Unaffected by the icy mist, Loki raised his scepter and aimed at Lu Mingfei once more, the blue light now at its peak.
Peter raised his hand, and a huge spider web shot out from his wrist, spreading out in mid-air and instantly enveloping Loki, interrupting the charging of the scepter.
"Damn it! What is this?!" Loki struggled in the spider web, tearing it apart with brute force despite it being large enough to lift a car. In doing so, his invisibility was broken, revealing his true form.
"Loki!" Lu Mingfei exclaimed in surprise, and at the same time realized why the ice mist had been ineffective. His ice ability came from the ancient winter coffin that Loki had been holding.
Damn it, he's been discovered! Loki broke free from the spider web, though many webs were still stuck to his body, but they no longer hindered his movement. He quickly grabbed the Tesseract.
The next second, a golden-red Iron Man suit burst through the window, hovered beside Tony, and merged with him.
Loki stared wide-eyed at Tony, who was now fully dressed—a mortal possessing such magic?!
"He's the Loki of Asgard I told you about!" Lu Mingfei shouted, his entire body covered in black scales, wielding a silver oak sword. "Stop him!"
Lu Mingfei, Tony, Peter, and Dr. Banner surrounded Loki from all sides.
Loki's gaze swept around—mortals who could transform into giant lizards, mortals wearing magical armor, mortals who could dodge his attacks while invisible and release spider silk, and mortals who could see through his invisibility.
What the hell! Why do mortals look so much more outlandish than the Asgardians? Have I really arrived in Midgard?
Loki's mind raced as he analyzed the mortals surrounding him and how he could break free.
That mortal who can turn into a lizard is definitely no match for him. That mortal wearing magical armor doesn't look like someone to mess with either. As for that mortal who can shoot spider silk, I don't know how strong he is, but the spider silk he just shot out didn't seem like magic. It seemed more like it was sprayed out from his body. His physical structure might not be that of a mortal. Moreover, he seems to have some kind of precognitive ability. I guess he'll be difficult to deal with as well.
Loki glanced around, then fixed his gaze on the seemingly most frail-looking Dr. Banner, and gave a cold smile—
Very good, this mortal doesn't seem to have much fighting power, so I'll start my breakthrough here!
159. Chapter 158 Loki's tragic end (jpg)
The filming location for Captain America is located in the northwestern suburbs of Los Angeles, near Universal Studios Hollywood.
Loki held the scepter in one hand and stuffed the Tesseract into his cloak with the other. No one knows what he did, but when he stretched his hand out again, the Tesseract was gone.
But to Loki's surprise, he found that the expressions of the people surrounding him did not change.
Isn't the Tesseract a very precious treasure? Even the infamous Thanos cared a lot about it, so why did these mortals show no reaction when they saw that the Tesseract had been taken away?
Oh, I get it! It must be because ordinary mortals simply don't understand how precious the Cosmic Cube really is!
Loki felt he had seen through everything.
The only problem is that he doesn't seem to be able to use the Tesseract. Thanos's messenger, who gave him the scepter and asked him to come to Earth to retrieve the Tesseract, said that the Tesseract has the power to teleport at will, which is why it can open portals across the universe.
But after Loki got his hands on the Tesseract, he discovered that he couldn't use its power at all—but thinking about it, that makes sense. It would be strange if such a treasure could be used so easily, just like how only God the Father could truly unleash the power of the Spear of Eternity.
The inability to escape using the Tesseract was bad news for Loki, but fortunately, among the mortals surrounding him, there was one who looked very weak!
Gripping his scepter tightly, Loki charged toward Dr. Banner, a small but sharp dagger in his hand.
"It's up to you, Hulk!"
Dr. Banner had no intention of fighting Loki. After training with the Ancient One, he was able to share Hulk's memories. In Hulk's memory, this green-clad guy was a tenacious creature who had survived being smashed to pieces. He was not someone Dr. Banner could handle.
Loki, who was rushing toward Dr. Banner, watched as the man, who had originally looked refined and appeared to be a scholar or civil servant, suddenly turned a deep green and his body swelled up.
As Dr. Banner's size increased, Loki's pace toward him slowed down.
By the time Loki rushed up to Dr. Banner, the once-refined human had transformed into a colossal monster whose head was nearly touching the ceiling.
Coincidentally, Loki recognized this monster.
Loki looked up at the familiar monster face, then looked down at the large, toothpick-like dagger in his hand.
"You..." Loki only managed to utter one sound before Hulk grabbed one of his legs.
The next second, he was lifted up by Hulk.
"Do not--"
Hulk swung Loki and slammed him hard into the ground with a dull, loud sound.
Before Loki could react, he swung the weapon again and brought it down.
He swung it up and slammed it down.
He swung it up and smashed it repeatedly.
Lu Mingfei gripped the Silver Oak Sword and scratched his head—he felt this scene looked somewhat familiar.
Oh right, I remember now, Loki was also swung around and smashed by Hulk in the Rainbow Bridge Sanctuary in the same way.
But unlike the time at the Rainbow Bridge Temple, this time Hulk stopped halfway through his attack because a green shadow emerged from his palm.
Hulk raised his hand, in which he held only half a piece of his pants and a piece of golden armor that was clenched and deformed.
The green shadow that flew out of Hulk's palm slammed into the wall, creating a large hole, and a disheveled Loki lay in the ruins.
However, given that his physical abilities were close to those of the Asgardian frost giants, Loki managed to struggle to his feet immediately, without even dropping his scepter and dagger.
Hmm? A dagger?
Lu Mingfei glanced at the broken pieces of pants in Hulk's hand, then at the damaged part of Loki's pant leg, and suddenly realized: "Loki, you didn't cut your clothes with a dagger to escape..."
"Shut up, mortal!" Loki staggered into the ruins, pointing his scepter at Lu Mingfei, his eyes blazing with fury. "I am a god! I will not be hurt a second time by the same vile monster with the same despicable tricks!"
"Hey, you don't look like you've been unharmed at all right now, do you?" Lu Mingfei complained.
He was happy to chat with Loki a little longer, because Thor was nearby, and S.H.I.E.L.D. agents should have already informed him; Thor would arrive soon if he delayed any longer.
But not everyone is aware of the importance of procrastination, like Hulk.
After talking with Dr. Banner, Hulk's intelligence improved somewhat, though not significantly. He could clearly tell that Loki was cursing him.
Hulk then fixed his deep green eyes on Loki, his gaze menacing.
"Ha! You brainless, vile monster, don't even think about harming a god again!" Loki laughed arrogantly, and his figure disappeared from everyone's sight.
He had fought Hulk at the Rainbow Bridge Sanctuary and realized that although the giant monster was incredibly strong, he wasn't very bright. After he went invisible, the green monster couldn't detect him at all.
Lu Mingfei raised an eyebrow, about to have Tony use "Snake" to find Loki's location, when Hulk saw two magic circles appear in his hands. Then, he clasped his hands together, and as he separated them, a rope that looked like it was woven from sparks extended from between his palms.
Lu Mingfei had seen other mages practice this spell in Kamar-Taj. It was a very common and basic magic that used borrowed energy to create an energy whip that could be used to attack and bind enemies. Powerful mages could also make it cut objects like a laser.
The problem is... Hulk's energy whip is much bigger than the other mages'. If the other mages' energy whips are ropes used to restrain people, then Hulk's energy whip is used to bind elephants.
Hulk wielded the energy whip with one hand, sweeping it 180 degrees in front of him, and the energy whip naturally bound a transparent object.
The next second, the object became visible, revealing Loki, whose invisibility spell had been broken and who looked completely bewildered.
Hulk gave Loki a slightly sinister smile: "Hulk... flail!"
As Loki's expression shifted from confusion to terror, Hulk swung his energy whip, slamming Loki against a wall. With a twist of his arm, he slammed Loki against another wall, then slammed him to the ground. With a sudden jerk, he ripped Loki into the ceiling and pulled him down...
While Hulk was wielding his flail, Lu Mingfei, Tony, Peter, and Natasha had already gathered together, watching this inexplicably brutal scene unfold.
"Tony, lend me a word of power," Lu Mingfei said.
Tony opened his mask, and "Snake" was activated. Lu Mingfei met his gaze for a moment and copied "Snake".
Peter was kind-hearted and couldn't bear to see such a brutal scene, so he turned his head away.
Tony closed his mask and also felt that the scene was a bit brutal, but his attention was mainly focused on the surrounding instruments—although the laboratory was spacious, it couldn't withstand Hulk playing with his flail inside. After a few swings, a small part of the instruments that were affected had been destroyed.
Tony may have money, but he's not a fool. Although the amount of money he lost wasn't much, he couldn't just accept it with glee, could he?
unless……
With his eyes fixed on Loki, Tony remembered that Lu Mingfei had told him that this guy named Loki was Thor's brother, so... the loss of these instruments should be reimbursed by Thor using Asgardian specialties, right?
Beneath the steel mask, Tony's gaze shifted.
Beside the pensive Tony, Lu Mingfei and Natasha stood side by side.
"Isn't this considered torture?" Even a professional agent like Natasha found it hard to bear watching.
She remembered that Fury had once asked her if she would be willing to accept the mission of communicating with Dr. Banner, and she had actually recklessly said, "If S.H.I.E.L.D. needs me, I'm willing to take the risk." Now she just wanted to go back to that day and strangle Fury or herself—whoever wanted to do that kind of damn mission could do it, she would never do it!
“Don’t worry, Loki is very resilient,” Lu Mingfei said. “He shouldn’t die… probably.”
"He just stole a copy of the Tesseract? Why would he do that?" Natasha frowned.
"I guess he wanted the real Tesseract and then mistook it for the real one?" Lu Mingfei guessed. "It can't be that he was after the controllable micro nuclear fusion technology in the fake Tesseract. Asgard shouldn't lack this technology; their blacksmith shops use neutron stars as furnaces."
"A blacksmith shop? A neutron star? A furnace?" Natasha was full of questions.
"You want to know?" Lu Mingfei asked.
Natasha nodded.
Lu Mingfei said sincerely, "I'm sorry, I can't say."
"You can't just ask me if I want to know what I want to do!" Natasha roared inwardly.
For a fleeting moment, she wished she had the power of the Hulk, so she could swing Lu Mingfei around like Loki with a flail.
After smashing everything in sight, Hulk satisfiedly deactivated his energy whip and glanced at Loki, who was deeply embedded in the ground: "What a weak god."
Lu Mingfei looked at Loki, who was now completely embedded in the ground, deeply sunken in. If someone were to apply a layer of cement, they could simply brick him into the floor.
Lu Mingfei couldn't help but marvel at Loki's tenacious vitality. After being treated like that, he was still conscious and even widened his eyes—though the light in his eyes seemed to have faded.
Just as Lu Mingfei was about to go over and interrogate Loki, a bolt of lightning struck from the sky and destroyed the ceiling.
Unfortunately, Loki was right below the lightning bolt.
After the lightning shattered the ceiling, it enveloped Loki for a moment. Lu Mingfei could almost see Loki trembling in the lightning. Then the lightning disappeared, and the ceiling fragments that had been blasted with a large hole fell down with a crash, completely burying Loki, who was already buried underground.
Holding Mjolnir, with his red cape billowing behind him, Thor descended from the hole in the ceiling and landed heavily on the ruins at his feet.
Lu Mingfei could vaguely hear a faint groan from the ruins.
But unexpectedly, Saul was holding his girlfriend Jane in his arms.
"Where is Loki? Is anyone hurt?" Thor released Jane and strode towards Lu Mingfei from the ruins, asking hurriedly.
“Loki… is over there.” Lu Mingfei pointed to the ruins at Jane’s feet.
But Saul mistook it for Jane.
"Brother?" Thor's eyes widened in disbelief. "Could it be...could it be that you transformed into Jane and deceived me?"
It's no wonder Thor had this idea. He was quite familiar with Loki's abilities. In the past, when he and Loki sneaked out or went to the forbidden zone, they often relied on Loki's transformation magic to deceive others. With Loki's magical prowess, his transformation magic was extremely difficult to see through.
