Hogwarts: A Chinese-Style Professor

Chapter 19 The Chamber of Secrets in Slytherin

Chapter 19 The Chamber of Secrets in Slytherin

The alchemical weapons created by Li Wei caused a great stir among the students.

Even the most averse to studying saw their dissatisfaction with Li Wei decrease to a minimum in a short period of time.

In the corridors and the auditorium, people were excitedly discussing the two alchemical weapons.

Hermione stepped through the crowd, listening to them talk about and praise Professor Li Wei. The thought that she was a member of Professor Li Wei's study group made her feel better.

"Dong dong dong."

Hermione knocked gently on the door and waited patiently.

The door opened, and Li Wei, dressed in black, stood behind it.

"Granger? What's wrong?"

"Uh, Professor, it's like this."

I feel that the current workload is not enough for me, and I think this knowledge is very meaningful. I wonder if you could provide me with some extra assignments?

For example, regarding the information on dark creatures you compiled, I found that even the information compiled by the library doesn't provide as much detail as what you've given us. Of course, if you don't want that, then forget it.

"Want to do extra homework?" Levi gave Hermione a strange look and chuckled, "Of course, it's just a small thing."

As Hermione's heart raced, Levi beckoned, and a thick, parchment-bound book flew into his hands.

"This is information about dark creatures that I've compiled and recorded over the years. You can use a spell to make a double copy—I've already written the key points of the spell on the back. I think you can learn it by Sunday?"

"Thank you, Professor. I will return it to you this weekend."

"Okay, then you can hand it to me on Sunday afternoon. I have other plans for the rest of the weekend."

"."

Li Wei's words were quite blunt, almost as if he had "Don't bother me on the weekend" written all over his face.

Hermione was speechless for a moment, and even hesitated whether she should reveal the real purpose of her trip.
No, it's precisely because of Professor Li Wei's indifferent nature that it's safer to ask him!
Thinking of this, Hermione casually said:

"Professor, do you think it's possible for wizards to hear sounds that others can't?"

"Have you encountered something strange?"

"Ah, no, no, no, it wasn't me, it was a friend of mine."

Hermione hadn't expected Levi to ask so directly, and in her panic, she admitted to some of the facts, which made her somewhat flustered.
In the magical world, a wizard's ability to hear things he shouldn't is often seen as an ominous sign.

If she could, Hermione would prefer to find out indirectly.

"Hmm, a strange sound? There are actually quite a few ways to achieve this effect."

Is it a lot?

Hermione paused and followed up with a sentence.

What seemed like a complete mystery to her appeared to the professor as having many possibilities?

"For example, dark creatures: basilisks, ominous ghosts, and Thestrals—all three of these creatures can achieve what you described."

"Or perhaps they came into contact with items related to black magic, or were cursed, or possessed some kind of magical talent—similar to a psychic spell, or even foresight."

You can learn all of this in the future; the three dark creatures I mentioned will also be in that notebook.”

Hearing this knowledge alone made Hermione's eyes light up, and she nodded repeatedly.

Seeing that Li Wei's expression remained calm and composed, as if this matter meant nothing to him, Hermione's last shred of concern vanished, and she continued:
"My friend said he recently heard some terrifying noises inside Hogwarts Castle."

"Really? What did that voice say?"

"I didn't ask for details, but it seemed to be dangerous words like 'tear' or 'kill'." "Is that so? Then we can rule out Thestrals from the three magical creatures."

You can ask your friend if he heard any howling or growling from dogs during this process.

If not, then it is most likely a basilisk monster.

At this point, Li Wei belatedly realized:

"It is said that Salazar Slytherin, one of the four founders of Hogwarts, left behind a secret room before leaving the school and made a promise."

"The true heir of Slytherin will open the Chamber of Secrets and use its power to purify all the students Salazar Slytherin deems unworthy to learn magic."

The Basilisk. Yes, in the backstory of Harry Potter, Salazar Slytherin released a Basilisk in the Chamber of Secrets, an event that is also related to Voldemort.
Who was behind all of this in the shadows?

Li Wei frowned subconsciously.

After searching his past memories to no avail, he decided to let it go. With Dumbledore around, there was no need for him to worry about it.

"A student unworthy of learning magic?"

Hermione, absorbed in the joy of acquiring new knowledge, asked curiously.

"It refers to half-bloods and Muggle-born wizards. Slytherin believes that pure-bloods are born with noble bloodlines, and only those with such noble bloodlines are qualified to learn magical arts."

Allowing people of mixed blood to become wizards would only diminish the nobility and rarity of magic.

At this point, Li Wei couldn't help but shake his head.

"The fact that someone with such a narrow mind can become one of the four giants is perhaps one of the ways magic is unreasonable."

"Slytherin's ideas are so extreme; the history of the four great leaders doesn't mention this at all."

Hermione was skeptical—her attitude towards authority bordered on worship, and the fact that legendary figures living in countless books could be so despicable as to want to expel them, the 'Mudbloods', was unbelievable.
"After all, he was one of the four giants. Even if he did some absurd things, his descendants would defend him."

As books are the most widely disseminated medium, they naturally need to consider the potential negative impact of certain facts.

At this point, Levi lost interest in continuing his conversation with Hermione.

Even if Slytherin was the worst, they were still one of the Four Great Leaders, absolute pioneers who emerged from a barbaric and chaotic era.

The other party's knowledge and skill in magic were far beyond what he could currently match—if Slytherin were to return, Levi believed he wouldn't even be qualified to stand before them.

This qualification is what Li Wei should be focusing on right now.

Even though the four giants are no longer around, he still uses them as his benchmarks.

"That's all for now. You can go back and ask your friend for more details to see if it's a basilisk."

Of course, I'm more inclined to believe there are other reasons.

If he feels unwell in any way, remember to visit Mrs. Pomfrey.

"O-ok."

Hermione was absorbed in the information she had gained and responded subconsciously.

Before she could even come to her senses and say something, Li Wei had already closed the door behind her again.

"."

Hermione looked at the closed door, puffed out her cheeks, thought for a moment, but decided not to knock again and left in a hurry.

She will find the answer herself.
