—The protagonist's growth.

In order to lay the groundwork for the next volume, I wrote a little bit about the character's growth, which caused me to completely overlook one thing: my protagonist does not need to grow.

Yes, he doesn't need to grow up.

The point isn't whether Hanayagi Shoko is qualified to speak, but rather that the protagonist I'm writing is a mature character, the kind who transforms into a dragon when faced with adversity, completely without needing any character development attributes.

I've already discussed this with industry leaders.

他 说:

"The protagonist you wrote is very mature, both in his thoughts and actions, so his growth is written strangely and gives people a sense of confusion. Especially when he has done nothing wrong but is still criticized, it will make readers feel misunderstood and rebellious, which is why there is such great flexibility. You ask for a solution? Not writing it is the best solution. Your protagonist does not need to grow."

Thanks to the expert's guidance, I managed to turn things around at the end of this volume, and I should be able to barely pass.

Of course, all of the above are writing errors, but the most fatal flaw is the troubles of real life.

I've been flying non-stop since last month; I probably spend more time in the air than on the ground. But even so, aside from taking leave due to flight delays to Chongqing and when I was too tired to move after getting home, I've consistently updated every day.

I really, really, really want to stop updating!

Stop it for a month!

But I know my own personality; once I stop updating, I will never be able to continue writing, so I force myself to keep writing.

The cost is a significant drop in quality, and mistakes in both work and writing. Trying to have it both ways results in failing to achieve either.

I even forgot about a crucial subplot I'd laid out earlier—the OVA's spirit storyline. It wasn't until last night, after finishing the final chapter, that I suddenly remembered, and a wave of frustration washed over me.

However, I managed to finish this volume, albeit with some regrets. It is complete, though not without its flaws.

In conclusion: Not stopping updates is a success.

P.S.: Things should return to normal afterward, and my writing level should improve. Also, isekai (another world) stories are easier to write, so will be the main theme from now on.

Chapter 166 Succubi are alluring, but one should not overindulge.

“Hiss—ha—hiss—ha—”

"...Lord Kobayashi, please don't be breathing heavily outside the house like a pervert. Besides, if you want, the women in the mansion would be happy to do this to you, especially Lord Darkness, who would definitely faint from excitement."

"I'm sorry. How should I put it... I felt like the world was filled with a cheerful atmosphere, so I couldn't help but do it."

Outside the remote mansion in Axel's starting village, a man and a woman stood at the gate.

It was Kobayashi and Ryuu who had returned.

To outsiders, his actions might seem like utter perversion, but this was truly Kobayashi's thought. Even though the world of Konosuba is far more dangerous than other worlds, he felt a sense of ease emanating from within.

"Isn't the feeling of oppression caused by being surrounded by those strange women?"

Liu Zi's words hit the nail on the head.

Actually, Charlotte and Frey were alright, but the fierce onslaught of a certain little girl was really making him a bit overwhelmed.

Yes, he went to see Fei.

It wasn't just to express gratitude to Fei's father; he also wanted to use the connections and influence of the other party to retaliate against the Kingsford family, who had provoked him.

I just didn't expect Fei's boldness to far exceed my expectations.

Sharing a bed is a minor matter; things like exchanging good morning, good afternoon, and good night kisses, deliberately and accidentally barging into the bathroom, and begging to play couple games and doctor games are all things we do every day.

There was even a time when his pants were almost pulled down.

That's why he fled in a sorry state after retaliating against the Kingsford family; otherwise, if he had stayed any longer, he might have been eaten by that fierce little girl... or even eaten by her.

"But anyway, everyone, I'm back!"

Xiao Lin clenched his fists, squatted down, then stood up and cheered. Unfortunately, the mansion was too big, and no one responded; his feelings were wasted.

"There's something I'm really concerned about."

"What is it, Lord Kobayashi?"

"Liu Zi, won't you be jealous when you see me with other women?"

Kobayashi was really curious.

You could say he was overly self-conscious, or you could say he was arrogant and narcissistic. But whatever the case, he was very curious about the true thoughts of the maid, whose expression was somewhat cold but whose tongue was unusually sharp.

"Oh dear, has the fickle master finally realized that the lonely servant has been neglected? I never expected you to care about such a thing. I'm truly astonished." Ryuji's first words were full of resentment and condemnation.

Kobayashi was quite embarrassed, after all, he had indeed ignored the other person.

"It's okay."

Liu Zi's lips curled up slightly. Although it was subtle, it was still clear that she was smiling.

"Because I know that no one can spend as much time with you as I have. Until the end of the world, until the gears break, I will always be by your side as your servant."

"oh oh……"

Xiaolin blushed slightly.

Liu Zi's direct approach, which could be described as a confession, almost won him over. Compared to Fei's fierce offensive, Liu Zi's calm yet resolute words moved him more.

"So……"

Kobayashi extended his right hand, and Ryuji naturally placed her hand on top of his, their fingers interlaced, and the two smiled at each other.

"Come on, go home."

"Yes."

Bathed in the glow of the setting sun, it was a truly breathtaking sight.

however--

As soon as they stepped into the mansion, they saw a withered zombie crawl out of the mansion and slowly wriggle towards the door.

"……Eh?"

Xiaolin blinked, looking completely puzzled.

You should know that this mansion is inhabited by a goddess, and moreover, the water goddess who hates liches and zombies the most. Therefore, she had set up a barrier in the mansion long ago to prevent these things from invading.

But now there are zombies crawling in the courtyard.

Has that idiot Aqua finally given up her goddess status?

Kobayashi scratched his head in frustration and shouted at the mansion, "Aqua, where's Aqua? Come out and clean the floor... cough, come out and drive away the zombies!"

Normally, a foolish goddess who senses the lich's presence should pounce like a hound smelling bones. There's no reaction... could something really have happened?

The newbie village, guarded by a goddess, has fallen...

Although it seems impossible, I inexplicably understand it when it comes to Aqua, who cannot be understood by common sense.

There's no other way, I'll just have to purify it.

Seeing the zombie that was about to crawl to his feet and reach out to grab something, Kobayashi lifted his foot.

At that moment, a hoarse voice called out intermittently from beneath her.

"Kobayashi, senpai..."

"???"

There is only one person who would call himself that, and that is Kazuma Sato.

Kobayashi pulled his foot back and carefully examined the shriveled zombie. He found that apart from his attire being slightly different from what he knew, his appearance was indeed the same as his companions. He could conclude that the person in front of him was Sato Kazuma.

"Sato-kun?!"

"Kobayashi...senpai..."

"Strange, when did you become a lich?"

In Konosuba, the Adventurer class can be promoted as long as the attribute points meet the requirements. However, Kobayashi was reluctant to give up the Adventurer's ability to learn skills from other classes, so she resisted the urge to promote.

"help me……"

"By the way, you changed your class to Lich, and Aqua didn't purify you?"

Kobayashi bent down to check on his condition.

Meanwhile, Ryuko remarked sarcastically, "Lord Kobayashi, it seems that Lord Sato didn't actually become a lich, but rather that he's exhausted too much of his energy, resulting in his current state of exhaustion."

"Uh……"

Xiaolin was speechless and choked with emotion.

To be honest, the moment he heard Liu Zi say that, he realized why she was so weak.

Bearing the earnest advice befitting a senior: "Sato-kun, succubi are alluring, but don't overindulge," she simultaneously used magic.

--cure.

A pale blue light enveloped him, and then Sato Kazuma's shriveled body swelled up like a balloon, and his pale, bloodless face turned rosy.

Instantly fully recovered.

His first words after jumping up from the ground were: "That idiot goddess! What does she mean by 'I won't let that pervert who goes to the succubus shop to enjoy himself every day recover'?! I have to teach her a lesson!"

"Why don't you look for the problems within yourself?" Xiaolin couldn't help but complain.

I've never seen such a scumbag who went to a succubus shop and ruined his body like this, and then blamed others for not helping him recover.

Oh no, he saw it this time.

After finishing his complaint, Kazuma Sato immediately said to him, "Welcome back, Kobayashi-senpai! Actually..."

"Kobayashi!"

Before he could finish speaking, a blue figure rushed out of the mansion.

The aura emanating from him, the exaggerated impact, was like a giant truck that wouldn't stop until it rammed you into another world.

Before he could react, Kazuma Sato was sent flying more than ten meters away and lay motionless on the ground, seemingly on his way to meet Eris.

I should have known better than to cure him.

"Kobayashi, welcome back!"
