Bai Yun nodded in agreement, and Nami swallowed, feeling a bit threatened.

"It's amazing."

"This is the first time I've ever met people like you."

The box-man replied.

"This is the first time I've ever seen someone living in a box. Are you from a wealthy family?"

Luffy's thought process: What are boxes for? To store treasure, right? So if he lives in a box, he's a rich kid, is there a problem with that? No problem.

"Yeah, I've been pampered since I was little... No! What nonsense are you talking about, kid!"

The box-shaped man was almost led astray by Luffy. Rich my foot! Have you ever seen such a weathered rich kid?

Chapter 47 The Grand Route

"My name is Gaimon."

"Do you know the hardships I endured, being trapped in a box and living alone on this deserted island for 20 years?!"

Last time, we talked about how Luffy and his crew encountered a strange man stuck in a box on a deserted island. After his self-introduction, it turned out that his name was Gaimon.

Bai Yun said that he really couldn't remember. He knew the person, but he had no recollection of the name.

........

"What?! He survived alone on a deserted island for 20 years?!"

Nami was shocked.

Luffy is, after all, Luffy.

"Like a fool."

Bai Yun nodded in agreement. Although he was really pitiful, he did seem like a fool.

"Bastards! I'm going to kill you all!!!"

Gaimon opened his mouth and shouted, "Two heartless bastards!"

"Sigh, in more than 20 years, my hair and beard have become so thick, and even my eyebrows have grown together."

Gaimon sighed. It would be a lie to say he wasn't lonely after more than 20 years. He finally met Luffy and his crew, and some things just came out of his mouth automatically.

Luffy then flashed to Gaimon's side, stepping on the edge of the box and grabbing Gaimon's head with both hands, trying to pull him out of the box.

It was done with good intentions, but Gaimon was in so much pain that he almost cried.

"It hurts! It hurts! It hurts!!"

"Stop! Stop it!!"

"Gaimon shouted."

Unable to pull it out, Luffy gave up.

"This is way too hard."

Gaimon breathed a sigh of relief. "Sigh! In 20 years, my bones have become fused with the box. If the box is gone, I'll be gone too."

"By the way, how did you get to this island?"

Nami asked.

You're saying you're pirates?

Gaimon's answer is not sure if it counts as an answer.

"Yes, there's another partner watching the boat."

Bai Yun nodded in reply.

"Pirates."

"I used to be a pirate too. I really miss those days, searching for treasure on the high seas without a care in the world. It was so much fun."

Do you have a treasure map?

Gaimon assumed Luffy had set sail for treasure, so he asked him if he had a treasure map.

"I have the charts of the Grand Line."

"I want to get 'ONE PIECE'."

Luffy frankly stated his goal.

Gaimon, like everyone else who heard it, expressed shock.

Luffy showed the sea chart to Gaimon.

Which one is the "Grand Line"?

"Huh, uncle, you don't know?"

"Because I can't read nautical charts at all, hahaha."

"Haha, is that so!"

Nami and Bai Yun shook their heads. Was this something two pirates should say?

Nami stepped forward, took the sea chart, and explained the layout of the pirate world to the two of them.

There are two ocean worlds in this world.

"The continent that divides the ocean in two is called the Red Earth Continent."

"The route that starts from its town and travels vertically around the world in a circle towards the Red Line is called the 'Grand Line'."

"That's right."

After Nami finished explaining, Luffy sighed, and Bai Yun had the right to suspect that Luffy hadn't understood at all.

Gaimon is a senior pirate, though not a senior worth learning from.

He said that he had seen people who returned from the Grand Line before, and they all looked lost and dejected, as if they had lost their souls.

Tell Luffy and his crew not to underestimate the Grand Line, after all, it's known as the graveyard of pirates.

But Luffy remained optimistic, believing that problems arise to be solved, and there would always be a way to resolve them.

........

"So, coming to the point, what does this have to do with you staying on the island, Uncle?"

Bai Yun steered the conversation back on track.

"It has something to do with it."

"Twenty years ago, I was also a pirate, and I came to this island with my crew."

"After searching for three days without finding any treasure, as I was leaving, I discovered a small hill that we hadn't been to before, so I told my companions to get on the boat and wait for me."

"I climbed up with great effort, and sure enough, there were 5 treasure chests at the top."

"But fate made me slip and fall from above, getting stuck in the box below. When I woke up, my companions were already gone."

Gaimon recounted his story, whether it was unlucky or lucky, it's hard to say.

He fell down a hillside but didn't die, but got stuck in a box for 20 years.

........

Nami, quick to notice the money, immediately suggested helping Gaim retrieve the treasure chest.

Once they reached the bottom of the hill, Bai Yun and Luffy used their Gum-Gum Fruit powers to extend their arms and instantly climb up.

Bai Yun had already remembered what this was about.

Looking at the five treasure chests, he didn't move and remained standing on the edge of the cliff.

Luffy excitedly opened the boxes one by one, but his excitement wore off with each opening. Yet, he still smiled as he walked to the edge of the cliff.

"There are treasure chests, and five of them, hahaha."

Luffy shouted with a laugh.

Gaimon and Nami excitedly urged him to throw the box down, but Luffy unusually refused.

"I do not!"

"What?! What do you mean?! Luffy! Bai Yun, you need to control him!"

Nami shouted, "The treasure is right in front of us, there's no reason not to take it!"

But Gaimon shed tears.

"Knew it."

"You two are good people."

"I had guessed it, but I just didn't want to admit it."

"Those five boxes, they're empty, aren't they?!"

When Gaimon uttered those last words, tears streamed down his face.

Chapter 48 Buying the Whole World

The treasure chest I had been looking forward to for 20 days turned out to be empty.

This sense of disparity is enough to kill a person.

However, with the passage of time, Gaimon guessed that the treasure chest might be empty, but he was unwilling to believe it.

But as soon as he cried, the animals seemed to magically emerge from the forest, gathering around him and calling out, as if to tell Gaimon that his 20 years had not been in vain, nor a joke, but rather that he was their "god."

Gaimon stared blankly at the animals.

He initially came to protect the forest and the island's rare animals with the idea that if he couldn't get the treasure chest, others would also be hoping to get it.

Twenty years have passed in the blink of an eye. Looking at these animals, Gaimon seems to have found a solution. The real treasure is not necessarily the five "Schrödinger's chests," but rather his experience and the rare animals that survived under his protection and regarded him as a "god."

........

“Compared to these treasure chests, I think these rare animals are more like treasure, your treasure, Uncle Gaimon.”

Bai Yun stood on the edge of the hillside, arms crossed, looking down at Gaimeng, who was surrounded by "ten thousand" beasts, and offered some words of advice.
