Aaron looked at the package with some emotion. It was the first month's income after his small shop opened, and it had great sentimental value. He had kept it and couldn't bear to spend it.
But a getaway can't be done without funds. He had a lot of personal assets, but taking too much at once would inevitably arouse Genes' suspicion.
This butler has lived for decades without wasting his time; when he gets clever, even a monkey can't compare.
Just in case, he had no choice but to use the money.
The bag contained about five hundred Galleons and five hundred pounds. Even if Genes went to Malfoy Manor and the Burrow and couldn't find a place to stay for a while, this money would definitely cover all his expenses for the next three days, both in the wizarding world and the Muggle world.
After everything was ready, Aaron carried Abe back to the bedroom.
Abe looked at the snacks piled on the bed and struggled to choose among four options: those he liked, those that could satisfy his cravings, those that could replenish his energy, and those that his owner liked.
After hesitating for a while, Abe tearfully ruled out the food his owner liked and instead kept stuffing his own favorite food into his pocket.
Seeing this, Aaron was heartbroken and so angry that his teeth itched, and his hands clenched involuntarily.
What a disaster! This is like raising a white-eyed dragon!
......
The next day, Aaron got up early, dressed and washed up, and took Abe to a restaurant for breakfast.
The man and the dragon exchanged a glance, looking like starving ghosts reincarnated.
This breakfast was probably the most lavish meal they had in three days, and running around was very tiring, so not eating until they were completely full would be a disservice to themselves.
"Slow down, slow down, there's more if it's not enough." Genes forced a smile. "Young Master, I can understand Abe's behavior, but why are you like this?"
"Cough cough!" Aaron choked for a moment. "Can't I just have a whim?"
“Yes, of course.
You're the young master, you can eat as much as you want.
However, it's still important to eat in moderation; you don't want to get an upset stomach.
"No need for you to remind me." Aaron waved his hand, and before Abe could react, he quickly grabbed the last chicken leg from the plate. "Also, pack me a serving of dried fruit."
"Yes, Master, I'll go right away."
The house-elf immediately spoke and quickly walked towards the kitchen.
Genes paused, sensing something was amiss. "Young Master, what are you preparing dried fruit for?"
"This is for my great-uncle."
"Isn't school about to start? I'm planning to visit him; isn't it only right to bring a small gift?"
"I see." Genes breathed a sigh of relief.
"Otherwise what? What can I do?"
I'd like to personally go and prepare lunch for my uncle as a way of showing my filial piety. After all, I've been learning from Salks for so long, and my cooking skills are now above average.
"But the problem is, I still have to go to class, right? I don't have time." Aaron said, giving Genes a sharp glare.
Genes was initially a little confused, but seeing that look in his eyes, he couldn't help but feel guilty, and some of his words were swallowed back.
After all, he had made a solemn promise that after completing one course, he would have more free time for another course, but then he did not hesitate to use that free time for even more difficult subjects.
Although he did this for the young master's sake, it was indeed unfair of him to do it.
"What you say is true, young master."
Is there anything else we need to prepare?
"No need, he doesn't need anything, the gesture is enough."
Genes thought so too, and didn't say anything more.
After breakfast, Aaron lay down in the chair, while Abe lay in Aaron's arms, lazily digesting the food in her stomach.
It wasn't until the house-elf brought over a box of exquisite dried fruit that the human and the dragon stretched, decisively picked up the gift box, and walked to the fireplace.
After a flash of green flame, Aaron arrived at his shop, with Genes close behind.
"I'll leave this place to you. I'm going to my great-uncle's shop now."
“Yes, young master, no problem, young master,” Genes said. “By the way, young master, please try not to stay too long.”
Although you may not want to hear this, you do have to attend classes for three more days, so…”
"No need to say anything, I know what I'm doing."
After Aaron finished speaking, he left Gaius's Drinks Shop with Abe and walked along the street until they arrived at Ollivander's Wand Shop.
With the start of the school year approaching, Ollivanders Wand Shop is doing much better business than usual, with one or two parents frequently bringing their soon-to-be-started children to choose wands.
Aaron didn't think much of it and gave Abe a look, trying his best to act normal. After all, there were two well-hidden figures following him in the shadows, and it wouldn't be good if they noticed his weakness.
As the door opened, Ollivander, who was explaining a wand to a child, smiled and said, "Good morning, you even brought me a present."
That's really rare!
"Speak, what do you need from me?"
"Look at what you're saying." Aaron scratched his head sheepishly. "Am I that kind of person?"
Besides, Uncle, I don't think I've ever asked you for anything before!
“Who knows if this will be the first time,” Ollivander said half-jokingly, then looked at the little boy in wizarding clothes in front of the counter. “This is your senior, and also a student of Hogwarts.”
The little boy was very excited and quickly walked up to Aaron. "Senior, my name is Colin. I'm a freshman this year. It's nice to meet you."
Aaron responded with a kind smile, "I hope you make real friends at Hogwarts."
"Um!
"By the way, senior, do you know Harry Potter?"
"I know him. He's a Gryffindor student, so we're friends!"
Colin got even more excited. "It's a bit difficult, but could you please get me one of his autographed photos? Just one would be fine."
Aaron raised an eyebrow, barely suppressing a smile.
I didn't expect Harry to have fans, and they seem to be die-hard fans.
He felt that Harry Potter might not agree, partly because he had only recently come to know the world of magic and was still somewhat insecure in some ways, and partly because he simply couldn't do it, since his uncle's family wouldn't waste a single penny of his money.
"You'll have to work on that yourself." Aaron patted Colin on the shoulder and placed the dried fruit on the table. "I'm going upstairs for a bit. Uncle, you should entertain the guests first!"
Chapter 119 My First Time Running Away from Home
Ollivanders Wand Shop, second floor.
After Aaron went upstairs, he decisively closed the door and then gave Abe a look.
Abe understood immediately and took out a piece of clothing and a backpack from his pocket.
Aaron glanced downstairs and saw that the two shadows in the corner were still there. He breathed a sigh of relief and quickly changed into the more common clothes to make sure that his presence in the crowd was not so strong.
Then, Aaron stuffed Abe into his backpack and took out the invisibility potion, which was only half full.
But before he drank it, something suddenly occurred to him. He picked up the quill pen on the table and wrote two sentences on a piece of yellow paper:
Overwhelmed by the numerous courses, I need to go out and relax.
I asked my great-uncle to tell Genes to prepare everything I need for the start of school and to wait for me at Platform 9¾ on September 1st.
"Now everything should be foolproof," Aaron murmured, then quickly slung his backpack over his shoulder, took a small sip of invisibility potion, and his body instantly became transparent.
Because he hadn't drunk much, he could only remain invisible for about ten minutes. He needed to slip out of the two bodyguards' sight without making a sound within this very short time.
Just then, Colin also chose his wand, and Aaron followed him while he was away, so no strange incident of the door suddenly opening occurred.
Although such an incident is nothing unusual in the magical world, it's better to avoid trouble.
The invisibility wore off not long after he left, but luckily Aaron didn't sense the two figures following him in the shadows, so he was relieved for the time being.
Having shaken off the two bodyguards, the first step of the escape plan was barely completed. The second step was to leave Diagon Alley.
Now he has two paths before him, one of which is Flip-Over Alley.
Flip-Flop Alley is a mixed bag, an extreme case compared to Diagon Alley, but it provides considerable cover for escape.
However, it's not so friendly to one's own safety; in that place, you could easily kill a dark wizard by throwing a brick at him.
Aaron hesitated for a moment, but for safety's sake, he chose the second option: the Leaky Cauldron.
Entering this small bar that connects Diagon Alley and Muggle Street through a narrow alley, Aaron, dressed as a refined young man, attracts the attention of some of the customers.
"Are you Aaron? Aaron Gaius?" the bartender asked, somewhat surprised. "Why didn't Mr. Genes come with you?"
"Um...it's a secret, Mr. Tom."
"Oh!" Tom didn't ask any further questions, but pointed to some liquor on the counter. "Would you like a drink? I just got a batch of butterbeer, which is suitable for minors."
"No, give me a glass of brandy instead," Aaron said. This was the first time in his life that he had actually defied the rules above him, and he had to have a high-end, classy drink.
"Are you sure? You can drink this kind of alcohol?"
"I'm absolutely sure, but it's okay to put the bill on Genes, right?"
"I estimate he'll be here in a little over an hour," Aaron said somewhat embarrassedly, as this was the first time he'd ever bought something on credit.
But you can't blame him. The expenses for three days of running away are nearly two thousand pounds, which seems like a lot, but who knows when you'll need to spend money, so every little bit helps.
Tom's expression changed, and Aaron, thinking he was going to refuse, regretfully grabbed a few Galleons from his pocket. "If it doesn't work out, then forget it."
"No problem at all."
“Tom.” An elderly wizard in a brown robe looked at him with a mournful expression. “You’ve never given us regular customers credit before. Do you offer discounts for children?”
“Others may not be able to, but he can.” Tom poured Aaron a small glass of brandy and said in a flattering tone, “The good wines here are all sourced from your family’s winery.”
"Hey boss, could you give me a discount next time?"
Aaron was stunned; he hadn't expected his family's winery business to extend to this area.
“No problem, I’ve got it decided, 1% off.” Aaron said this not-so-generous discount in a very generous manner, then picked up the brandy and drank it all in one gulp.
Tom and the other patrons in the bar watched him with interest, eager to see how the young wizard would fare, but to their surprise, Aaron walked out of the bar as if nothing had happened.
"He has a really high alcohol tolerance," one guest exclaimed. "When I was his age, I had never even drunk butterbeer."
