Chapter 33 The Approaching Peril (Please continue reading)
In Lu Ming's mind, Chu Renmei was not the strongest ghost in horror movies, but she was definitely not someone that just anyone could mess with.

From the perspective of a mysterious resurgence, Chu Renmei's ability to disappear and reappear at will, and even to teleport instantly, is a kind of supernatural phenomenon similar to a ghost realm.

Moreover, this vengeful ghost can change its appearance and mimic corresponding sounds.

Imagine if Chu Renmei became your bedmate, and you were sleeping in the same bed with her, holding her cold hand without noticing anything amiss, until your eyes met and you discovered that beneath her long hair was a strange, pale, ghostly face... Just thinking about it is thrilling.

Not only that, Chu Renmei can also perform mind manipulation, causing hallucinations and even directly controlling people to commit suicide.

Each of these challenges is absolutely unsolvable for ordinary people or even low-level challengers.

In the original film of The Haunted Village, Big B, Biggie, Annie, Glasses, Xiao Qiang, and even Xiao Ming who has the ability to see ghosts, all eventually died at the hands of Chu Renmei.

Xiao Ming's teacher, Fa Mao, survived not because he mastered a way to fight Chu Renmei, but because he successfully begged for mercy, which saved his life.

"I could get pretty good results with any one of these abilities... and if I survive the longest and perform the best in the dungeon, I'll definitely get the most points at the end."

Lu Ming shook his head, pulled himself out of his thoughts, and waited with a spectator's mentality for his teammates' next decision.

···········
Ignoring Big B and Little Ming's bickering, Wu Lei turned to Lu Ming and the other three and said, "No matter what, it's definitely not safe to stay in this village. We must leave as soon as possible."

Even Huang Mao Zheng Yaozu, who disapproves of everything, had no objection to Wu Lei's suggestion.

Wu Lei's analysis makes a lot of sense.

In short, we had to leave this eerie Huangshan Village.

Maybe we'll be safe once we leave.

After a brief discussion, the five challengers chose to leave Huangshan Village, while Xiaoming and the others stayed behind and called the police.

As for taking statements when someone dies... it's only for three days, why should we follow the rules of this world?

The five people boarded an old off-road pickup truck one after another. The truck was covered in mud and looked like it hadn't been washed in a long time.

Wu Lei was in charge of driving, the quiet girl Xia Lili sat in the front passenger seat, while the blond-haired Zheng Yaozu, Lu Ming, and Chen Xin squeezed into the back seat.

As Chen Xin got into the car, she accidentally bumped into Lu Ming and flinched back in surprise.

"Lu Ming, why is your body so cold?"

Chen Xin didn't finish her sentence. What she really wanted to say was that Lu Ming's body was like a corpse that had been dead for a long time, cold and devoid of any sign of life.

But thankfully, he didn't say anything.

Otherwise it would seem like you're stirring up trouble.

Lu Ming didn't say anything, but silently closed the car door.

His body was already rotten inside, and it was only the supernatural that kept his appearance normal.

Chen Xin should be thankful that she didn't say anything she shouldn't have.

Rather, Lu Ming was in a relatively stable state after mastering the Ghost Smiling Face and Ghost Mourning Clothes.

Otherwise, Chen Xin would have been affected by the supernatural influence from that one touch.

Chen Xin didn't think much of Lu Ming's silence. In her eyes, Lu Ming was just a newbie going into a dungeon for the first time, and it was inevitable that he would be tense in such a dangerous situation.

Thinking back to her first time running a dungeon, she encountered extremely terrifying dangers and was even more nervous than Lu Ming, almost not making it out alive.

After their conversation, Lu Ming and Chen Xin had no objections, but Zheng Yaozu was getting anxious.

He sneered and said to Lu Ming, "A newcomer putting on airs here. Let's see if you can still pretend when you actually run into a ghost."

The surroundings were pitch black, creating an already extremely oppressive atmosphere. Zheng Yaozu's words made the atmosphere even colder.

The pickup truck's old-fashioned engine roared to life as it slowly started moving along the bumpy mountain road, heading away from Huangshan Village.

I don't know how long we drove, the winding mountain road seemed to have no end, and even with the headlights on, the visibility around us kept getting lower and lower.

Suddenly, the pickup truck stopped. Wu Lei, sitting in the driver's seat, slammed his fist on the steering wheel in frustration, yelling, "Damn it, out of gas!" "How could it be out of gas? Didn't we just check?"

"Who knows, maybe the fuel gauge is broken."

The headlights went out, and everything around us was swallowed by boundless darkness, with not a single ray of light visible.

In this environment, loneliness is the least of the problems; the pitch-black darkness represents the despairing unknown.

After getting out of the car and fiddling with it for a while, I realized that the car was really out of gas. Moreover, there was no village or shop in sight, and no cell phone signal, so it was impossible to leave on foot.

Suddenly, an extremely strange, inexplicable drowsiness swept over everyone.

As the only third-tier challenger, Wu Lei suggested, "Let's wait until dawn tomorrow before leaving. Let's rest in the car tonight."

Chen Xin asked, "What if a ghost comes?"

"We take turns on night shifts. I'll go first, and then I'll switch shifts when I can't hold on any longer."

Several challengers had experience dealing with ghosts, and under normal circumstances, they would be under great mental stress and unable to sleep.

However, under some unknown influence, they still agreed to Wu Lei's proposal.

The Buddhist mark on Wu Lei's forehead reappeared.

He used his ability, and under its protection, whether it was psychological or not, Chen Xin and the others felt much more at ease.

Only Lu Ming secretly shook his head.

Wu Lei's Buddhist seal does indeed have the effect of warding off evil spirits.

But this is probably just the lowest-level ability in the God's Shop.

It's somewhat effective against wandering ghosts, but it's hardly enough to deal with a vengeful spirit like Chu Renmei, who killed 66 people in three days.

···········
After a long time.

Nothing happened during that time. Wu Lei finally couldn't keep his eyes open any longer and woke up Huang Mao, asking him to take over his night watch.

The surrounding darkness remained as thick and viscous as ink, as if the dawn would never break.

After a brief noise, the car fell into a deathly silence once again.

The blond-haired man swayed his head from side to side, clearly no longer able to maintain consciousness.

Just then, he suddenly heard a seductive female voice that was both alluring and tingling.

"Yaozu, aren't you asleep yet?"

Chen Xin lazily got up, revealing her alluring figure, and didn't forget to wink at the blond-haired man.

Her expression and her movements made it clear to any man what she wanted to do.

Yellow Hair swallowed hard and instantly sobered up.

"Get out of the car and talk about it. Don't wake them up."

Reason told Huang Mao that doing this kind of thing in a horror movie scenario was extremely risky.

But the second brother didn't listen to him.

As if possessed by a demon, he opened the car door and followed Chen Xin, step by step, into the darkness.

What Huang Mao didn't know was that the real Chen Xin was still asleep.
