground.
"...Who is it?...Haven't...given up yet...? Give up, neither pain nor poison...is of any use..."
Silent Hassan appeared to be delirious from the torture instruments. When he heard someone enter, he only muttered to himself and didn't even bother to look up.
"...No, there's no need for that. It's amazing you've managed to hold on this long, Tranquility."
"You are...from Higashinomura...?"
Upon hearing the familiar voice, Silent Hassan struggled to lift his head, trying to recall his jumbled memories.
"Let me untie your chains. You've done very well. Tranquility, there's no need to be on guard anymore."
Cursed Wrist quickly stepped forward, intending to untie Tranquility from her binding chains. Qiu
"No...don't let go of me...!"
But the serene Hassan shook his head violently, and despite his weakened state, he suddenly mustered the strength to express his refusal to the cursed watch.
“Go…kill me, then hurry up and go…I can’t be saved…” (8)
The silence that followed left Cursed Wrist confused. His delirious state prevented him from uttering many complete sentences, making it difficult for him to express his meaning. (iv)
"Would we be discovered if I put you down?" Part 2
Even Hassan with the Cursed Arm could only guess in a general direction to get a quiet answer from Qiu.
"Yes...it is..."
Jingmi seemed to ponder for a moment, gave a difficult reply, and then remained motionless, not even raising her head. 5.
"It's alright, I've brought reinforcements to rescue you. After we've rescued you, I'll signal him to clear a path for us."
The term "Cursed Arm" likely refers to chains or some kind of magical spell that would trigger an alarm after the release of Silence. However, their intention wasn't to completely infiltrate and rescue the person; they were already planning a direct assault. Sending the Cursed Arm here was simply to find the person first.
With this in mind, the cursed arm felt less pressured. A pre-prepared cloth was laid on the ground, and then the serene Hassan was untied from the chains.
Silent Hassan, as if expending considerable effort in his previous actions, remained motionless with his head bowed. As the chains were released, he fell onto the cloth on the ground.
He wrapped Jingmi's wrist with cloth again, and with that, he took her with him, preparing to leave the cell to meet Fujimaru Ritsuka.
Boom——
Just as Hassan of Cursed Wrist and Hassan of Tranquility were leaving, a terrifying rumble resounded from the depths of the underground passage not far from them.
As the violent sound rang out, the earth began to shake violently, causing damage to the fortresses on the ground.
Although he didn't understand what had happened, the situation was clearly irreversible. Looking at the constantly shaking passage and falling rocks around him, Curse Wrist quickened his pace.
Fujimaru Ritsuka and Mashu had emerged from their cells and were waiting for Hassan the Cursed Arm.
"We can talk about anything else outside. It's hard to say how long this place will last before it collapses."
"Ah."
Before Cursed Arm Hassan even reached them, he shouted loudly, and the two girls quickly nodded and started running towards the exit.
"Phew, I'm so hungry, I don't have any strength at all."
A fierce battle was taking place in the tunnel ahead. The burly man they had seen earlier had broken free of his chains and was fighting the guardian of the secret passage.
Although the man carried a large bow on his back, he was actually engaging in hand-to-hand combat with the spirit whose body was made of stone, using only his bare flesh.
"It looks like we can't get through without their help. Mashu, engage!"
The giant stone spirit blocked the exit of the secret passage, forcing Fujimaru Ritsuka to stop and give Mash the order to fight.
