Chapter 20 It hurts, it hurts too much

The abandoned air-raid shelter, due to its location in a desert climate, was not as damp as one might expect.

Stepping over the pile of sand, Charlotte crouched down and passed through a rubble heap. Overturned wooden stakes supported the rickety passage, as if any slight movement could cause the air-raid shelter to collapse completely.

The fact that it has survived the missile bombardment until now is enough to prove that the shelter is of excellent quality.

“Since it’s an air-raid shelter, it must be connected to the Ten Rings camp in the valley,” the elderly Steve behind him said.

Charlotte nodded. "Yes, but this air-raid shelter has been abandoned for too long. The deeper passages may have collapsed. If we want to get into the Ten Rings camp through the air-raid shelter, we may have to dig it ourselves."

Hearing this, the elderly Steve said with some concern, "We don't have a map, and it will be difficult to accurately find the cave where Tony is if we dig rashly. If we dig in the wrong place, we will be easily discovered."

"Don't worry about that. We can determine the approximate location by just taking a look inside the Ten Rings camp."

"Take a look?"

Old Steve didn't understand what this meant.

He said, “The digging will not be small. I once heard Tony mention that the Ten Rings gang has at least three hundred armed men, not counting the elderly, women and children who are with them. There are thousands of people scattered in the valley, and they have their eyes and ears in almost every place.”

The moment we show our faces, we'll be spotted.

Charlotte turned around and smiled, "Don't worry, I know what I'm doing."

After they finished speaking, the two had already reached the end.

The pile of rubble ahead left almost no gaps.

He stepped forward and began moving the rubble. "Let's get started!"

Old Steve observed for a while, then joined in carrying the rubble.

The two chatted as they carried the load.

"Won't they really find this place? After all, that big lizard seems to be very sensitive to smells," said old Steve.

Charlotte easily moved a boulder weighing several tons. "I guess they probably won't waste time searching for us. After all, we're too weak. They can easily win by just guarding the camp."

Old Steve struggled to push the gravel, getting up halfway to support his back, sweat beading on his forehead.

“If I were them, I could easily get information about the abandoned air-raid shelter by asking the leader of the Ten Rings Gang. By now, I might have already caught you.” He was already panting.

As he got older, his physical functions declined more and more, but he was still many times stronger than the average person, and moving these rubble stones was no problem for him.

However, as his exercise intensity increased, the oxygen supply in the enclosed space became insufficient, which made him feel increasingly strained.

Seeing this, Charlotte spoke while lightly tapping the spider symbol on his chest, and the oxygen supply system on the nanosuit began to release oxygen.

"It's a pity they're not you. The leader of the Ten Commandments gang has probably been killed by them long ago, and they all have mental illnesses to some extent, so they won't think so much. This is our chance."

"Hoo~breath~"

Old Steve took a deep breath. "I feel much better. Peter's suit has this function too; it was personally made for him by Tony."

He glanced behind Charlotte. "Can you grow four metal spider legs?"

"No, my nanosuit is only a battle-damaged version."

"Will your eyes turn red?"

"also can not."

"Does your spider silk have hundreds of patterns?"

“Mine is not artificial spider silk.”

"Wow, the body produces its own spider silk, that's cool."

"Stop talking nonsense, I know you want to slack off."

"Ahem, you caught me."

Three hours later, old Steve was completely exhausted.

"I can't take it anymore, please massage my lower back!"

He turned around and put his hands on the wall.

Charlotte refused without hesitation upon seeing the strange posture.

"Your excuse is too lame. Back in the day, you could spend an entire day doing that."

Old Steve, his face dark, said, "I couldn't do that twenty years ago."

"Then you rest, leave the rest to me."

Charlotte checked the time. "It's already evening."

Most of the rubble ahead has been cleared, so we can move forward now.

He lifted his foot to raise the shield beside him and began to dig upwards.

"Kakaka~"

Before long, Charlotte had dug a five-meter-deep hole in the ceiling of the passageway.

"Pfft~"

Suddenly, a strange stench flooded the passage. Charlotte, sensing something was wrong, immediately flew away, leaving only the elderly Steve, who couldn't escape in time, roaring.

"No!! Ugh. You've dug into a cesspool!!"

"Sorry, I'll try going to the front. Please bear with it a little longer."

"I can't help but vomit~~"

Old Steve rolled his eyes back and fell into the sewage, foaming at the mouth and convulsing uncontrollably.

"Yes, he probably can't be saved."

Seeing this, Charlotte closed his eyes and mourned for three seconds before digging again twenty meters away.

"Kaka~~"

"boom!"

In the valley, the open space next to the ammunition depot suddenly collapsed, and the passing armed personnel exclaimed in alarm.

"what?"

"It looks like a person."

The armed men quickly aimed their guns at the cave entrance, but a large number of them were knocked down by the shields that flew out the next moment.

"what!!"

"Enemy attack!!"

"Da da da~~"

Gunfire blazed in the darkness, and a hail of bullets enveloped the red and blue figures leaping out of the cave entrance.

"Dang Dang Dang~~"

Charlotte darted through the camp, using her shield to deflect the intense gunfire. Amidst the sparks flying, bullets deflected by the shield struck the ammunition depot, instantly triggering a violent explosion.

"Boom~~"

Amidst a series of deafening explosions, bullets flew wildly, and raging flames devoured lives, overturning makeshift wooden sheds and plunging the camp into chaos.

"Do not!!"

"what!"

“Retreat quickly!!”

At the cave entrance, Norman sped out on his flying skateboard, its green tail flashing briefly in the night sky before meandering towards Charlotte in the crowd.

"Gagaga, little Charlotte, I've been waiting for you for a long time."

With a sinister grin, Norman launched a gun barrel from his flying skateboard, ignoring the Ten Rings members present who were unleashing their furious firepower.

"Da da~~"

"Dang Dang Dang~"

Sparks flew from the shield, and bullets ricocheted wildly into the chaotic crowd. Screams filled the air, and large splatters of blood stained the ground red.

"boom!"

The next second, the skateboard under Norman's feet was hit by stray bullets and its flight system was struck, causing it to wobble and burst into thick smoke.

"Oh, my good luck is over."

Norman remained graceful, then plummeted down on his flying skateboard, crashing into the inferno with a deafening roar.

"Charlotte Parker!!"

Immediately afterwards, Lizard Parker, his face contorted with rage, leaped out of the cave. Ignoring the bullets streaking along the way, he ran wildly, instinctively raising an arm to block them in front of him.

He didn't want to get hit in the face with a shield this time.

Seeing this, Charlotte turned around and made a standard bowling motion, his shield transforming into a rapidly spinning "wheel" that sped along, sparking as it scraped against the ground.

"Puchi~"

A sharp shield flashed past Lizard Parker's crotch, instantly leaving a spray of blood.

"Oh my god!!!"

The piercing screams were deafening. Lizard Parker's pupils dilated, and he knelt on the ground clutching his groin, his face contorted in agony.

pain.

It hurts so much.
