Chapter 46 The Missing Dementors
"Children, come in! One of my colleagues will be there to greet you. Don't worry, he just wants to know what happened!"
After hearing Kingsley Shackles' words, Jerry and Hermione entered the carriage.
"Good evening, gentlemen. I am Arthur Weasley from the Ministry of Magic. Please have a seat."
After hearing Arthur Weasley's words, Jerry asked, "You are... Ron's father?"
"You actually know me? Did Ron tell you?"
Jerry nodded and said, "We're Ron's good friends, and he said his father works at the Ministry of Magic. But we heard him say you went to Romania, didn't you?"
Arthur Weasley warmly invited Jerry and Hermione to sit down, then sighed and said, "Actually, I was planning to go on a trip, but there was an emergency at the Ministry of Magic, and all the officials are working overtime."
Seeing Arthur Weasley's large dark circles under his eyes, Jerry couldn't help but ask, "Mr. Weasley, can you tell us what happened? Is it related to the Dementors?"
Upon hearing Jerry's question, Arthur Weasley remained silent for a moment, then looked at the two of them with a solemn expression and said, "Actually, I shouldn't have told you this, but considering that you've already encountered Dementors today, I feel it's necessary to reveal the truth to you."
"Actually, Dementors started disappearing in Azkaban a year ago, but initially the number was small, so it did not attract enough attention from the Ministry of Magic."
"However, three days ago something shocking happened: a third of Azkaban's Dementors disappeared overnight!"
Arthur Weasley's eyes revealed deep worry and distress: "Dementors are usually responsible for carrying out the harshest punishments and guarding Azkaban. Now, a third of the Dementors have gone missing, severely weakening the Ministry of Magic's ability to monitor Azkaban."
"That's not the worst part. The real fear is that Dementors will run into Muggle territory, wreak havoc, and cause massive casualties."
Jerry and Hermione exchanged glances, sensing Arthur Weasley's anxiety and worry. The disappearance of the Dementors was clearly serious, and connected to the Dementors they had encountered that day.
Jerry couldn't help but wonder what kind of conspiracy was hidden behind this.
Could the Dementors on the train be related to me?
Hermione asked, "Has the Ministry of Magic found the missing Dementors yet?"
Arthur Weasley shook his head and said, "No, the Dementors have vanished as if they've evaporated into thin air. This is the first Dementor that has been discovered today."
After hearing Arthur Weasley's words, Jerry's ominous premonition grew stronger; the Dementors might really be after him.
Damn it! Are you all crazy? The savior is Harry Potter, why aren't you going to find him and instead coming to me, Jerry Green?
Looking for trouble, right?
Arthur Weasley then asked Jerry about what happened, and Jerry truthfully answered all the details.
Shortly afterward, Dumbledore knocked on the door and came in.
"Arthur, are you finished talking? I need to speak with Jerry and Miss Granger!"
"It's over, Headmaster Dumbledore. These two children are now in your care. I need to go and report to the Minister."
"Goodbye, Mr. Green, goodbye, Miss Granger, you are welcome to visit my home again sometime!"
After Arthur Weasley left, Dumbledore walked in, smiled, and said to the two of them, "Well done! Although it's holiday time now, I still have to say, Slytherin gets 50 points, and Gryffindor gets 30 points!"
Upon hearing Dumbledore's words, Hermione jumped up excitedly, while Jerry didn't seem to care much and just smiled faintly.
"Hermione, could you go back to our carriage first? I have something I'd like to discuss with Headmaster Dumbledore alone."
Hearing Jerry's words, Hermione was somewhat surprised. However, she didn't hesitate for long and immediately obeyed Jerry's advice, getting out of the carriage.
When they left, Hermione thoughtfully closed the carriage door to ensure that their conversation wouldn't be overheard by others.
Dumbledore was also somewhat surprised and asked curiously, "Jerry, what do you need to see me about? And why do you need to avoid Miss Granger? As far as I know, your relationship is quite special!"
Ignoring Dumbledore's teasing, Jerry took a small gift box from his jacket pocket and handed it to Dumbledore.
After receiving the gift box from Jerry, Dumbledore asked in confusion, "What is this...?"
Seeing Dumbledore's puzzled look, Jerry said, "This is not a Christmas present for you. I have prepared your Christmas present in advance. This present is something I would like to ask you to give to another relative of mine."
“Headmaster Dumbledore, you should know who I’m talking about! And right now, I guess only you know where he is!”
Upon hearing Jerry's words, Dumbledore's expression turned serious. After a moment of silence, he sighed and said, "Jerry, you knew it!"
Seeing Dumbledore's expression, Jerry couldn't help but smile; he knew his guess had been confirmed.
Jerry said to Dumbledore, "Headmaster Dumbledore, I had only been guessing before, but seeing your reaction, I think I can be sure now."
"you……"
"Can I see him?"
"I'm sorry, Jerry, you can't see Gellert right now, but I can assure you that you will see him after you finish your first year!"
Upon hearing Dumbledore's words, Jerry said thoughtfully, "So my background really is related to Grindelwald!"
Dumbledore: "..."
"I understand, thank you Headmaster Dumbledore. Also, please give this Christmas present to him, thank you!"
Without waiting for Dumbledore to speak, he quickly turned and left the carriage.
Dumbledore watched Jerry's departing figure, then carefully examined the gift in his hand, sighed, and put it in his pocket.
……
Jerry, you're back!
Back in his compartment, Jerry noticed that Hermione hadn't asked him what he wanted to see Dumbledore about. So, he couldn't help but ask, "Hermione, aren't you curious what I wanted to see Headmaster Dumbledore about?"
Hearing Jerry's words, Hermione replied, "Of course I'm curious, but I trust you. You won't hide anything from me, Jerry!"
Hermione's words were as sincere as a clear spring, revealing a deep trust that made Jerry's heart, which was as cold as stone, tremble with a touch of warmth.
Holy crap! When did this little witch become so skilled?!
Chapter 47 The Grangers
"Dirty, dirty, dirty~"
Night had completely fallen, and the train roared into London's King's Cross station. The station lights reflected on the train windows, creating a dazzling display of light and shadow.
Jerry stood at the door of the carriage and looked out the window. He saw that the platform was already full of parents, who were anxiously or expectantly waiting for their children to return.
"Jerry, do me a favor!"
Jerry, who was busy packing his things, suddenly felt his shirt being tugged. He quickly turned around to look at Hermione and saw that she had a slightly anxious expression on her face.
“Jerry, can you keep this a secret?” Hermione asked anxiously. “When my parents ask about me, can you not tell them what just happened? I don’t want them to worry about me.”
Upon hearing Hermione's request, Jerry agreed without hesitation. He smiled and said, "Of course, Hermione. I understand your concerns, and I will do my best to keep it a secret for you."
Just as the two finished packing their belongings, the train's announcement came that they could disembark. Jerry, dragging their luggage with his right hand and tightly protecting Hermione with his left, followed the flow of people off the train.
The platform was crowded with people, and parents were anxiously waiting for their children to arrive.
Jerry and Hermione walked to the platform, put down their luggage, and Hermione looked around, searching for her parents.
“Jerry, look over there! My mom and dad are over there!” Hermione said, pointing to the figures of a middle-aged couple in the distance.
Jerry looked in the direction Hermione was pointing and saw Hermione's parents standing in the distance waving at them. He smiled and said to Hermione, "I see them, Hermione. Your parents must have been waiting for a long time. Let's go over there."
They carried their luggage to Hermione's parents, who, seeing their daughter return safely, embraced her affectionately with smiles of relief on their faces.
"Dad, Mom, this is my good friend Jerry Green." Hermione introduced Jerry with a joyful expression after cuddling with her parents.
"Hello, Mr. and Mrs. Granger," Jerry greeted Hermione's parents politely.
“Hello, Jerry, it’s a pleasure to meet you,” Mrs. Granger replied warmly.
"Hello!" Mr. Granger said in a lukewarm tone.
"Jerry, let me have my dad take you home first! It's on his way!"
Mr. Granger wanted to say something more, but after seeing Hermione's warning look, he chose to keep quiet.
When Jerry saw Hermione's father looking somewhat embarrassed, he smiled awkwardly and tried to decline, saying, "No need, Hermione. I can just take the bus."
However, Mrs. Granger interrupted him warmly.
“Jerry, you don’t need to be so polite,” Mrs. Granger said with a smile. “Hermione writes to us often, and she always mentions you. She says you are her best friend and that you have taken very good care of her. We are very grateful for your help to Hermione!”
Seeing Mrs. Granger's enthusiasm, Jerry couldn't refuse, so he followed them to the parking lot and got into the car.
As soon as he got into the car, Mrs. Granger asked in a friendly manner, "Jerry, where do you live?"
Jerry was about to answer when Hermione beat him to it: "Winstonley Road, Elizabeth's Orphanage." Her voice carried a firm tone, as if she didn't want Jerry to suffer any harm or misunderstanding.
The Grangers were somewhat surprised by Hermione's answer.
"Jerry, are you an orphan?" Mrs. Granger asked curiously, her tone devoid of any belittling or discriminatory intent, simply a genuine inquiry.
“Yes, madam,” Jerry replied calmly.
Upon hearing this answer, Mrs. Granger said somewhat embarrassedly, "I'm sorry, Jerry, I didn't mean anything by it, it's just that you don't seem like someone from an orphanage."
Hearing Mrs. Granger's words, Jerry smiled and said, "It's alright, madam!"
Jerry was already used to the Grangers' surprise. After all, his appearance and demeanor certainly didn't seem like that of a child from an orphanage.
When Mrs. Granger saw Jerry's confidence and optimism, she said with pity, "Poor child, your parents are so cruel!" Her tone was full of sympathy and regret for Jerry's plight.
After listening to Mrs. Granger's words, Jerry thought carefully for a moment and then smiled and said, "Madam, I don't think my parents are heartless. They just lived in an environment where they couldn't provide enough support, and they had their own difficulties. I understand their decision, and I don't regret my life experiences."
Wow! Jerry was internally applauding and giving himself a thumbs up for saying that!
Sure enough, after hearing Jerry's words, Mrs. Granger's favorability towards him increased rapidly, and she became more and more satisfied with Jerry.
Throughout the journey, Jerry fully demonstrated his outstanding acting skills and excellent eloquence, successfully establishing a sunny and confident persona in Mrs. Granger's mind.
More than half an hour later, the car slowly came to a stop in front of the orphanage. Jerry picked up his luggage, smiled, and said goodbye to Hermione and the others.
"Jerry, don't forget you accepted my invitation!" Hermione shouted as she rolled down the car window before leaving.
Jerry smiled and nodded when he heard Hermione's words, replying, "I will definitely remember, Hermione."
……
After Jerry left, Mr. Granger said to Hermione, "Honey, was that blond guy the one you kept mentioning in your letters?"
"Hey! Dad, how can you call someone that!"
