After driving for a while, she said to the other end of the phone, "Damn, I'm almost there, I have to hang up now, honey, I'll call you back later."

The woman parked the car in the woods and had just gotten out when she heard a voice say, "Extra?"

Startled, she turned around abruptly and saw a striking blonde woman in a white dress standing behind her.

The blonde woman apologized to her: "I'm sorry, I have a bad habit of sneaking up on people. I'm the casting director, and you're here to participate in the performance, right?"

"Oh, right, I'm an extra, Nancy. She said on the phone that she'd arrive at 12, right?"

The woman's name was Nancy, and she was an unknown extra.

Nancy shakes hands with the blonde woman.

The blonde woman nodded and replied, "Yes, but you have to leave your phone behind. We're filming in complete secrecy."

Nancy said she understood, "Of course, you don't mind the coffee in my hand, do you? I need to stay awake, otherwise I might fall asleep."

The blonde woman smiled and said, "Don't worry, we'll keep you sober."

After Nancy parted ways with the blonde, she walked deeper into the woods.

Meanwhile, she kept complaining to herself: This damn film crew actually chose such a remote state park as the location; I've heard it's not very safe here.

Deep in the woods, she saw a group of extras just like herself.

There were also crew members such as cameramen and lighting technicians.

Looking at the eerie environment around her, she felt increasingly uneasy.

Suspecting she had been scammed, she was about to ask her colleagues for their opinions.

Unexpectedly, a guy who looked like a production assistant and was holding a megaphone shouted at the top of his lungs, "Exxon!"

Before she could react, she was pushed and scattered by a group of people.

"What the hell?!"

Even though this is an escape scene, didn't the director give the actors any instructions?

Should we just take off and run away like that?

Somewhat bewildered, she followed the crowd and ran outside.

Soon she heard what sounded like something was chasing her.

And that thing was getting closer and closer to me.

An eerie, chilling aura enveloped me, making it hard to breathe.

what is that?

Terrified, she no longer treated this as a play; her heart filled with fear, she ran forward with all her might.

"Huchi! Huchi!"

She ran until she reached a secluded spot deep in the woods, where she stopped and gasped for breath, clutching her knees.

Sweat soaked her makeup and dripped down her cheeks.

She looked up and saw a dark shadow flash by in the woods.

Immediately afterwards, a scream came from behind the bushes.

She immediately held her breath in tension, afraid to even breathe too loudly.

Chapter 101 Willingly Removing the Mask, or Falling in Love

"Wow!"

Crows flew out of the woods, startling countless fallen leaves.

Standing on the rooftop of Mount Sinai Hospital, Peter suddenly looked up and gazed into the distance.

The view was blocked by layers of buildings, and turned towards the shadowy, indistinct mountains.

Turning his gaze away, Peter stood at the edge of the rooftop, the mask on his face slowly fading away.

He did not find the body of the deceased that Dr. Lane had mentioned at the hospital.

He searched through the catalog of corpses in the morgue but found nothing.

Did the hospital really dispose of the body?

He rested his chin on one hand, lost in thought.

Below him, in the dark alley, a stray cat rummaging through a trash can for food seemed to have noticed something and looked up.

"Meow!"

The cat, making curious noises, tilted its head, puzzled, as it watched the shadow flash overhead.

"Oh!"

The black shadow landed on the top of the building with its feet, and like a lazy cat, its hands detached from the ground.

Beneath her silver hair, her eyes gleamed in the night.

Standing on the rooftop, looking down at the buildings below, the dark figure leaped forward.

As her body plummeted, she grabbed a metal bar across the wall and swung onto the balcony with a standard gymnastic move.

The balcony was enclosed on the outside, and inside was a jewelry company.

The shadowy figure casually placed the device on the bulletproof glass, then pressed the middle part and drew a circle around the glass, creating a circular notch.

She reached in, turned on the security door switch, and easily entered.

After entering the room, the shadowy figure walked to the safe and used the instrument to operate it, quickly opening the safe with its assistance.

The safe contained gleaming jewelry, and a slight smile appeared on the lips of the dark figure.

She successfully put the jewelry into her pocket, and just as she was about to leave, she turned around and saw a guy standing in front of her.

"Do you like being startled like that, Parker?"

The shadowy figure was not surprised by Peter's appearance; she took a step back.

Peter said calmly to the shadowy figure, "Perhaps I have a good habit of sneaking up on people."

The jewel thief in front of us is undoubtedly Black Cat.

"This may be a habit of excellent hunters, but I am not the prey."

Peter looked at her with feigned surprise, "Aren't you one?"

The black cat shrugged. "Of course not. I'm a hunter, but good hunters always appear as prey, so some people get confused."

As she spoke, she walked toward Peter. "I've heard about your recent exploits. You fought a monster and almost destroyed the Brooklyn Bridge. Now you're a superhero that everyone is talking about."

"By the way, is your girlfriend Spider alright? I heard she got badly beaten up by that green monster."

The black cat was as sharp-tongued as ever.

"She's fine, thank you for your concern."

Peter ignored her taunts and asked her, "Are you planning to steal these things?"

"Are you going to stop me, Parker?"

"Do not."

Peter shook his head. "I'm not very interested in playing the role of a champion of justice, but you probably won't get away with it easily."

"I know."

The black cat walked up to Peter, put his hand on his shoulder, and said in a lazy tone, "There's a tracking device in here. I just want to see if I can do as well as you even with that."

Do you know what happens when a cat is curious?

Peter instinctively grabbed the black cat's outstretched paw.

The other party, like a curious cat, stretched out its paws and started scratching at itself.

"Yes, but I know how to win by surprise."

As he spoke, the black cat broke free from Peter's hand, went behind him, and grabbed him by the neck.

Peter, who was being strangled, grabbed the other person's arm and slammed him to the ground.

The black cat's back slammed onto the ground with a "thud".

Because Peter didn't use his full strength, the black cat wasn't injured.

With her back pressed against the ground, she didn't resist. Instead, she looked at Peter above her and asked, "You didn't come here to capture me, did you?"

"Or do you want to talk to me about something else?"

Peter looked down at the black cat, who was striking a sexy pose, and asked her, "Have you heard about the monsters that have been appearing in Bear Mountain lately?"

The black cat sat up from the ground. "Is this all you wanted to talk to me about?"

"So what do you want to talk about?"

Black Cat showed a regretful expression, but her pale yellow glasses couldn't hide her alluring eyes. "I just thought we should get along quite well, and I thought you wanted to talk to me about life."

Peter frowned. "Talk to you about life?"

"Of course, although I didn't bring any red wine or cheese."

The black cat stood up, leaped backward, and sat on the edge of the rooftop, crossing its left leg.

“I’m sorry, I don’t plan to talk to you about life for the time being, Miss Hardy.”

“Miss Hardy? We’re not allowed to be too intimate when we’re wearing masks, but I forgive you.”

The black cat, without batting an eye, accused Peter of being overly affectionate.

Seeing Peter's impatience, the black cat steered the conversation back on track.

She leaned back a little while sitting on the edge of the rooftop and said to Peter, "I have indeed heard of the Bear Mountain Monster you mentioned, but many people consider it an urban legend."

"Urban legend?"

"Yes, just like the 'Black Cat' is now considered an urban legend, people always consider things beyond their understanding as impossible or the result of rumors, and then comfort themselves by saying, 'It's just a prank by bored people.'"

The black cat shifted its long, raised leg, its intense gaze fixed on Peter. "Here's a free tip for you: quite a few people have gone missing in New York recently."
