Chapter 93 Mother
Chapter 93 Mother's Day
"The Century Expo is in a week. We'll be organizing a visit to the Century Tower then. Listen carefully to the arrangements and get ready,"
Before school ended, Ms. Taylor addressed the class.
"Also, today is Mother's Day. Everyone can celebrate the holiday for their mothers in any way they like when they get home. It's not mandatory, but we'll ask your parents about it during the next parent open day and record it in your semester assessments, so..." Taylor's gaze swept over everyone in the class.
"Good that you understand. get out of class dismissed."
“That’s fantastic, Caesar! You know what? During the World’s Fair, we get a whole week off! And with our student IDs, all the attractions are free—it only happens once every six years!”
After class, Leon excitedly told Caesar.
The World's Fair, organized by Fein, is a grand gathering held every six years, with nearly thirty countries participating each time. It is an opportunity for countries around the world to showcase their national cultural characteristics and economic strength.
I heard that Finn has something big planned this time. Last time at the expo, Sia hadn't been found yet, so he's definitely going to use this opportunity to show off.
I heard that they've brought out all the treasured artifacts of the Eldaria Empire this time, and even built a statue of Emperor Shengyuan and Empress Greta to be displayed at the Century Tower. They finally managed to capture the last princess, so they have to show the world their status as the legitimate successor of the empire.
Unfortunately, Caesar, as the person involved, could not inspect the completion status of his statue.
"All you ever think about is holidays. It's Mother's Day today, have you prepared a nice gift for Aunt Glenn?" Tess glanced at him.
"Oh, no need to worry about that. I'll just buy a flower on my way home and give my mom a big hug when I get there," Leon snapped his fingers, looking smug. "I guarantee my mom will be incredibly touched."
“Tch, that’s so unoriginal,” Tess said.
"And what about you? You probably just buy a bunch of high-end cosmetics, right?" Leon asked.
“Vulgar. What good things hasn’t Mom seen? I’m going to give her a gift that’s full of my love and is one of a kind in the world,” Tess snorted.
"So what?"
Tess smiled and said, "A sumptuous dinner, which I cooked myself."
"Can I still eat it?"
Tess was filled with murderous intent towards Leon and rushed forward to twist his head off, but Caesar held her back.
"I really can't be bothered with you, hmph," Tess smoothed her hair and looked at Caesar.
"Caesar, have you prepared anything for Yumilia?"
"I've prepared a gift, but I don't know if you'll like it," Caesar said.
"Sigh~ She looks so small, could she be some kind of girly doll or something?" Tess guessed.
“No, not at all.” Caesar smiled helplessly at this thought. “However, I think she would probably like it if it were a doll or something.”
“But no matter what, I think it has to be within one's capabilities,” Leon sighed.
"When I was little, my kindergarten teacher told me to be filial to my parents and to learn to wash their feet and faces. The next morning, I took a basin of water to my mom's bedroom. She was still in bed, and I lost my balance, splashing the whole basin of water on her face. She sat up abruptly, soaking wet, staring at me with wide eyes and asking what I was doing. I said, 'Washing Mom's face.' Ugh, I almost beat her to death that time."
"It's quite an achievement that you've lived this long."
As they were talking, Caesar saw that not far from the school gate, Sia's adoptive mother, Manslivy, was waiting in front of a black car. When Sia came up, she whispered something and led her into the car.
Caesar watched the vehicle drive away, then turned his head, pulling his thoughts back.
Inside the car.
Sia took a small, exquisitely packaged box wrapped in dark blue silk from her bag and placed it next to Manslivie, saying expressionlessly:
"happy holidays."
"Ah."
Manslivy picked up the small box without expression, put it in her handbag without even looking at it.
"There's a family dinner tonight. Dad and Caesar will be back and will talk to you about the expo. Get ready."
"Okay," Xia replied casually, her gaze fixed on the scenery outside the car window.
Yumilia, carrying large bags of groceries, rushed upstairs, opened the door, and said breathlessly, "Sorry, Caesar, I'm late. Dinner will be ready soon."
She was taken aback to find that a steaming meal had been prepared on the dining table in the room, the house had been thoroughly cleaned, water droplets glistened on the bellflowers on the windowsill, and the floor was spotless.
Yumilia walked into the living room and saw a greeting card and a pink carnation on the coffee table.
The sound of a door opening came from behind her. Caesar, still wearing an apron, came out of the room and smiled slightly when he saw her.
"happy holidays."
Caesar stepped forward, embraced Yumilia, and gently kissed her blushing cheeks.
"Ah, this, this..." Yumilia stammered, clutching the flower, her face flushed with excitement. "Today, today is Mother's Day!" "Yes, so don't worry about anything today, just leave it to me," Caesar said earnestly, pressing her shoulder.
“Oh, okay, okay,” Yumilia said blankly, a smile creeping onto her lips.
"Let's eat first."
When Yumilia arrived at the dining table, her eyes widened in surprise as she looked at the food laid out on it.
"You did all this?"
She has been taking care of all three meals a day for years and has hardly ever seen Caesar cook.
"Not bad, right?"
"Yes, I didn't expect Caesar to be such a good cook."
He placed a piece of runny pumpkin pie on Yumilia's plate.
"Try it?"
Yumilia cut off a small piece and put it in her mouth, her face immediately showing a bright and surprised expression.
"It's so delicious! So incredibly tasty!"
"It's not that exaggerated." Caesar smiled helplessly. He knew his own cooking skills. Today, he had followed the recipe step by step. Although it wasn't bad, it certainly wasn't very tasty either.
However, he still followed Yumilia's tastes, and tonight's dinner was all sweet, with lots of sugar added.
But judging from Yumilia's expression, these seemed to be rare delicacies, and she savored each bite.
After finishing their meal and cleaning up the kitchen, Yumilia sat down in the living room, where he also brought out the gifts he had prepared.
"This was sent by Ita. She can't come back right now, so she can only send a letter to say hello."
Caesar first placed the slightly larger gift box in front of Yumilia.
"Is it from Ita?"
Yumilia opened the gift box, inside which was a particularly beautiful seashell.
There was also a handwritten letter:
"Happy Holidays. This is the gift I picked out. It's the gold medal from Brown Beach's Conch Beauty Contest this year. I heard you can hear the sound of the waves inside. That beach trip with Yumilia Caesar that year was so much fun and unforgettable. I really hope we can travel together again in the future. Love you forever, Ita."
"Ita gave me such a valuable gift," Yumilia said, but a happy smile still appeared on her face.
"Then, what did Caesar send? Let me see."
Yumilia happily opened Caesar's slightly smaller gift box.
When she saw the old music box, she was completely stunned.
Several seconds passed before he stiffly picked up the music box, his eyes filled with disbelief.
"Why...why is this here?" she asked, her voice trembling.
“I noticed the way you looked at it last time, so I bought it while I was working at that shop,” Caesar said.
Yumilia stared at it intently for a long time before she said in a trembling voice:
"Honestly, Caesar, why did you waste your weekend doing all this for me?" she scolded, but her eyes were already a little red.
"Do you like it?" Caesar asked.
"I," Yumilia gazed at the music box, holding it in both hands and pressing it against her chest.
"I love it, I love it so much, thank you Caesar."
She leaned in and hugged Caesar tightly.
"This must have been yours in the past, right?" Caesar guessed.
Yumilia gazed at the music box, pursed her lips, and nodded gently.
“It was a toy from when I was a child. I used to listen to it every night to fall asleep, but I accidentally lost it. When I found it again, it was in that shop.”
Caesar hesitated for a moment, then asked, "Did many things happen to you before you adopted me?"
A touch of melancholy appeared in Yumilia's eyes, and she smiled faintly:
"When I was a child, I went to many places, saw many people and things, and met many friends."
But in the end, they were all gone, just like this music box, just like my family.
"So I always thought I would be alone for the rest of my life, until I met Caesar, and my world started to shine again."
She raised her hand and gently stroked Caesar's face, saying softly, "Caesar is the best gift I have ever received."
A blush crept across her face, and she said somewhat awkwardly and embarrassedly, "Um, well, I said some strange things, sir. Anyway, thank you so much, Caesar, for preparing such a wonderful holiday gift for me!"
