Hogwarts: A Chinese-Style Professor
Chapter 44 Follow-up Investigation
Chapter 44 Follow-up Investigation
The news that Professor Snape laughed in class spread like wildfire throughout the entire house immediately after class, even faster than the 'rumors' that Cedric and his friends had intended to spread.
After all, this is big news for students of any grade, and the level of surprise is no less than when Peeves teased Dumbledore.
After discussion, the students discovered that although not every class had the opportunity to witness Snape's smile, his temper had indeed improved significantly during the four classes that day.
The most indisputable example is that Porter, whom he had been targeting, only lost one point in class that day.
Neville, who had always been disliked by Snape, actually received Snape's 'patient correction' treatment that day.
This is not just extremely rare, it's practically unique.
"Let's not talk about that now—I have bad news and good news to tell you!"
A third-year Gryffindor student, just out of class, arrives at the Great Hall—because of the Chamber of Secrets, the three houses are closer than ever, and their meeting place has moved from their respective common rooms to the Great Hall.
"That homework-obsessed professor announced something terrifying to us, including the second-year students, today—he's going to start monthly exams for the lower grades too. Do you even know what monthly exams are?"
Monthly exams? Just hearing that word makes me want to vomit.
"Don't rush to throw up, there's something even more important! From now on, the monthly exam scores will be linked to the college cup scores. The college that gets the most first place will earn 50 college points each month, second place will get 20 points, third place will get 10 points, and fourth place will get nothing!"
"Merlin's beard! Aren't those exercises and homework enough? We also have to prepare for exams?"
"That's the good news, what about the bad news?"
?
Everyone at the long table turned their attention to the girl who had spoken.
Oh, it's Ravenclaw. Oh, never mind then.
The Gryffindors clenched their fists and turned their heads back.
Just now, the three-academy alliance, which had been formed less than a day ago, quietly faced the risk of dissolution.
"Ahem," the student cleared his throat, pretending nothing had happened, and said cheerfully:
"The good news is that the secret room thing is indeed just a legend!"
Do you know Percy Weasley, the sixth-year student? He's our Gryffindor prefect, the guy who got 12 Os on his OWL exams!
I heard that in his History of Magic class he asked Professor Binns about the Chamber of Secrets, and Professor Binns actually answered him—he's a genius, isn't he?
"Really? What did Professor Binns say?"
“He said it was a myth, that it didn’t exist! Our hero Percy even got angry about it.”
"Then it seems we can rest assured?"
"Of course!"
On the other side, Harry and Ron, wearing invisibility cloaks, were squatting motionless near the door of Levi's office.
Hermione remained convinced that Levi was innocent, and since there was no need for all three of them to stake out the place, she did not join the other two.
If only one person were here, neither Harry nor Ron would be able to hold on.
But when the two of them are together, everything is no longer a problem.
To Harry's great fortune, they didn't have to wait long this time.
Just as dinner time was approaching, Li Wei came out, followed by Qiao Weili and Jia Meier.
Harry guessed they were going to eat, but he quickly followed them anyway.
"What do we do now, man?" Ron mumbled through the Great Hall, stuffing a sausage into his mouth. "We'd better pray we don't run into Hermione right now."
"Think about it, we were sure we'd find something out about the professor once we 'came down' to Haikou, but instead we're eating in the auditorium!"
"Don't worry, Hermione will understand, and she's probably busy right now."
Harry looked a little embarrassed.
But the more he encountered such situations, the more determined he became to continue his investigation!
After Li Wei finished eating, Harry patted Ron, who was still stuffing food into his mouth, and the two quickly followed him again.
“If he goes back to his office right away, then I think we should call it a day. I haven’t done any of my homework yet.”
Ron muttered something before putting on the invisibility cloak.
Harry didn't say anything, but he was actually more anxious than Ron. He had a Quidditch match tomorrow afternoon and had to get up early for training, so his workload was much heavier than Ron's!
But Hogwarts is clearly in big trouble now. Whether it's a basilisk in the Chamber of Secrets or Professor Levi is a lurking Death Eater, it's a catastrophic disaster for the students.
Could he really just ignore all of this and go home to do his homework?
Harry pursed his lips and began to move carefully with Ron.
To their relief, this time Li Wei and his two assistants parted ways and went in another direction—meaning they might have some success this time.
"Harry, where do you think he's going?"
Harry did not answer Ron's question.
But they soon found the answer—Li Wei stopped just as he walked from the auditorium to the vicinity of the foyer.
There was a dark, windowless little room.
"Is that Filch's house?"
"Ron!"
Harry frowned and glanced at Ron—according to Hermione, Professor Levi's magical skills were quite high.
Although Harry didn't give himself away when he followed Professor Snape, that doesn't mean Professor Levy wouldn't have noticed—in any case, Ron's behavior was far too reckless.
"Feel sorry."
Ron said something in a low voice.
With this interruption, they saw that Professor Li Wei had already knocked on the door and reached into his robes.
What is he going to do? Pull out his wand? Right here in front of everyone?!
Harry's heart began to race.
Then he saw the cautious Filch—the Hogwarts caretaker looked visibly frightened, his movements timid and completely devoid of his usual ferocity.
Why is he so afraid? Is he intimidated by Professor Li Wei? Is it because he knows some inside information?
Harry's brow furrowed even more—he had never seen Filch like this before, not even when facing Dumbledore, whose expression was always tense and he looked unhappy.
“Filch, this is what I promised you.”
Li Wei handed the specially made alchemical weapon to Filch.
"Thank you, Professor Li Wei!"
Filch eagerly took the long-desired item from Levi's hand and held it tightly in his grasp.
"I suggest you start keeping a diary from today, recording how much time you use this tool each day, the thoughts that arise while using it, and the changes in your body."
If you encounter any problems during the process, or if you do successfully gain the ability to cast spells, please let me know.
"Since it's your order, I will definitely do it!"
Seeing that Li Wei quickly fulfilled his promise, Filch's attitude became even more respectful.
"Ah."
Li Wei nodded and turned to leave.
Only after confirming that he had returned to the office did the air in the corner suddenly tremble, revealing Harry and Ron's figures.
"Damn it, why is Filch so afraid of him? He even gave Filch a gun—I remember that was an alchemical toy he used to reward good students? What's he giving it to Filch for?"
“I don’t know, Ron—I only know that Professor Levy must have a secret.”
Immediately afterwards, the two said in unison:
"Let's go find Hermione!"
