Chapter 7 New forces

A group of cynical young people were here cursing bigwigs in the film and television industry, and they got more and more excited as they cursed.

It's normal. Everyone has feelings of resentment towards the rich, especially when they've been treated unfairly. It's inevitable to have some negative emotions.

After all, they were all talented but unappreciated, and they didn't think they were any worse than those people.

“Brother, you’re right, it’s Zuo Shandiao who started it all.” The person next to him was very excited and patted him on the shoulder hard, showing great agreement.

Qin Xuan was caught off guard and almost fell to the ground with the slap, so it couldn't have been done gently.

"Brother, we're strangers. May I ask your honorable name?" A man opposite him clasped his hands in greeting.

"I will not change my name or surname, my surname is Qin, and my given name is Xuan." Qin Xuan also clasped his hands in a proper manner and asked, "May I ask your honorable surname, brother?"

"Li Miao, props internship," Li Miao said.

"My apologies, my apologies." Qin Xuan was indeed very disrespectful.

This person later became the art director for films such as "Detective Chinatown" and "Sheep Without a Shepherd," and was also a special effects artist.

"Zhang Linke, an intern in the photography group." Zhang Linke clasped his hands in a fist and introduced himself, mainly because he was a little tipsy, like a江湖人 (jianghu person, someone from the martial arts world).

"It's a pleasure to meet you," Qin Xuan replied.

These are all amazing people; they were the ones who worked on films like "My People, My Homeland" and "The Wandering Earth".

“I recognize you. You’re the guy next to the director, right?” The guy next to him pointed at him.

"I am indeed the unworthy one," Qin Xuan said modestly.

"No wonder he looked so familiar. I saw him standing next to the director when I was setting up the lighting array. I think he was even giving instructions." The guy said to the others.

Li Miao was somewhat impressed: "That brother, you're really something. My boss doesn't even glance at me and always curses me out, but you can get a word in with the director."

"I only contributed a little bit, it's nothing to mention," Qin Xuan waved his hand.

These people are all newcomers, so they are envious of those who have some influence in the upper echelons of the production team.

He clasped his hands in a fist and asked the man beside him, "After talking for so long, may I ask who you are?"

"Shen Ao, a directing intern." Shen Ao clasped his hands in a fist salute to him.

"Oh, my apologies!" Qin Xuan returned the greeting.

No wonder he looked familiar; he's still quite handsome now, but he'll lose his looks when he gets older.

As expected, talented people tend to intern on big productions. Even if they are dissatisfied with the pay, they will come to further their studies because of the reputation of the production company.

This further study revealed that, just as others had said, I was being treated differently, which made me feel unbalanced.

To put it simply, this is the situation across the entire industry now; there are basically no isolated cases. Otherwise, there wouldn't have been such a spontaneous boycott of the Hong Kong entertainment circle.

These people are only in their early twenties, and it's inevitable that their youthful passion can't withstand it. If you ask the post-00s generation, very few of them could endure it. It's not physical suffering, but mental torture.

They look down on you and despise you. Can you stand it?

Qin Xuan looked at everyone and said, "Since we are all dissatisfied with the status quo, why not form a new force and start afresh?"

"A new force? Starting from scratch?" Zhang Linke was stunned.

The others were also somewhat surprised.

“That’s right, we’re no worse than them, so why can’t we go it alone and work for someone else?” Qin Xuan said. Shen Aoyi asked, intrigued, “Then where should we start if we build a new force?”

This question left everyone else bewildered. Yes, where to begin? Filming requires funding, equipment, a script... and they had nothing.

“We can plan this slowly. Let’s get justice first. They treated us like cattle and horses. We can’t just let it go like this. We definitely have to get it back.” Qin Xuan brought it up again.

These few people are far from enough; we need to gather more people. To gather more people, we need to cause trouble, create an adversarial situation, and block everyone's escape route.

Then we'll have no choice but to follow him; that's how being forced into a corner works.

Honestly, Qin Xuan's two-faced nature is a bit cunning, but he has no choice; he needs people, he needs funds, he needs everything.

These all need to be extracted from these people.

"How can we get it back?" Shen Ao asked, puzzled.

The others also stared blankly at Qin Xuan.

"It's simple. Let's find more people and have them join us in demanding justice. There's strength in numbers."

“But many people won’t come with us; they’re all afraid of trouble.” Li Miao felt a bit uncertain.

Just now, only a few of them were unhappy and started making a fuss. Of course, this wasn't the first time; they'd caused trouble several times before, and some people had been fired.

Many people quit; they still wanted to keep their jobs.

"That's because you didn't use the right method. You can't target the production team. If you do, the producer will definitely deal with you. You need to have a target. Choose one person. Only by getting rid of this person will the others be afraid. Do you understand?"
"So, whoever you don't like, just target them," Qin Xuan suggested.

It's very simple: the law doesn't punish everyone. Since we can't solve the problem, we'll punish the people who caused it.

However, if you target the entire production team, the scope of the attack would be too broad. You can't possibly punish all the main creators, that's simply unrealistic. But targeting one person is a different story. To quell public anger, one or two main creators might still have a chance to compromise.

As long as we compromise, that's a victory, and everyone else will be afraid.

“That makes sense.” Zhang Linke nodded, somewhat agreeing.

"What if the producer holds us accountable and really punishes us? After all, we're just grassroots workers," Shen Ao said, his eyes revealing his worry.

"You're afraid of this and that. You shouldn't have made a fuss in the first place." Zhang Linke said unhappily, thinking he was a coward.

Shen Ao's expression turned somewhat awkward.

Zhang Linke is the only one with a short temper here; the others are all fine.

"Listen to me."

Qin Xuan reached out and smoothed things over, saying, "The purpose of our new force is to stand up for those brothers who have been bullied, and to give a platform to those who are talented but not recognized, who clearly have real skills but are not given important responsibilities."

Our goal is to create a fair and just environment and platform.

The group nodded solemnly, their sense of responsibility immediately aroused.

"If that's the case, why are we afraid of trouble? If we're afraid of even this, how can we have a future? If the film and television industry is always like this, are we just going to keep wasting our time like this?"

Qin Xuan kept a close eye on everyone's expressions, taking in their every detail.

Seeing that they were persuaded, he raised his voice: "Rights are earned through our own efforts, not given by others. What is given by others is the cheapest; it's only because others pity you. We don't need others' pity."

“That’s right. Rights are earned through our own efforts, not given to us by others. I’ve been bullied enough, and that damned assistant director has insulted me enough. I’m going to rebel.” Zhang Linke suddenly stood up and decided to take action.
