The others stared at them in astonishment, their faces filled with disbelief.
It's one thing if it wasn't Aaron and Draco, but Crabbe and Goyle actually got full marks? That's ridiculous.
Only Hermione looked at Aaron with displeasure. She knew very well what level Crabbe and Goyle were at; they couldn't possibly answer all the questions. Someone must have helped them.
As for who helped them, she couldn't be bothered to guess.
What annoyed her was that Aaron knew all the correct answers, which meant he was also a big fan of Professor Lockhart.
But he was quite disdainful of Lockhart in the auditorium, and now he has told all the answers to others.
He clearly admires Professor Lockhart, but he doesn't show it at all.
It's only been one holiday! How come he's changed so much?
Lockhart continued to look through the students' exam papers. None of the remaining students had given the correct answers, but one or two actually took the opportunity to ask him for autographs, which made him marvel at the enthusiasm of his fans.
Lockhart frowned as he looked at the last exam paper.
He glanced somewhat guiltily at the students below the podium, but his expression remained unchanged. "Who is Aaron Gaius?"
“It’s me.” Aaron calmly raised his right hand.
"What do you mean by that sentence you wrote on the exam paper?" Lockhart said with a forced smile. "Who makes you think you can be my teacher?"
The classroom suddenly fell silent, and everyone looked at Aaron. Apart from a few Lockhart die-hard fans who were a little angry, everyone else's eyes were full of excitement.
They had similar doubts, but lacked the courage to question the professor. Unexpectedly, Aaron voiced everyone's thoughts in the very first class.
"It means exactly what it says?" Aaron looked Lockhart straight in the eye, without flinching. "What makes you think you can be my teacher?"
Lockhart chuckled. "You're quite the joker."
"This is not a joke, I'm serious."
I don't think Professor Lockhart would refuse to answer his students' questions!
Lockhart hesitated for a moment, and the smile on his face gradually faded. "I think I gave the perfect answer when I entered the classroom."
"But I don't think so."
"I need a more accurate answer, not some offhand resume," Aaron said seriously. "By the way, didn't you just say you banished the ghost of Wanlun?"
Could you please demonstrate how you did it back then?
"This..." Lockhart stammered, "I..."
“Aaron, you’ve gone too far,” Hermione said in a low voice. “Apologize to Professor Lockhart right now. He’s one of the greatest wizards of this century. He won’t hold it against you.”
Hearing this, Aaron was both amused and exasperated.
He knew Hermione was giving both sides a way out; putting on a show might resolve the conflict, but the problem was he didn't need it.
"Hermione, I have to tell you that what's written in the books isn't necessarily true."
“Well said,” Lockhart clapped. “I completely agree with what Mr. Gaius said, and I plan to add it to my next book. You don’t mind, do you?”
"Whatever makes you happy, I didn't say that," Aaron said impatiently. "Then could you demonstrate how you did it back then?"
“Of course…no.” Lockhart gave Aaron an apologetic look, then looked at the somewhat disappointed students. “It’s not that I don’t want to demonstrate, but the power of this magic is too great.”
If this were to happen, this classroom might be lost; I have to think about the safety of my students.
Lockhart spoke with absolute certainty, and the students had no doubts; after all, powerful wizards were not ordinary in their destructive power when they fought.
“It’s alright.” Aaron smiled nonchalantly. “We can go to the playground to admire the professor’s magic. I can ask Headmaster Snape for permission.”
I think he's more eager than anyone to see the Defense Against the Dark Arts professor's abilities.
Lockhart paused for a moment, then chuckled and said, "I'm afraid that won't work either."
That spell is probably much more powerful than you think; I'm worried it might destroy the playground.
Even with a repair spell, it will take one or two weeks to heal, which will seriously affect the students' activities.
"hehe!"
Aaron sneered inwardly. This wouldn't work, that wouldn't work; he couldn't think of any other possibility but his own guilty conscience.
"Professor Lockhart is amazing!" Susan, sitting in the front row, said with admiration.
Aaron stumbled and almost lost his balance. This girl's IQ wasn't usually this low, so how did her brain suddenly become damaged?
"Does the professor have any other ways to prove his abilities?"
“Of course there is.” Lockhart pulled out a large cage covered with a cloth from behind the podium, then gave Aaron a look. “Don’t be scared!”
Aaron sat up straight and nodded, then gestured for him to begin his performance.
Lockhart took out his wand and looked at everyone seriously. "Let me make it clear beforehand that my duty in this classroom is to teach you how to fight against the most evil magical creatures and confront the fears deep within your hearts."
Of course, as long as I'm here, you'll all be unharmed. Please don't scream, because that will anger them.
These words were very impactful, and the atmosphere in the classroom became heavy. The students sitting in the front row involuntarily leaned back, trying to get as far away from the cage as possible.
Lockhart lifted the cover, revealing a cage filled with eight-inch-long, bluish-gray creatures that gripped the cage tightly, shaking it and making chirping noises.
But their size, the same as that of a Mandela seedling, makes it impossible to associate them with the word "dangerous."
Chapter 146 Assessment complete: This guy is trash.
The students in the classroom stared in surprise at the Cornish elf in the cage. Some were trying to suppress their laughter, some looked disdainful, and others looked at Lockhart, hoping that the professor could give them a perfect explanation.
“That’s right, a Cornish elf we just caught.” Lockhart gave Aaron a meaningful look. “Cunning elves are very troublesome.”
“But Professor, they’re not that dangerous, are they?” Seamus Finigan said with a sneer.
“Laugh all you want, Mr. Finnigan,” Lockhart said, turning around and suddenly opening the cage.
The Cornish elves burst out of their cages like madmen, swarming around the classroom like locusts and wreaking havoc.
The desks were mercilessly overturned, the murals on the walls and Lockhart's photos were torn to shreds, books were thrown everywhere, ink was spilled all over the floor, and some even smashed through the glass and flew out of the window.
The students hastily grabbed whatever they could find and started fighting the sprites, and the scene descended into chaos amidst their chirping and wailing.
“Hurry them together, they’re nothing but little goblins,” Lockhart shouted, but it did no good.
The blue elves were still running rampant in the classroom. Neville was unlucky; he was hung from a chandelier by two elves, and Hermione was also grabbed by the hair by an elf.
Harry quickly grabbed a book and swatted the elf away, saving her.
At that moment, the open door pointed each student in the right direction. As if they had grasped a ray of light in the darkness, the students rushed out of the classroom.
Two minutes later, only Lockhart, Harry and his two friends hiding under the podium, Neville hanging from the chandelier, and Aaron holding Abbey, standing by the window enjoying the amusing scene, remained in the classroom.
Lockhart nervously drew his wand, his right hand making a rather awkward gesture, "All annoying pests vanish."
Then, nothing happened; the curse had no effect whatsoever.
A little elf swiftly snatched the wand from his hand and flew to the center of the ceiling, where a model of a dinosaur skeleton was hanging from several chains.
With a gentle tap of the wand, a spark flashed and disappeared, the chains snapped instantly, and the enormous model plummeted toward the ground.
"Wingardim Leviosa!"
Aaron cast a levitation spell in time to prevent it from falling. "The other things are easy to clean up, but this is a big item, so it's better not to damage it."
Several little elves noticed Aaron and quickly flew towards him.
However, as soon as they flew up to Aaron, Abe roared and swatted them all away with a single claw.
"Tone it down a bit," Aaron said helplessly. "In front of outsiders, you're just a cute pet, not a battle pet."
Lockhart, who had somehow appeared at the door, forced a smile and said at the fastest pace he had ever spoken, "I'm assigning you few to catch the rest of the sprites and put them back in their cages."
After Lockhart finished speaking, he fled the classroom, closing the door behind him.
"Tsk tsk tsk! I've never seen such an irresponsible teacher in my life." Aaron said with a sneer. "Assessment complete, he's a piece of trash."
“Maybe he just wants to give us some opportunities to practice,” Hermione retorted weakly.
“Practice?” Harry shooed away a house-elf that flew in front of him. “What kind of practice is this? The teachers have all run away, and there are only a few of us left in the classroom.”
“That’s right,” Aaron said, deeply agreeing. “Hermione, it’s time you faced reality!”
Look at this classroom. Facts speak louder than words; Lockhart doesn't have any real talent.
My question hit the nail on the head; he's not qualified to be our teacher.
"But you've also read his books and know what he did."
Aaron couldn't help but laugh, and even coughed for a few seconds before he could catch his breath.
"If a person's ability can truly be judged by their books, then I think I need to contact a group of professional writers and have them publish a more perfect autobiography within six months," Aaron said seriously, stroking his chin. "I've even thought of a title: The Rise of the God of Magic. What do you guys think?"
Upon hearing this, the three looked at each other in bewilderment.
Harry and Ron both thought the idea was very creative, but Hermione seemed to have figured something out, her face flushed slightly, and she lowered her head somewhat awkwardly.
“Um, could you put me down first?” Neville pointed to his wizard robes, which were hanging from the chandelier and were slumped over. “I experienced this feeling once last year, and I don’t want to experience it a second time.”
“Indeed.” Aaron was also somewhat incredulous. “It seems like you’re always the one who gets unlucky.”
"Neville, has your Longbottom family been cursed with some terrible curse?"
"This... I don't think so!" Neville said thoughtfully, but his tone was somewhat uncertain.
As soon as he finished speaking, a Cornish elf flew onto his shoulder and grabbed his arm, shaking it repeatedly.
boom!
Aaron immediately cast a sleeping spell, and the little elf closed its eyes and perched on Neville's shoulder.
"I think you shouldn't be so sure."
"I understand, I'll ask my grandma when I get back," Neville said, on the verge of tears. "Put me down now."
Aaron shrugged and flicked his wand slightly.
Neville floated upwards, and his wizard's robes detached from the chandelier before slowly falling to the ground.
“Thank you, you’ve helped me again.” Neville sincerely thanked Aaron.
"You're welcome."
"What do we do?" Harry asked dejectedly. "Lockhart entrusted these house-elves to us before he left. Catching them one by one will be a waste of time."
