The entrance to the middle school, which was quiet and almost silent, seemed particularly large.
In response, boom—!
A series of creaking and scraping metallic sounds were heard, accompanied by a piercing shriek as a steel pipe slammed heavily against the railing of the middle school gate. Even the brick walls on both sides trembled to varying degrees, and the once quiet street was swept away by a roar like a storm.
"Roar--!"
“Vera Adelheid Russell...it's all because of you, I'll kill you, because of you...I'll kill you...I'm going to kill you!”
A severely asymmetrical, deformed figure appeared in front of the car that had made the noise.
The tattered white coat, barely discernible, was stained with blood and stretched taut by its body, which had swelled to over two meters in length. The skin on its right side had been completely ruptured, and a huge eyeball had grown out of its protruding shoulder. Its enormous right arm had completely transcended the human form.
"How ugly, William Burgh..."
"die!!"
The deformed head belonging to William Birkin, which was being squeezed and migrated to his left shoulder and left chest by G cells, screamed. Its eyes, which were almost swallowed by the deformed flesh, suddenly opened, their pupils bulging with bloodstains and flashing a scarlet, bloodthirsty red light. It swung the steel pipe in its hand, and with a bang, the car was crushed, and the glass shattered into pieces.
boom! Boom boom!
One blow, two blows, three blows—the steel pipes were bent and broken, then he used his hands to smash them. I don't know how many times he smashed them. The car was completely smashed, the radio was probably crushed, Vera's voice disappeared, and the entire metal structure of the car was twisted into a mess.
"What deep-seated hatred must there be?"
William Birkin was drawn to the car-smashing noise, and taking advantage of the opportunity, the Echo Squad passed through the high school and entered the east entrance of Raccoon Avenue. The squad leader, Justinham, listened to the 'thump thump' of the smashing and heard the clear names that he could still shout even though he had become inhuman, and his throat went dry.
"This is Echo 6. We have entered Raccoon Avenue. Over."
...
The White House, Situation Room.
creak.
After putting down her headset, Vera noticed the silent, hesitant expressions around her and raised an eyebrow, saying, "Why are you all looking at me?"
"Your Excellency, Mr. Simmons, shall we continue to assess the possibility of saving Raccoon City?"

(Reflections on the harvest)
As the title suggests, this book will be available on the shelves tomorrow, Friday, April 4.26th.
This is the second book about sake, and the second book to be published.
To be honest, I'd say I'm a typical example of someone who transitioned from reader to author. My last book was written during the pandemic lockdown. I couldn't find anything I liked to read, so I was at home learning to drive and had nothing to do, so I started writing.
With the experience of the previous book, this book is undoubtedly much stronger at the beginning (the previous book was even forgotten to be included on the cover when it was published).
Thank you to all the readers and book lovers for your support, especially the old readers who have been with us since the beginning. Without you, there would be no Qingjiu today.
Thank you to editor Nanxi for your help.
As for the content of this book, everyone knows that Qingjiu wanted to write something slightly different.
The reason I chose to start with Cyberpunk 2077 is because I actually wanted to write it back when 2077 was released. But at that time I was more obsessed with Honkai Impact, so I wrote Honkai Impact instead.
This book is about a man who, as a corporate employee, rises to prominence in a chaotic and unpredictable environment.
This is the established tone.
Let's talk about the content.
The more you learn about the cyberpunk world, the more desperate you become; legends can't change anything at all.
Even if David, Lucy, and V blew up Arasaka Tower, it wouldn't change the world. Once Arasaka leaves, new large companies will fill the void, and some will even become more powerful after acquiring Arasaka's share, making the situation even more hopeless.
The protagonist Vera's identity was designed for her to work in the company; otherwise, logically speaking, it would be impossible for her to hold a high position at such a young age.
The word 'progress' in the title of this book is something I've thought about carefully. Progress includes working in a company, as well as within a system, and rising through any power or influence.
This is the path I chose.
The same goes for Resident Evil. It was initially part of Umbrella Corporation, but later it was separated and made independent. Thinking about it carefully, there seem to be few writers like me who write about the Raccoon City incident but whose protagonist is not in Raccoon City, but in Washington.
But this fits the theme of the book, and I don't know if everyone will like it.
Of course I know about the protagonist's role, and I will pay attention to adjusting the frequency. The protagonist can't stay in the background with every identity. There will naturally be unexpected events and the protagonist will personally get involved. I will also arrange for the cyberpunk, different worlds, and even the sequel to Resident Evil.
Please feel free to point out any errors, and we also welcome any good suggestions or ideas you may have.
As for the guarantee of completion, in reality, all guarantees are meaningless. I do have a record of completing 350 million words, but in short, I'll leave the answer to time.
There is no use in talking more.
Finally, I'll try my best to post a big update tomorrow!
It definitely can explode.
It won't explode by much.
Although I didn't open a bounty, I still owe three silver treasure chests, monthly tickets, tips, and a number of razor blades, which I definitely have to repay. I also have to repay the discounted ones.
9K—1W
Sake making isn't a full-time job; this is pretty much the limit for a day.
I'll see if it can explode for several days in a row.
So, tomorrow afternoon, I'm asking for your first subscription, your support, and your support.
The sake company knew its production capacity was inefficient, but still begged to come and support them.
I'm begging you! o( ̄ε ̄*)

Chapter 035 Vera at the White House
The meeting continues.
On the desktop is an open map of Raccoon City and a folder containing intelligence about Raccoon City collected by Chris, Jill, and other former STARS survivors and USF troops.
rustle.
While casually browsing, Vera noticed the gazes around her and looked up. It was Simmons. Noticing the thoughtful, questioning expression on his face, she smiled and took a sip of her coffee. "Um, Mr. Simmons, is there a problem?"
"I've heard about your conflict with Dr. William Birkin for a long time, but seeing is believing."
"No, Mr. Simmons."
Vera shook her head slightly and looked around at the President, White House staff, and generals of the Joint Chiefs of Staff who were passing by, clearly showing interest.
Hmph! Everyone's so eager to hear about her and William's gossip?
Slowly setting down her coffee cup, Vera propped her left hand up and used a few fingers to support her cheek. Her eyes flickered slightly as if recalling something. "William Birkin, I don't know him personally. It was just a simple disagreement at the board meeting. I admire his talent in biology, but I don't agree with his personality and I also oppose his strategy. It's that simple."
William Birkin.
Well, Vera didn't like him, but there wasn't much pure malice in him.
She just happened to need a target and an opponent.
William Birkin leaned closer and said, "You're the one."
Vera knew William disliked and hated her, but she didn't expect it to be this extreme.
They were about to enter the second stage of the G virus, and the G-organism had already grown the prototype of its head. Despite the fact that its consciousness and thinking ability should have disappeared, it was so excited after hearing her formulaic criticism that its eyes tore open through the flesh membrane and it could still clearly utter her full name. It was really hard for it.
However, upon further reflection, considering William's past deeds, it's not surprising at all.
His personality is proud, extreme, sensitive, competitive, and prone to extreme joy or sorrow.
He is one of the world's top virus researchers, but not the absolute best.
In order to obtain the research results on the T-virus and exclusive authorship rights, he killed his mentor, Dr. James Marcus.
Then, because of the existence of Alexia Ashford, who graduated from a prestigious university at the age of 10, he felt immense pressure despite Alexia never targeting him, and almost had a mental breakdown.
After Alexia disappeared, he recovered and enjoyed a period of success as the chief researcher on the Umbrella virus and the founder of the G virus. Finally, he welcomed Vera Adelheid Russell to Umbrella.
Vera was only verbally defiant and very tactful; she never actually tripped him up in any way, even in business matters.
Because of Vera's presence, Umbrella's income increased dramatically. Compared to the original timeline, even if the proportion of funding in Umbrella's annual investment remained the same or even decreased, the funding he received and the hardware conditions of the Raccoon City underground research institute were both more and better, but William could not see it.
He only saw that his status in the company had been reduced, and that Vera had taken a larger share of the funds that should have belonged to him.
Just as he had faced the pressure from Alexia, he was now facing even greater pressure from Vera, which drove him to a state of mental exhaustion and left him half-mad.
Perhaps from William's perspective, his eventual collaboration with the USA military and his defection from Umbrella were forced upon him, driven by that bitch Vera.
After being infected by the G virus, his confused thoughts intensified his disgust and hatred.
"Let's not talk about him anymore. He was a fool who brought about his own destruction. As the former head of Umbrella's USA region, Umbrella's Paris headquarters didn't care about the fate of Raccoon City, but I, and all of you who are responsible for maintaining the stability of the United States, cannot ignore it."
After offering a round of subtle compliments and subtly elevating herself, Vera steered the conversation back to the assessment of efforts to save Raccoon City.
The meeting had been going on for a while, and because the illustrated documents rescued and transmitted from Raccoon City were so thick—a huge stack—Vera picked out the key points and went over the T-virus information again.
Why not mention the G virus? Because she didn't know about it.
Vera wasn't interested in what the Pentagon, or even the generals who were secretly having an affair with William, were thinking. Judging from their expressions, it was clear they knew nothing.
After reviewing the materials in detail, the president said, "OK, Ms. Russell, you are an expert in this area. Based on your on-site investigation, the Arklay Mountains have also been contaminated with the T and G viruses. The Raccoon City water supply system, underground sewage pipes, and the Mendes River basin within the city are all contaminated... If you want to eradicate them..."
"It's hard."
Vera shook her head.
"According to the data, the first case of 'cannibalism' in Raccoon City was caused by citizens drinking water infected with the T virus. Although I am not very knowledgeable in biological virology, a simple assessment of the damage would undoubtedly cost a lot of money and time. The best solution is to lock down the city, like Chernobyl did."
"Water will dilute the T virus. The T virus is an RNA virus, and its genetic material is based on ribonucleic acid. Without a host, it cannot survive in nature for a long time. The only thing to be careful about is rats, cockroaches, and birds that have ingested the T virus, as well as aquatic organisms carrying the T virus in the water. They will move, although they will lose their ability to migrate and stay in place after infection. However, if left unattended for a long time, it may lead to the spread."
