Roar!
A roar suddenly erupted, and the sphere transformed into a gigantic dragon, its cold, vertical pupils carrying a human-like mockery.
The students felt a chill run down their spines, and in their excitement, they all trembled involuntarily. Lupin and Snape also broke out in a cold sweat.
Why did you have to become the most destructive creature in the magical world?
Thankfully, it was just a Boggart. If it were a real dragon, even the two of them together would have a hard time over a dragon of that size. It would probably take Dumbledore to subdue it.
Aaron raised an eyebrow as he looked at the low-quality replica of Smaug in front of him.
His size was only ten meters, and the pressure he exerted was less than one-tenth of that of Smaug.
That makes sense, though. Boggarts have their limits when it comes to shapeshifting. If they could perfectly mimic a shapeshifter, they would be the most powerful creature in the magical world.
A white magic circle appeared on Aaron's right, and he took out a black arrow from it.
This was one of the weapons that killed Smaug, which he secretly preserved, and no one knew about it.
Aaron fixed his gaze on the wound on Smaug's left chest, sneered, and charged forward.
He was able to kill Smaug back then because of Bard's divine assistance. Now, although he has no helper, his opponent is only a pseudo-dragon, and he is confident that he can handle it.
"Hilarious, hilarious." ×2.
Professors Snape and Lupin cast their spells simultaneously, and Boggart screamed as he transformed into a wisp of blue smoke and swiftly disappeared into the cabinet, dodging Aaron's fatal blow.
Aaron had to stop halfway. "Um... Professor, shall we continue?"
“You don’t need to,” Professor Lupin said, still shaken. “This lesson is for you to deal with Boggart, not to overcome your fears.”
He dared not let Aaron continue. The creatures that Boggart conjured based on his inner fears were increasingly exaggerated, and there was a real possibility that a teaching accident might occur.
“Professor Snape.” Aaron looked at him expectantly, his meaning clear: I didn’t embarrass you, did I?
Snape's lips twitched, and he slowly nodded.
"Gaius, was that dragon... real?"
"How could that be?" Aaron said with a straight face, "That was a birthday present from my grandfather. He thought I was too timid, so he gave me a realistic toy model to help me overcome my fear."
"You guys...you weren't scared, were you?"
The Gryffindors looked at each other in disbelief; they still thought it was true!
A dragon is much more exciting than spiders, cobras, or severed hands.
Snape and Lupin exchanged a glance; the former remained silent, while the latter stepped forward and coughed a few times.
That's all for today's class. Go to the back and get your books.
Also, everyone did very well in this class. Homework is due next Monday: summarize Boggart in simple terms. As for the word count... that's up to you, but don't just give a perfunctory answer.
The students left the faculty lounge chatting and laughing. They found the Defense Against the Dark Arts class particularly useful and interesting.
Professor Lupin also received unanimous recognition from Gryffindor; at least compared to Gilderoy Lockhart, he was a fairly good professor.
"Professor Lupin, it seems your class almost went wrong!" Snape grinned triumphantly.
"But it was still a complete success." Lupin was unimpressed, because there had been explosions in Snape's Potions class as well, and his Defense Against the Dark Arts class was much safer in comparison.
"Stubborn as a mule, do you really think Harry Potter can handle Dementors?"
“That’s why I stepped in front of him in time,” Lupin said. “As for the Dementor… I’ll teach him the Patronus Charm.”
"What a responsible and good teacher!" Snape said sarcastically.
Hearing this, Aaron silently complained to himself.
He was sure Snape had considered teaching Harry Potter the spell, but he couldn't bring himself to do it.
Now that there's a ready-made tool for them, they're probably very happy!
“Gaius, Slytherin is not a good fit for you,” Lupin said suddenly. “If you would like, I can talk to Professor McGonagall about transferring you to Gryffindor.”
"Lupin." Snape's face darkened instantly. "Trying to poach a student right in front of the Slytherin headmaster, and a third-year Slytherin at that? Have you no shame?"
"I was just suggesting it; if he doesn't want to, he can just pretend I didn't say anything," Professor Lu Ping quickly added.
Snape gave him a cold look, then left with Aaron.
"Professor," Aaron hesitated as they walked down the hallway, "what kind of person is Professor Lupin?"
“You’d better stay away from him,” Snape said meaningfully. “That’s my advice to you.”
"A werewolf?"
Snape stopped and turned to look at Aaron. After a long silence, he asked, "How did you know? When did you find out?"
Aaron picked up Abe. "On the train, it told me that Professor Lupin had a beast living inside him."
At that time, I thought he was a schizophrenic, but just now Boggart turned into a full moon in front of him... It seems that normal humans are not afraid of the moon!
A beast dwells within me, I fear the moon; I can't think of anyone but a werewolf.
"Your observation is very keen," Snape said with a hint of satisfaction. "I was strongly against having a werewolf as a professor, but since the headmaster agreed, there was nothing I could do."
However, there's no need to worry about the student's safety; I will deliver the wolfsbane medicine to him before the full moon.
“I suddenly feel a little sorry for him,” Aaron said thoughtfully. “Werewolves have a low status in human society, so it’s no wonder his clothes and suitcase are all tattered.”
“You’d better put away your sympathy,” Snape warned sternly. “When he’s human, he can still have some sense of reason, but when he turns into a wolf, he’ll tear even his closest people to shreds.”
If you are lucky enough to encounter a werewolf on a full moon night, the best thing to do is...
"run?"
"Running is only a last resort; the best course of action is to kill him."
"Ah this..."
Aaron was a bit confused. He didn't think Snape was wrong, but the problem was that their current Defense Against the Dark Arts professor was a werewolf.
If you don't know them, that's one thing, but it's a bit difficult to kill a teacher!
"From now on, let's just stay in the dorm on full moon nights!" Aaron said. "Out of sight, out of mind. If we really can't avoid it... then we'll beat them half to death."
"Break all four of his limbs, and he won't be much of a threat."
Upon hearing this, Snape raised an eyebrow. "If you can do it... I have no objection."
“I have it, so doing this is really not difficult.” Aaron pointed meaningfully to Abe in his arms, who proudly raised his head.
Snape's eye twitched slightly, and he opened his mouth as if to say something but then hesitated.
He almost forgot that Aaron had raised a dragon. It's true that werewolves are ferocious, but they are no match for dragons.
Moreover, Aaron and his pets are practically inseparable, so their safety is absolutely guaranteed.
"It seems you don't need me to worry about you."
After Snape finished speaking, he walked forward on his own, but Aaron followed behind him.
"That's all for you, go back and rest!"
"Uh... Professor, I have a few more questions."
"explain."
"Is Sirius Black really here to kill Harry Potter?"
Snape frowned deeply. "Why are you asking this?"
"It's nothing, I'm just a little curious. I feel like there's something wrong with this place, but I can't quite put my finger on it."
“Mind your own business,” Snape scoffed. “Can you think of any other reason than to kill Harry Potter?”
Sirius Black went to great lengths to escape from Hogwarts; he couldn't have just returned to reminisce about the past, could he?
Aaron: ......
It makes so much sense, I'm speechless.
"Any thing else?"
"Hmm... if Dumbledore wants to find me?"
“You are my student. As long as it’s not too important, I will help you stop it or pass on the message,” Snape said earnestly.
Aaron breathed a sigh of relief and then picked up Abel and carried him to the Slytherin common room.
Snape watched him walk away, let out a long sigh, and then changed direction and headed towards the eighth floor of the castle.
Snape entered through an oak door via a spiral staircase.
“You’ve arrived, Severus.” Dumbledore gestured with his teacup. “Would you like some honey tea?”
"No."
Snape walked to the headmaster's desk and sat down in the chair opposite him, expressionless.
Dumbledore shrugged and placed the teapot on the table. "What did the Boggart become in his presence?"
“It’s much more exaggerated than you think,” Snape mused. “Aaron doesn’t seem to be particularly afraid of anything. Boggart transformed in front of him four times, but failed each time.”
"What did it become?"
“Three completely different people, but he cursed back at all three of them.”
The fourth one was a dragon, but he wasn't afraid. Instead, he picked up his weapon and charged forward.
"If Lupin and I hadn't intervened in time, that Boggart might have been seriously injured."
Snape spoke patiently, and Dumbledore remained silent for a long time after listening. "It seems he is much more optimistic and stronger than I thought. I am ashamed of myself for that."
Chapter 307, from the perspective of the fifth floor, can't even imitate handwriting?
“I don’t understand, Headmaster,” Snape asked with a stern face. “Why would you be interested in something like this?”
“I just want to learn more about the heir of the Gaius family.” A wise glint flashed in Dumbledore’s eyes as he smiled and said, “I believe you can also see that he is somewhat wary of me, the headmaster, at Hogwarts.”
Upon hearing this, Snape silently scoffed inwardly.
It's perfectly normal to be wary of someone who's always trying to get others hooked up with their schemes.
“Principal, I hope this won’t happen again.”
