The sound of continuous collisions.
"Larry, are you crazy?!"
Bang! Bang! Bang! The sound of guns firing accidentally when the trigger is pulled, the sound of flesh being torn apart, the dense sound of steel balls hitting the inside of the vehicle, angry curses and cries of pain, the sound of brakes braking while turning, and the loud thud of vehicles hitting hard objects.
boom--!
"Ok?"
Standing atop the armored airborne vehicle, Vera dodged a sniper bullet by tilting her head. She let out a soft "hmm," pulled the pin, and *ding*! Her gaze shifted from the anti-aircraft missile operator whose head had been blown off by a tungsten nail bullet through the scope to the dust and smoke caused by the collapse of steel, scaffolding, and other materials.
Not far away are the biological research facilities in the industrial park, marked by fire, with several gaps in the wall that had been blasted down...
"Whoa..." Vera's eyes narrowed, orange light flashed, and she sent the coordinates, "Fly over there."
In-vehicle AI: "Received."
hum…
As she flew over, Vera used her electromagnetic sniper rifle to blow the heads off three more intruders. Then, she approached the edge of the hatch of the hovercraft and released Nekoya, who had emptied his magazine. Nekoya was caught by the Arasaka heavy infantryman inside the vehicle as he fell.
Then, facing Wei's empty hand, he threw up a loaded L-69 smart shotgun, a TKI-20 smart submachine gun, and a thermal samurai sword one after another.
Vera caught them one by one, placed the L-69 Zoe on her back, secured it to the slot of her bulletproof vest, held Shingen in one hand and weighed the samurai sword in the other. As the armored airship approached the transfer plant piled with waste, she slightly bent her knees and jumped with full force.
Boom!
The concrete cracked, and with terrifying strength and coordination, Vera landed steadily under the roof of the building. She took two running steps, jumped again, and used the walls and scaffolding to change direction, flying over various obstacles amidst a dull thud.
"Found you."
Soaring through the air, Vera used the high-precision infrared scanning field of her prosthetic eye to fix her gaze on a van that had crashed into scaffolding, its heat source now a complete mess.
Oh!
The van's roof shattered and caved in, the front window shattered, the tires suddenly inflated, burst, deflated, and sank, the rims hitting the concrete ground and sparking brightly. Vera slammed straight into the van.
It has been modified.
Vera was very confident in her impact; even the top-of-the-line regular civilian van would be dented if it were hit.
Meanwhile, in the driver's seat, the driver, who had been accidentally shot in the back seat and was also severely shaken by the sudden impact, was still trying to keep the vehicle steady. "Damn, what happened..." But as he spoke, his eyes widened because the view from the cockpit had tilted!
Clang! Using her heel as the point of force, Vera struck the dent in the metal roof of the car, leaned forward on the roof, and exerted force, causing the entire vehicle to tip over. In the instant the vehicle lost its balance, she pulled her leg out and jumped away steadily.
boom!
The van crashed to the ground, sparks flying, and rolled twice with a clanging sound.
The glass is also extremely high-strength bulletproof glass; it shatters but doesn't break.
Click.
Hacking, unlocking.
With a ripping sound, Vera ripped open the car door, fired a few shots, and the smart bullets curved, blowing the heads off the resisting driver and the guy in the passenger seat who was pulling out a gun. She chuckled, the orange light in her eyes fading. "As expected, military-grade stuff; it's still not broken after all that..."
With a whoosh, the blade of the thermal samurai sword lit up, and with a clang, Vera cleaved open the trunk door with a single strike.
What comes into view—
"Go to hell!"
Da da da!
With a few quick steps, Vera dodged and pulled the trigger on Shingen's gun. Whoosh! A cloud of blood mist burst out as Vera precisely controlled the tracking bullets, which entered through the eye sockets, shredding the heads of several survivors one by one, leaving only the 'person' who was still growling and tearing at the shoulder and neck of his teammate's corpse.
"Zombies?"
Vera looked strange.
How did you get infected? Did you swallow the original virus sample whole, or did you inject my T-virus synthesis solution into your own aorta? Wait...neck? These are bite marks.
Oh, what a loser.
Vera shook her head as she watched this guy tearing at his teammate's corpse, only able to gnaw off the surface layer of artificial flesh due to the subcutaneous armor.
It would be very difficult for the Progenitor Virus and the T-Virus to cause a disaster like Raccoon City in this world with extremely severe environmental pollution and everyone being cybernetically modified.
Suddenly, bang!
Vera turned her head, and a heavy bullet hit the van's armor plating, sending sparks flying.
"Damn it, if I can't have it, I'll destroy it!"
boom--
A rocket swept past the scaffolding from behind and flew straight toward the van behind Vera.
But with a 'crack', Vera yanked the already badly damaged trunk door off from the outside.
In a flash, it struck the rocket, and with a loud 'boom,' thick smoke and flames shot into the sky, and the surrounding scaffolding collapsed due to the surging shockwave from the explosion.
Amidst the chaos of banging and cracking, Vera remained unmoved, wielding her thermal samurai sword and unleashing a few graceful sword flourishes. "You bastards of military technology," she murmured, "tell me, how should I thank you...?"
She murmured this so sincerely, but given the context, it was hard to tell whether it was a genuine thank you or not.
She lowered her blade, waiting for the right moment, and then, in the next instant, she moved.
"retreat!"
Throwing away the rocket launcher, the one-armed, muscular white man leaned out of the car window and pounded on the car door, roaring angrily.
With a whoosh, the engines started, and several vans sped off in the opposite direction from Vera, crashing through large sections of steel scaffolding in an attempt to slow her down.
Jingle Bell--
Just as Vera disappeared from his sight, the one-armed white man's communication chip was forcibly hacked and activated. "You think you can escape? Uninvited Assault Number One," a cold voice rang out.
The military intelligence agent felt a chill rise from the soles of his feet, creeping up his skin to the tips of his hair. Before he could even speak, bang! A violent impact.
He felt as if he were flying through the air, and it was one of his own cars that had crashed into him! Through the car window, he seemed to see the terror on the faces of his colleagues and comrades in the driver's seat of the car opposite him.
"Damn it! Hacker team... what are you doing?"
[South African Bird]: "I told you so, retreat! They wouldn't listen, and now... damn it, she's found me! She's infiltrating me from the opposite direction... Oh crap, oh crap, no no no... no no—zzzzzz...! Ahhh!"
Whoosh whoosh!
New attacks followed one after another. Tracking bullets seemed to have eyes, hitting the driver next to him in the face. He saw it clearly as they pierced through his prosthetic eye with terrifying accuracy, bringing out a chunk of brain matter.
"Ahhh..." The screams were incessant.
It was a colleague who cut me off, a resounding clang!
With a deafening clang, another car was overturned, crashed into a ledge, tumbled and spun in the air, and then slammed hard onto the ground. A dark figure flew over the car the instant it overturned.
The military intelligence agent, codenamed 'Assault One,' roared hoarsely, 'Damn it! I'll tear a piece of your skin off even if it kills me!'
"Then, please keep up the good work."
A dark figure appeared in front of the car window; it was a Comptau L-69 Zoller. The heavy, two rows of four columns of eight dark muzzles were pointed at him through the windshield. Bang! Eight smart shotgun shells were fired simultaneously, exploding in the cockpit like fireworks, splattering blood and flesh.
...
When the dust settled and the Arasaka armored hovercraft, having cleared out the remaining invaders from the industrial park, arrived, Vera stood on the van where she had discovered the zombies, silently sheathing her knife.
All around, crackling and burning, were dismembered bodies and twisted, deformed vehicles.
"Phew...looks like it's over."

P.S.: Ugh, it should have been post 59, I spent ages changing the sensitive words. The ones with the "|" are all there, and there are others with different descriptions.
Chapter 058: Wei's Fake Sanwei (4.5K)
With a ghostly engine roar, the 'Surveyor' heavy armored airship descended, and the airflow generated by the blue flame nozzles formed a distinct whirlwind on the wrecked ground. Sand and gravel were blown up and hit the scattered construction scaffolding and car wreckage, making a 'clanging' sound.
"Commander Russell...the terrorists who invaded the industrial park have been completely eliminated. A small number escaped, and our unit is pursuing them. However, the biological research building and factory buildings have been severely damaged."
A dozen or so Arasaka heavy armored soldiers jumped off the aircraft, took over the battlefield, and began cleaning up the corpses and searching for prosthetic bodies. Among them, the squad commander, whose right-wing neck armor had a horizontal bar indicating his rank, surveyed the gruesome deaths of the invaders around him, took a deep breath, stepped forward from the stacked and twisted scaffolding steel pipes, bowed his head, and reported in a very low and suppressed voice.
"Bad news as expected. There are only a handful of forces in the world that can casually deploy such a large number of armed personnel and control their weapons stockpile in Africa. They timed it so precisely, they've got their eyes on my Sun Ladder Flower. The news has been leaked... Heh."
A cold snort, and then boom!
The roof structure of the carriage, which had already detached from its external structure, spun out and crashed heavily into the wall of a building more than 30 meters away. Concrete debris and ash were scattered everywhere, causing the Arasaka soldiers cleaning up the battlefield nearby to instinctively shrink back.
As if venting her anger, Vera kicked the innocent van to pieces, fell from the roof, and looked thoughtfully at the zombie trapped in the seat and seatbelt, gnawing at her teammate's corpse and constantly growling at her.
She then said, "Control and contain it, don't let it die. Be careful of droplets and physical contact. The regulations have been issued to you. Safely separate all the metal boxes inside the carriage."
"Also, notify the Johannesburg branch and SAPS (South African Police Service) to block the city's main roads and entrances and exits, and put all military camps on high alert. Execute martial law along the border wall and impose air traffic control immediately."
"Yes!"
Stepping forward amidst the carnage of flesh and blood, a scene of utter devastation resembling purgatory, Vera approached a muscular, cybernetically enhanced Black man whose head was impaled by a katana. She pulled out the katana, wiping the viscous residue from the blade with the corpse's short, curly black hair, and then connected to a communicator to begin speaking.
Toot——
"This is Vera Adelhead, yes, from Night City. I'm requesting a private plane and personnel from Tokyo headquarters. The 'Stairway to the Sun Project' has been targeted by a hostile external force. I suspect there's a leak within the company, and I'm requesting the intervention of the counterintelligence department. Additionally, I request temporary equivalent military authorization (i.e., current officers gaining authority outside their designated jurisdiction). I need emergency response personnel from the Cape Town, Pretoria, and Bloemfontein branches in South Africa. Immediate departure..."
Boom!
Before she finished speaking, Vera sped up as if in a flash, heading towards the gap in the industrial park wall not far away.
"Phew... It seems Commander Russell is furious... The experimental results have been destroyed, uh, we're in for a lot of work."
When 'Furious' Vera left, the squad leader Arasaka who came to report immediately breathed a sigh of relief.
That's terrifying!
Look at this place. In just two or three minutes, probably twenty or thirty people have died. Seven or eight cars have been overturned. There are pieces of flesh and corpses with their eyes opened everywhere. There are broken guns, metal armor and prosthetic implants scattered all over the ground. Just from the models they recognized, there are mantis knives, cannon fists, catapult launch systems, gorilla arms... These are all cybernetic experts, which are not comparable to the local gangs and street thugs in South Africa.
"But what the hell is this thing?"
He looked at the van marked by Commander Russell. Inside, that 'person' was biting, growling, coughing up blood and bile. It was disgusting. Even the most twisted company dog wouldn't be this disgusting.
"Tie him up! Damn it, remove his jaw and jawbone. Any gags? Gag him too!"
