Mystery: A Spark

As for why Arthur took out the revolver and then put it back, it's because he noticed something as soon as he touched the revolver.
It's too light; the weight of this revolver is wrong.
Because life at sea is nothing like the comfortable life in Backlund, Arthur has always been quite vigilant; otherwise, he probably would have died in some ditch long ago.
He always liked to keep his revolver fully loaded so that he could launch a counterattack as quickly as possible if he encountered danger.
But now, a revolver loaded with bullets can't possibly be that light.
So it's obvious that the bullets in his gun have been removed.
Therefore, Arthur had no choice but to take out his dagger, which he used as a secondary weapon, to remain vigilant.
The door opened, and a man in his thirties leaned against the doorway, looking at Arthur, who remained on guard, with a playful expression.
This was a man wearing a black cloak, with yellowish-brown eyebrows, bright but deep blue eyes, and a not-too-deep profile, resembling someone from the southern part of Intis and the surrounding areas of Lenburg and Segal.
"Kid, you're awake? Why are you so nervous? If we had designs on you, you probably wouldn't be standing here unharmed right now." The man in front of him looked at the somewhat nervous Arthur and teased him with a smile.
"Did you save me? Can I know who you are?" Arthur tentatively inquired about the identity of the man in front of him.
He needs to figure out his current situation as soon as possible so that he can come up with a strategy to deal with it.
Although Arthur didn't think he would coincidentally encounter those famous characters from the original story right after waking up, it didn't matter.
His words were merely an opening remark, a prelude to what he would say next.
The person in front of me did not show any obvious hostility; on the contrary, he seemed to be willing to communicate.
Therefore, Arthur naturally wanted to take this opportunity to try to obtain some information.
However, the next moment, he knew that he no longer needed to painstakingly try to get information out of her.
Because the man in front of me said:
"You didn't recognize me? Haven't you seen my bounty poster?"
Seeing that Arthur still looked somewhat bewildered, he introduced himself with some dissatisfaction:
"I am Flame Danitz, the great pirate with a bounty of three thousand pounds."
"Oh~~" Arthur's face showed an expression of sudden realization and long-standing admiration, while Danitz's expression also showed a hint of smugness.
"do not know."
But Arthur's next words instantly froze his smug expression.
Before Danitz could say anything, Arthur smiled and said:
"Hehe, just kidding. Of course I know the famous Flame Danitz."
Danitz's expression softened somewhat, and he looked Arthur up and down before saying:
"Kid, I've discovered you have quite a talent for provocation."
"Oh, you flatter me. I've always had one advantage: I'm very good at talking." Arthur said with a shy expression.
Danitz pursed his lips speechlessly and said:
"Alright, I'm not going to waste my breath on you anymore. Come with me to meet our captain."
"Your captain?" Arthur asked, a puzzled look on his face.
“That’s right, you’re lucky, kid. You ran into our Golden Dream. If it had been some other pirate crew that pulled you out, you probably wouldn’t know what you’d be going through now,” Danitz said, patting Arthur on the shoulder.
"Although we are also a pirate group, we only plunder merchant ships and passenger ships when we are extremely poor, and we will not harm innocent people."
"Our main focus was on finding treasure, and we often had some success. I actually slept on a bed made of gold coins. If we encountered other pirate ships, we would also take them out to get supplies."
Chapter 3 Provocation
On the way to the captain's cabin, Arthur listened to Danitz talk about the principles and treatment on the Golden Dream, and knew that what the other man said was basically the truth.
Lieutenant General Edwina Edwards is a Sequence 5 of the Reader's Path, an Arcane Mentor.
Standing behind her was the Church of Knowledge, one of the seven major orthodox churches.
What few people know is that Lieutenant General Iceberg's ancestor was one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse under Emperor Roselle.
Among the four kings and seven generals at sea, she and another star admiral from the Morse Order, Cattleya, are among the few major pirates who tend to act in an orderly manner.
Arthur was rescued by the Golden Dream after the shipwreck, which is already a pretty good start.
At the very least, he wasn't salvaged by some pirate general like the Blood Admiral or the Hell Admiral.
If he had encountered these kinds of people, he might as well have just drowned in the sea.
As for Danitz's claim that he once slept on a bed made of gold coins, Arthur believed it too.
He also knew that all the money Danitz had saved had been converted into real estate.
The property certificates are hidden in the walls of the basement at 13 Bayam Tree Avenue.
Therefore, Danitz had good financial management skills, knowing to exchange currency, which is easily affected by financial problems, for real estate, which is more likely to preserve value.
In Arthur's previous life, housing prices basically only went up, never down.
"By the way, are you trying to hint that I should join the Golden Dream by giving me such a detailed explanation?" Arthur asked Danitz with some curiosity.
"What, don't you want to join? Our benefits are pretty good," Danitz asked, somewhat puzzled.
“I would love to join if I could, but you probably don’t recruit people so casually, I’m just an ordinary person,” Arthur said tentatively.
For him, who had just transmigrated, the Golden Dream was a decent place to land.
If he could join this pirate crew, he would at least have a place to stay.
Most importantly, the ship's captain, Edwina, would often give lectures to the crew, telling them about occult knowledge.
This is still very useful for Arthur at this stage.
Although he knew a lot of things through the original work, he could not say these things aloud.
There isn't actually that much occult knowledge that can be truly put to use.
But what Arthur found strange was why a pirate crew led by a naval general would invite an ordinary person like him to join.
In the original story, Danitz also tried to recruit Klein, but that was because Klein was already a powerful and eccentric adventurer at the time.
However, Arthur was not even an Extraordinary at this point, so why would Danitz offer to recruit him?
"So that's what you were wondering about. I forgot to tell you earlier," Danitz said, suddenly realizing.
"What did you say?" Arthur asked, puzzled.
“Actually, we on the Golden Dream weren’t supposed to run into you today. We heard about a treasure and decided to go see if it was true or not. The place where you fell into the water is a bit off our course,” Danitz said to Arthur.
"There must be a 'but' after that, right?" Arthur asked.
“That’s right, but the captain suddenly ordered us to veer off course, and then we saw you floating on the surface of the sea. After we pulled you out, our captain put us back on the course,” Danitz explained earnestly.
Arthur raised an eyebrow slightly, concealing the turmoil in his heart.
As they were talking, the two arrived at the door of the captain's cabin.
Danitz knocked gently on the door and said:
"Captain, the boy we pulled from the sea has woken up. I've brought him here."
"Let him in." A cool female voice came from the captain's cabin.
Danitz paused for a moment, then turned to look at Arthur and sized him up.
Danitz thought for a moment, then reached out and hooked his arm around Arthur's shoulder, leading him aside.
He lowered his voice and said to Arthur:
"Hey kid, don't get any ideas about our captain, or I'll teach you a lesson."
Arthur replied in a similarly low voice:
"Don't worry, what you're worried about won't happen."
After saying that, he moved even closer to Danitz and lowered his voice further, saying:
"Because I don't like women."
Then, Arthur deliberately gave Danitz a very lewd look as he looked him up and down.
In that instant, Danitz jumped back as if he had been electrocuted.
He vigorously wiped the hand that had just flirted with Arthur with the sleeve of his other hand, as if he had touched something dirty.
But when he saw the undisguised mockery in Arthur's eyes, Danitz realized that he had been tricked by the kid.
He opened his mouth as if to curse, but Arthur recognized his lip movements; he probably meant to call him "shit."
But Danitz quickly remembered that he was outside the captain's cabin, and had to swallow the curse that was about to come out.
He pointed a finger at Arthur's chest, unsure of what to say for a long time.
In the end, he could only reluctantly utter a harsh remark:
"Kid, I'll settle the score with you when you get out."
Arthur watched Danitz leave with a smile, offering no response to those harsh words.
The reason he tried to provoke Danitz was mainly because the original owner was about to collect all the Hunter's Potions.
However, Arthur was still unsure whether he should take the hunter's path.
Because he has always considered himself a civilized, kind, and peace-loving person, he doesn't really fit in with the kind of people who are hunters, who are prone to provocation, conspiracy, and war.
A person's character has a great influence on the extraordinary path they take.
Some people are born reckless, and if such a person chooses a very sneaky and extraordinary path, the outcome will probably not be good.
The most typical example is that teacher, Mr. Luo.
If this reckless person hadn't taken the path of the diviner but instead the path of the storm, he would at least be a demigod by now.
Take Danitz, for example. As an arsonist, all he ever said when he cursed was "bullshit." He was incredibly pathetic, and I have no idea how he even became an arsonist.
Look at Arthur, he's handsome, loves painting, and exudes an artistic vibe. He doesn't seem like the type to swear at all.
If he wore a pair of gold-rimmed glasses, he would be a natural-born gentleman, which seems completely unrelated to the hunter's path...
