"Then, we acknowledge the validity of your existence. You will uphold the aspirations of us creators and continue to pursue that star hanging in the sky."
With the final declaration from the intelligent hub, its light dimmed, as if it were exerting all its strength, as it handed a chip covered with countless patterns to the young man.
"The Einzbern family's century-long ambition has come to an end. The magical barrier will be lifted in twenty-four hours, at which time everything in Winter City will self-destruct. If you have any needs, please take them as you wish."
Having said that, the central hub, which remained in this secret workshop, fell into eternal silence, waiting for tomorrow, when the story of the Einzbern family would be abandoned by dreams, just like humans after they have awakened.
"Farewell, Yubustakuhaid." Shuoyue put away the chip and turned to leave without looking back.
Aside from the location indicated by the mysterious treasure map, this chip will be the biggest gain for Shuoyue—it is the highest-level access key of the Einzbern family, storing all of the family's magical knowledge. It is also the key to unlock the vault. Over the past century, the true value of the magical materials stored by the Einzbern family can only be known by seeing it with one's own eyes.
Of course, the Einzbern family's treasures were not limited to these inanimate objects; the artificial beings made of precious materials and technology also had invaluable worth.
For example, being bought by a magician at a high price to become a servant, prop, or test subject... Shuoyue's golden pupils darkened for a moment.
He never underestimated the cold-bloodedness of magicians, but the mystique surrounding these androids also prevented them from entering society.
So—can he adopt these androids?
"Or rather, would I be willing to adopt them?" Shuoyue shook her head as if mocking herself.
In the past, he might have taken in a few android servants to take care of his daily life.
But after obtaining the second component from the mysterious treasure map in Einzbern Castle, he abandoned the idea.
To the new moon, artificial humans are worthless.
"Come, Shadow of Imaginary Numbers."
A horned beast rose from the ground, growing larger as Shuoyue walked down the corridor. The beast's head laughed silently, eventually swallowing even the flickering candlelight on the wall.
Trying to conceal the indifference in his eyes, Shuoyue, gradually reverting to his boyish self, said softly:
"All the organic life forms in Winter City are yours. Devour them all and reduce them to their most basic form."
Hours later, the white-haired, golden-eyed boy slowly walked out of Einzbern, his footsteps echoing for a long time in the empty castle.
"So, the next stop is... here, London, England, the Clock Tower."
The next chapter isn't finished yet, so you don't have to wait. You can read it tomorrow morning.
Chapter 203 The Clock Tower in 1994
Under the dazzling afternoon sun, dressed in black with a white undershirt, trying his best to play the role of a mature and handsome young man, he walked through the ancient streets with a smile.
The climate in the UK is drier than in Japan. Because of the low humidity, even strong sunlight won't make people feel uncomfortable, and it's not easy to sweat.
The streets were paved with bricks and stones, bustling with people, and filled with the aroma of greasy grilled fish and potato chips. The distinctive double-decker buses occasionally belched out puffs of exhaust fumes. Gentlemen in suits and ladies with scarves strolled by, while children noisily boarded the buses…
The 12th-century buildings here are still well-preserved, creating a scene where medieval and modern elements are intertwined.
"Hmph~Hmph~Hmph~Hmph hmph hmph~~" Ignoring the envious gazes of those around him, the boy sang a European melody that did not exist in this world as he walked on the red brick overpass, then entered Druid Street, and turned into a side street.
As if he had accidentally wandered into Platform 9¾, the boy was suddenly surrounded by no pedestrians. He didn't mind, though, because he knew what kind of 'mystery' had caused this.
Continuing on, more than forty student dormitories, over a hundred academic buildings, and shops that bring convenience to the residents together form a neighborhood—a place that magicians respectfully refer to as the 'Clock Tower', along with the first academic building standing in the center.
As is widely known, the mystical world of Type-Moon is dominated by two major forces: the Church of Christ, a large armed organization created as a secret Christian organization with the aim of managing mysticism and hunting heretics; and the Mage's Association, a self-defense group formed by people who study magic, regardless of nationality or school of thought.
The Magicians' Association consists of three main departments: the Clock Tower in London, the Wandering Sea (the Moving Coffin) in the North Atlantic, and the Atlas Institute (the Giant's Cellar) in Egypt. The Clock Tower, as the headquarters, is the youngest, but its founding predates the name "London." Today, the Clock Tower is the highest institution of learning in the world of magic, attracting a vast number of magicians.
"Then let me spread my wings and stir up a storm." Shuoyue took out a well-preserved contract from her pocket, unfolded it, and the red characters on it shone with a blood-like light in the sunlight.
That was a contract of servitude signed by the incompetent yet brilliant Sir Kenneth El-Melloi Archibald, who mortgaged his soul to the devil in order to survive. However, due to the devils' dispute over the division of spoils, the contract was valid, but the man did not survive.
"Even so, Mr. Demon still came to collect the debt." Putting away the contract, Shuoyue stepped up the stairs of the clock tower.
"Are you ready, Archibald family?"
A storm quietly swept through the already chaotic interior of the clock tower.
The incident began when a mysterious young man presented the Archibald family, one of the twelve lords, with a 'self-mandated essay' signed by their patriarch.
[Oath: The Magician Sakumoku is permanently forbidden from any intention or action to kill or harm Kenneth El-Melloi Archibald and Solau Nazele Sophiari, and will prevent any malicious acts against them by any participant in the Holy Grail War.]
[Conditions: The new moon grants secondary control over the Archibald family, and Kenneth and his Servants win two battles.]
The signed contract was undoubtedly a success; Kenneth's signature possessed a unique magical quality that no one could replicate.
However—this does not mean that the Archibald family will heed the words of the new moon, because news of Kenneth's death had recently reached the Clock Tower, and the elders and branch family heads, each with their own ulterior motives, would naturally not agree to be subordinate to a mere brat. Even if he proved the contract was correct and even retrieved the source imprint of Kenneth, which had been damaged to the point of being only one-tenth intact, he would only become a clown, manipulated by a group of old foxes.
Yes... that's how it should be.
"Swish!" The longsword sliced through the magician's flesh without any resistance. The screams of agony were short-lived, as the next sword took his life. The splattered blood clung to the murderer as if seeking revenge, but he ruthlessly brushed it away.
Although the incantation was only one verse, it condensed into thousands of blades. The weapon, gleaming with iron light, transformed into the most loyal hunting dogs, following its master's commands and hunting down each designated prey.
And so, under the overwhelming barrage of swords, the chanted magic spells shattered, the treasured magical costumes were destroyed, and the proud and arrogant magicians met their end in regret.
"Boom!" It seemed that a magician had activated a vengeful spell after death. A storm of flames rose into the air, burning everything around it to ashes. But no matter how many weapons the firestorm destroyed, more deadly weapons rose into the air, tearing at the routed magicians.
The flickering firelight reflected the boy's serene face. The figure standing on the ruins was incredibly tall, his white hair fluttering, and his golden eyes held a raging fire that burned the world.
"I'm sorry, I'm short on time. This adult game of pretend play is coming to an end here."
With lightning speed, he wiped out the most vocal branch family member, and the young man, who nominally inherited the title of lord 'El-Melloi' and became the acting head of the Archibald family, announced this to the horrified survivors:
"Submit or perish—you have only two choices."
In the face of absolute power, everything else is meaningless.
That night, the members of the Archibald family came to a profound understanding of this principle, especially after their requests for assistance from other lords were rejected. The stubborn magicians finally realized that no one but themselves could save them.
They must unite.
That being said, even though the mysterious boy disappeared after making his announcement, spending his days wandering between the library, classrooms, and laboratories like a new student at the Clock Tower, the magicians still spent several months consolidating their power. During this time, many arrogant magicians even abandoned their names and betrayed the precarious Archibald family.
After months of negotiations and conflicts, the remnants of the Archibald family were finally brought together quickly by a young girl. Under her guidance, the members of the Archibald family managed to find a third option from the two dangerous choices of 'surrender' and 'annihilation'—
So, a week later, on the morning of the same day, Waver Velvet, who had just received an urgent letter from his teacher's family and rushed back from the King of Conquerors' pilgrimage, was ambushed the moment he stepped into the Clock Tower. He was kidnapped by several burly men in formal attire and disappeared without a trace.
Little did they know that the Archibald family's clandestine counterattack was nothing more than an amusing death throes for a boy who spent his days absorbing knowledge of magic.
"Now that the last actor has come on stage, let's begin the second act."
The song that Sakuzuki hums in the text is the soundtrack from "Lord El-Melloi II Case Files: The Mystic Eyes Collection Train," composed by Yuki Kajiura.
Chapter 204 Reines and El-Melloi II
England, Archizorti family
"Who...who are you people? How can you arrest people like this?"
Amidst the clanking of chains, the man's body was hung upside down in the hallway of the reception room.
“I’m a secret fan of yours, Mr. Webber Velvet.”
Compared to Weber's much more mature voice, the girl speaking to him, though her tone was playful, still couldn't hide her childish voice.
"But who exactly are you?"
“My name is Reines El-Melloi Archizolti. I am a participant in the Fourth Holy Grail War and also the adopted sister of your mentor, Kenneth El-Melloi Archizolti. Do you understand now?”
"Ugh!" Weber's pupils contracted sharply.
As his vision gradually stabilized, he finally saw the girl sitting on the extra-long bar stool, looking like a porcelain doll.
What catches the eye is a head of beautiful short blonde hair and skin as white as a porcelain doll. But what is most impressive are her eyes, which are beyond her years and contain an extremely strong will—those eyes reveal her true nature more clearly than the playful smile on a girl's lips.
But why would the princess of the Archizorti family seek out a mere student like him?
Could it be the Fourth Holy Grail War...?
“By blood, I am actually his niece.” Seeing that Webber was intimidated by her, Reines nodded in satisfaction and continued, “Of course, I have no interest in revenge or anything like that, but there are some things that I have always found incredible and I wanted to ask you about them.”
With a soft laugh, Reines casually raised her index finger, and the two bodyguards in suits behind her obediently reached out and, as if manipulating a pendulum clock, pushed Webber back and forth.
"You participated in the magical ritual held in Fuyuki, the battle for the omnipotent wish-granting machine: the Holy Grail War, right?"
The violent shaking made Weber feel dizzy, making it incredibly difficult for him to even think, let alone lie.
"Yes, that's exactly right."
"My sworn brother was defeated in battle and brutally murdered."
"That's right. I was defeated afterward, but luckily I survived and was able to return here."
"Leaving aside your luck, it's been half a year since the Holy Grail War ended, and so far you've sent three letters to the Archibald family. Besides 'hoping to continue the research in place of Professor Kenneth,' 'hoping to become the El-Melloi family's magus,' in the last envelope you even mentioned 'I will buy Professor Kenneth's El-Melloi classroom'..."
Are you trying to say I'm a robber who stole Mr. Kenneth's inheritance?
"Hmph, how could that be?" Reines clapped her hands with a childlike laugh. "You were the only magician who was willing to continue following my sworn brother when the Archibald family was in danger, you know?"
The next moment, Reines' smile vanished. She rested her chin on her hands, leaned down, and looked at Waver: "The reason I didn't reply to your letter is because the Archibald family's decline doesn't need another sacrifice. My adoptive brother staked a considerable amount on participating in the Holy Grail War—but with his death, all efforts have turned into a negative. No one will care about this family and school that represents shame anymore."
"Then why have you found me again?"
Reines's faint smile vanished for a moment, but quickly returned to normal: "Now I'm asking you, aren't I? Why would you want to do such a thing? Why would you continue to offer your loyalty to a declining family?"
Sensing Waver's wavering, Reines's eyes narrowed slightly, her pupils almost glowing red in the candlelight: "I have the right to know about this, don't I?"
Before Weber could answer, the girl casually changed the subject: "You know what? Once a person is hung upside down, they can't last long (Aleister: ?). Although there are various opinions on the exact time, it's generally about three hours. After that, the person can't withstand the burden of blood flowing up and down, and the heart stops beating... Ugh!"
In Weber's inverted vision, the familiar rhomboid space opened up, and a young man in a black and gold trench coat appeared behind Reines, grabbed her ankle, and lifted her upside down.
Under Newton's gaze, Reines's skirt began to slip down, and before it could reveal her "absolute territory," the girl quickly reached out and pressed it back down. Because of their similar posture, Weber could easily see the panic on the girl's face. The once dignified young mistress was gone, replaced by a soft, helpless look, like a cat whose scruff of the neck had been grabbed.
"Who is it! No, you are..."
“It is I who automatically became the acting head of the Archibald family after Kenneth’s death, and I am also the one you are going to attack.”
As the boy spoke, he glared at Weber, forcing him to swallow the word "new moon" that was about to slip out.
"Ugh!" Reines instinctively tried to resist, but was casually flung aside by Shuoyue. Her crimson demonic eyes immediately lost their target, and her skirt was about to slip down again. She was so frightened that she quickly grabbed it. "What are you two doing? Come and help me!"
Clearly, Reines wanted the help of Webber's two bodyguards, but the two burly men in suits stood still, seemingly oblivious to their master's command.
"Don't be silly, little one." The boy told Reines a devastating truth in a calm tone, "Who do you think exposed your operation?"
"You! You've been planting spies around me from the very beginning!" Reines was furious, a deep sense of frustration rising within her.
A mysterious young man with the title of acting head of the family and immense strength, versus a girl not yet ten years old who is undergoing a magical crest transplant—it's obvious who to choose. If it weren't for their resistance to the idea that Sakugetsu is an outsider, probably few members of the Archibald family would accept a little girl as their leader.
Ultimately, how many of the magicians who have now joined Reines's ranks are actually spies sent by this young man?
