Mysterious Resurrection: What If

Chapter 47 The Butterfly Dream of Zhuangzi

Chapter 47 The Butterfly Dream of Zhuangzi (Part Two)

"Dad, Mom, I'm back."

Yang Jian took off his shoes and walked into the living room.

Yang Xiao sat on the sofa reading the newspaper, Zhang Fen was cooking in the kitchen, and the news was playing on the TV.

A large black dog sat cross-legged in the corner of the living room. When it saw Yang Jian enter, it immediately bared its teeth and growled.

Yang Xiao's voice came from behind the newspaper.

"Sit still and don't make a sound."

The black dog whimpered twice, spun around twice, then lowered its head and lay down on the floor.

Yang Xiao continued, "Go wash your hands, it's time to eat."

Zhang Fen came out of the kitchen carrying a bowl of crayfish.

"Son, look what delicious food Mom made for you today, including your favorite Coke! The college entrance exam is coming up soon, so you need to take good care of yourself and get into a good university!"

After washing his hands, Yang Jian took the three bowls and chopsticks and sat down at the table, waiting for the meal to be served.

Zhang Fen took a bottle of cola out of the refrigerator.

"Eat up, you're so thin, eat more today."

"Okay, thank you, Mom."

Zhang Fen's cooking skills were excellent, and Yang Jian ate three large bowls of rice.

Yang Jian put down his chopsticks and looked at his father.

Yang Xiao kept reading the newspaper, even while eating. Yang Jian hadn't seen his father's face since he came home.

Yang Jian looked at the newspaper, which contained several news articles.

"Many coastal cities have been hit by the hurricane. There are no reports of casualties so far. Residents are advised to close their windows to avoid injury and property damage."

"A massive earthquake has struck Dahai City. The number of casualties is currently unknown. Rescue teams from all over the country are rapidly heading to provide support. If an earthquake occurs, we should immediately..."

Yang Jian stared blankly at the two news articles, as if he had remembered something.

Yang Xiao's voice came from behind the newspaper, interrupting his thoughts.

"What are you looking at? I heard you have a new teacher in your class. With the college entrance exam approaching, I hope it won't affect your studies."

"Ah," Yang Jian paused for a moment, then said:
"No, I take notes in class now and review them every day."

As he spoke, he took out the notebook that Miao Xiaoshan had given him from his schoolbag.

"Oh, my son is so good, have some more." Zhang Fen said, putting another piece of food into Yang Jian's bowl.

"Mom, I'm full. I'm going back to my room to study."

With that, Yang Jian walked towards the bedroom.

Just as they turned the corner, they overheard Zhang Fen speaking to Yang Xiao.

"You're always looking at that newspaper, I don't know what's so interesting about it. Stop reading and come eat something."

"Ok."

As Zhang Fen spoke, she stuck the food into the newspaper.

My father is incredibly lazy; he won't even put down his newspaper while eating and needs to be fed.

Yang Jian didn't pay any attention and went into the bedroom to turn on the light.

The room was simply furnished with a bed, a table, a wardrobe, and a few celebrity posters on the walls.

Sitting at the table, Yang Jian opened the notebook that Miao Xiaoshan had given him.

The first page of the notebook had Miao Xiaoshan's name on it, but it looked strange. It didn't look like it was written with a pen; it looked more like it was sewn on with bluish-black dye using a needle.

Turn to the next page; the contents appear to be a diary entry.

"On the evening of March 22, Zhang Wei found a red cloth bag at his doorstep."

"On the evening of March 23, Zhang Wei was chased by a dog when he went out..."

"How come Miao Xiaoshan is so familiar with Zhang Wei..."

Yang Jian didn't think much of it and continued flipping through the pages.

The following content is what our new homeroom teacher, Zhang Xianguang, taught in class today.

Yang Jian frowned as he looked at the contents of the document.

"When faced with the supernatural, anything unusual can happen. Sometimes, don't trust your memory, follow your instincts, and explore the root of the supernatural event."

"What do you mean...? What does this have to do with the college entrance exam?..."

Yang Jian frowned, completely unable to understand the contents above.

Yang Jian closed his notebook, lay down on the bed, and fell into a deep sleep.

In his dream, Yang Jian felt someone pushing him, as if trying to wake him up, but Yang Jian was too tired, and no matter how the person shook him, Yang Jian kept his eyes tightly closed.

Half-asleep, Yang Jian heard someone open the door and walk in. The footsteps seemed to be moving around inside. The footsteps stopped in front of Yang Jian, and the person reached out and shook Yang Jian. When Yang Jian did not move, the person withdrew.

The sound of curtains being drawn rang out.

"Son, get up and go to school."

Zhang Fen pulled back the curtains, and the soft morning sunlight streamed into the room.

"Oh well."

Yang Jian sat up, clutching his head. He felt a splitting headache and realized he had only slept for a few minutes last night.

After getting dressed and leaving the bedroom, I saw Yang Xiaozheng preparing to go out for a dog walk. He was still holding that newspaper in his hand, which was covering his face.

Yang Jian hurriedly picked up the two eggs on the table and followed him out.

Opening the door, the morning air was slightly cool, but Yang Xiao was nowhere to be seen outside.

"Walking so fast?"

Yang Jian found it a bit strange; he had followed his father as soon as he left the house.

"Yang Jian! Get in the car now!" An elderly voice came from the street.

"coming!"

Yang Jian jogged and jumped onto the bus.

"Thank you, Mr. Qin."

"You young people have no sense of time at all."

The bus slowly started moving and headed towards the school.

Yang Jian sat in the back row by the window, looking outside, still thinking about the contents of his notes.

"Supernatural? Ghosts?"

Just then, a hazy, condensed cloud floated up from the sky. Yang Jian reached out and caught a piece; it was icy cold to the touch.

"Snow?.."

"How could it possibly snow in this weather?"

Just then, Yang Jian suddenly remembered the words Zhang Xianguang had written on the blackboard.

When facing the supernatural, anything can happen; trust your intuition.
"Xiao Yang! We've arrived at the station!"

Old Qin's voice suddenly interrupted his thoughts.

Yang Jian stood up and looked coldly at Old Qin.

Although he still feels confused and disoriented.

But whenever he felt he was about to grasp a crucial moment, the events around him would suddenly interrupt his thoughts, causing a strange restlessness within Yang Jian.

Ignoring Yang Jian's cold attitude, Old Qin smiled and said to Yang Jian, "Young Yang, don't miss the bus today like yesterday."

Yang Jian didn't say anything, but got out of the car with a cold face and walked towards the school gate.

The school gate was lined with vendors, and from a distance, Yang Jian could see Zhang Wei drooling in front of a vendor selling grilled sausages.

"Zhang Wei," Yang Jian called out.

Zhang Wei immediately ran towards Yang Jian as if he had seen a savior.

"Yang Jian! Hurry, lend me five cents, I'll pay you back tomorrow."

"Didn't you say you could easily pay off millions for me? Why are you asking for even five cents?"

As Yang Jian spoke, he handed Zhang Wei a crumpled bill.

"Hey, my dad said he won't give me any allowance if I don't get into college. Here, have the first bite."

Zhang Wei offered the sausage to Yang Jian's mouth, but Yang Jian ignored him and stared at the large Buddha statue in the center of the school.

He clearly saw that the Buddha looked at him for a moment, its mouth open as if it were about to say something.

But when he looked closely, the Buddha statue regained its majestic appearance.

Is it an illusion?

Yang Jian took a bite of the grilled sausage and walked into the school with Zhang Wei.

The school bell rang, and students entered the classroom one after another.

"dong dong dong"

Just like yesterday, Zhang Xianguang knocked on the door three times and entered the classroom.

"Students, take out the test papers you received yesterday. Today we will continue with yesterday's content."

Yang Jian was about to take the test paper from his desk when he suddenly realized that he didn't even know which subject Zhang Xianguang taught.

"Zhang Wei, which test paper do you want?"

"Damn, you're even more awesome than me. You don't know anything he teaches."

"Stop with the nonsense, which one should we take?"

"I didn't bring it either."

Yang Jian punched Zhang Wei. Helpless, he could only randomly pull out an exam paper from the drawer.

Logically, newly issued test papers should be brand new, but the one in Yang Jian's hand was yellowish and had many wrinkles, making it look like a human skin.

Yang Jian was stunned when he opened the exam paper.

There was nothing on it, it was completely empty.

At this moment, Zhang Xianguang looked at Yang Jian.

"Yang Jian, stand up and tell me what you understand about the material I asked you to review yesterday."

Yang Jian stared at the blank exam paper, trying hard to recall the words Zhang Xianguang had written on the blackboard yesterday.

As if he were born with this talent, Yang Jian blurted it out instinctively.

"While probing is not a necessary practice when facing paranormal events, it can be beneficial."

Zhang Xianguang nodded and said, "Hmm, not bad, continue."

"But some supernatural phenomena don't give people any time to test them. When you're in the midst of it, you have to carefully observe every detail, follow the rules of the supernatural, and discover its weaknesses."

"Very good, so what are the patterns of the supernatural?"

Yang Jian suddenly froze, wondering why he had said those things. But these things seemed to be imprinted in his mind, and even if he didn't think about them, they would instinctively appear in his mind.

Yang Jian stared at the blank exam paper, completely unaware of any supernatural laws.

Something's wrong...something's really wrong.
Suddenly, Yang Jian noticed that there were three lines of distorted text on the test paper.

"Ghosts cannot be killed."

"Only ghosts can fight ghosts."

"To discern the patterns of ghosts."
