Chapter 41 Hermione's Decision
Chapter 41 Hermione's Decision
"Reaching a consensus?"
Snape gave Levi a cold look and nodded.
"Consider yourself lucky, but you should understand—there won't be a next time!"
After saying that, he turned around abruptly and hurriedly prepared to leave.
"Hey, Snape."
Li Wei suddenly called out to him.
Snape turned around, his furrowed brows revealing a pair of questioning eyes.
"Thank you for speaking up for me before. If you didn't keep talking about black magic all the time, you wouldn't be so annoying."
"."
Snape's expression at that moment was as if he had drunk a cup of Bone Spirit.
For some reason, he suddenly found Li Wei disgusting—he didn't understand why Li Wei would say such a thing, as it was completely out of character for him.
"Is your brain still functioning properly?"
He forced himself to remain calm and uttered those words, then turned and swung his wizard's robes with a flourish, disappearing as quickly as a fat bat.
Inside Li Wei's office.
Camille paced back and forth anxiously, Jowell sat silently in his seat, while Cedric and Hermione exchanged bewildered glances.
No one took the initiative to speak.
The four of them dared not break the silence—as if doing so would lead to something terrible.
So Hermione started giving Harry a barrage of eye signals, occasionally adding facial expressions and small body movements.
"What do we do now? Professor Levi won't be in trouble, will he? Why is there a basilisk? Didn't we already tell Dumbledore?"
How would I know? You ask me?
Hermione glared at Harry, then looked at Ron.
What's your opinion on this?
Ron glanced nervously around before timidly approaching Hermione.
His expression at that moment looked like he'd been kicked in the balls, and was throbbing with pain as he whispered, enduring the agony:
Hermione, are your eyes bothering you?
"."
Hermione felt like she was going crazy.
How has she endured all this all this time?
Don't these people have even the slightest thought about the current situation?
Instinctively, she looked at Cedric—who was staring at the table with a worried expression, and Hermione knew from his expression that he must have figured something out.
However, with Ron between her and Cedric, it was impossible for her to connect with him.
Time ticked by, but Li Wei still hadn't returned.
Ron and Harry both felt an unbearable itch in their throats and desperately wanted to cough, but they forced themselves to hold it in.
In this situation, Jowell suddenly spoke.
"Cedric, Hermione, you should go back now. It's almost time for the night tour to start, isn't it?"
"Will I be able to stay here until the professor returns? I'm really worried."
Cedric was the first to make the request, amidst the admiring gazes of the three little ones—which was exactly what they were thinking too.
Jowell's tense expression relaxed slightly, and he forced a smile, saying:
“Let’s go back first. Don’t worry. If the situation were really bad, they would have started fighting already. The fact that they can talk calmly shows that Headmaster Dumbledore is indeed a reasonable person.” “Okay.”
Cedric did not insist further.
After all, if Professor Li Wei didn't come back all night, Qiao Weili couldn't possibly make them wait here all night.
Seeing Jowell retreat, Hermione and her two companions obediently stood up and followed him away.
"boom."
After closing the door, Ron and Harry both let out a long sigh of relief—they weren't familiar with the two assistants to begin with, unlike Hermione who saw them every week. Sitting inside just now, they felt incredibly stressed.
Harry, in particular, took all the blame upon himself—Professor Levy's misfortune was entirely undeserved, caused by his impulsive search for the Basilisk.
But after relaxing, he couldn't help but feel that something was wrong. Why would Headmaster Dumbledore allow the basilisk to attack when he already knew about it?
What went wrong in this process?
“I’d like to tell Cedric about our previous findings. What do you think?”
"Tell him? Why?"
Ron was a little confused—why tell others the secret they had worked so hard to discover?
Can we trust him?
Harry was a little worried—he had a bad feeling about this all the time.
"Listen! The secret chamber has been opened for some reason. We must find out what happened, or everyone will be in danger! If another basilisk attack occurs, the school might have to be closed."
"Is it that serious?"
“Of course!” Hermione waved her hands vigorously. “After seeing what Jowell and Camille did, don’t you understand how dangerous the Basilisk is?”
Seeing Ron and Harry's somewhat bewildered expressions, Hermione suddenly realized that the two of them hadn't done their homework properly, and the professor hadn't even taught them about the Basilisk yet; only the members of the study group had spent extra time learning it beforehand.
Thinking of this, she sighed and patiently explained:
"Each Dark Creature Ministry has its own danger rating system to define the level of danger."
For example, Harry, the troll you defeated last semester was a 4X difficulty dark creature, which is extremely dangerous and requires wizards with specialized knowledge to deal with—according to Professor Levy, this kind of creature is so dangerous that only professor-level wizards can handle it.
However, although the trolls possess amazing strength, they are quite low in intelligence, making them relatively easy to deal with in this level of difficulty.
The basilisk, being a 5X difficulty level, symbolizes extreme danger. It can easily hunt and kill adult wizards, and even the most experienced Aurors are often helpless against them, not to mention the basilisk's deadly eyes.
The reason we haven't suspended classes yet, with such a dangerous creature roaming the school, is probably only because Professor McGonagall and the others don't know that this was caused by the Basilisk.
Harry's already serious expression tightened even more.
If classes are suspended, not only will his wonderful school life end prematurely, but more importantly, he will have to return to the home he hates more than half a year earlier. How can that be allowed!
“Tell Cedric! I think he’s wiser than we are!”
"Hey, Harry!"
Ron stared at him, not understanding why this guy had suddenly switched sides.
"Ah."
Hermione nodded.
"Cedric, please wait."
She called out to the fourth-year student who was walking silently at the front.
So he turned around, calmly looked at the three of them, and asked:
"Have you discussed it?"
From the beginning, he deliberately didn't disturb the three of them, just to give them time to discuss.
Beneath his seemingly calm exterior, Cedric was already burning with anxiety about everything that was happening tonight!
