"Hi hi..."
……
Upon arriving at the main gate, Jill looked at the members guarding the area and asked, "How's the situation?"
"The other side doesn't seem to be planning an attack yet, but this place is completely surrounded."
The group member replied.
"Well... after all, they wouldn't dare to attack first..." Jill laughed. "If they attacked first, they would die a terrible death."
"Yes, after all, Captain, you are a representative of the violent style."
“Of course,” Jill laughed. “After all, my title of [Suppressor] is no joke.”
Suppressor —
The title comes from a battle in the past, where Jill single-handedly suppressed more than fifty people on the other side.
The other party respectfully bestowed this title upon Jill.
Jill sat down and chatted with them.
It started snowing outside.
"It's snowing..." Jill remarked.
"Yeah, there's going to be a fierce battle tomorrow."
“Then you can go and rest…” Jill waved her hand. “I’ll wake you up to take my shift later.”
"Yes."
……
Jill asked the template, "Template, world fragment... any clues?"
"Beep beep - Insufficient permissions to use this function."
"Tsk." Jill clicked her tongue in annoyance and sat down to recall what she had experienced over the past month.
"Judging from the looks of it, it's very likely to be Yashiro Isana..."
Gil recalled the white orb of light she received from Yashiro Isana; it seemed very likely that was it...
Jill looked at the sky.
According to intelligence, the Heavenly Kingdom—the airship carrying the Silver King—has been bombed down.
Jill lay down with her hands behind her head, looking at the sky.
"Wow... a lot has really happened..." Jill yawned.
Over the past month, Jill has experienced a series of events, including nearly collapsing due to mismanagement, joining HOMRA, and watching her benefactor die in her arms.
There are joys and sorrows...
“Mr. Tatara… tell me, why did Mikoto make this choice?” Gilles looked at the back of his hand. “Only a king can kill a king… then one of the side quests given in the template was impossible to complete…”
"Beep... The template will not give the host tasks that cannot be completed."
"Oh."
"Beep... The host's side quest progress is 0/3. The host cannot obtain any additional benefits in this way."
“It doesn’t matter if I can’t get it.” Jill stood up. “I prefer to live freely rather than carry out missions. I hate multiple-choice questions with only two options, and I also hate forcing things on others.”
"Incomprehensible."
"After all, you're just a template... Template, what are world fragments?"
"Beep... World fragments are the elements that make up a world. For some reason, some worlds were destroyed, and the remaining fragments are world fragments. These fragments are protected by other worlds, and this is also the task you, host, are tasked with collecting."
"An existence that destroys the world? What kind of existence is that?" Jill noticed this and asked.
"Insufficient permissions. You need S-level permissions to query this page."
"Okay, okay... So how do I elevate my privileges?"
"Please figure it out on your own."
"So what exactly can you do with templates...?"
Chapter Eighteen: The Green King and the Red King
Jill looked at the night sky, and a figure came up beside her.
Jill naturally noticed it.
"What's wrong, Anna?" Jill asked with a smile.
“Jill, you look very tired…” Anna sat down next to Jill.
Jill sighed as she looked at Anna's attire. Golden ripples appeared, and Jill reached in to feel around before pulling out a shawl.
Jill draped the shawl over Anna's shoulders. "This will keep you warmer."
Anna looked at Jill and couldn't help but chuckle softly, "Jill, you're so gentle."
"Gentleness and all that..." Jill lay down helplessly. "Anna, how's Brother Zun doing?"
"Zun, he's still the same..."
“Is that so…” Jill subtly touched the gemstone chain in her arms. “He’s probably already contemplating suicide… an irresponsible fellow.”
“Jill… can you save the king?” Anna asked, hugging her knees.
“Yes,” Jill nodded. “I won’t fail…”
Jill turned to look at Anna. "Have you forgotten, Anna? I made a promise with you."
Jill held up her right pinky finger. "If you're still worried, let's make another appointment, shall we?"
“No, I believe in Jill… Jill, will you come back?” Anna asked.
Jill was silent for a moment before sighing and replying, "I should... no, I should say, I will come back."
Jill looked at the distant sky. "Hey, Anna, do you know what?"
"?" Anna tilted her head and looked at Jill.
“I bear this power… and I have things I must do.” Gil clenched his fist tightly. “So I’m leaving… instead of staying in HOMRA forever.”
"Phew... I knew it! So you were hiding something from us, kid. Oh, I see." Another voice rang out, and Kusanagi walked over carrying a tray with several bowls of noodles. "Here you go, the ramen is here."
“Mr. Kusanagi…” Gil was somewhat taken aback.
"Let's take care of your stomach first. This is the first time I've seen you eat on your own in days, so I brought it for you myself. I never expected you were hiding such a big secret." Kusanagi was about to put the tray down when Gil snapped his fingers. A ripple appeared on the ground, and a golden table appeared there.
"This is really convenient." Kusanagi put the tray down.
“…” Jill remained silent.
"Why think so much?" Kusanagi patted Gil's head. "Eat noodles."
Kusanagi handed Anna a bowl of bright red noodles with some unknown substance added, and gave one of the other two bowls to Jill, while also handing chopsticks to both of them.
“I’m going to start eating…” Jill performed the ritual according to custom and began devouring the food.
A moment later, both Kusanagi and Gil put down their chopsticks.
“Gill, I don’t want to say much, but as long as you’re still a member of HOMRA, you’re always welcome back here,” Kusanagi said, lighting a cigarette.
“Kusanagi-san, you look like an old woman,” Gil remarked.
"Sigh... Little Gil, you're so heartless..." Kusanagi sighed.
“I know.” Jill looked up and smiled. “This is where I started…”
Jill looked into the distance and said, "I'm very happy these past month or so."
“The gentle Mr. Tatara, the straightforward Mr. Yata, the motherly Mr. Kusanagi, the caring senior who is fat, the lovely Anna… and, Mr. Mikoto who told me what a [King] is.”
“HOMRA has given me a new beginning.” Gil smiled as he looked up at the sky. “I also want to do a few last things for everyone before I leave.”
"You little rascal..." Kusanagi smiled helplessly, "Well then, good luck."
“Hmph, of course,” Jill replied with a smile.
Anna looked at Jill and Kusanagi and couldn't help but laugh.
……
the other side.
I met Zun and Zongxiang on the stone steps.
Tadakatsu looked at Munakata and couldn't help but chuckle, "Doesn't breathing the same air as me make you nauseous?"
Zong chuckled and replied, "Sometimes I do crave inhaling some poison gas."
The Blue King and the Red King no longer had the usual tense atmosphere; instead, they looked more like friends.
Munakata took out a pack of cigarettes, put one in his mouth, and then took out another one and pointed it at Mikoto.
Zun paused for a moment, then took the cigarette and put it in his mouth.
Munakata reached into his pocket, intending to grab a lighter.
Zun smiled, walked up to him, placed his hand in front of the cigarette, flicked it, and a burst of flame ignited the cigarette Munakata was holding in his mouth.
Then, he walked past Munakata, sat down on the stone steps, and lit a cigarette for himself.
Munakata looked at Mikoto and gave a somewhat helpless smile.
After a moment, Munakata spoke first.
“I’ve been straightforward: we’re leaving this school peacefully now. This has involved innocent high school students, and we can’t stand idly by. Leaving now leaves room to minimize the damage.”
“That’s a good idea… Did you think I would say that?” Zun exhaled a puff of smoke and said.
"This isn't a suggestion, it's an ultimatum. Suoh, you've gone too far this time. Otherwise, at least hand over that prisoner who calls himself the Colorless King to us, if you agree. I'll torture him to death as you wish."
While listening to Munakata's suggestion, Tadashi smoked a cigarette. After Munakata finished speaking, he chuckled and said, "I didn't expect you to have such an interesting suggestion. But I refuse."
“You should know how badly your Sword of Damocles is in condition. A sword is a symbol of the king, and it can faithfully reflect the king’s condition. And your sword… will soon fall.” Munakata said solemnly.
