Uncle Ben took off his hat and said to Vice Principal Morton with a serious expression.

“We’ll figure it out, don’t worry, Mr. Parker.”

Morton smiled at Uncle Ben. "I remember who Peter is now. He's Richard's son. It must be him."

He didn't know Peter before, but now that he sees Uncle Ben, he realizes Peter's identity.

With an apologetic smile, Vice Principal Morton said, "There are too many students in the school. In four or five years, they will all be different. You might call a boy by his brother's name, and so on. There's nothing we can do about it."

Then he glanced at Peter and said with emotion, “It’s quite a strange feeling when you see a child who looks familiar and then realize that his father was one of your first students. Richard used to be my student, and I remember him very well. He once built a rocket chair in class to send his classmates to the moon.”

"Ahem, we've gotten a bit off-topic. Let's get back to the main point. The police have already come by. They want Peter to come in for questioning. Going to the police station alone, I think a kid like him might need his family's company."

Morton explained to Uncle Ben why he had called the two men to the school.

"Thank you, Mr. Morton."

Uncle Ben grasped Vice Principal Morton's hand tightly to express his gratitude.

Aunt Mei thought the vice principal would be difficult to talk to, but when she heard him say that, she came up to thank him.

"Peter, what exactly happened?"

After Aunt May finished speaking with Vice Principal Morton, she came up to him and asked him with concern.

“Josh Robb was found dead in the storage room. I had a conflict with him before.”

Peter gave Aunt May a brief explanation.

"Oh my God, this is such a misfortune!"

Aunt May said sadly, "None of us want to see this happen."

"Knock! Knock! Knock!"

Aunt Mei was about to say something when there was a knock on the door.

Vice Principal Morton opened the door, and a policeman was standing outside.

Gwen was standing nearby, her anxious gaze fixed on the doorway.

“Vice Principal Morton, I am George Stacy, Commissioner of the New York Police Department.”

George introduced himself to Morton.

Gwen saw Peter and, ignoring her father, quickly walked towards him.

Peter, are you alright?

"I am fine."

“I called my father and asked him to come over. You’ll be alright.”

Gwen seemed even more anxious than Peter, and spoke with a slight wheezing in her voice.

Peter's gaze fell on the fine beads of sweat on Gwen's nose, and his usually composed expression began to shift slightly.

"Don't worry, Gwen, this has nothing to do with me. The police will find out and everything will be fine."

He explained a few words to Gwendo.

"I believe you."

Gwen spoke to Peter with a firm tone.

the other side.

Vice Principal Morton was talking to George.

He explained to the police chief the altercation that had occurred between Peter and Josh the day before Peter disappeared.

"It's not a conflict!"

Upon hearing Morton's words, Gwen suddenly could no longer contain herself, stormed up to him, and stood before him.

"They've been bullying Peter all along."

“That time Peter fell asleep in the classroom, Billy smeared peanut butter on his head; stuck his leg out in the hallway and tripped him; knocked books off his desk; stuffed tanned postcards into his bag; and once King Kong even carved the word ‘nerd’ on his desk.”

"All of this was their humiliation, mockery, and malice toward Peter, simply because Peter was a good person who was not good at socializing, simply because Peter did not argue with them."

Gwen's pent-up anger finally reached a breaking point and erupted.

"And you teachers all pretend not to see it, or like Miss Del, think all students are good children."

Gwen became increasingly agitated as she spoke, "Now that Josh is dead, you're suspecting the person he bullied countless times, just because they fought back one last time. All of this is illogical and unfair!"

Gwen's sudden outburst stunned everyone in the room.

George Stacy stared at her daughter in astonishment, then glanced at Peter beside her, and vaguely understood what was going on.

Uncle Ben and Aunt May looked at Vice Principal Morton with disbelief. They could never have imagined that their nephew had been bullied like this at school.

Peter was taken aback at first, then his expression changed slightly.

Although these experiences were all those of the original owner, a warm feeling still flowed through his heart.

The girl suddenly caused a change in his heart.

Upon hearing Gwen's words, Vice Principal Morton's charming John Wayne expression vanished, and he stood there, his face flushed red.

The entire room was completely silent.

“Mr. Parker, Mrs. Parker, you can take Peter back now.”

After a while, George Stacy's voice broke the silence in the room.

“The officers have already given Peter a brief interrogation, and I think that’s enough.”

He stepped forward to help his daughter out of the predicament.

Although Peter is supposed to be taken to the police station for questioning according to procedure, he can exercise the power of the police chief to skip this step for now.

"Is there no problem, Mr. Morton?"

"No problem."

Vice Principal Morton nodded subconsciously.

on the way back.

George, who was driving, glanced at Gwen sitting in the passenger seat.

Gwen rested her chin on one hand, turning her head to look at the scenery flashing past the window.

“You shouldn’t have said that today, Gwen.”

George said to his daughter, "You're not usually this impulsive."

"I know."

Gwen's tone was downcast. "I just thought that such a thing wouldn't happen."

She turned her face and looked at her father.

"Dad, why did you become a policeman?"

"I"

“Because you want to help everyone, you want every community in this city to be safe, stable, and free from criminals, that’s what you always tell me.”

Gwen turned her head and looked at the sky through the windshield.

"Dad, you fight for justice, and your actions in upholding justice are to ensure that everyone is treated equally. But why don't I see justice at school?"

"Gwen, we can't change everything."

"No, it's because your sense of justice can't truly take care of those who need help."

Gwen's words carried a firmness that George could also sense: "Even if I can't do anything about it, at least I'll be angry about these things! I can't pretend I didn't see anything!"

Chapter 14: The Woman Who Saw the Future?

"I hate this feeling!"

Gwen slumped to her aching forehead. "I don't want Peter to be seen this way, but I'm powerless to change anything."

"You and Peter."

Knowing what her father wanted to ask, Gwen explained before he could finish speaking, "He is my friend."

"good friend."

She quickly added another sentence.

"Yes, don't worry, we will definitely find the real culprit and clear your friend's name. We just need to give your father some time."

George assured his daughter.

the other side.

Uncle Ben drove his nearly broken-down Toyota home with Aunt May and Peter in tow.

“I’m sorry, Peter, I didn’t know you would experience these things at school.”

Aunt Mei said, her voice choked with emotion.

Peter, who was standing nearby, comforted Aunt May, saying, "It's all in the past, Aunt May. I don't care about these things."

“I love you, Peter, I really love you.”

Aunt May held Peter's hands, her eyes red, and said with self-reproach, "I was always worried that I hadn't done enough and that I had made you feel wronged. If I had known that you were suffering these things at school, I would have preferred to take them for you."

“May, Parker is a strong child.”

Uncle Ben, who was driving, said, "I think he chose not to tell us because he was worried about us. Everyone has messy times when they grow up, but I have a strong belief that Peter will grow into a man one day."

Although Uncle Ben also felt sorry for his nephew, he remained rational.

There's very little I can do to help my nephew with these problems; ultimately, Peter will have to face them on his own.

Peter, comforted by the two, remained relatively calm.

These memories of bullying were left over from his predecessor, and he didn't feel much about them.
