121. Chapter 120: Making the Little Celestial Maiden a Half-Blood?

Lu Mingfei at home.

Lu Mingfei and Su Xiaoqiang were eating at the dining table in the living room.

"Going to Kassel College?" Su Xiaoqiang asked, puzzled. "What are you going there for? Are you enrolling right now?"

“No,” Lu Mingfei shook his head, “There are still about three months left, but I need to do some formalities in advance.”

He revealed the excuse he had prepared in advance: "Yesterday, the principal informed me that because I was specially admitted through the channel that my parents are alumni, I need to go and complete some procedures in advance, and I must be present in person."

Su Xiaoqiang didn't suspect anything, and just sighed, "Good private universities are really troublesome."

"By the way, Little Fairy, which university do you want to go to?" Lu Mingfei didn't want to talk too much about Kassel College, lest Little Fairy notice something was wrong, so he changed the subject.

Su Xiaoqiang's eyes flickered slightly, and she asked, seemingly casually, "What do you think of the teaching quality at Kassel College?"

"What do you think of the university that Senior Brother Chu went to?" Lu Mingfei asked.

Chu Zihang is the star student of Shilan Middle School, the kind that shines brightly.

"Then could you ask them if they'll be recruiting students domestically this year?" Su Xiaoqiang asked.

Lu Mingfei was taken aback, and an ominous premonition arose within him: "Little Heavenly Maiden, what do you want to do?"

“Of course, we should try applying to Kassel College,” Su Xiaoqiang said.

"Why bother with all that? Uncle Su has connections to get you into Stanford University, right? It's a top ten university in the world, no worse than Kassel College," Lu Mingfei quickly said.

Apply to Kassel College? They don't accept normal people! Lu Mingfei thought to himself.

"Why not give it a try? It's not like it's going to take much effort," Su Xiaoqiang said nonchalantly.

Seeing her nonchalant attitude, Lu Mingfei stopped trying to persuade her. Because of its public identity as a prestigious private university, Kassel College inevitably receives many applications from ordinary people. He could simply reject them; the college would decide whether to admit them or not. Ordinary people would only know that their applications were rejected, but they wouldn't know that the reason for their rejection was that the college only accepted students who were human-dragon hybrids.

After chatting with Su Xiaoqiang for a while, Lu Mingfei told her that he would be leaving the day after tomorrow—Norma had already sent him the specific schedule.

Su Xiaoqiang reminded him that it would be best to come back before July 17th.

Lu Mingfei said it was no problem; it was only the beginning of July, and he couldn't possibly be gone for more than half a month. But why did he need to be back before the 17th? Was there some special meaning behind it?

Su Xiaoqiang covered her face and said, "You idiot, July 17th is your birthday, have you forgotten?"

Lu Mingfei then showed a look of sudden realization—he had indeed forgotten. After all, ever since he could remember, his birthdays had always been celebrated casually. Although his uncle and aunt would throw a big party for Lu Mingze's birthday every year, inviting classmates over and piling up gifts like a pyramid, his birthdays were usually just a cake and a bowl of longevity noodles, with no gifts to be expected.

Of course, one need not even mention one's own parents; they wouldn't even bother sending a scheduled congratulatory email.

If he's the only one in the world who cares about his birthday, then why does he need to remember that date so clearly?

No, now there's someone who cares about his birthday, even more than he does himself.

Lu Mingfei was a little touched, but he felt that he was almost an adult and it would be too embarrassing to be moved just because it was his birthday. So he put on a cheeky smile and went over to ask Su Xiaoqiang what birthday present he was going to give him.

Su Xiaoqiang rolled her eyes at him and said she would give him a plaque that said "Happy Birthday" later.

Lu Mingfei asked shyly if the birthday plaque could be gold-plated. A pure gold plaque would be even better.

Su Xiaoqiang gave him the middle finger.

……

After some playful banter and a meal, Lu Mingfei and Su Xiaoqiang watched "The Naked Detective" for a while before going back to take a nap.

This time we didn't sleep in the same bedroom.

Entering his bedroom, Lu Mingfei casually pulled a book from the bookshelf, reading it while pondering its contents.

He had absolutely no idea that the little fairy had any chance of applying to Kassel College. Let alone her mixed blood, which was so thin that it was impossible for her to awaken, even her cousin Tulio, who had already awakened, might not be able to join Kassel College. The college had bloodline requirements for admission. A C-level bloodline basically guaranteed admission, while a D-level bloodline required selection based on merit.

However, Tony had already taught him how to prepare the bloodline enhancement potion. Theoretically, every ordinary person in his world has trace amounts of dragon genes, so it should also be able to be used to turn ordinary people into hybrids.

He did consider making the little fairy a hybrid. After all, even without considering the advantages of bloodline in terms of appearance, intelligence, and physical fitness, the lifespan of a hybrid, which far exceeds that of an ordinary person, is enough to drive most people crazy.

But he wasn't sure what the effects of the drug would be on other people.

No one in Tony's world can use this drug because its effect is to stimulate bloodlines and activate the dragon genes within them. There are no dragons in Tony's world; besides him, only Deadpool has dragon blood.

If the effect on others differs from that on him, the consequences could be unpredictable.

Even if the potion hadn't caused any accidents, the fact that she would be transformed into a hybrid would still have a significant impact on the little fairy, especially given the existence of "Blood Sorrow".

Hybrids are species that exist on the borderline between humans and dragons, not entirely belonging to either. This difference between species causes a physiological phenomenon called "blood sorrow," which prevents hybrids from opening their hearts to humans at the species level, let alone connecting with dragons. They can only huddle together for warmth among their own kind.

"The Sorrow of Blood" is relatively easy to bear for naturally mixed-race individuals. They are used to not being able to integrate into groups from a young age and have never experienced the feeling of close connection with people until they meet their own kind and find warmth.

However, for those who awaken later in life, once awakened, their past relationships with human friends will be severed by the "sorrow of blood." Even if their feelings were once very good, they will gradually drift apart due to various differences and changes.

Take Lu Mingfei himself as an example. After he awakened, he directly broke up with his uncle and aunt's family, and he was actually quite happy about it.

At Kassel College, almost all mixed-race children born to ordinary parents face the same problem: although they love their parents and their parents love them, the blood ties cause the children and parents to drift apart unconsciously, and no matter how hard they try to get closer, it is to no avail.

If he transforms the little fairy into a hybrid, under the influence of the Blood Sorrow, her original social relationships will be severed, her friends will gradually stop contacting her and become strangers, and she will also become estranged from her parents.

Unless Lu Mingfei also turns her parents into mixed-race individuals, the same problem will arise with her parents as well.

Moreover, no force has yet been able to achieve the technology to transform ordinary people into hybrids. If this were discovered, all forces would be extremely envious, and Lu Mingfei estimated that he would immediately become a piece of meat in the eyes of all forces, including Kassel College.

So although he wanted to turn the little fairy into a hybrid, he still needed to plan ahead.

Perhaps... we should tell the little fairy about being a half-blood and let her make her own choice?

Lu Mingfei thought to himself.

……

The next day, because Lu Mingfei was going to the United States the next day, Su Xiaoqiang used this as an excuse to drag Lu Mingfei out to play for a day.

They went shopping for clothes, played games at the arcade, watched a new movie, bickered with each other at a coffee shop, and took photos of each other at the aquarium—Su Xiaoqiang complained that Lu Mingfei's photography skills were like those of a caveman just getting used to a camera, while Lu Mingfei argued that it was a problem with the camera.

Later, while strolling around, Lu Mingfei and Su Xiaoqiang spotted a "balloon shooting" stall on the street. It's a game where you set up a few boards, tie balloons to them, and people shoot at them with darts or toy guns. The more balloons you shoot, the better the reward.

Lu Mingfei originally only intended to play around, but he discovered that the shopkeeper had deliberately misaligned the sights of the toy gun. In the spirit of "acting on behalf of heaven," he shot down all the balloons in one go. The shopkeeper could only hand over a mountain of prizes to Lu Mingfei with a dark face, and Lu Mingfei and Su Xiaoqiang distributed them to the children surrounding the stall.

After a fun-filled day and a big dinner, Lu Mingfei boarded a plane to Kassel College the next morning. Before boarding, Su Xiaoqiang helped him straighten his disheveled collar.

"It's your first time going to school, so you need to dress neatly! First impressions are very important, you know!" Su Xiaoqiang scolded Lu Mingfei while tidying his clothes.

In a daze, Lu Mingfei felt as if he saw Pepper taking care of Tony in the Little Fairy.

Su Xiaoqiang didn't leave the airport and go home until she saw Lu Mingfei's plane leave.

P.S.: I'm still writing the next chapter, sob sob~

122. Chapter 121: A Treasure That Can Control Dragons

Chicago, O'Hare International Airport terminal, arrivals area.

An elderly man in a loose-fitting suit shaded his eyes with his hand, staring longingly at the exit. His expectant expression teetered between that of a woman waiting for her husband to pay the bill because she hadn't brought any money with her.

Standing beside him was a tall and robust young man whose face, buried in a thick beard, was quite handsome, though his beard was greasy.

The young man held a huge sign above his head with both hands. His checkered shirt was stretched taut by his muscles, and the sign cast a large shadow in the sunlight, like a small hill.

"Raise it higher!" the old man snapped impatiently. "What if Mingfei comes and can't see it?"

“Impossible, Professor,” the young man said. “When we came in with this badge, even the security guards were watching us. Unless my new junior colleague is blind, there’s no way he wouldn’t have noticed us.”

“Seriously, Fingel!” the old man said sternly. “Your junior brother is a genius student that hasn’t appeared in forty years. Although I don’t know why the principal made me his mentor, a genius like him, as long as he grows freely, will secure my tenured professorship when he graduates, and I won’t have to be burdened by you anymore.”

“Professor Guderian, you’re belittling him in front of your only student. He’ll be heartbroken,” the burly young man said, his face contorted with a tearful, aggrieved expression, his beard gleaming in the sunlight. “Aren’t you afraid that I’ll become jealous of my junior brother, whom I’ve never met, and secretly plot against him? There are plenty of those kinds of plots in Chinese martial arts novels.”

“Once I become a tenured professor, I’ll have the opportunity to help you out, and perhaps that will allow you to graduate smoothly,” Professor Guderian said.

Fingel stood on tiptoe and held the sign as high as it could go: "I am my junior brother's strongest support!"

Professor Guderian nodded in satisfaction, then became somewhat apprehensive: "Finger, what do you think of the welcoming message I wrote on the sign? I used to study a little Chinese calligraphy, but I haven't practiced it for many years."

“Professor, you’re putting me in a difficult position,” Fingel said. “My understanding of Chinese culture comes entirely from martial arts novels. If you insist on asking for my opinion, then I suggest writing ‘The sun rises in the east, and I am invincible.’”

"The sun rises in the east... I alone am invincible..." Professor Guderian chewed on the words twice, his eyes lighting up. "That sounds so domineering! This is what an S-class genius should be like! Quick, quick, Fingel, put the sign down, I'll change it!"

……

Lu Mingfei walked out of the airport. O'Hare Airport is one of the busiest airports in the United States, so there were many people waiting to pick up passengers outside. Some people were holding up signs with the names of the people they were picking up, so that they could meet up.

Lu Mingfei immediately saw someone holding up a sign with his name on it.

It had nothing to do with how strong his insight was; it was mainly because the sign was just too big and too conspicuous.

It was nearly two meters long and about one meter wide. It was more like a door panel or tabletop than a sign.

There was a large space around the person holding the sign, as everyone was afraid that if the person holding the sign lost control, it would fall and cause collateral damage.

The person holding the sign was clearly there to pick him up, but Lu Mingfei had an instinctive urge to cover his face and run away—the sign was written in vigorous regular script: "The sun rises in the east, and I alone am invincible. Lu Mingfei, accomplished in both literature and martial arts, will reign supreme for thousands of years and unify the martial world."

The sign was also painted with gold powder, which shone brightly in the sun, almost blinding people.

Couldn't a plane crash and kill those two idiots holding up signs?

Lu Mingfei couldn't help but think.

He noticed that tourists from China were already pointing at the sign and whispering among themselves.

Lu Mingfei walked over with a stiff upper lip, and the two people holding up the signs both looked at him—it's not hard to find a high-ranking mixed-race person in the crowd; usually, you can't go wrong by staring at the one who looks the best.

After undergoing two enhancements by Tony, Lu Mingfei's appearance has also improved significantly. Even when standing next to Chu Zihang, they can be said to each have their own merits.

"You must be Professor Guderian, the one Norma mentioned?" Lu Mingfei asked the old man.

He really didn't want to come, but Norma's instructions for him to enter the school clearly stated that a school representative would take him to the school after he got off the plane, and he had to get close to this sunlit sign if he wanted to enter the school.

"You must be Mingfei! You are indeed a handsome man," the old man warmly shook hands with Lu Mingfei. "Let me introduce myself. I am Professor Guderian of the academy, and this is my student Fingel next to me. I will be your mentor after you enroll."

Despite being called a "mentor," his expression when shaking hands with Lu Mingfei was a mixture of eagerness, anticipation, and nervousness, as if Lu Mingfei were the dignified, gray-haired mentor, while he was a vibrant college student.

"Uh... Hello, Professor." Lu Mingfei shook hands with Guderian.

“This is also my student, a senior a few years ahead of you, Fingel,” Guderian said, pointing to Fingel.
