Chapter 12 New Image
Open your eyes.
No longer a simple tent roof, but a reassuring wooden ceiling.
I slept very well.
Looking at the sunlight outside the window, it's almost noon.
Zellier sat in bed in a daze for a while before slowly sitting up.
A relaxing, dreamless sleep greatly restored his physical condition.
His eyes flashed, the panel appeared, and the data changed slightly.
The analysis progress of "Embrace of the Mist" has reached 4%.
Can the progress be increased by 4% per day...? Then it will take more than 20 days to complete the analysis, which is really tedious.
It seems that the Art of Evolution still needs time to develop. If you choose Spell Surge, you can immediately improve your combat power.
Looking down, the mysterious Great Creation Technique was still at 0%.
Zellier collapsed back onto the bed and began to think about what he should do today.
If I go to the Adventurers' Guild to accept a quest... I don't think I need to rush. I still have enough money to live on for a while.
Moreover, the original owner's first adventure was far too reckless; he only carried a dagger as a weapon and had virtually no protective gear.
Thankfully, the mission target was only wolves, and Marcus Grey was holding off the Mist Demon; otherwise, something serious would have likely happened.
We must first make ample preparations for the next adventure.
There's also the issue of mage rating that needs to be resolved.
Zellir was eager to explore the magic system of this world.
In the original owner's memory, there was a magicians' guild in Blackrock Town, but due to his timidity and inferiority complex, he never contacted it.
Since I've chosen the path of a mage, I'll definitely have to deal with this organization in the future.
You might even witness some mages unleashing advanced magic, allowing the magic formulas to take effect.
"Well... I'll go to the Mage's Guild today and maybe even rank myself up." Zellier muttered as he got out of bed.
After a quick wash, Zellier enjoyed a meal of bacon and roasted potatoes before leaving the hotel.
However, his first stop was not the Mage's Guild, but the clothing store.
Zellir's current attire is rather cheap; while he's not exactly homeless, he's not much better off.
His coarse clothes, stained with wolf blood and mud, made him look wild and slovenly.
It's fine in the Adventurers' Guild, everyone dresses like that, but the Mage's Guild obviously can't accept this kind of attire.
Those old monks might just kick me out like a beggar.
Standing in front of the mirror, Zellir admired his new look.
He chose a gray long-sleeved belted coat, paired with black linen trousers and mid-calf soft leather boots.
Although it was a fairly common outfit, Zellir's high charm rating of 46 points clearly made an impact.
Years of farm work did not tan Zelier's face into a dark, rough complexion; his skin remained fair.
Zellir's low body fat percentage gives him a defined jawline and facial features. His black hair and eyes, combined with his soft features, give him an overall handsome look that leans towards that of a pretty boy.
The man in the mirror didn't look like an adventurer; he looked more like a young instructor at the academy.
"Not bad." Zellier straightened his collar and smiled gently.
He bought the outfit for five silver coins, and now he has three gold coins and fifty-three silver coins left in his savings.
Next, Zellier asked for directions, and after wandering around for a while, he finally arrived at his destination.
Compared to the Adventurers' Guild, the Mage's Guild is undoubtedly much more luxurious and grand.
It is not a single building, but a large area consisting of several buildings combined, which is surrounded by a wall, and the entrance is a large white stone archway.
Even the guards standing watch under the archway were noticeably better equipped and in better spirits than those at the Blackrock Town gate. Zeril took a deep breath and stepped forward.
"Please stop."
The guard raised his hand. "Show me your identification."
As usual, Zellir took out his adventurer's badge.
The guard took it and looked at it, his voice tinged with doubt, "Isn't there a badge issued by the Mage's Guild?"
“This is my first time at the Mage Guild. I’m here today to receive my mage rating,” Zellier said.
"Please wait."
The guard turned and searched the room next to the archway for a while before taking out a small crystal ball.
As instructed by the guard, Zellir placed his palm over the crystal ball.
He slightly activated his magic, and a burst of light emerged from the slightly murky interior of the crystal ball.
It seems to be a small tool for detecting magic power... Zellier thought to himself.
"Alright, you can go in now."
The guard stepped aside and pointed in a direction for Zellir, "The General Affairs Office, which is responsible for assessing mage levels, is over there."
"Thank you." Zellier nodded.
The Mage's Guild was rather deserted. Zeril looked around and only saw a few people passing by sporadically.
This is actually normal; compared to other professions, mages are already few in number.
If Blackrock Town didn't possess the two major resources of the Blackrock Mine and the Graywood Forest, the Mage Guild would never have set up a branch here; usually only city-level settlements have that privilege.
After crossing the lawn, Zellier arrived at the general affairs office in the main building, as indicated by the guard.
The interior is a spacious and bright hall, filled with a pleasant bookish aroma.
The person in charge of reception was an elderly-looking monk with a long, white beard, who was slumped behind the counter, seemingly dozing off.
"Hello."
Zellir gently woke him, "I want to get a mage rating."
The old monk didn't even lift his eyelids, but simply pointed to the bench next to him and said, "Wait over there for a while."
Zelil looked in the direction he was being directed to and found a girl already sitting there.
She looked to be about the same age as Zellir, wearing a well-tailored pale purple robe, with beautiful long golden curly hair cascading down her back, and an exquisite crimson wand hanging at her waist.
The girl seemed to sense the movement; she tilted her head slightly, and her gaze met Zelil's.
Her pupils are sapphire blue...that's quite beautiful.
This was Zellier's first impression.
Zellier nodded politely to the girl and then sat down in a seat a few empty spaces away from her.
Perhaps because the waiting time was a bit boring, the girl took the initiative to speak.
"Hey, are you here for the evaluation too?"
“Hmm.” Zellier nodded.
“My name is Beverly Alberti, and yours is Beverly?” Beverly introduced herself with grace and confidence.
"Zelil".
“Zelil…”
Bev pondered the name for a moment, her tone inquisitive, "No surname... so you're not the son of a noble family?"
"Yes, I am just an ordinary citizen."
Zellier chuckled softly, "Having taught myself magic, I thought I'd come and participate in the ranking."
