Besides, I think even a tough new job is much better than being a servant in the Malfoy family.
Harry pursed his lips, feeling a little uneasy.
He could hear the regret in Dobby's words, but he was also living under someone else's roof and had no way to help.
“Perhaps you could go to Dumbledore,” Aaron suggested. “The most powerful white wizard of this century wouldn’t be worried about Malfoy’s retaliation, and Hogwarts could easily provide a job for a house-elves.”
The salary isn't very high, but it includes meals and accommodation, there's no abuse, and... you can quit if you don't want to work there anymore.
Harry and Dobby exchanged a glance, and bright smiles appeared on their faces.
They had all forgotten where they were. Hogwarts could perfectly solve Dobby's job problem, and Dumbledore certainly wouldn't refuse.
"Thank you, Aaron," Harry said excitedly, and rushed towards the door with Dobby.
There's still some time before curfew; if they're lucky, they can finalize things tonight.
Aaron watched Harry and Dobby's figures disappear through the door, his cheeks twitching involuntarily.
Who is this?
They showed no sincerity when they came, and left so hastily, just a simple thank you.
......
The next morning, Mrs. Pomfrey kindly removed Aaron's bandages and brought him a particularly lavish and nutritious breakfast, including four chicken legs for Abe.
"The breakfast at the school hospital is a bit too extravagant."
Aaron stared blankly at his plate. When Harry was hospitalized, it was just pumpkin porridge, but here it was fish, meat, eggs, milk, and beans.
Even though he was the only one among the patients who could breathe and speak, this differential treatment still made him somewhat uneasy.
“Professor Snape specifically reminded me that you need to replenish your nutrition,” Madam Pomfrey explained with a smile. “Besides, Professor McGonagall announced last night that you were one of the heroes in solving the Chamber of Secrets incident, so I have to arrange for you to have a good meal.”
"So this is ah!"
Aaron was touched; his dean really knew how to care for people.
It's a shame that no one else even bothered to come and see him. Thumbs down.
Just as he was thinking this, Professor Sprout and Professor McGonagall appeared at the door, carrying several glass bottles emitting white steam, their faces beaming with joy.
“Gaius.” Professor McGonagall walked to Aaron’s bedside, tapped her wand lightly, and a pile of gifts appeared at the foot of his bed.
"These are all gifts from your friends. Harry even asked me to prepare a fruit basket for you."
They blocked the school hospital early in the morning; many people from all four colleges came, but Mrs. Pomfrey didn't let them in, otherwise it would interfere with our efforts to de-petrify the five victims.
Click! Click!
Aaron blinked, and inexplicably felt a throbbing pain in his cheek. Just as he was about to say something, a white shadow darted into the pile of gifts.
Abe excitedly picked and chose, stuffing various snacks into his pockets one by one. The pile of gifts dwindled at a visible speed, leaving only a few bouquets of flowers in the end.
Professor McGonagall couldn't help but shrug at Aaron, "I delivered the gift, and I have no objection to having Abe accept it on your behalf."
Aaron forced a smile, then grabbed the smug Abe and pulled him in front of him, poking it hard on the forehead twice. "Being greedy is one thing, but at least have some manners when you eat!"
Abe rubbed her forehead in grievance, then immediately took out a box of cookies from her pocket, looking directly at Aaron with her clear eyes: "If you're not full, come ask me for more."
Aaron: ......
Just bear with it! After all, it's the dragon cub that grew up with me.
"Haha!" Professor McGonagall laughed heartily. "I'm relieved to see you all in such good spirits."
"I'm sorry, Professor, I'm sorry you had to see this," Aaron said helplessly. "Are those Mandela Herbal Potions?"
“Yes, Professor Sprout and Mrs. Pomfrey concocted it together last night.” Professor McGonagall said, flicking her wand. The brownish-green potion flew from the bottle and landed on Mrs. Lorris, Colin Crevy, Justin Finley, Penelope Crevyat, and Ghost Nick.
The medicine easily absorbed into their bodies, and the petrification quickly subsided.
A few seconds later, Colin Crevey, who was next to Aaron, blinked and then let out a horrified scream.
"Ah! A snake, a huge snake..."
The others weren't in much better shape either. Mrs. Lorris leaped onto the windowsill, Nick crashed into the wall, and Justin rolled off the bed.
Only Ravenclaw's prefect Penelope Crivart remained relatively calm. After a slight tremor, she reached into her pocket, presumably looking for her wand.
"Alright, everyone." Professor McGonagall gestured with her hand, her voice carrying a comforting power, and the five patients who had just recovered gradually calmed down.
"The basilisk that harmed you is dead, the mastermind behind the Chamber of Secrets incident has been dealt with, and Hogwarts is safe."
Upon hearing this, the victims exchanged bewildered glances, momentarily stunned.
"It's really lucky to have escaped with our lives," Aaron said with a smile while enjoying his breakfast. "Especially since all five victims survived, it's definitely a stroke of luck."
“Five victims?” Penelope pondered for a moment, her gaze sweeping across the university hospital. “But there are six patients here!”
“You should really thank the sixth wounded man; it was Mr. Gaius who saved you,” Professor McGonagall said.
Aaron's heart skipped a beat, and he immediately said, "I only helped find the secret chamber. Harry Potter, Ron, and Hermione were the main force. They are the ones who truly deserve credit."
Professor McGonagall rolled her eyes at him helplessly, but Aaron glared back without any politeness.
What happened to minimizing my presence? Don't you know that the victim's voice is many times louder than anyone else's?
“I knew Harry Potter was innocent,” Colin, a Harry Potter fanatic, said, his face flushed. “He must have saved us and killed that giant snake.”
Aaron raised an eyebrow and silently gave Colin a hundred thumbs up in his mind.
Well said. It would be best to promote Harry Potter's great achievements at school after he is discharged from the hospital, so that the attention he receives will naturally decrease.
Chapter 200 Dumbledore's Rhetoric
goo~
Justin's stomach growled at an inopportune moment. He gave an awkward laugh and then turned his gaze to the plate next to Aaron.
There were four steaming hot chicken legs on the plate, and one of the five victims happened to be a ghost who couldn't eat, so there were just enough for them.
"Are these prepared for us?"
As soon as he finished speaking, Abe jumped in front of the plate and glared fiercely at Justin.
How dare you snatch food from the dragon's mouth? Do you have a death wish?
"Uh...it seems it wasn't prepared for us."
“Obviously,” Aaron shrugged. “Of course, if you want to compete with my cat for food…”
Abe opened his mouth, revealing two rows of sharp teeth.
Upon seeing this, Justin couldn't help but shudder; he actually felt a pressure emanating from Abe that was no weaker than that of the giant serpent...
An illusion must be an illusion.
This cat looks completely harmless. Even its snarling when it's guarding its food is adorably silly. Even Senior Penelope's attention was drawn to it. How could it possibly be associated with a terrifying monster?
"Breakfast time is over," Professor McGonagall said with a smile. "But there's a banquet waiting for you tonight. Dumbledore wants you all to relax, so you can celebrate until tomorrow morning."
“Before that, you will need to be hospitalized and undergo examinations,” Mrs. Pomfrey said seriously. “An hour or two will be enough. We need to make sure that the Mandela Herbal Potion has completely eliminated your negative effects.”
Aaron gave the group a sympathetic look, then got out of bed. "Mrs. Pomfrey, may I leave now?"
“Of course, Mr. Gaius, anytime.”
Aaron gave Abe a look, and it nodded excitedly, wiped its drool, and quickly started munching on its breakfast.
In less than a minute, the four chicken legs were reduced to chicken bones, and Abe patted his belly with satisfaction.
"This..." Colin's eyes widened. "It can eat way too much!"
“That’s not important.” Penelope looked at Aaron and said shyly, “Can I hug it?”
"Let's do it next time, senior."
It just finished eating; I need to take it to digest.
Aaron picked up the heavy pet and walked out of the school hospital.
"Professor McGonagall, can you tell us what has happened these past few days?" Colin asked curiously. "How did Harry Potter find the Chamber of Secrets, defeat the Basilisk, and capture the mastermind behind it all?"
“This…” Professor McGonagall and Professor Sprout exchanged a glance. “Mr. Crevy, you can go and ask Harry Potter yourself.”
We'll be leaving now. Everyone will be so happy to know you've recovered.
......
Slytherin common room.
Aaron attracted many admiring glances from the Slytherins as soon as he walked in.
The first-grade students, in particular, could hardly contain their admiration.
This was one of the four who found the Chamber of Secrets, and he had even subtly suppressed the brilliance of the three Gryffindors; he was the face of Slytherin.
Why are you all looking at me?
Final exams are coming up soon, don't you guys need to study?
Aaron was highly respected in Slytherin, even more so than the prefects. When he uttered a single sentence, many students looked away in embarrassment.
A little girl mustered her courage, blushed, and walked up to Aaron. "Senior, my name is Xilin. Can you give me your autograph?"
Aaron was stunned for a moment, feeling helpless.
He's certainly experienced the troubles of being a celebrity, but he's still luckier than Harry. At least his fans are much more rational than Colin's, and she's quite a cute young girl.
Aaron noticed the girl's admiring gaze and couldn't help but chuckle. "I've never signed an autograph before, and I don't think my autograph has any value."
However, you're the first person to make this request of me, so it wouldn't be appropriate to refuse.
"So you agree, senior?" Sirin excitedly took out a pen and paper and handed them to Aaron expectantly.
"You've come prepared!" Aaron looked at her with some admiration. "But not now. Come back to me after you've passed all your final exams!"
Although it was a pity, Sirin nodded.
"Not bad!" Neller walked over and said with a meaningful smile, "You've even learned to make empty promises to your juniors."
"I took my first autograph really seriously, but I've been having a pretty quiet time lately. When did I become so popular?"
“After last night.”
