Mysterious Resurrection: What If

Chapter 11 Lake and Wind

Chapter 11 Lake and Wind (Part 1)

"Liu San, go out and pass on the intelligence!"

On either side were cold, scorching dark green flames, burning on both sides of Liu San, carving out a narrow path for him in a world of raging winds.

Li Jun's entire body was charred, and a stiff, vivid face hung eerily and clearly on half of his head.

"Li Jun... hang in there, you must survive."

Liu San gave Li Jun a deep look, then turned and left.

Suddenly, a dark, howling wind, mixed with cold rain and countless severed limbs, attacked Liu San. In just a moment of contact, Li Jun's ghostly domain was torn apart, blocking Liu San's retreat.

Liu San turned his head and looked at the figures not far away with a gloomy expression.

"I'll remember you from the Reform Society, a bunch of self-righteous old fogies from the old era..."

'Discard some memories, abandon this paper figure'

Faced with the strange and unknown gale, Liu San had no choice but to abandon the paper figure, even though its importance was second only to the original body.

Liu San suddenly thrust his hand into his chest cavity.

"Not everything becomes more powerful the longer it lives. Since you all want to keep me here, then I'll give myself to you."

As soon as Liu San finished speaking, his body began to unfold rapidly, turning into pieces of yellow paper, which drifted away towards the several figures that were not visible in the raging wind.

"Retreat! Something's wrong with this person. These yellow papers are strange; they can maintain their direction and hurtle towards us even in this wind."

"Such a young major general, I really don't want to kill you..."

Several figures slowly disappeared into the raging wind, leaving only Li Jun's charred body behind.

In front of a huge screen at headquarters.

Wang Xiaoming stared at the large screen on the wall, where a skull-shaped hurricane was slowly forming in a satellite image.

"Professor Wang, Liu San just sent back a message confirming that it is a paranormal event. This hurricane is suspected to be caused by the collision between Ghost Lake and some unknown paranormal entity that has not yet been recorded."

Wang Xiaoming looked at the screen, his hands tapping on the keyboard as he recorded something.

"Have Fang Shiming come over and send him all the files and data related to this incident. He's dying. Tell him to help resolve this incident, and I'll help him solve the problem of the vengeful ghost's resurgence."

The WeChat Moments Building has three underground floors.

"I was in a terrible state after that incident. I probably wouldn't even last a week..."

Fang Shiming frowned as he looked at the report before him. His physical body had recovered, but the problem of the vengeful spirit resurfacing within him remained unresolved, and the researchers in his circle of friends were unable to provide an effective solution.

"The bus or that cemetery, I don't have many choices..."

Looking at the report in front of him, Fang Shiming was weighing the pros and cons of some paranormal locations.

"Mr. Fang, it's a call from headquarters."

A woman in business attire knocked on the door with a specially made telephone.

Fang Shiming was taken aback, but then immediately realized that he had been following the hurricane closely on social media.

"Wang Xiaoming really has a good plan to come to me at this time. That hurricane could even blow away Li Jun's ghost domain. He came to me because my affinity with that wind is similar."

After the three S-level vengeful ghosts in Dajing City went out of control last time, Fang Shiming is in a very bad state. If he doesn't find a solution soon, he won't be able to hold on for much longer, even if he continues to sleep like before.

"Damn headquarters, sending a message like this at this time is practically sending us to our deaths! President Fang, let's just go all out and take advantage of the fact that headquarters is so weakened right now, storm in and kidnap Wang Xiaoming!"

Jiang Shangbai stood outside the door, looking at the information in his hand with a gloomy expression.

Although he wasn't directly involved in the out-of-control events, he had been dealing with the vengeful spirits imprisoned at headquarters on the outskirts of Dajing City, and his current condition wasn't much better. Fang Shiming, seeing Jiang Shangbai's outburst, didn't blame him but calmly said...

"Jiang Shangbai, remember, don't be angry, anger will only make you lose your mind, and don't easily hate, because hatred will make you lose your judgment."

I stood up and looked down at the city of Kyoto outside the floor-to-ceiling windows.

"In paranormal events, anything can happen, and keeping a clear head is the key to survival."

Fang Shiming's gloved hand held an old pair of scissors covered in stray hairs.

Think for a moment.

“Jiang Shangbai, you shouldn’t be here. Going to help headquarters deal with the vengeful ghosts that haven’t been imprisoned in Dajing City is like lips and teeth. If headquarters falls completely, the next one will be WeChat Moments.”

"Li Yao, tell headquarters that I have received the message, but my previous agreement with Wang Xiaoming has been fulfilled. That's it, I have to leave for a while."

Inside the headquarters.

"What does this mean by posting on WeChat Moments? Does it mean I've been rejected?"

Cao Yanhua stood in the center of the hall, looking at the satellite photos on the screen.

Wang Xiaoming stared blankly at the data on the computer in front of him, lost in thought.

"Given Fang Shiming's personality, he most likely wouldn't agree. Unlike Yang Jian, he had already established the precursor company of his network of friends before he even became a Ghost Tamer."

"But the message I sent to my WeChat Moments included information about the hurricane. He should be there by now. To solve the problem of his own vengeful spirit's resurgence, he needs to explore deeper levels of the supernatural. He's a smart man. Although this incident is dangerous, it is also an opportunity for him."

"Contact Yang Jian. Liu San helped him at the tattoo parlor, so he won't refuse."

The helicopter hovered in the air, and Fang Shiming looked at the distant, sky-covering gale and dark clouds.

Even though they were thousands of meters apart, Fang Shiming could still sense the changes in his surroundings.

"However, Wang Xiaoming's information did give me a reminder. This terrifying hurricane has a very high compatibility with the vengeful spirit within me. For a ghost tamer to survive, it's definitely not about avoiding supernatural events or blindly charging forward."

The people inside the helicopter could also smell a faint stench of corpses, as if the hurricane that blotted out the sky was mixed with countless pieces of corpses.

"Land here. Any further ahead is beyond your reach."

The raging winds howled past, and the thick, pale fog around the hurricane's edge had completely isolated the hurricane's interior from the outside world.

Fang Shiming stood on the rooftop of a building, observing the city within the hurricane.

The biting wind carried the chilly, damp rain, and the air was thick with the stench of corpses.

Countless limbs flew wildly through the air. Occasionally, one or two mutilated corpses were carried by the gale and streaked across the sky, then crashed into the wall of a tall building with a bang, before being scattered by the torrential rain.

"It's not a ghost realm, but it possesses some of the characteristics of one. Communication devices are completely unusable. There are also many ordinary people hiding in this city."

"Those people can also enter and exit freely through certain special methods, but once inside, their vision and sense of direction will be obstructed; if they don't get out in time, they'll die here..."

Fang Shiming silently analyzed the situation before him.

"The pattern of the killings is still unclear. I've been standing here for at least five minutes, and it's definitely not a contact-based killing, but an area of this scale should have a source. Could it be something like a ghost coffin belonging to a ghost messenger?"

He pinched the raindrops off his fingertips.

"Based on the information from headquarters, this hurricane possesses some of the supernatural elements of Ghost Lake. This is truly troublesome... The frequency of supernatural events is increasing, and the level of terror is also rising. The old methods of controlling vengeful spirits are outdated; we must seek new opportunities in this desperate situation."

P.S.: There is a time gap between the out-of-control event and the current plot, spanning the tattoo parlor incident. After the out-of-control event, Yang Jian found the tattoo parlor through the human skin paper in the face of the supernatural resurgence, but it was not written for some reasons. The setting is currently being prepared and bugs are being fixed so that it can be connected with the later plot. The story of the tattoo parlor will also be gradually filled in later.
