Chapter 16 Heavy Treasure
[My name is Chen Sheng. When you see this, I deeply regret it... On the day I arrived in Changshan County, I intended to visit my old home to reminisce, but the local powerful figures, with their own ulterior motives, hosted a banquet that made it difficult for me to leave. In the end, I returned to the military camp drunk, which caused me to miss a secret. If I had gone there that night, perhaps I could have learned some of the truth...]

This hint had already appeared on the Heavenly Book before he entered the city.

Therefore, throughout the banquet, Chen Sheng remained vigilant. When the atmosphere was at its most lively, he found an excuse that was not easily noticed and quietly left the table without alarming anyone.

As one of the four major gangs in Changshan County, the Seven Star Gang was deeply rooted in the north of the city. As the son of the former gang leader, Chen Sheng's original body naturally lived in an inconspicuous house in the north of the city.

The location of this residence is quite ingenious, neither too far nor too close to the headquarters of the Seven Star Gang, making it convenient to contact while remaining sufficiently secluded.

Even within the gang, only a handful of people knew his true identity; most had only heard of him but never seen him. Only the old steward, Uncle Yang, and his family knew his background.

That's why the original owner was so panicked when the old steward was suddenly arrested, and fled the county town in a hurry without having time to pack anything.

When Chen Sheng found the familiar house based on his memory, there was nothing unusual about the surroundings.

Pedestrians hurried along the streets and alleys, and no one paid much attention to this seemingly ordinary courtyard. He observed it secretly for a long time but found no signs of being followed or anything suspicious.

With a thought, he moved as nimbly as a cat, silently scaling the wall and entering.

The scene inside the courtyard surprised him slightly—it was not dilapidated and desolate as he had imagined, but rather clean and tidy. The plants and trees in the courtyard were neatly trimmed, and there were no fallen leaves on the stone path, as if someone had been taking good care of it all along.

'Could it be that the old butler's accident didn't affect this place?' Chen Sheng frowned, his mind filled with doubts.

As he was pondering, his gaze was drawn to a figure on the training ground.

The man was practicing stance training meticulously, his movements steady and his breathing long and deep. Chen Sheng immediately recognized the origin of the stance training – Tongbei stance training.

This was the very skill that the old steward, Uncle Yang, relied on for his survival. When he was young, the original owner of this body had also tried to learn it, but due to his weak and frail physique, he was never able to master it and eventually put it aside.

Otherwise, he wouldn't have had to wait until he obtained the "Golden Bell Body Forging Method" before formally entering the path of cultivation.

"Ahu."

Chen Sheng gazed at the familiar yet slightly unfamiliar burly figure and called out softly.

In an instant, the figure practicing the stance suddenly froze, his movements halting. He abruptly turned around, his gaze shooting towards Chen Sheng like lightning. His face first showed surprise and doubt, then turned into disbelief and astonishment. For a moment, he stood there dumbfounded, forgetting to react.

This burly young man was named Yang Hu, the only son of the old steward Uncle Yang. He had grown up with the original owner of this body since childhood, serving as both her study companion and her bodyguard. Compared to the original owner, who was weak and sickly, Yang Hu's aptitude for cultivation was much better.

Back then, it was he who first learned the news and risked his life to inform the original owner's old steward of the devastating news of his arrest. However, Yang Hu did not flee with him at the time, but chose to stay and try to rescue his father.

"Young...Young Master?!" Yang Hu finally came to his senses, his voice trembling slightly, his face a mixture of immense shock and barely concealed joy. "It...it really is you?!"

"it's me."

Chen Sheng walked forward slowly, calmly looking him over. Yang Hu was more robust than he remembered, with a weathered and rugged look between his brows.

"Young Master! You...you're finally back!"

Yang Hu was so excited that he was somewhat incoherent. He strode forward, but then stopped a few steps away from Chen Sheng, as if he was still not quite sure.

"I haven't gone too far. What about you? What happened to Uncle Yang later?" Chen Sheng got to the point.

When his father was mentioned, Yang Hu's excitement quickly faded, replaced by a deep sadness and pain:
“My father… he died in prison, and I… I couldn’t save him…”

……

As Yang Hu narrated in a low and subdued voice, Chen Sheng gradually pieced together the truth of what happened back then.

It turned out that after the old butler was arrested, he was subjected to a lot of torture, but he always kept his mouth shut and did not reveal any information about Chen Sheng. In the end, in order to keep the secret, he even shattered his heart meridian and died in prison so as not to affect Chen Sheng.

After an investigation, the Seven Stars Gang failed to find any trace of Chen Sheng. In addition, due to the complicated power struggles within the gang, the search for him gradually became less intense.

Yang Hu's identity was spared because it was never made public.

To avenge his father's murder, he went into hiding, relying on his exceptional skills and ruthlessness to join the Seven Star Gang, starting from the very bottom. After half a year of fighting and maneuvering, he gradually climbed to the position of a hall master. Although not a core member of the upper echelons, he still possessed considerable power and intelligence.

"For the past few days, I have been secretly gathering information about you and the master."

Yang Hu's voice was low and somber, "Since you left that day, there has been no news of you. I have searched everywhere but to no avail. As for the master..."

He paused, a sharp glint flashing in his eyes, and lowered his voice:

"Regarding the cause of the master's death, I secretly investigated and discovered that there was another secret involved. The master was not killed by Vice Chief Ma during the internal rebellion, as the outside world said."

In fact, according to my information, Deputy Chief Ma was not present when the master was murdered. He only took over the position of chief after the master's death, with the full support of the Gao family, by quickly quelling the chaos.

"The Gao family?"

Chen Sheng's gaze sharpened. He had just heard this name tonight—the head of the noble family who proposed the marriage alliance at the Juxianlou banquet was none other than the head of the Gao family.

"Yes."

Yang Hu nodded emphatically, his tone certain, "The Gao family has always been behind the Seven Star Gang. I suspect that the Gao family is involved in the master's death, and may even be the mastermind! Deputy Gang Leader Ma is just a puppet they put on the front stage!"

Chen Sheng listened silently. This was indeed the first time he had learned these inside stories. In the original owner's memories, the details of the gang conflicts were very vague.

"Anything else?" Chen Sheng pressed, noticing that Yang Hu seemed somewhat hesitant.

Yang Hu hesitated for a moment, then finally nodded, lowering his voice even further:

"Also... from what I've observed, the gang hasn't completely given up on finding you. It seems... the master left behind something extremely important that Vice Gang Leader Ma, or rather, the Gao family behind him, are very concerned about."

"When they investigated you, it was partly to eliminate any future threats, and partly, they probably wanted to find clues about that item on you..."

"A great treasure?" Chen Sheng's heart skipped a beat. This might be the "secret" that the [Avoid Misfortune and Seek Good Fortune] Heavenly Book had hinted at, which he had almost missed.

However, he quickly searched through the original owner's memories but found nothing. The original owner's father rarely mentioned gang affairs to him, let alone any valuable treasures.

When he fled in panic, besides taking some gold and silver valuables, the only thing he took with him was a piece of warm jade that he had inherited from his family and kept close to his body.

The jade was something his father painstakingly found to nourish his body and make up for his congenital deficiencies. He had worn it since childhood, and it did indeed slightly nourish his blood and qi. But after wearing it for so many years, he had never discovered anything special about the jade.

"I suspect that's the case."

Yang Hu said, "Otherwise, it's hard to explain why they're still so persistent."

Do you know what that thing is?

Yang Hu shook his head, looking ashamed.
"I can't find out the specifics. Although I am now a hall master, I have only been in this position for a short time and have not yet truly entered the core circle. This is the limit of what I can access."

"You've had a tough time these past few days," Chen Sheng said, patting his shoulder in a gentler tone.

"Young Master, please don't say that."

Yang Hu hurriedly said, then his expression turned serious, "Young Master, forgive my bluntness, but the matter of Master is still unresolved. It is too dangerous for you to return now! Take my advice and leave Changshan County as soon as possible! I will avenge the blood feud between my father and Master! I will never betray Master's kindness in raising and educating me!"

"How do you plan to report this?" Chen Sheng asked him calmly.

Yang Hu clenched his fists, his knuckles turning white from the force, and a terrifying ferocity and determination flashed in his eyes:
"I...I'm close to breaking through to the Bone Forging Realm! Once I successfully break through, I'll have enough strength! I'll find the right opportunity to personally kill that dog surnamed Ma! I'll also slaughter his entire family to appease the spirits of my master and father in heaven! I...I'll also take over the entire Seven Star Gang, and if I have the ability in the future, I'll make that Gao family pay for their blood debt!"

His words were filled with a desperate madness and hatred; clearly, the forbearance and planning of the past six months had allowed the flames of revenge to burn through his entire mind.
