Mysterious Resurrection: What If

Chapter 42 The Buddhist Kingdom in a Dream

Chapter 42 The Buddhist Kingdom in a Dream (Part 11)

The vehicle drove into a small grove of trees, and the three entered a spacious building.

Yang Jian was already used to these illogical scene changes, while Lin Bei and Xiao Yuan were already accustomed to them, as they were both veterans who had experienced dreams many times.

The three of them got out of the car.

"Headquarters"

Yang Jian slowly scanned the surrounding environment. This was a large shelter on the third basement floor of the headquarters.

"Tap tap... tap tap"

"What's that sound?" Lin Bei's expression changed, and he turned around to look into the depths of darkness.

Countless footsteps echoed in the darkness; someone was approaching them.

"Captain Yang, the entrance has disappeared. We're trapped."

Yang Jian remained silent, staring intently at a dark red hue in the darkness.

A woman dressed in red, with indistinct facial features, walked out.

Ghostly drawing!

Yang Jian recognized those fair arms at a glance, and they still looked strange now.

The footsteps grew more frequent, and more and more people emerged from the darkness.

An infant with a bluish-black body and an umbilical cord still attached.

A tall, imposing male corpse carrying a coffin.

A mummified corpse wearing a red canopy and a red robe.

Yang Jian even saw himself, a version of himself with his entire face covered by a piece of human skin.

The ghosts were approaching, and their numbers were increasing. Countless figures swayed in the darkness, as if they would rush out at any moment and tear the three of them apart.

Suddenly, it started raining from the ceiling.

Xiaoyuan put on the hood of her raincoat and asked in confusion, "What are all these things? And why can't we kill all those female corpses no matter how many times we kill them?"

Yang Jian's expression was solemn. "The supernatural events I've experienced, the ghosts inside my body—these things are the embodiment of my fears. This dream seems to know what I'm afraid of and has begun to attack me in a targeted manner."

This place holds all the fears Yang Jian had experienced in the past, and the true source of this nightmare may be hidden within it.

"Xiaoyuan, can you tell which one is the real ghost?"

Xiaoyuan shook her head: "I don't know."

She pulled out a dagger.

"Cousin, let's do it. We'll eventually kill that ghost eventually."

She was a reckless woman who never thought things through and in this dream, she just killed anyone she saw.

Yang Jian remained silent, his expression growing increasingly grave as he watched the approaching horde of ghosts.

The rain on the ceiling gradually intensified, and the ground began to get wet.

Although the entire refuge floor is extremely spacious, the increasing number of ghosts is filling the empty hall.

Lin Bei stood to the side, holding a piece of broken glass, and said, "Captain Yang, do you have any ideas? This number will exhaust us to death."

Yang Jian remained silent, sorting through all the intelligence he had gathered so far.

The world in the dream, the giant Buddha in that mirror space, the collision between two kinds of supernatural beings, and this group of vengeful ghosts that keep manifesting.

He was analyzing the key to the problem, trying to find a glimmer of hope in the two intertwined supernatural phenomena.

Yang Jian always believed that as long as there are ghosts, there must be patterns to them.

And patterns often mean that they can be utilized.

Insight into the patterns of ghosts.

Only a ghost can fight a ghost.

These two ironclad rules apply to even the most terrifying ghosts.

Turning his head, a hint of madness flashed in his eyes. "I have an idea, it just depends on whether you dare to try it." Lin Bei was startled by Yang Jian's gaze; he couldn't imagine what Yang Jian would do given his personality.

Lin Bei asked cautiously, "Will I die...?"

"You seem to be talking nonsense." Yang Jian gripped the dagger in his hand tightly.

"When faced with paranormal events, there are never many choices, and this applies to everyone, including me."

"Risk and reward are often proportional. In paranormal events, it's always a matter of facing death to survive. I've experienced this several times, so it's up to you whether you believe me or not."

Lin Bei stood silently, seemingly making a choice and weighing the pros and cons.

Perhaps because he had become an ordinary person again, Yang Jian felt a strange urge to express his emotions.

Seeing that Lin Bei was still hesitant, Yang Jian continued, "Lin Bei, I've seen you become a Ghost Tamer for so long now, why are you so timid and hesitant about things? Buddha said he would save all sentient beings, but did he actually save them?"

"Get out of here alive and become your own Buddha."

Lin Bei was taken aback by what Yang Jian said.

"Damn it, I'll risk it." He looked up at Yang Jian.

"Captain Yang, I will completely trust you from now on. Let's get started."

“Very good.” Yang Jian nodded and said to Lin Bei, “Take out all the mirrors you have on you.”

He had just heard a clanging sound coming from Lin Bei's body, so it seemed he had searched for quite a few mirrors in the Furen Shopping Mall.

Then he turned to Xiaoyuan and said, "Xiaoyuan, hold off these ghosts. It won't be long."

"Okay." Xiaoyuan had been wanting to rush up and kill indiscriminately for a long time. She immediately took out the pistol, grabbed a dagger, and rushed forward.

Yang Jian looked at the gun in Xiao Yuan's hand, feeling that something was off. The gun was perfectly integrated, and its power was greater than any handgun he had seen at headquarters. If this gun was one of those homemade guns, the craftsmanship was simply too exquisite.

But he doesn't have time to think about these things now.

Lin Bei had already taken off his coat, and the inside was covered with gleaming shards of mirror.

Looking into the mirror, a large Buddha sits in a mirrored world, its face hazy and indistinct, yet giving the impression that three faces appear on it at the same time.

Yang Jian pointed to his feet and said:

"Spread the mirror on the floor."

Lin Bei nodded and immediately began to spread the mirror fragments on the ground with Yang Jian.

Although he didn't understand what Yang Jian was going to do, now that he had decided to believe him, he couldn't hesitate any longer.

The two men pieced together the mirrors, one by one.

Yang Jian looked up at the small garden, her petite figure leaping and tumbling among the ghosts. Each pause was accompanied by the fall of a vengeful ghost.

My cousin is hiding too many secrets. Her superb killing skills are like those of a professional, and every move is swift and decisive, aiming straight for the heads of these vengeful ghosts.

And that strange gun...
"Captain Yang, all done."

Lin Bei attached the last piece of mirror. On the ground, a mirror surface large enough for three people to stand on was formed.

Yang Jian immediately called out to Xiao Yuan, "Xiao Yuan, come back!"

"Oh, you're here." Xiaoyuan immediately trotted back, tilting her head to look at Yang Jian.

"What's the matter."

Yang Jian pulled Xiao Yuan over and said, "Stand on the mirror."

Looking at the mirrors scattered on the floor, Lin Bei seemed to understand what Yang Jian wanted to do.

Without Xiaoyuan's obstruction, the vengeful spirits quickly surrounded the three of them.

The first vengeful ghost approached, its stiff legs stepping on the mirror. Its body was immediately reflected in the mirror—a mummified corpse wearing a red veil.

Yang Jian still doesn't understand what the connection is between the female corpse he encountered with Ye Zhen in Dahai City and the mummified corpse he encountered when the bus stalled.

But now is not the time to think about that. He stabbed the corpse with a knife and then ripped off the red veil.
