Hogwarts: A Chinese-Style Professor
Chapter 14 Unbreakable Vow
Chapter 14 Unbreakable Vow
Knowledge Society, Outpost 2.
Li Wei and his two assistants reappeared.
"Professor, what brings you here!"
Upon seeing Li Wei, the students present visibly cheered.
Li Wei patted one of them on the shoulder and smiled:
"Gather everyone, I have something important to say."
Rand Scott was experimenting with his discovery when he heard that the professor had returned. He immediately stopped his exploration and ran outside with great joy.
"Professor! I've made an amazing discovery!"
He waved his arms, trying to get to the front of the crowd.
But as he got closer and saw Li Wei's expression, his excitement suddenly cooled.
Why does the professor look so serious? What major event has happened this time?
Is it inevitable that their organization will disband?
Li Wei looked around at the students, his gaze sweeping across their faces one by one—each face beaming with a simple smile, looking somewhat like a scientist from the 80s.
This is a group of people who are willing to sacrifice themselves for magic but have no intention of using it for evil. They don't explain why they have blocked everything. Is this fair to them?
"I'm here today to reach a consensus with you."
"Joe, could you please reiterate the conclusions of your recent research to them?"
"Yes, Professor."
Joe stepped out from behind Levi and began to explain again.
As the process proceeded, the quiet crowd gradually became noisy, with occasional whispers of discussion.
After Joe Weli finished his explanation, Li Wei didn't give everyone much time to interact and spoke again:
"When I founded the Knowledge Society, I established the ironclad rule that 'magic must not be used to maliciously maim or kill.'"
Magic, in my eyes, has never been a weapon for evil, but merely a cornerstone for uncovering our own mysteries. It is precisely because we share the same ideals that we have been able to come this far together. I think none of you have forgotten that, have you?
Seeing everyone nod, Li Wei also nodded and continued:
"I came here because I foresaw a terrible danger from this research."
I hope to make an unbreakable vow with all of you to completely eradicate this danger.
No one objected.
At the very least, it's not on the surface.
"Let's begin. Please line up and stand in front of me."
Li Wei took out his wand and, in front of everyone, set up a barrier, temporarily sealing off the entire area.
Jowell and Camille were the first to demonstrate, their right hands clasped tightly together.
Li Wei stepped forward and tapped the tip of his wand on their clasped hands.
Joe Willy began:
“Jamie, are you willing to swear that at any time, in any place, and under any circumstances, you will never again voluntarily study the three unforgivable curses?”
"I am willing."
A thin, dazzling tongue of fire shot out from the wand, like a red-hot metal wire, and wrapped around their clasped hands.
"Are you willing to swear that you will absolutely not, with any subjective intent, disclose today's research results?"
"I am willing."
A second tongue of fire erupted from the wand, intertwining with the first to form a thin, glowing red chain. "Do you swear that unless you are in an indisputable and imminent danger to your life, you will never use the three Unforgivable Curses on any living being?"
"I am willing."
A third tongue of fire shot out from the wand, intertwining with the previous two, tightly coiling around the two clasped hands like a rope or a fire-breathing snake.
“Very good, next person, come forward and shake George’s hand.”
Scott stood in the line and, while everyone was watching the contract process, subtly moved to the back of the queue.
'How could this be? For the past few years, the professor has been trying to find a way to increase the power of the spell. We finally found a feasible method, but the professor insists on sealing it away!'
So what if it's black magic? So what if it might harm one's personality?
Such a practical and effective method for cultivating one's spirit is right before one's eyes, yet the professor abandons it simply because of some insignificant risks?
Scott was not willing to accept this!
He could almost foresee what would happen if he continued down the path of his previous conjecture—using emotional amplifiers and self-created spells to intensify negative emotions, using the Unforgivable Curse to perceive and catalyze these emotions, and then using Occlumency to actively isolate negative thoughts.
This cycle continues, and each emotional outburst is more powerful than the last. By using Occlumency to counteract this effect, one's proficiency in Occlumency can also continue to improve, making it a win-win situation!
Moreover, the power of the three unforgivable curses can increase dramatically as negative emotions intensify.
Combined with the battle formation developed by the professor, the combined strength of the twenty-four of them, led by the professor and two teaching assistants, makes them unstoppable in the magical world.
Even Dumbledore couldn't do that!
"Scott, Scott Scott!"
"what!"
Scott snapped back to reality and realized everyone was staring at him—he didn't know when, but the people in front of him had already formed an alliance, and he was now standing at the very front of the line.
"me"
Scott reluctantly reached out his hand, only to have it gripped tightly by Joey's right hand!
"Scott, are you willing to swear an oath?"
"I do"
As three beams of red light illuminated his face, Scott helplessly released his grip and retreated behind the crowd.
After completing their contracts with everyone else, it was finally Levi's turn. Under Camille's witness, Levi and Jovel also made a contract to never learn or use the three Unforgivable Curses.
There was no resentment in anyone's heart to begin with, and when they saw that Li Wei did not apply double standards, but instead set an example by closing himself off as well, the last trace of dissatisfaction in their hearts disappeared.
"I'm sorry, we went astray this time, and it's entirely my responsibility."
Li Wei solemnly apologized to everyone and continued:
"The prerequisite for exploring the mysteries of black magic is ensuring our own safety."
This safety refers not only to physical safety, but also to the integrity of the soul.
Until I find a viable and harmless direction, I will temporarily prohibit you from researching black magic.
If anyone feels that such behavior is inconsistent with their thoughts or our principles, they can inform me later that they wish to leave.
"Professor, don't worry. We've already seen the dangers of black magic. How could we possibly ignore your advice and plunge in? Wouldn't that really make us black wizards?"
"Yeah, anyway, I haven't even figured out Potions yet. We don't only have Dark Magic as a subject to explore."
Everyone spoke up to comfort Li Wei, telling him not to overthink it.
As it was getting late, Li Wei answered several students' questions about their studies and then left again with two assistants.
After they left, the others offered their scattered opinions on the matter—although some felt that Li Wei was making a mountain out of a molehill, they generally supported his actions.
Scott stood in the crowd, listening to their nonchalant remarks, and left without saying a word.
"boom!"
After the door was closed.
In the dimly lit room, a hideous and terrifying face appeared.
