Bilbo glanced at the two wizards and asked, somewhat puzzled, "This is a wizarding council, aren't you curious?"

"Because I'm afraid of trouble." Aaron shrugged frankly. "Past experience has taught me that trouble is unavoidable; it will always appear at an unexpected time and in an unexpected place."

However, actively provoking someone and being provoked are two completely different things.

Bilbo seemed to understand, but also deeply agreed with it.

If Gandalf hadn't arranged the dwarves' meeting at his house, he wouldn't have signed any contracts and would probably be comfortably lounging in a chair smoking right now.

Ouch!

Just then, a wolf howl echoed through the forest.

The dwarves immediately became alert, and Gandalf and Redagast quickly returned.

“That’s a wolf howl. Are there wolves here?” Bilbo asked.

"No, that's not a wolf." Nori gripped his weapon tightly, his mind racing as he looked around.

“It’s a giant wolf.” Aaron saw a brown giant wolf, over a meter tall, staring down at them. He immediately drew his bow and shot an arrow.

puff!

The arrow pierced the giant wolf's skull, and just as it was about to pounce, it fell from mid-air.

A second giant wolf charged down from another direction, and a group of dwarves swarmed forward, attacking with swords, axes, and hammers.

Thorin swung his sword and slashed the giant wolf across the neck, killing it.

But he couldn't feel happy at all; instead, his face was full of solemnity. "The dire wolf scouts, that is, the orc army, are nearby."

"An army of orcs?" Bilbo panicked. He hadn't even recovered from the shadow of the trolls when he was plunged into an even greater one.

"Besides your people, who else have you mentioned the expedition to?" Gandalf asked Thorin anxiously.

"No one else."

"Who did you mention it to?" Gandalf asked again, his tone becoming somewhat stern.

"I swear there was no one else."

Hearing this, Gandalf became even more anxious.

Since the expedition plan was decided by him and Thorin, if Thorin didn't leak it, then the only one who could have leaked it was him, but that's impossible.

Chapter 241 The Orcs' Ambush

“That…it might just be a coincidence.” Aaron slowly raised his right hand. “Don’t forget, omens aren’t only visible to dwarves.”

Upon hearing this, Gandalf and Thorin both calmed down.

"What exactly happened?" Thorin asked in a cold voice.

Gandalf's expression was grave. "We are being hunted."

“We have to get out of here,” Dwarin said.

“There’s nothing we can do, we don’t have any ponies,” Ollie said as he ran over. “They’ve run away.”

“Then we have no choice but to fight to the death.” Aaron took a deep breath. “I have twelve arrows here, enough to kill twelve enemies.”

With a dozen or so warriors and two wizards added, they might be able to fight their way out.

“This is a last resort,” Gandalf said. “We might be able to wipe out the Orc scouts, but what about the rest of the army?”

There's no way we can fight an army; we need to find a way to escape.

“I’ll distract them,” said the brown-robed wizard Redagast.

“Those are Gangabaean wolves; they will catch you.” Gandalf didn’t quite approve of the suggestion. If anything happened to the Brown Wizard, it would be a huge loss to Middle-earth.

"How about I go?"

As soon as he finished speaking, everyone turned their attention to Aaron, and the woods became unusually quiet.

“No,” Bilbo said immediately. “It’s too dangerous. You can’t outrun those wolves on two legs.”

"We have to give it a try," Aaron laughed. "If we're lucky, we might be able to escape."

“Now is not the time to believe in luck!” Redagast confidently pointed to his vehicle. “These are Rosgarburg rabbits. It’s hard to say who will win.”

......

Rydagist drove a sled pulled by the rabbits of Rosgarburg across the green fields, shouting loudly as he lured away the dire wolf scouts scattered in all directions.

The rest of the group hid behind a large rock. Seeing that the dire wolf scout had been lured away, Gandalf immediately led the group to take a detour from the other side.

Even so, it was extremely dangerous, because they were on a plain with only irregular boulders to provide cover, but any movement would expose them to the orcs.

Redagast moved quickly, leading a large number of dire wolf scouts around the plains, but he did not lure all the scouts away.

A half-orc stopped in the pursuit, his Gangdaba wolf sniffing around as if he had spotted the expedition's trail.

The dire wolf led him to a large rock, then stopped, indicating that the orc dwarves on its back were nearby.

The orc drew his greatsword from his back, looked around, and searched for a target to hunt.

Beneath the boulder, the entire expedition team heard the heavy breathing of the dire wolf and pressed themselves against the rock wall, not daring to make a sound.

It wasn't that they couldn't handle the orc, but rather that they were worried about making a scene and revealing their location.

But after a dozen seconds, the dire wolf was still on it and hadn't left.

Thorin realized it was only a matter of time before they discovered them, so he immediately decided to strike first.

He winked at Qili, signaling him to use the bow and arrow.

Qili nodded slightly, pulled an arrow from his quiver, and shot it into the head of the dire wolf.

The dire wolf howled in pain, violently shaking the orc on its back. Kili immediately fired a second arrow, which struck the orc in the chest.

The dire wolf and the orc on its back fell from the boulder at the same time, and five or six dwarves rushed forward and killed them in the shortest possible time.

But the screams of the dire wolves and orcs were particularly clear on the plains, and the dire wolf scouts who had been lured away by Redagast all stopped and looked in the direction from which the sounds came.

"That short bastard is over there." The leading orc immediately ordered, "Go after him!"

The howls of wolves continued to rise, and the sound of galloping horses grew closer and closer.

"Run!" Aaron shouted immediately.

Gandalf also realized that something was wrong, "Follow me, quickly."

Two legs can't outrun four legs, especially four huge wolf legs. Before long, several dire wolves appeared in front of the expedition team, and an orc was watching them menacingly.

More and more dire wolves arrived from all directions, and the dire wolf scouts formed a huge encirclement.

"We're surrounded." Aaron let out a long sigh and pulled Bilbo behind him.

"Hold the line!" Thorin roared. The dwarves spontaneously formed a circle, each taking up their weapons and facing the slowly approaching dire wolf scouts with tense tension.

Bilbo frantically drew his short sword. "What do we do now?"

"Of course, we should wipe them out."

As Aaron spoke, he took out two arrows from behind his back and aimed them at the two nearest dire wolves.

Two arrows were fired simultaneously, each piercing the skull of the dire wolves, and the orcs on their backs fell to the ground.

Kili immediately followed up with another arrow, killing the two orcs.

"Well shot," Dvalin praised.

"No matter how good they are, it's useless. There are too many of them, several times more than us." Aaron gave a bitter smile. "Kili, give me your arrows."

"Later, concentrate your forces and break out in one direction. I will try my best to cover your retreat."

"Then what will you do?" Bilbo asked worriedly.

“I will catch up with you. These orcs can’t kill me,” Aaron said in a deep voice.

He wouldn't use magic unless absolutely necessary, but when that happened, he wouldn't hold back and would kill all the dire wolf scouts so no one would know his true strength.

“What about Gandalf?” O’Neill asked.

“He abandoned us,” Dwarin said.

The lead orc, riding a dire wolf, slowly approached. Upon seeing his prey all there, he laughed triumphantly, revealing sharp, disgusting yellow teeth.

"That's fucking disgusting." Aaron curled his lip in disgust.

Oli took out his slingshot and fired a pebble.

The stone hit the dire wolf on the head, but it didn't hurt or itch.

call out!

Aaron fired an arrow, and the lead orc immediately ducked to avoid it.

But in that instant, Aaron's second arrow struck the dire wolf in the waist, and the lead orc fell to the ground as the dire wolf shook violently.

"Damn scum." The lead orc roughly pulled the arrow from the dire wolf and said in a hoarse voice, "I'll kill you first."

"To catch the thief, first catch the king," Aaron whispered as he walked to Thorin's side.

"This principle doesn't apply to these beasts. Whether the leader is dead or not, they won't give up hunting us."

"I know, but the leader is still very important."

When I kill him, you lead the charge and break through from his direction.

Thorin looked at Aaron intently, utterly astonished by the thirteen-year-old boy. "How confident are you that you'll survive?"

"Well... if nothing unexpected happens, even if you all die, I'll still be perfectly fine."

“I understand.” Thorin nodded heavily. “I never imagined I would entrust the safety of the expedition to a child.”

"Kili, give him your arrow."

"Thorin, this..."

"give him."

"Yes."

Qili put the remaining ten or so arrows into Aaron's quiver. "You must come back alive."
